The house is now filled with twenty or less vampires that are rescued from the tomb and prepare for the twenty-first century. In one of the dining rooms, Pearl is teaching Harper about the device that is known as cell phone. She is explaining happily and giggly. "—keypad is for texting which is what you do when you want to avoid talking to someone." Pearl watched her old friend curiously pushed a button and soon, they heard a chime of a new message from the phone.

Anna rushes in and saw her phone. She grabbed it not unkindly with an awkward smile while holding her phone away from her mother and the veteran vampire. "I didn't break it, I swear." Harper defended himself but Anna just smiles at him.

"I was just showing Harper what you taught me." Pearl stood up with a smile. "What a marvelous device!" she cannot wait to see more of what this timeline has to offer.

Harper hummed then nod his head at the phone that Asian vampire is holding. "Who was that?"

"Jeremy Gilbert." Anna answered, softly.

Pearl's smile fell while Harper narrowed his eyes. "Is that your boyfriend?"

"Of course not." The mother snorted and turned around to see her daughter. "What do you think?" she changed into respectful and appropriate for the twenty-first century.

Anna smiles at her. "Very respectable."

"That's the goal." Pearl was pleased. "I can't say that I miss corsets." She and her daughter giggled as they understand while Harper just shook his head.

The soldier vampire speaks up. "Once you leave, will you seek the information about her descendant?" he asked with a frown. He wants to search for her as it was his responsibility, but Pearl informed him that it's better to wait since they don't want to alert the town of the vampires living in it. They don't want to repeat occurred from century ago.

"Of course. I will inform you once I find the accurate information." Pearl promised her old friend, knowing how much Harper is loyal to his promises. Especially it was Emmanuella.

The young Asian vampire opens her mouth. "Susie Sunshine gave me her car keys and her ATM card." She informed her mother who looked at her confused.

"What's that?" Anna smiles fondly at her mother.

"I'll explain later." They turned around and start to leave but halted when a vampire man stared at them with blank face.

The vampire man crossed his arms as he was waiting outside of the room while Harper stood up from the chair. "Where are you going?"

"We have some business in town. We'll be back as soon as we can. I trust that you'll keep an eye on things." Pearl said with serious dace.

The vampire man snorted. "So, I'm the baby sitter now?" his tone shown his disbelieved and skeptical.

Pearl stared at him with a stern look. "Fredrick, if this is going to work, we have to cooperate with one another."

"So you saying—" Fredrick mutter but Harper cut in smoothly as his gaze went to his old friend. "I'll watch things." Pearl beamed at Harper. "Please inform me once you have the information I seek." Pearl nod her head understanding.

"Thank you, Harper." Pearl and her daughter left the room while Harper eyeing Fredrick with calculating. Harper won't let any vampires ruin his chances to fail his deliver on his promises. If there's no choice, he will kill every vampires and humans alike.

Later…

"You want me to what?" Caroline stared at her best friend incredulity as she is leaning her shoulder against the locker while Elena stares at her with hopeful and Stefan taking books from his locker behind the brunette into his backpack.

Kol… is not very happy with the doppelganger as he is busy currently glaring at the brunette's head. "Yes. You want her to what?" he hisses, not liking this topic.

Elena bit her lip. "It's just a dinner at the grill, and even maybe a late movie." She repeated, hopefully.

The blonde-haired beauty raised her eyebrow. "Elena… you do know what you are asking me, right?" Elena and Stefan glanced at each other and turned their eyes back on her with nods. "Seriously?"

"Say no, darling. Please, say no." the transparent Original demanded while glaring at the brunette.

"Please?" the brunette begged with wide innocent eyes. "Oh, don't give her those puppy dog eyes!" Kol snapped at Elena with irritated.

Caroline grimaced. "I don't know, Elena… you are asking me to do—couple thingy. With Matt. Why?" she doesn't understand why her best friends want her to do this. She doesn't like Matt in a romantic sense.

"I'm not asking you to date him. I'm asking you to join us on tonight together. You, Matt, Stefan and me." Elena clarified.

The blonde-haired beauty shakes her head. "You do realize that's going to be awkward for all of us, right?" she pointed it out.

"Which is why I strongly suggest you say, no." Kol frowned at his human, hoping that she rejected this ridiculously stupid idea. He is not fond of sharing his girl to any bloke. Not when he just finally communicates—somewhat—with her.

Elena cleared her throat. "Which is why I want to show Matt that we are friends. He and Stefan can get along and maybe play pools or something. While you and I hang out?" she explained with hopeful.

Kol eyeing at his human who is seriously contemplative which he doesn't like it one bit. He reached to touch Caroline's hand. He really needs to figure it out a way to inform her of his displease of this situation.

Caroline shivered slightly when she felt the cold touch from her hand. She doesn't know where exactly he is, but knowing he is there with her kind of helps. She likes having a silent supporter with her. "I don't know, Elena…"

Stefan closed his locker and shrugged his backpack over his shoulder and smiles at Caroline. "Come on. I think it will be nice. An evening out with friends. Sounds fun." He declares with a charmingly smile.

"…alright. Fine." The blonde-haired beauty accepted while Kol made a bitter face. The Original shifted his glares from Elena to Stefan.

"…I like you less now." Kol muttered, sourly.

Later…

Kol stared at the wall with a bitter face as he is sitting on a seat between Caroline on one side with Matt next to her, across them is Elena and Stefan. They all arrived just few minutes ago and sat down. The Original was not happy about this one bit. His dark eyes shifted from the wall to glares at the doppelganger and the young Salvatore.

Caroline lightly drumming her fingers against the table while feeling somewhat awkward and Stefan listening to Elena and Matt animatedly chatting with content. Kol groaned exaggerated loudly. "This is so unpleasantly dreadfully boring." Kol whined then decided to poke Caroline's forehead out of boredom.

The blonde-haired beauty started by the cold touch from her forehead. She slammed her head on it out of reflexes much to Kol's amusement when she glares from the corner of her eyes with annoying sparks in her blue-green eyes.

"You alright, Care?" Elena speak up with confused and concerned.

Caroline lowered her hand and smiles awkwardly when two others staring at her with perplexed and worried. "I'm fine. I just thought—mosquitoes or something touch my head." She fibbed uncomfortably.

Kol raise his eyebrow with offended. "I am not a mosquito—" he paused; he is aware that such kind of insect is actually blood-sucking type. "Oh darling… you have no idea." He murmured with amused. Although, he doesn't like to be compare as an insect. So, he pokes his human's forehead out of childish revenge.

Caroline twitches when she felt another cold as her lips firmly pressed together with a fake smile. Kol grinned widely.

Then loud laughter caught their attention as they turned and saw Damon, Kelly, and Jenna drinking together at the bar.

"You got to be kidding me." Matt muttered with disbelieved and resigned.

Kol just raise his eyebrows. "It's too bad that alcohol poison has no effect to vampires." He muttered when he glares at Damon.

After a moment, the group decided to entertain themselves by playing at the pool table in the pool area. Kol leaned on the wall with his arms crossed while watching his human playing with Elena against two of her friends with her own skill.

Once they play half-way through the game, Caroline lean against the pool stick while Stefan take his turn. The blonde-haired beauty glanced over at the bar where her abuser, Elena's aunt, and Matt's mother are. "At least they're having fun." Caroline attempt to be positive which Kol couldn't help but stare at her fondly.

"They're drunk." Elena stated with a blunt.

Matt pointed it out. "Remember when Elena's parents busted us here after the homecoming?" slowly, a smirk appeared on his face.

Caroline's eyes widen as she giggled. "Oh my god, yes!" she recalled such memory with amused. Kol and Stefan glanced at the three childhood friends with interested.

"Well, we were wasted; it was the first time I ever got drunk." Elena explained with a wide smile. "I blame Matt."

The Quarterback chuckled. "Her parents got seated at the next booth."

"And Matt had me pretend that I was choking so we could get away." The brunette shakes her head.

Matt sniggered. "Except that her dad was a doctor, so he jumped up to save her."

"And I ran, slipped on the wet floor and bit it in front of everyone." Elena and Matt smiles fondly as they recalled the memories. "Do you remember that? Three stitches, a hangover for days and I was grounded from seeing this one—" Elena send her playful glare at Matt. "—for a week." They laughed.

Kol glanced at two humans back and forth with thoughtful. "…I feel like there's unsolved old relationship sexual tension between you two." He blunted blankly.

Stefan just smiles softly while Caroline cleared her throat with a polite smile. "Excuse me. I'm gonna go to the restroom. Elena?" the blonde-haired beauty jerked her head while handed the pool stick to Matt who grabbed it not unkindly.

Elena nod her head and followed Caroline before she smiles at Stefan. Kol followed them as he immediately knew that his human doesn't need to use a restroom at all. Knowing her, she is having a talk with the brunette.

Kol loves seeing his human being all serious. He honestly thought it was hot. While he is busy admired examined his human who is currently sitting on the counter with her arms crossed. Once Elena finished her business, she walked straight to the sink, wash her hands and turned off the water and dried her hand with paper towels.

"So… what are you doing?" Caroline blunted, straight to the point which Kol loves that about her.

Elena lifted her head as she could see Caroline from the reflection with confused frown. "What?"

The blonde-haired beauty rolled her eyes. "What's the point for me to be here if you continue like this with Matt to Stefan?"

The brunette turned around and leaned against the sink with a curious face. "I don't—I don't understand."

Kol sighed heavily as he knew that this doppelganger is smart, but she could be oblivious sometimes. Caroline tutted. "I could feel the unsolved sexual tension between you and Matt since you both were former sweethearts." She blunted and the bad boy Original smirked widely. "That what I just said, love." He muttered with amused and amazed that they both think almost alike.

"T-that's not true!" Elena protested. "I just—I was just trying to make conversation."

The blonde-haired beauty sighed loudly. "If you want Matt to get over you, then you need to show him how much you care about Stefan. Not hopscotch down memory lane. It won't help anything. It'll just be a waste of my time, making Matt's feeling for you to grow and Stefan will feel awkward—if he isn't. Yet." She said with a stern face.

"I just… I only want us to have fun."

Caroline jumped down the counter and step froward with an empathic face. "I understand. I do." She placed her hand on Elena's shoulder. "But you can't keep doing this to Matt and Stefan. You will be ended up hurting them more."

Kol half-grinned at his human. "You are too kind, love." He muttered then step toward her and gently brush his fingertips on Caroline's cheek.

The blonde-haired beauty cleared her throat. "Why don't you go ahead, I need to refreshen myself." Elena blinked at her but nodded and leaves the bathroom.

Caroline double-check the restroom while Kol watches with interested. "Okay… Kol?" she called out, shyly.

Kol's undead heart swell when he heard his name from her lips. He doesn't think he's ever gotten tired of it. So, he touches her cheek which she shivers. "Okay, so you are here. Why? Because I can't imagine why a centuries-old ghost would find himself to be interested in the girls' bathroom." Caroline cocked her eyebrow with slightly discomfort yet dryly amused.

"I'm only interested when you want to talk with the doppelganger. It's rather amusing to watch, darling." Kol respond, knowing his human won't hear him but at least he can somewhat touch her. He pokes her forehead just for fun.

Caroline just shakes her head. "Your touch is very cold." She mumbled as she rubbed her forehead. "I wish I can communicate with you easier, but I better get back with my friends. But soon, we'll talk more. Okay?" Kol brush his finger on her cheek which made her smiles with brighten eyes. "Good."

The blonde-haired beauty left the restroom with Kol followed behind. When she arrived back to her friends and they finished playing the pool for half an hour.

"Hey…" Elena speak up with hopeful smile. "Why don't we all head to Stefan's place and watch movies?" she offered.

Caroline raise her eyebrows at Elena while Kol is interested and curious about the young Salvatore's place. Although, as long as that soon-to-be-dead vampire is nowhere near his human. Matt hummed with thoughtful.

"I guess we could… would that be fine, Stefan?"

Stefan nod his head with a smile. "Yeah. Why not?"

"I hope there will be excitement otherwise I will find a way to amuse myself. Somehow." Kol muttered, feeling bored.

Later…

Caroline examined the house with amazed and awed while Kol just looked at his surroundings with disinterested. "This is much better than watching Damon visit cougar town." The blonde-haired beauty commented then turned to her friend. "No offence."

Matt made a face. "Don't remind me." Then he turned to Stefan. "Man, I've always wanted to see what it looks like in this place." He said, amazed.

Caroline hummed while studied the antiques inside of the famous founding house. "Not bad… although bit too old-fashion for my taste."

"Well, I think you will like my taste." Kol smirks at his human, wondering what her reaction will be like if—no, when, she sees his home.

"So, do you guys want to watch a movie or something?" Elena speak up with a polite smile.

Before anyone could answer, Matt sauntered toward the cabinet that has miniature cars collection. "Whoa, these are great!" Kol stared at the collection with unimpressed while Stefan step forward with a slightly shy grinned.

"This is uh… a little hobby of mine."

Caroline and Elena glanced at each other and watches them bonding over the cars. "Well, typical boys. Bonding over cars. Even though they are toys." The blonde-haired beauty joked with a smile while Elena just chuckled. Kol hummed, he though it was silly to collect the toys but he actually likes cars so he poke his human's forehead.

The blonde-haired beauty twitches with slightly annoyed when she felt the cold touch. "Kol." She barely open her mouth while Kol just grinned widely with mirth in his eyes.

Stefan decided to lead his friends to the garage which is outside.

Caroline raise her eyebrow when Stefan opened the garage door and glanced at Matt with a smirk. "Prepare yourself, my friend." The young Salvatore said then removes a tarp from a red old-fashioned car.

Kol and Matt step forwards and inspecting the classic car. "Not bad, mate." Kol whistled with impressed and admired the beauty classic car.

"Why don't you—I mean—why don't you drive it?" Matt asked, in shocked and amazed while examined the car.

Stefan answered. "Well, it doesn't run. I mean, it's not that I could figure it out."

Elena leaned against the wall with amused while Caroline placed her hands on her hips with a face. "Why would you keep a car that doesn't run?" she asked, skeptical and confused.

"Be more of a girl right now?" Matt teasingly said to Caroline who playfully fake-laugh at him. Kol narrowed his eyes at Matt. He still doesn't want any chances for this boring bloke start take any interested in his human, despite the fact it's painfully obvious that Matt is still in love with Elena.

Stefan turned his eyes to Matt after he opened the trunk. "Hey, want to come to take a look at this for me?"

Matt nod his head, walking around and open his mouth. "Elena, remember the old Camaro your dad used to have?"

"Of course." Elena step forward inside the garage while Caroline stayed outside with curious face. Kol is wondering where this bloke's conversation is going.

"I built and rebuilt that engine twenty times." Matt informed Stefan who looked impressed.

Caroline wrinkle her nose at the car. "I don't like sports cars; they're too hard to make out in."

"Is that so, darling?" Kol hummed as he sauntered over his human's side. "Then I will make sure there's enough back seat so we can snog." he commented with lewd smirked on his face while enjoying his view at his human. He can't wait to taste of her someday.

Matt shook his head. "It wasn't that bad." He glanced at Elena without thinking. Which makes the entire thing rather uncomfortable much to Kol's amused.

Caroline inwardly sighed, not wanting to be the fourth-wheeler of Elena's relationships. She just pushed herself away from the wall and walked away. She isn't interested in this any longer. Kol followed her with curious frown.

The blonde-haired beauty saw the bench, so she decided to sit down and sighed softly. Kol brush his fingertips against her cheek with concern. "I'm fine Kol." She muttered with a small smile. The bad boy Original stared at her with skepticism.

"Caroline…" the blonde-haired beauty lifted her head to Elena who sauntered to her and sat next down next to her. "…are you okay?"

Caroline frowned. "I agreed to hang out with you guys. However, I can't help but feel like a fourth-wheeler or something. You, Stefan and Matt are really making this whole hang-out really uncomfortable for me." She blunted it, unamused. "I could have stay at home and spend my time more worth it."

"Are you saying I'm worth it to you, love?" Kol wiggle his eyebrows at his human playfully yet his undead heart skep a beat with reluctant hope.

"I'm not trying—" Elena shut her jaws and stared at the ground quietly. The blonde-haired beauty eyeing at her best friend quietly.

"Why did you ask me?" Caroline couldn't help but wondering.

Elena furrowed her eyebrows as she lifted her gaze to her with confused. "What do you mean?"

Caroline crossed her arms. "Why did you asked me to hang out with you guys? You could have asked Bonnie? She's your best friend."

"What? Caroline, you are my best friend too." The brunette said, perplexed.

"Am I? Is it because Bonnie actually has plan to spend her time with Grams? Not available so you decided to ask me, since I'm your second choice. Your Bonnie back up." Caroline dryly said, Bonnie had texted her a while ago about asking her how's the hang out and that she couldn't accept Elena's invitation since she had a plan.

Kol frowned at his human, he could see how hurt Caroline is. "I-I don't understand… you're not the back up." Caroline raise her eyebrow at Elena with disbelieved. "You are being ridiculous."

"And insecure and stupid." The blonde-haired beauty snapped, hurt.

"No you are not." Kol sharply denied, he knows his human is anything but those.

Elena shakes her head with confused. "Where is this coming from?"

Caroline rolls her eyes and noticed the red classic car driving out of the garage and pulling up. Matt and Stefan climbed out of the car with excited grinned on their faces.

"Piece of cake!" Matt shouted with self-satisfied.

Stefan glanced at them. "Why don't you guys go ahead and take it for a spin?" he offered, to Matt and Caroline who didn't look rather comfortable. Kol glares at Stefan. "I'm starting to like you less and less." He muttered.

"Really?" Matt's eyes lit with hopeful.

"Yeah." Stefan threw a key to Matt who caught it and he turned to Caroline with a grinned. "Caroline?"

The blonde-haired beauty smiles stiffly, stood up from the bench and climbed in the passenger seat. Matt walked around, climbed on the driver seat and Kol somehow found himself in the middle between his human and boring bloke. "Oh this is going to be fun." Kol sarcastically said.

After an awkward moment of silence driving through the woods. Matt opened his mouth. "Did I just pass the driveway?"

"No." Kol snapped, annoyingly.

Caroline squints her eyes at the direction through the windshield. "Uh… no, I think it's up there." She pointed it, calmly.

"This is an amazing car." Matt commented while Kol made a noise from his throat. He just wants to get this thing over with so his human can get away from this boring bloke. "So… are you and Elena okay?"

The blonde-haired beauty stared at the woods through the window. "Yeah. We're good." She answered, offhandedly.

"You sure?" Matt glanced at Caroline with doubtful. Caroline hummed in respond. "…Elena thinks that you might be good for me."

Caroline and Kol snapped their heads at Matt with surprised. Kol—displeased— while Caroline raise her eyebrows with stunned. "Excuse me?"

Matt just shrugged his shoulders. "She mentions to me couple of times. Thinking it might do me good, and you too."

"Bloody hell… that doppelganger is nothing but trouble." Kol groaned loudly.

Caroline shakes her head. "I—I don't know what to say except that I'm not interested in you." She blunted, straight to the point much to Kol's relief. "No offense."

"None taken." Matt chuckled happily. "I… I'm not interested in either."

Kol is happy to hear that even though he is offended for his human. Who wouldn't be interested in Caroline Forbes?

"I just think she only wants to help us." The Quarterback commented with a soft smile. "Elena just wants her friends to be happy. You know how she is."

Caroline chuckled dryly. "Oh, believe me. I know."

Kol was satisfied and relief that he doesn't have to worry about this guy. "You alright, mate." He commented as he pat Matt's shoulder but nothing reaction from this human. So, Kol brushes his human's cheek who shivered with a confused frown. Caroline's gaze shifted to a spot between her and Matt. She cock her eyebrow questioning while Matt is focus driving toward to the boarding house.

The Original chuckled and tap her forehead which she rolled her eyes and turned away with a small smile. His undead heart swell happiness that he made her smile.
