Lunchroom
A Week Later…

Kol is sitting in the chair between Caroline and Bonnie with slight boredom and interest while watching them quietly. "Alright, let's reference last year's Miss Mystic float." Caroline opens her laptop and starts typing on the keyboards. "This is what they did last year—" she double clicks the mouse and turns her laptop to show a photo to the witch. "—and this is exactly what we don't want to do."

"Ew." Bonnie made a disgusted and unimpressed face when she saw how cheap and dull the float was while Kol mentally agreed with the witch. "Okay! So, what are we doing?"

Caroline cleared her throat as she straightened her posture. "Southern-classic elegance."

"Gone with the Wind?" Bonnie asked with knowingly eyes which surprised Caroline as her eyes widened while Kol sighed loudly yet fondness found its way in his dark eyes.

"How did you know?"

The Bennett witch half-smiled with a mirth glint in her olive-green eyes. "You channel Scarlett, daily." She answered.

"And also for the fact that we've been watching that movie countless times for the past week, darling." The Original deadpanned. For the entire week, his human has been watching the movie called Gone with the Wind every day non-stop. He has criticized and commented on the movie the entire time. Seriously, he may have been daggered before the nineteen-thirties, but even he knew there are some flaws in that timeline.

Caroline smiles perky. "So true!" She and Bonnie laughed happily. Then the blond-haired beauty scanned around. "Where's Elena? She's supposed to be helping."

"I don't know." She shrugged her shoulders, offhandedly. Kol raised his eyebrow at the Bennett witch with curiosity.

The blonde-haired beauty huffed softly then stared at her best friend with a serious face. "Okay, what's the deal?" she blunted Bonnie, straight to the point.

Bonnie frowned questioningly. "What do you mean?"

"Don't play dumb." Caroline rebuked with a stern frown. "You and Elena are fighting. Spill!"

"It's nothing." The petite witch empathized with, but Caroline knew that Bonnie was lying to her.

Kol shifted his eyes back and forth with amusement.

The blonde-haired beauty stared at Bonnie with skepticism. "It's not nothing. You know this whole float is supposed to be about friends creating something together and everyone is fighting. Matt and Tyler hate each other. You and Elena are on the outs. and I… I don't like it." the witch just shrugged her shoulders silently. "And I can't fix it if I don't know what's wrong."

"I can't talk about it, Caroline, I'm sorry." Bonnie apologized.

Caroline stared at Bonnie. She opened her mouth to reply but soon closed it. What would she say? 'If it has something to do with you being a witch. I already know. I know the witches are real. And ghosts too.' She mused, opening her mouth one more time but hesitated and ended up quiet instead.

Kol narrowed his eyes at his human with inquisitiveness. He reached over to Caroline, touching her hand with wonder.

The blonde-haired beauty curled her hands and gave a tiny and barely noticeable shake of her head. Kol frowned, questioning himself about what bothers his human.

Caroline's Bedroom
Later…

Caroline is sitting on her bed while searching through some random website on her laptop while Kol is sitting on the ground, his back against the bed and near his human. The blonde-haired beauty has been busy in her own world for a while and Kol was bored to death.

Fortunately, it seems that his boredom won't last much longer. The phone rang interrupted the silence as two heads turned to the nightstand where Caroline's phone was located. The blonde-haired beauty reached over, picked up her and read the ID. She beamed with joy and answered it with the speaker on. "Lexi!" she greeted her friend cheerfully and Kol perked up.

"Linnie!" Lexi's warm voice happily. "I'm sorry for not calling you in a while. I've been busy lately."

Caroline placed her phone down next to the laptop so she can continue searching online. "Oh no. It's fine. As long as you don't forget about me."

Lexi scoffed playfully. "As if I ever forget you!" Kol smirked, agreeing with the vampire because he doubts anyone would ever forget Caroline Forbes. "So, tell me. What has been going on in the little town of Mystic Falls?"

"Oh my God… so much has happened in so little time. Okay, here goes…" Caroline cleared her throat. "First thing, do you know the Miss Mystic Falls?" Lexi informed that she doesn't know what it was. "Basically it's like a beauty pageant except, it's more for the community, you have to put a lot of effort into how much you care and love this town. So, I got in last week and out of all the candidates, I won!"

"Oh my God! That's wonderful, Linnie. Congratulations! I'm so proud of you." Caroline giggled happily while Lexi was gushing over. Then suddenly a manly voice spoke up. "Yes! Congratulations sweetcheeks! Proud of you!" there's a pause. "Congratulations for what?" a slap could be heard and Lee yelped in shock and pain.

Kol just shakes his head with amusement while Caroline bit her inner cheek, trying to control her laughter while Lexi was scolding Lee. "Oh? Is that so? Well, sweetcheeks, I'm proud of ya! You deserved it!"

"Thanks Lee." Caroline chuckled. Soon, they start having a lighter and more animated chat for a while until Kol turned his body halfway and stared at Caroline in surprise when she asked her friends a shocking question. "By the way… do you believe in ghosts?"

"What are you doing, darling?" Kol muttered with confusion.

Lexi hummed with curiosity. "I… believe that every fictional story has some truth in it." She answered.

The blonde-haired beauty furrowed her eyebrows. "Does that mean you do believe it?" Lexi confirmed that she is correct. "…because I have a ghost that has been stalking me for months." Caroline blurted it out with playful sparkles in her eyes, not wanting to offend Kol. Luckily, Kol notices it and smirks at her. He reached over to gently tap her hand which Caroline smiles softly.

Silence for a few seconds. "Oh? Tell me about this ghost? It is hurting you?" Lexi asked, concerned.

"Excuse me?" Kol raises his eyebrow, feeling offended. As if he could ever harm his precious human.

Caroline shakes her head. "No, no. Of course not. In fact, he was a perfectly friendly ghost." She assured her friends through the phone. "We're friends."

Kol hummed. "If I were standing in front of you in my real body, darling. I won't let us just be friends any longer." He wants to be more than friends with her.

"That's good. Tell me about it. You said—a he? I hope he's not a pervert ghost." Kol placed his hand over his heart with a fake-hurt face. He is not a pervert—he paused and nodded his head himself. He did make quite a bit of lewd comments and enjoyed the views of his human's showing off her skin. He even entertained the thought of what she would look like without any clothes.

The blonde-haired beauty pressed her lips together with thought. "…I hope so. But I trust him. He hasn't hurt me for months and I doubt he would start anytime."

"Got that right, sweetheart." The Original stood up to his feet and lightly touched her cheek, Caroline leaned her cold cheek against her shoulder with a warm smile. Kol really likes seeing her smile, he really, really likes to be the one who makes her smile.

Lee opened his mouth. "As long as you are unharmed, then I don't need to find an exorcist or priest to vanish that ghost." Kol snorted while Caroline chuckled. Lexi huffed but agreed with her boyfriend and she spoke up. "So, tell us about this ghost boy of yours?"

"Well, so far I've learned that he is nineteen-year-old, had been dead for centuries, he had a big family, born in winter—he doesn't remember which months he was born—he plays baseball—" she kept chatting about all the information she has learned so far about Kol. While Kol is staring at her amused and surprised that she would remember everything he told her about him to her.

He didn't expect his human to remember everything so trivial about him and he couldn't help it as his undead heart swell with happiness and hope. "—and he really likes to poke my forehead when he is being playful. And when he is genuinely being sincere, he touches my cheeks. If he is concerned or wondering, he touches my hands, sometimes randomly which I just think he is just lazy or bored. And when I ask him questions, one tap from him is yes or no tap from him is a no." Caroline continued as she informed her friends about her ghost friend.

Kol raised his eyebrow. "I'm impressed that you've figured out the meaning behind my touches so far." He knew his human was intelligent; he couldn't help but be impressed by her.

"And that's what I know so far about him. Oh—and his name is Kol." Caroline added, merrily. Kol felt smug that his human whom he has fallen for has so much knowledge about him for weeks now.

Lexi cleared her throat while Lee hummed with interest. "Wow… that's a lot of information for a dead guy." Caroline chuckled sheepishly while Kol smirks. "You mention that he was around for centuries? Is he stuck or something? He can't pass on?"

"I'm not exactly dead-dead. I'm in a daggered coma and was cursed to be stuck with her. Not that I'm complaining." Kol muttered, recalling the information he gained from the dead Bennett witch. It was few but he at least knew that some powerful witch cursed him which he still doesn't know the why.

Caroline sighed. "Yeah… I asked him if I could help but there's nothing I can do. So, for now we're keeping each other's company. Honestly… it's nice to have a friend by my side." She said with a gentle smile.

"I agree with you, darling." The Original vampire gently strokes her cheek which Caroline smiles in return. "But someday, once I'm undaggered, I will court you as soon as possible. That I promise, love." He has so many plans for he and Caroline which he is looking forward to. He doesn't know how or when, but Kol will find a way to release himself from his dick of a brother and catch this brilliant, beautiful mortal's heart.

"I see… well, as long as he is friendly then I have no problem with him hanging around you. You said his name was Kol?"

The blonde-haired beauty hummed in response. "Kol is a very unusual name. I heard of someone who had same name as him." Kol perked up intrigued by this piece of information. He wondered if Lexi and Lee knew of his reputation and his Original status. "But of course, they must be different people. Anyways, so… tell me, Miss Mystic Falls. What's going to happen now that you are the winner?"

"Well, tomorrow I will be helping build floats with a southern-classic elegance theme—" Caroline animatedly chatted about her plans for the floats to her female best friend while Kol returned to the floor and leaned against the bed. He placed his elbows on his prop knees as his head tipped back with his eyes close. He didn't completely tune out his human's voice, stopping once a while just to hear it a few times, he likes hearing her voice.

It was soothing for him.

Mystic Falls
High School
Next Day…

Many students have been helping build floats ever since early morning. There are groups of students who are painting posters and banners. Another group who are in charge of building objects. A different group who is working on crafting ribbons, wrapper papers, flowers, and so on. And finally, a group of volunteers who are setting up the main float.

Kol is leaning against the large, handcrafted throne while Caroline is sitting on it as she is busy attaching the decoration streamers to the woods. Kol watches her with amusement at how focused she was when she was busy placing the streamers on the float.

Suddenly, Matt screamed out in pain while Caroline dropped the decoration streamers and jerked her head around. She gasped when she saw Matt's arm getting crushed underneath the trailer. "Get this trailer off!" Matt screams as his other free hand slaps against the trailer in fear. "Come on guys! Help me!"

Caroline jumps off the floats while Tyler rushes to help Matt with some other jocks. They have been trying to lift it. Tyler snapped at others. "Give me a hand!" He needs more helping hands, so few more joined in and continue to try to remove the trailer.

"Oh my God…" the blonde-haired beauty jogged over to them with worry while Kol quickly followed her. "Yikes. If that trailer isn't removed as soon as possible, his arm will be flattened in no time. That would be bloody messy." Kol offhandedly.

Finally, Stefan appeared through the crowd, helping lift the trailer as they finally removed it. Matt jerked his broken arm away from the trailer and cradled it against his chest while groaning loudly in pain. Caroline instantly rushes to the Quarterback's side and bends down with worry. "Matt…"

Stefan placed his hand on Caroline's shoulder. "Caroline, call an ambulance." The blonde-haired beauty nodded her head with understanding, she stood up and grabbed her phone out, stepping backwards while calling the ambulance number.

After a few minutes Caroline finished calling the ambulance, she rushed back to her friends and checked over Matt with concern. "The ambulance is saying in fifteen-twenty minutes." She informed her friends, worriedly.

Tyler shakes his head. "I have my car. I can take him to the hospital." He suggested a better solution.

"Caroline can take me." Matt snapped and Kol raised his eyebrow. His dark gaze shifted to Tyler and back to Matt. It seems Matt is angry at Tyler. Which Kol doesn't know why nor cares.

He only really cares about Caroline in this cursed city, the others he could support. Maybe.

"I didn't drive." Caroline stressed.

The Quarterback sighed. "I'll wait. It's fine."

The blonde-haired beauty huffed loudly then glared at Matt with a stern voice. "You will not wait, okay?! You need to see a doctor. Tyler is driving." She leaned closer with serious eyes. "End of story." She stated with finality. The young Lockwood stared at her with wide eyes then darted his eyes at Matt and her back and forth.

"Go!" Caroline snapped which Tyler startled and bobbled his head as he obeyed her before he promised to bring his car around as fast as possible.

Kol whistled amazed and a little turned on. "That was hot, darling." He likes seeing her spunk and taking charge.

After Tyler picked up Matt and drove to the hospital. Caroline starts taking charge and controls of the floats. The ghost just watches his human with an amazed glare.

Caroline Forbes never fails to surprise him.

Mystic Falls
High School
Empty Classroom
A Few Days Later…

The school offered an empty classroom for Miss Mystic Falls to use as a temporary dressing room. There are curtains covering the windows along with a divider screen and large mirror. Desks were pushed together to make a makeshift table with cream-white tablecloth covering it. Caroline is currently changing her out of her clothes into a thirties costume while Bonnie is sitting at one of the desks, waiting while Kol is leaning against the teacher's desk with his arms crossed. He glanced at the witch and at the divider screen where his human is hiding.

"So you're not going to tell me what happened?" Caroline's voice carried out.

Bonnie sighed with guilty eyes. "I did something bad, Care, and I lied about it." She admitted.

"To who?" The blonde-haired beauty stepped out in her undergarments as she held onto the corset while Kol raised his eyebrow at his human with a smirk. "By the way, can you—?" Caroline waves her free hand at the unlace behind her while Bonnie nods her head.

The petite witch jumped off the desk, walking towards her. Bonnie grabbed the strings and started pulling them. "To Elena." Bonnie answered after she was halfway pulling the strings of the corset. "I pretended to do something I didn't really do."

"Ah… typical classy trick from witches." Kol is well-aware of the cheap tricks from witches from his experiences. Which is why he made sure to respect them with real information, real magic and real deals instead of falsity and tricks. As much as he respected witches, he made sure to remind them of his reputation and that he won't be very pleased if any of those witches dared to make a fool out of him.

Caroline grunted when she was starting to feel the corset tighten around her waist when Bonnie pulled more strings as she placed her hand in front of her corset. "What are you talking—whoa—about?"

"I couldn't do what she wanted me to do." The tiny witch explained as she tugged it more and Caroline gasps softly. "It wasn't right. Grams would have never done it, so I couldn't either." Bonnie then gave another tug and nodded to herself with satisfaction. "But when Elena finds out, she's never gonna forgive me." Bonnie tied the laces and double-checked to make sure the corset is all laced up. "There."

"Thanks." The blond-haired beauty sighed and stepped toward the divider to grab a marigold-yellow dress. "Help me, please?" Bonnie helped her. "Since you won't tell me the details, all I can offer is that one day, Elena will forgive you if you explain the real reason why you didn't do whatever Elena wants you to do."

The petite witch snorted with skepticism. After Caroline is finished with her costume, the blonde-haired beauty stood in front of the mirror while carefully examining her appearance. "At least I can still breathe." Caroline mumbled and took a deep breath.

"That's what happens when you pick the southern-classic elegance." Bonnie reminded her best friend with amusement clear on her face.

Kol hummed and agreed, pushing himself away from the desk to his human. Caroline huffed but an excited smile appeared on her face. "I'm really excited for the floats though!" the petite witch chuckled as she walked to the table and picked up the gloves.

"You look lovely, darling." Kol commented while watching Bonnie handed the gloves to Caroline who grabbed it kindly and put them on. Kol pokes his human's forehead and a mirth glints appear in his mischievous eyes when Caroline makes a face.

"Ready?" Bonnie asked, questioning.

Caroline whirled around with a beam. "Definitely! I want to take so many pictures before the parade starts." She said, excitedly.

.

.

.

Kol stood next to Bonnie while glaring at Matt who was standing way too close to his human. Caroline and Matt are doing poses in front of the camera that Bonnie is carrying. "Say cheese!"

"Don't even think about touching her." Kol eyeing the human bloke with a warning, he doesn't care that his threat is not heard. It made him feel a little bit better. Somewhat.

"Oh wait!" Caroline turned her head to her friend with a frown. "Hide your cast, it's not era-appropriate."

Matt raised his eyebrow at her. "Seriously?"

"Yes." The blonde-haired beauty admitted with a cock eyebrow. Her face is telling him that she is indeed serious about it. Bonnie just made a face as she lowered the camera while Kol sniggered with amusement. "Oh darling."

The Quarterback rolled his eyes playfully. "Okay, fine." He shakes his head amused as he took a different pose while hiding his cast much to Caroline's satisfaction, while Kol made a bitter face when he noted that Matt is a little too close to his human.

Bonnie lifted her camera and snapped the picture of the two friends.

"I want one with Bonnie now!" Caroline demanded, giddy and happily. Kol smirked as his human's buzzed off with pure happiness and excitement. He adores her adorable happy-drunk-like attitude.

"Here, I can take it." A voice speaks up which all eyes turned to Tyler who offered with an almost shy smile. Bonnie handed him the camera and stepped toward Caroline while Matt eyed Tyler.

Matt turned his gaze to Caroline. "I'll be on the float." He left.

Tyler scoffed slightly but waited for Matt out of the heart shot. His dark eyes went to Caroline exasperatedly. "I said I was sorry."

"You made out with his mother." Caroline reminded him as Kol jerked his head to Tyler with a disgusted face. —"That's just bloody wrong, mate."— "And then you beat him to a pulp. You're gonna have to do a little bit better than sorry."

The young Lockwood just sighed so he lifted the camera and took a picture of Caroline and Bonnie together.

Soon, Caroline and Tyler headed off to one of the floats. Kol followed his human to the float, with help from others to lift Caroline on the float who stepped up to take her spot and adjust her banner. Kol stood behind Caroline while glanced around with slight interest.

And then the parade began as the audience stood by the street, waving and clapping at the students from the floats, along with marching bands, cheerleaders, dancers, and carts with hay who were occupied by the football players. It was a very joyful and wonderful parade for the crowd.

Mrs. Lockwood's voice was heard through the speaker from the microphone. "—give a big hand to the Mystic Falls high school Marching Band!" the marching band and the cheerleaders parade, together with everyone applauded and cheered loudly.

Then the float arrived in the street where Jeremy and Tyler are in it as they were waving and pretending to shoot at each other. "And for a little local history, Mr. Saltzman's students have recreated Virginia's Battle of Willow Creek." Mrs. Lockwood continued, politely.

And that's when the main float arrived. "Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome our stunning Miss. Mystic Falls Court and their handsome escorts." On the float, Kol watches how Elena, Stefan, Caroline, Matt, and the rest of the Mystic Fall Court and their escorts are laughing and waving to the crowd.

"This is Caroline Forbes, our very own, Miss Mystic Falls." Mrs. Lockwood informed the audience. Caroline beams widely as she waves at the crowd while Kol strokes her cheek with his finger. The blonde-haired beauty shivers and yet her smiles grew. "Aren't they beautiful?" Mrs. Lockwood asked the crowd, contended.

"Not as beautiful as my darling." Kol muttered.

After a moment of an enjoyable parade. Mrs. Lockwood opened her mouth. "Let's cheer for the Mystic Falls high school football team." She smiles widely as she continues watching the parade. "Alright! Let's show them our support, everybody!"

Mystic Grill
Later…

Caroline is leaning back against the chair with a contented smile on her face. "Thank God… as pretty as that dress is… the corset is pure evil." She was so happy when she was free from the corset a while ago. It was blissfully nice to breathe the air. "Something tells me you won't go back to that corset anytime soon." Kol muttered amused as he sat next to her. Because across from them, is Matt who smiles at her with amusement.

The blonde-haired beauty lifted her glass of water, took a sip, and noticed Matt glanced over at Tyler then quickly looked away. She set her glass down and stared at Matt with knowing eyes. "There was this time, freshman year, when Bonnie and I were in a fight and we swore that we would never talk again."

"I would love to hear that story sometime." Kol spoke up with interest as he placed his chin on his palm.

Matt just shakes his head. "Caroline, give it a rest." He is done with it. Not wanting to deal with his fighting drama with Tyler.

The blonde-haired beauty just sighed but let it go for now. Then she noticed Mayor Lockwood approaching Tyler who was playing pool with his cue-stick. Tyler glanced up and sighed heavily when he saw his father. "What are you doing here? I told you to go home."

"I decided not to." Tyler snipped at his father.

Mayor Lockwood snatched up his son's arm and hissed at him. "If I tell you to do something, you do it."

"Let go of me!" the young Lockwood snapped as he yanked his arm back angrily. Caroline mumbled with worry as she quickly slid off her seat and instantly went up to them. Kol nearly stumbled as he went after his human.

Caroline placed her charming smile at the Mayor as she stood next to Tyler. "Mayor, is everything okay?" she chirped. Kol glares at Mayor Lockwood with warning as this man better not start getting aggressive to his human. Matt stood up, went over and eyed the Mayor warily.

"Please Tyler, I need you to go home now." The Mayor said in a controlled temper. "Take your friends with you." He added, softening his voice.

Kol narrowed his eyes suspiciously. He has a bad feeling about this.

Matt and Caroline shared their bewildered glances. "Why? What's going on?" the Quarterback asked Tyler's father confusedly.

"I can't explain." The Mayor confessed to them while Kol stepped closer to his human. "All of you need to get home, now." Mayor Lockwood almost looked worried for them. "Please."

The young Lockwood stared at his father with surprise and knew right away that his father is serious. He nodded his head. "Yeah, okay." Tyler complied as he placed the cue-stick on the pool table.

"Here, take my car, it's on the back." Mayor Lockwood took out his car keys from his pocket and placed it in his son's palm. "Caroline, Matt, go with him." The teenagers are confused but they obeyed the Mayor as they started to leave the Mystic Grill.

"I don't like this." Kol followed his human closely as he gently touched his human hand. Caroline glanced down at her right hand where she felt the cold touch from her ghost friend. "Don't worry, we'll be fine." She whispers lowly but loud enough for Kol's hearing.

However, Kol is skeptical about this.

Mystic Falls
On the Road
Later…

The fireworks shoot up in the distance at the sky as Caroline is sitting on the passenger seat in the car with Tyler driving behind the wheels and Matt is in the backseat. Kol is sitting next to Matt but behind his human. It's been tense and uncomfortable silence in a ride for a moment until Tyler and Kol flinched in unpleasantly surprise and pain. "What the hell is that?"

"Fuck!" Kol touches his temples in pain. He bent over as he didn't like hearing this high-pitch shrilling through his head.

Caroline glanced at Tyler with confusion. "What's the matter?" she expressed her concern.

"That noise!" Tyler repeated it.

Matt furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. "Wait, what noise?"

"That disturbing wailing fucking banshee noise!" Kol roared as he did not appreciate experiencing such intense pain ringing in his mind, feeling like needles are piercing his skull slowly and non-stop. He wants them— or whatever is making this terrible noise—to stop!

The young Lockwood groaned in pain as he released one of his hands and clutched his head.

"Tyler? Tyler!" Caroline shouted in fear for her friend who is in agony.

"Dude, hey!" Matt called out as he reached for Tyler. However, Tyler's free hand came off the wheel, losing control of the car and cradled his head. "Caroline, the wheel!" The Quarterback shouted in fear as the car swerved.

Caroline instantly attempts to reach for the wheel while Tyler and Kol screamed and Matt attempts to help the young Lockwood.

The blonde-haired beauty's eyes widened in horror when she noticed at what they were heading to. "Oh my God—"

The car crashed into a wall.
