Forbes' Residence
Caroline's Bedroom
Few Days Later…

Caroline has not been leaving her house for few days and she is starting to feel anxious. At least she has Kol with her, so she isn't too bored. And it helps her that Lexi and Lee knew about the truth. She feels so blessed to have such wonderful true friends. Right now, Caroline is pacing back and forth in her bedroom while Kol is sitting on the edge of her bed, watching her. "Darling, you are going to make a hole in your floor." He pointed it out.

The blonde-haired beauty paused and frowned. "Make? Floor?" she is mumbling with contemplative. Her blue-green eyes glanced down, confused. "Are you trying to tell me something about the floor?"

Kol sighed heavily. They've been trying to figure out how to communicate properly since Caroline can only hear a bunch of random words. He knew there's miscommunication between them. Kol wishes she could hear him properly.

Alas, that Fate doesn't want to grant him that.

Luckily, Caroline is used to the cold-touch-communicate so the whole random-word-communicate will take a while for her to get used to it.

Then she heard the doorbell which she snapped her head at the door with a confused frown. The blonde-haired beauty vamp-speed out of her bedroom to the first floor. Kol cursed under his breath as he could feel the small tug from the inside. The Original quickly run out of the room, down the hallway, to descend the stairs, and halted near the bottom of the stairs. "Shit… I really don't want to black out if you are too far away from me, darling." Kol muttered as he had the displeasure to recalled that one time where he lost his consciousness when Caroline was too far away from him.

The blonde-haired beauty stood at the door, down the foyer that leads to the front door. Caroline frowns with confusion.

"Caroline?" Matt's voice called out from the outside of the front door. Caroline was surprised to hear from her friend. Kol step up to her and tilted his head with neutral curiosity, wondering why Matt is here. Kol watches his vampire step into the shade of the foyer but paused when she saw the sunlight shining down half of the foyer hall.

Another knocking. "Hey, Caroline? You're here?"

The blonde-haired beauty put her hand into the sunlight as Kol protest softly, not liking seeing her in pain. Caroline gritted her teeth as she watches her hand burned by the sunlight. She quickly retreated it to herself with disappointment. She can't cross over without the ray of light burning her. She huffed softly and lowered herself to the ground and leaned against the indoor glass doors with dispirited in the shade.

"Oh darling…" Kol muttered as he sat on the ground, across from her with his legs props up as his elbow rest on his knees.

Caroline tipped her head back against the frame. She watches the shadow of Matt outside the door where the light-white curtains are covered. "Hey, it's Matt. Umm, I thought you would be in your house, but it seems you are not there. Tyler is doing this whole thing at the swimming hole, and I thought you could hang out with us, you know? So, um… call me. Bye." Soon Matt leaves her porch before he hangs up the phone, leaving the voicemail to Caroline's phone.

The blonde-haired beauty sighed as she closes her eyes. "Am I going to spend the rest of my life like this?" she mumbled, disheartened.

"No, not for the rest of your life, sweetheart. You will get a daylight ring. I suspect that Bennett witch will make you one sooner or later." Kol muttered as he leaned forward, touch her leg with his cold fingers.

Caroline shivers as she felt the freezing touch while straightening up her spine with interest. "Witch? Sooner? Are you saying there will be a witch involves in my life or something? I mean, I know that Bonnie is a witch, but… I don't understand… aren't witches and vampires like—hate each other or something?" she asked, questioning and curious.

Kol's lips twitch as he is glad that his vampire still has curiosity in her. Although, their random-words-communicate is definitely going to take a while to get used to it.

Only You

Chapter Twenty

"Bad Moon Rising"

..

.

Later…

Kol truly admired, appreciated, respects, and likes witches. He truly does. He has met all sorts of witches through his centuries of life. There are powerful witches. Potential witches. Amazing witches. Stubborn witches. Good witches. Bad witches. Bloodthirsty witches. He met them all and treated them with respect with no matter how small or big. Hell, he even has some witches who are loyal to him and even owe him few favors. All in all, he like witches. They are fascinating and magical beings.

And he would never think that he would actually be starting to dislike Bonnie Bennett from the old and ancient powerful Bennett Coven.

The transparent ghost glares crossly at Bonnie who is standing by the bed where Caroline is sitting on top of her bed while staring at the vintage silver ring with navy-blue stone. Stefan is sitting on an empty chair in the corner of Caroline's bedroom.

The petite witch has the old grimoire in her hands with distrusted face while eyeing Caroline cautiously. The blonde-haired beauty carefully examined the ring and opened her mouth. "So, I don't get to choose the ring I have to wear the rest of my life?" she asked, disappointed.

Kol glanced at his vampire fondly.

"Hey, if you don't want it…" Bonnie raises her eyebrow, indifferently.

Stefan protest. "No, no, she wants it." He assures Bonnie before sending a look at the blonde-haired beauty.

"And meanwhile, stop acting like a little bitch to my darling, okay?" Kol sent his cold smirk at Bonnie, he doesn't like it when Bonnie is downright rude to Caroline. She doesn't deserve it. It's not her fault. Blame that on Katherine Pierce.

Caroline cleared her throat. "Now what?"

"Now is the part where I explain the rules. The witch who spells the ring has the power to de-spell it so if you ever do anything to hurt anyone—"

Caroline snapped her head at Bonnie with a hurt face. "I'm not gonna hurt anyone."

"You're a vampire." Bonnie retorted sharply and Kol glares at her. "That means the urge to kill is a part of who you are. The minute you let it take over, I will stop you."

"Bloody hell no." Kol growled. "If you even think of hurting her, I will rip your heart out and drain your blood, potential powerful witch or not."

The blonde-haired beauty gritted her teeth with a mixture of hurt and angry. "I thought we're friends."

"I can't ignore what happened, okay? If you want to be friends, you have to prove that the Caroline I remember isn't gone." Bonnie snipped with heavy frowned. "Now, put the ring on the bed." She walks to the window where the curtain is drawn.

Caroline placed the ring on the bed away from her. Her blue-green eyes shifted from the ring to Bonnie. "Do you really think I meant to kill that guy at the carnival?" she asked, wondering.

Bonnie glanced over at Caroline blankly. "He's still dead." She reminded the new vampire. "Now that's not needed, little witch." Kol snapped at Bonnie with anger. "Now, do you want me to cast the spell or not?" Bonnie raises her eyebrow, rudely.

The blonde-haired beauty shut her mouth quietly and Bonnie just nod her head. The petite witch opens a little bit of a curtain as the sun shines on the ring. Caroline curled her legs up to her chest away from the sunlight and glanced away. Kol stood next to her, closer to her as he gently feather-like touches her hand. Caroline shivers as a tiny smile appeared on her face.

Bonnie walks to the bed, eyes on the ring, and closed her eyes for a moment. It took a few minutes of silence since the witch mouthing the words until she finally opens her eyes. "All done." She picked up the ring and hand it over to Caroline.

The blonde-haired beauty opens her palm to Bonnie who dropped the ring into it. Caroline stared at her daylight ring and slide the ring in her left index finger as her mood ring is on her left middle finger. Kol is interested to see if his vampire can start to touch the sun without the burn. "So, that's it? I mean nothing witchy happened." Bonnie raised her eyebrow at her. "You know, no flickering lights, no gust of wind, no elements nor fires blazing." Caroline sarcastically said.

"Caroline…" Stefan warned the blonde-haired beauty while Kol watches her dryly amused.

The blonde-haired beauty glanced over at Stefan with a faux-innocent look. "What? I just want to make sure that it worked." While Bonnie walked over the curtains and pulled it wide open, letting the sun shines on Caroline.

Caroline yelped as she reflexively protects herself from the sun while Kol growled at the witch. "Not necessarily!" he snapped, what if the daylight ring fails and could seriously hurt his vampire?

"It worked." Bonnie dryly said with a smirk.

The blonde-haired beauty lifted her head and glares at Bonnie. "What if it hasn't Bonnie?!" she snapped.

Bonnie ignores Caroline and glances at the young Salvatore. "She's all yours." Then she left with the grimoire.

Caroline softly growls from her throat with irked that Kol thought its rather cute while Stefan sighed then smiles awkwardly at the blonde-haired beauty.

Woods
Later…

"Stefan, mate… as much as I do like you. I don't think she can handle the animal blood." Kol muttered with disgust as he thought about feeding on animal blood. Sounds very nasty and nauseating. He is walking next to Caroline who is sauntered through the woods with Stefan on her other side.

Stefan is taking Caroline out to hunting the prey for blood. "—what do I do when I see the rabbit?"

"Chase it, catch it, feed on it." The young Stefan explained simply to the blonde-haired beauty.

"Or she could find a human, compel it, feed on it, then move on." Kol suggested to Stefan, knowing it's useless except Caroline can hear some words from him.

Caroline furrowed her eyebrows as she steps over the broken branches and roots. "Isn't killing cute defenseless animals the first step in becoming a serial killer?"

"Well, you sort of skipped the serial killer and went straight to a vampire." The young Salvatore paused when he noticed how disinterested she looks. "Caroline, if you're not serious about all of this, I think you should tell me." He said with a serious face as he crossed his arms.

"No, I am." Caroline paused with a heavy sighed while Kol shoves his hands in his front pockets with curious what is bother in his vampire's mind. "Look, I swear that I am, okay? But it's just… I haven't been in the sun for days. Everyone is at the swimming hole having fun. Bonnie is not talking to me because I killed an innocent guy that she took liken to. And now you want me to eat bunnies and I'm kind of freaking out, okay?!"

Kol raises his eyebrow at her with amused and Stefan chuckled.

"And now you're laughing at me." Caroline glares at him, exasperatedly.

Stefan shakes his head. "No, no, I'm not laughing. None of this is funny, trust me. It's just that…"

"What?!" Caroline snapped, irritated as she waves her hands while Kol steps back with amusement and slight concern.

The young Salvatore cleared his throat. "When someone becomes a vampire, all of their natural behaviors get sort of amplified." He waves his hand at Caroline, calmly.

"What do you mean?" Caroline frowned with confusion while Kol is watching them with interest and entertainment.

Stefan rubbed his hands together while attempt to explain in words. "I mean… as a human I cared deeply for people, how they felt. If they were hurting, I felt their pain and I felt guilty if I was the one who caused it. And as a vampire of all that got… magnified."

Caroline stared at Stefan blankly then she slowly lifted her hand to pointed herself with cock eyebrow. "So, you're saying that now I'm basically an insecure, neurotic control freak… on crack?" she said with disbelief.

Kol chortled as Stefan's lip twitches. "Well, I wasn't gonna say it like that but…" he trails off and Caroline placed her hands on her hips with a look. "…hey listen. Let's hunt, okay? And then after that, we'll go to the swimming hole."

"Really?" Caroline perked up; she misses hanging out with her friends.

Stefan smiles as he nods his head. "Yeah. Your friends could be the closest connection that you have to your humanity, and I think that being around them is a good thing."

"Okay." The blonde-haired beauty agreed happily. Stefan nods his head with satisfied that Caroline is now on board with hunting and step ahead of her.

Kol placed his hand over his chest with a faux-offended face. "Are you saying I'm not good enough company for you, sweetheart?" he said to his vampire with a pout. And reached over to poke Caroline's forehead. Caroline made a face while shivering. "Kol…" she mumbled, slightly annoyed. Kol just grinned at her.

"Caroline?" Stefan called out to her, confused.

The blonde-haired beauty snapped her head to him with a charming smile. "Coming!" she steps forward and half of her smile falls. "Bunnies… okay." Kol snorted with dry amusement. He is curious how his vampire going to react once she gets the taste of the bunny's blood.

After a moment, Stefan crouched down before he waves his hand at Caroline to do the same. Kol is curious how the young Salvatore hunts the animal. "Aw…" the blonde-haired beauty whispered when she spotted three bunnies cuddled together near the large tree. "…do I really have to?" she couldn't harm the adorable little creatures.

"Trust me, it will help you." Stefan said and Caroline sighed with a nod. She knew she has to trust Stefan. While Kol snorted. "I doubt animal blood will help her. It might help her thirst for a short moment, but it won't last long." He muttered.

Caroline frowned with thoughtful. "Will I be fine? I won't get… too thirsty if I'm around my friends after I… eat the bunnies." She asked Stefan, just in case.

"Yes. And I'll be there." He assures her.

The blonde-haired beauty hummed with skepticism but decided to give it a shot. "So, now what?"

"Be silent. Don't let it acknowledge you. Once you get close, pounce on it and snap its neck." Stefan instructed her while Caroline made an agitated face. "Got it?"

Caroline reluctantly nods her head then starts sneakily forward while keeping her eyes out for any twigs and dried leaves.

"Have fun, sweetheart." Kol crossed his arms with amused and smirks when he noticed his vampire's unintelligible grumbling under her breath. He has a feeling Caroline knew he is mocking her. Kol watches his vampire slowly getting closer to the bunnies and immediately pounced on it. Two other bunnies immediately ran off as Caroline held up one struggle bunny. "I'm so sorry." Caroline snapped its neck and stood on her feet while carrying a dead bunny in her hand.

Stefan stood up and head over to her while Kol is curious as he continues watching his vampire bring the dead bunny to her lips but paused. "I can't believe I'm going to feed on a bunny… I feel like I just became a bug bunny's murderer." Kol smirked while Stefan just chuckled.

Caroline emerged with her fangs and sink into the bunny's neck. She took two large gulps and lowered with a face. "…the taste…" she trailed off. "…furry nasty." She decided to be truthful because God it tastes disgusting.

"Of course, it does." Kol is not surprised since animals' blood is not meant for vampires because they lack the macronutrient. Mortal blood has everything that vampires need—fat, protein, carbohydrate, and so on. This is why Kol doesn't want his vampire to be on the animal diet since she will be weak, constantly thirsty, fight for urges, and liability.

He hopes his vampire is smarter enough to learn that she can't depend on using an animal diet. It won't help her as a vampire.

Later…

Kol can't wait to see his vampire wearing a bikini soon. He really, really likes seeing her wear one because she looks absolutely sexy. He stood next to Caroline who opened the trunk of her car and reached down to grab her things.

However, the blonde-haired beauty paused when she noticed Stefan staring at Tyler's uncle driving past by. Caroline furrowed her eyebrows with curiosity. "Why are you looking at him with your serious vampire look?" she asked, curious. Kol smirks, understanding what his vampire means.

Stefan turned his head to her with confusion. "My what? My "vampire serious look"?"

"Hmm-mm. I mean it's different from your worried vampire look, neither of which stray too far from your "hey-it-Tuesday" look." Caroline said while grabbed her bag over her arm and shut down the trunk. Kol leaned against the car with interest in the conversation.

Stefan hummed with understanding. "I get it, okay. You think I'm… you think I'm too serious. Is that it?"

"Yes." Kol blunted while Caroline hummed playfully as she turned around. "I mean I was not gonna say it like that but…" she mockingly repeated his earlier words at him with a joking smile then she walked into the party with Stefan followed her with an amused smile.

After few minutes when Caroline found a spot that she claimed hers, she placed her bags on it and scanned around while Stefan decided to observe the surrounding. Her blue-green eyes found one of her friends which she sauntered toward them.

"Hey Matt." Caroline greeted her friend who is talking to a short pretty girl. "Oh, hey Amy."

Amy waves at the blonde-haired beauty friendly. "Hi. How are you feeling?" she asked, politely concerned.

"I'm good, thank you for asking." Caroline answered while Kol glances at the mortal girl with boredom.

Amy nodded her head and turned her head to Matt with a hopeful smile. "So?"

"Uh… I don't know. Maybe. We'll see." Matt said, unsure with a shy smile.

The girl just smiles. "Okay. How about I'll let you think about it, and you can tell me later before the sunset?" Matt nods his head. "Good. See you later." She turned around and left them with a hopeful smile.

"Hmmm…" Caroline smiles at her friend with wiggle eyebrows. "…sounds like someone has a crush on you." She sang happily. While Kol just exaggerates yawned disinterested.

The Quarterback just chuckled. "Uh, no. First, how about you tell me is that why haven't you been trying to call back? Even Tyler called you a couple of times." He said with concern.

"Wait what? That little shit trying to call you?" Kol raises his eyebrow at his vampire, he didn't know Tyler Lockwood called her cell. He wasn't fond of Tyler since something about that guy rubs him wrong.

The blonde-haired beauty made a wincing face. "I'm so sorry. I got held up." Which is the truth since she got held up in her house to protect herself from being burnt to death. Luckily, now that she has her daylight ring, she is free. "But I'm here now." She did jazz hands which Matt huffed but grinned at her.

The Original sighed loudly. "Yes, we're all here. Yay. Now please put on some bikini." He really wants to see his vampire wearing a swimsuit.

Caroline twitches as her smile turned sharply. "Hey, will you go get me some beer? I'm gonna go grab my bags." Matt nodded his head and left her to fetch her a cup of beer.

The blonde-haired beauty walks back to the location where she put her bags. "Kol… please tell me that you are not a pervert." She whispered, with hope.

Kol just stared at her with amusement silently and Caroline closed her eyes. "Of course… I ended up having a ghost friend who turned out to be a pervert. Wonderful." She dryly added and the Original sniggered.

.

.

.

Kol was oh-so-disappointedly that his vampire didn't put on her bikini. He was sulking as the sun starts to set and Stefan informed Caroline that they should leave for his house. So, Caroline bid her farewell to her friends and went to her car.

Stefan sat on the passenger seat while Caroline is behind the wheels and Kol is sitting in the backseat, shoulders slumped while childishly pouted. His vampire denied his right to view her wearing her sexy swimsuit. It was unfair in his opinion.

Then the phone rang which Stefan took out from his pocket and answered. "Hey, Elena."

"Hi. Listen we've learned some stuff here and I know it's gonna sound crazy, but I wanted to fill you in." Elena's voice sounds worried. Caroline glanced at Stefan with confused then back to the road.

"What's up?" Stefan lowered his phone and put it on speaker. Kol perked up with interest.

Elena sighed through the phone. "We found out that there's some kind of legend, Aztec about this curse of the sun and the moon." Kol narrowed his eyes at this piece of info that sounds familiar to him. "About six hundred years ago, the Aztecs were plagued by werewolves and vampires. They terrorized the countryside, made farming and hunting impossible until an Aztec shaman cursed them, making vampires slaves to the sun and werewolves' servants of the moon. As a result, vampires could only prowl at night and werewolves could only turn on a full moon. When the full moon crests in the sky, who are ever unlucky enough to fall under the werewolf curse turns into a wolf."

Kol snorted. "Okay that legend is full of bullshit." He recalled this legend before but never pay attention to it because it's one of the false ridiculously made-up stories.

Caroline mouthed her word to Stefan with surprise. "Werewolves?" Stefan just raises his eyebrow at her with astonishment.

"I don't know what that means or if we should even believe it but it's a full moon tonight, Stefan. After what you saw Mason Lockwood do…" Elena trailed off with worried and fear.

Stefan nods his head even though Elena couldn't see him. "I'll be careful." He assures his concerned girlfriend.

"There's one more thing."

"What is it?"

Elena released a heavy sighed. "According to the legend, a werewolf bite can kill a vampire."

"That part is true." Kol confesses easily. Caroline's eyes widen in shock while Stefan blinked in surprise.

"Well, Caroline and I are heading back to my place. So, I'll see you when you get home, okay?"

"Okay. Bye." Stefan said his farewell as well and they both hang up.

Silence in the car for a short moment until Caroline exploded. "Werewolves?! Freaking werewolves are real?!" she snapped, astonished and disbelieved. "What's next? Freaking mermaids and fairies?!"

"Unfortunately, they aren't real, sweetheart." Kol speaks up, indifferently.

Before anyone knew it, her car hit something which the car jerked, and Caroline stopped the car. They can hear the animal whimpered in pain. "Oh my God. I—I didn't mean to." The blonde-haired beauty quickly got out and Stefan followed while Kol instantly rushed to his vampire's side.

Caroline rushed to the front of her car but there was nothing. "W-what?" she darts around to see any wound animal but none while Stefan observed the woods with warily.

Kol has a bad feeling about this.

"B-but… I did hit something, right?" the blonde-haired beauty asked, hoping she wasn't crazy.

Then a deep growling was heard behind them. Slowly, they turn around and saw a wolf with blazing golden-yellow eyes. It was standing between them and the car. The wolf growled louder as it steps forward when they stepped back.

"Caroline…" Stefan whispers while Kol steps closer to his vampire and brushes his fingers against hers. Caroline shivers as her blue-green eyes stay on the wolf. "…we need to run. Okay? Run as fast you can."

Caroline nods her head and starts running as Stefan runs in the opposite woods. Kol curses as he felt a sharp painful tug from his inside and black spots in his vision. However, Caroline didn't make it far because she tripped over a root and fell on the wet cold leaf-covered ground.

The blonde-haired beauty yelped in shock. Kol gritted his teeth, stumbled his way over to his vampire blindly because somehow, he knew where to reach Caroline.

Once Kol finally reached her, the pain fades away and his visions return to him. Much to his relief until it fades when he saw a wolf growling at Caroline as it's on her. Caroline turned her face away from the wolf as its salvias cover her neck while she has her hands against its furry chest.

Suddenly, the werewolf was pushed away by Stefan who used vamp-speed with his super strength. The wolf growled aggressively at Stefan. "Caroline… run to the car and I'll lead this wolf somewhere far away, got it?"

"Y-yeah…" the blonde-haired beauty replied quietly with fear. Kol went to her side and bend down while quickly examined her. He is relieved that the werewolf didn't bite her which means she is safe for now. Soon, Stefan runs off in the distance and the wolf is chased after him.

"Come on, darling. You need to leave." Kol insisted as he taps his vampire's hand.

Caroline quickly moved to her feet and start jogging her way out of the woods to the road. She instantly went to her car, climbed behind the wheel, and shut the door. "Oh my God…" she clenched onto the wheel and leaned her forehead against it. "Oh my God…" Kol is sitting at the back but pushed himself forward as he watches his vampire with concern.

The passenger door open which Caroline yelped in fear as she jerked back and slumped her shoulders with relief. "Oh… it's you."

Stefan has returned safely. "Hey… start the car. We need to head to the boarding house. Now." Caroline bobbled her head with a mixture of frightened, nervous, anxious, and stressed.

Caroline starts the car. "You know…" she licks her dry lips nervously. "…it's a good thing that I don't have to worry about getting any stress wrinkles since I'm now forever seventeen." She attempts to lighten up the horror mood.

Kol half-chuckled humorlessly with fond eyes. "Only you would try to make your near-death experiences into a positive thing, darling." He mumbled; he doesn't think he can handle seeing his vampire going through a near-death door again.

The young Salvatore just chuckled awkwardly.

Salvatore Boarding House
Later…

Caroline, Stefan, and Kol sauntered inside the boarding house quietly. "I still can't believe werewolves are real…" the blonde-haired beauty mumbled, disbelieved.

"Well… everyone is lucky enough that wolf didn't kill them." Stefan said while Kol snorted humorlessly.

"You have no idea, mate." Kol had experiences with werewolves. Let just say, humans are very indeed lucky to get away from being kill by the dangerous creature.

They turned to the corner in the living room but halted when they saw a familiar female who is sitting comfortably on the overstuffed chair. She has long dark-blonde hair tied to a side ponytail, hazel-green eyes, tanned skin, and wears a white crop top, with a black leather jacket over it, black skinny jeans, and black booties. The vampires and the Original immediately recognized her.

"Lexi?!"

Lexi lifted her hand and wiggles her fingers with a friendly smirk on her face. "Hi."
