Salvatore Boarding House
Few Days Later…

It has been few days ever since Caroline's mother was trapped in the basement, for the vervain to leave her systems before she could be free. Lexi and Lee have been teaching her everything about vampires and their histories. The tips, advice, and tricks are taught to Caroline by her two vampire friends. The blonde-haired beauty was beyond grateful and happy to have them with her while Kol was pleased yet jealous.

The wild Original was glad that Caroline won't be unprepared for the vampire lifestyle, however, he can't help but feel jealous that he won't teaching his vampire. Currently, right now, Lexi is in the kitchen with Caroline as they are chatting while drinking their coffee.

"So, this masquerade party thing will be happening in two nights?" Lexi asked, interested.

Caroline nods her head. "Yeah. You and Lee should come." She said excitedly before she took a sip from her coffee.

The dark-blonde vampire hummed with contemplative while she lightly tapping her finger against her coffee mug. "Maybe." She wouldn't mind having an experience with that type of party with her long-term boyfriend. "You mention that it will be the entire night?" the blonde-haired beauty nods her head, confirmed that she is correct. "I'll talk to Lee about it… It has been over three hundred years since I've done some mask party… I think I was human at that time." Lexi muttered, attempt to remembered.

"Really?" the blonde-haired beauty perked up with intrigue while Kol hummed neutrally as he is leaning his back against the wall with his arms crossed.

Lexi nodded her head. "Yeah, I think it was some kind of tradition in the village… ah yeah. Now I remembered. It was a pre-courting tradition. For all ages of young men and women who has to wear masks to interact. It was not all about the appearance, it was about who you are on the inside that sparks interest in a partner." She explained, softly with a nostalgic smile.

"Oh? Did you find someone?" Caroline asked, curious.

The dark-blonde vampire lifted her mug to her lips. "…I did. But I was to focus on my brother since he was terribly ill at that time. He wouldn't understand why I never pay attention to his affection… so he left to find another gal." Caroline looked offended for Lexi while Kol frowned. "His loss." He commented.

"Agreed." Caroline nods her head as she agreed with her ghost friend while Lexi raises her eyebrow as she sipped some coffee from her mug. "Kol said 'loss' which I assumed he meant by whoever that jerk was, it was his loss." The blonde-haired beauty smiles widely. "Plus, you and Lee are so cute together."

Lexi chuckled as she lowered her mug. "Thank you. What about you? Is there any boy that caught your attention?" Kol snapped his gaze at his vampire with tense muscles.

"Nope." Caroline shook her head, there wasn't anyone who caught her eyes and Kol's muscles relaxes with relief and content. Lexi carefully examined the blonde-haired beauty thoughtfully. "Well, I'm going to check on my mom." Caroline finished her coffee and slipped off the stool. She walked around the island to the sink to put the empty mug down.

The blonde-haired beauty sends her friendly smile at Lexi and left the kitchen room with Kol follow her. While Lexi hummed as she watches Caroline out of her sight. "I wonder if it's because of that ghost boy?" she whispered under her breath with curiosity and interest.

Who knows what will happen to Caroline's love life?

Salvatore Boarding House
Basement

The blonde-haired beauty stood in front of the door while taking few breathers. She attempts to courage herself to face her mother once again. While Kol is watching his vampire's edgy and nervous clearly showing on her face. He reached to gently brush his finger against her cheek. "You'll be alright, darling. I'm here." He muttered; he won't let her face her mother alone.

Caroline shivers as a warm smile appeared on her face. "Thank you, Kol." She whispered, grateful. Kol half-smirk at her then dropped his hand. The blonde-haired beauty exhaled her last breath then unlocked the door that led to a cot where her mother has been staying inside for few days.

She pulled it open and step inside with a shy smile on her face when her blue-green eyes landed on her mother who is sitting on the bed with a discomfort frown. Caroline walks further in as she is glad to see her mother's physically fine. Until her gaze spotted a tray of food that was left untouched. Her smile dropped instantly while Kol leaned against the door quietly. "You didn't eat much." Caroline pointed it out with an awkward smile as she placed her hand on the back of the chair.

Uncomfortable and awkward silence in the cot since Liz didn't respond nor looking at her. The blonde-haired beauty cleared her throat then continue faux-smile on her face. "Good news, Lexi said the vervain is almost out of your system. So, with any luck, you'll be freshly compelled and back in your own bed by tonight." She said, hoping to get any reaction from her mother.

Once again, Liz didn't answer as her eyes stay on the ground. Kol tutted as Caroline sighed. "Are you really just gonna pretend like I don't exist?"

"Yes." Liz shifted her gaze to Caroline. "So please, go."

The blonde-haired beauty's breathe intake sharply then jerk her head. "As usual, you don't care." She grabbed the tray and turned around with disappointment and hurt in her blue-green eyes. Kol softens at her, as he doesn't like seeing her distress. "Got it. Just like before I was a vampire." Caroline step closer to the door and glanced over to her mother. "It's not like I died or anything." Kol step aside when his vampire opened the door.

"Are you—" Caroline paused before she could walk out. "—are you really dead?" Liz choked sadly as her eyes teary at her.

Caroline's lips pressed together and turned her head to her mother. "Yes and no."

"How is it possible?" her mother asked, disbelieved and baffled. The blonde-haired beauty sighed softly then shut the door. Kol knew this is his vampire's chance to clear the misunderstandings between the mother and daughter.

Living-Room
Meanwhile…

Lexi and Lee are sitting on the couch while they are listening to the conversation between Damon, Alaric, and Jeremy about the moonstone. Lee tilted his head over to his girlfriend with a raised eyebrow with questioning eyes.

The dark-blonde vampire just shook her head at him in response. And turned her hazel-green eyes back to them quietly.

"An Aztec curse? Cool." Jeremy said as he sat on the armchair with interest.

Alaric took out one of the books from the box that he set down on the table. While Damon looked through the files and books inside the box. "Yeah, supposedly vampires and werewolves used to roam freely until a shaman put a curse on them to limit their power. Since then, werewolves can only turn on a full moon, and vampires are weakened by the sun."

"Most of them, anyway." Damon speaks up as he wiggles his fingers, showing his daylight ring.

The hunter continues. "According to the legend, the werewolf part of the curse is sealed with the moonstone." He took out a map and show it to Damon as Jeremy stood up and walked over to take a peek.

"What do you mean sealed?" The young Gilbert grabbed the map not unkindly and studied the pictures that show the story of the Sun and the Moon curse.

The older Salvatore answered this time. "It's a witch thing, whatever seals the curse is usually the key to unsealing the curse."

"Maybe Mason Lockwood believes he can use the moonstone to break the curse." Alaric said, with a shrug.

Damon narrowed his eyes as he sipped from his scotch glass. "If we start believing in some supernatural witchy-woo legend from a picture book, we're idiots. Who has the stone now?" he asked Jeremy with curiosity.

"Tyler." Jeremy answered easily while examined the map.

"Can you get it?"

The young Gilbert paused, glanced over with contemplative then nod his head. "Yeah."

Damon smirk. "See, now your life has purpose."

"So, you do believe it?" the young Gilbert asked with confusion.

The older Salvatore huffed and took another sip from his alcohol. "It's the same book that says a werewolf bite kills a vampire. Ignoring it would make me an even bigger idiot." He steps forward while Jeremy refolded the map and put it inside the box. "Let's go."

Two nightwalkers watched them leaving the house as they waited until they are out of hearing shots. Lee tilted his head. "We are not going to explain them?"

"No." Lexi shook her head as she leaned back against the couch with her arms crossed. "I don't trust Damon. They don't have any experiences with werewolves before and they have no idea what the werewolves are capable of." Her shoulders tense. "If I tell them… I…" she trailed off nervously. "I…I can't allow any harm to them. They didn't do anything wrong."

Lee wrapped his arms around her, comforting her, and pecks her head gently. "I understand. And this Mason Lockwood guy?"

The dark-blonde vampire bit her inner cheek with conflict. "…all I can say is, let's hope that idiot won't cause too much damage to a werewolf."

"What if he did?" the dark-haired vampire asked, curious.

Lexi's jaw tightens as her gaze lowered, quietly. Lee just accepted her silence as an answer and continue comforting his girlfriend.

Basement
Later…

Kol has been entertaining himself to figure out one hundred ways to torture two vampires that were made in his must-kill list with just a fork. His mind went wild and creatively morbid to the point that it is messy and bloody. Just the way he likes it. Kol wondered if his vampire is still explaining to her mother about the history of vampires. The wild Original tune in as his visions cleared on Caroline who is sitting on a chair, facing her mother. "—I mainly drink from blood bags. It's not as good as the fresh stuff but it beats the animal blood that Stefan's been trying to get me to drink." She spoke.

"Of course it's better than filthy junk blood." Kol snorted. "I'm glad Lexi and Lee taught you to turn on blood bag, otherwise that bloke won't give up convince you to drink furry bunnies." He muttered to himself.

Liz narrowed her eyes thoughtfully. "So, you steal the blood from the hospital?"

"Damon does. I've been pilfering his supply, so…" Caroline shrugged her shoulder, shamelessly which Kol smirks with pride. He totally loves it when he watched his vampire stealing the soon-to-be-dead vampire's supplies. Even Lexi and Lee joined it for amusement… and they also encouraged Caroline to continue rob older Salvatore's supply.

Does Kol feel guilty?

Hell no.

Is he proud?

Fuck yes.

"And as long as you have blood, you don't need to kill?" Liz asked, curious and Caroline sighed while Kol raises his eyebrow at the Sheriff. "No vampires can't not kill." He stated as it's a fact.

"I want to." Caroline confessed sheepishly and Kol smirked widely. "It's my basic nature now. But, on a healthy diet, I can control it." —"Which I find it bloody astonished on how you can control well as a baby vampire, darling."— "I'm getting better at it. I'm better than Stefan." —"You got that right, sweetheart." — "He's a bit of a problem drinker. A blood-aholic." She half-smile softly.

Liz watches her daughter quietly then leaned forward with a sincere sad frown on her face. "I don't want this for you."

"I know…" her mother stared at her with teary eyes. "…but when life gives you lemons…" Caroline trailed off with weakly giggles while the Sheriff just chuckled softly. Kol tilted his head as he continues watching them.

Caroline tilted her head slightly for a short moment. "…Damon's home." She glanced up with a thought out loud.

"…you could hear that?" Liz asked, amazed and curious before she attempts to hear anything but none whatsoever.

Caroline turned her gaze to her mother with a small genuine smile. The blonde-haired beauty nodded her head. "There's so much more than I can hear things from the long distance."

"You got that right, darling." Kol agreed with his vampire.

The blonde-haired beauty straightens up her spine as she cocked her head once again. "I have to go." Her gaze went to her confused mother. "I'll come by later." Caroline promised Liz and quickly stood up and leave the cot as fast as possible at her human pace. Kol instantly went hot on her tail.

"What's the rush?" the wild Original asked, curious.

Caroline quickly running upstairs. "It's Bonnie." She whispered when she heard the word from her ghost friend. Kol raises his eyebrow questioning but continues to follow her.

.

.

.

The blonde-haired beauty left the basement through the door into the hallway and quickly rush down the hallway until she caught up to Bonnie who is quickly walking toward the front doors. "Hey!" Caroline called out, hopeful and anxious.

Bonnie stopped, turned around, and looks at her in surprise. "Hi." Caroline smiles shyly with a weak wave while Kol doesn't like it to see nervous Caroline around her friends. It's unnatural for him to see it. "How's your mom? Elena filled me in on everything."

"Oh, did she?" Kol is snarky as he shoves his hands into his pockets with sour.

Caroline took few steps forward. "I'm gonna take her home tonight."

"…Caroline… uh…" Bonnie is hesitant then shakes her head. "Nevermind, I've got to go." The witch turned to leave but the blonde-haired beauty stopped her.

"Did you find the moonstone thing?" Caroline wants to mend her friendship with Bonnie, as much as Bonnie's words really hurt her before. She can't help but miss her best friend.

The witch shakes her head. "Not yet." Then she turned her olive-green eyes to Caroline thoughtfully. "Hey, do you remember that old well where we used to play when we were kids?"

"Well?" Kol perked up, with interest. Surely, he vaguely recalled the old well before he was an Original, that well should be long dried. So, it's not the same well, right?

Caroline nodded her head with a smile. Bonnie continued. "It's in the woods. Do you remember where?"

"On the edge of the old Lockwood property. Why?" Caroline asked the last part with curiosity.

Bonnie took out her phone to text. "I think that's where Mason is keeping the moonstone. I got to go."

"Well, I can come with you." Caroline speaks up before the witch leaves.

Bonnie turned her head at Caroline awkwardly. "No, it's okay." Kol narrowed his eyes at Bonnie, not liking how she continue hurting his vampire. Caroline's blue-green eyes filled with hurt and disappointment. The witch stared at her for a moment then smiles slightly. "Sure." She changed her answer.

Caroline shifted her eyes up at Bonnie with sparkle and smiles spread on her face. "Okay." She said with relief. Kol is unintelligible under his breath while glares at the witch. He still doesn't like the Bennett witch.

Woods
Later…

Caroline and Bonnie sauntered through the woods along with Kol who is walking next to his vampire. There was a slight discomfort atmosphere between them for a moment. Kol could've sworn that you can cut it with a rusty knife with such a heavy atmosphere. "A-are you still… upset with me?" Caroline speaks up, nervously as she gracefully steps over the roots.

"…it's been barely two weeks." Bonnie answered, awkwardly while crushing dried leaves under her sandals.

Kol rolled his eyes while Caroline sighed heavily. "We never talk about it. You barely even talk to me after I became a vampire." The blonde-haired beauty blunted, decide to confront her witch friend.

Bonnie didn't glance at Caroline as her gaze determined stared head of her in the woods. "I told you. You need to prove to me that you are still you."

Caroline paused and sharply glares at Bonnie. "I knew you are a real witch about two months ago." Bonnie halted and stared at her in surprise. "I saw you, Bonnie. I saw you and your Grams at that old Church. Doing whatever magic mumbo jumbo at the weird door." The witch's eyes widen in shock. "And guess what? I didn't care about that. I don't care if you have a black cat following you around in the dark, I don't care if you have warts on your nose, nor fly on the broomstick while cackling like a hyena. I don't care any of that because you are my best friend." She confessed, firmly.

Kol didn't expect his vampire would spit out all the truth right at this moment. Caroline continued. "Yeah, I admitted that I was hurt and disappointed at first. But then, I realized that you did try to tell me but I never listen to you. I should have. But that doesn't matter anymore, because right here, right now?" Caroline pointed at the ground with a determined glint in her blue-green eyes. "I know. I accepted it. It's part of you now." Bonnie stared at her quietly.

Caroline sighed loudly as she shakes her head. "So… why can't you just accept that I'm a vampire and support me? Help me get through this lifestyle? I didn't choose this vampire life with my own content. I was murdered by Katherine. I didn't have a choice." The blonde-haired beauty reminded Bonnie who looked guilty and ashamed. "Please don't treat me like I'm a monster that took over Caroline Forbes' body. I am Caroline. I am her. This is me. Just… with fangs and cravings for blood to survive." She ended with a lighter tone as hope lit in her eyes.

"…Caroline…" Bonnie whispered as her olive-green eyes darken with remorse.

Kol is glad to see his vampire started to speak for herself. Then suddenly, Caroline's jerked her head over the wood in the distance. The wild Original frowned at her with wondering what his vampire is hearing while Bonnie furrowed her eyebrows with confusion. "Caroline?"

"…something's wrong." The blonde-haired beauty muttered with concern and suddenly, she vanished in vamp-speed ahead.

"Shit!" Kol nearly faints as his visions gotten blurry as the sharp tug from his gut hurts him. Bonnie called out the blonde-haired beauty's name but got nothing response. So, the witch quickly running and Kol followed his instinct blindly. He was lucky enough that the distance wasn't too far, otherwise, he will seriously blackout for real. Kol knew he can't continue doing this, can't keep quiet about it.

He needs to inform his vampire about the distance between them. He doesn't want to experience the agony if Caroline kept using her vampire speed in a faraway distance.

The wild Original feels like it's been hours for him to finally reach for his vampire when in reality, it's only been five minutes as his visions starting to clear and the pain fades away. Kol almost instantly spotted the blonde-haired beauty who is holding the chain that was wrapped around Elena who is standing at the edge of the well.

"what the bloody hell is going on?" Kol muttered, surprised and slightly disordered. Bonnie rushes up to them at the well with puzzled and worried. "What's going on?" the witch glanced at Caroline. "You just took off in a blur."

Caroline adjusted the chain in her hands. "I head Elena screaming. Help her, now." Kol stumbled toward his vampire and leaned against the well. He blinked dazedly; attempt to understand what the bloody hell was going on. He watches Bonnie helped Elena to lower the brunette inside the well. "…is that Stefan?" Kol narrowed his eyes, attempt to see the barely body that was floating in the water.

"Are you ready?" Elena nods her head at Caroline who slowly reels the chain that was tied around Elena, down inside. Kol blinked few times until Caroline loses hold of the chain for a second but grabbed it just in time. "Sorry!" Caroline weakly apologized with a wincing face.

Elena's voice echoed from the well while Bonnie peeks down with concern. "It's okay, keep going. Come on!"

Caroline and Bonnie glanced at each other and the blonde-haired beauty continues to lower Elena down further in the well.

Then they heard Elena's shouted in distraught shock. "Oh, oh my God."

"Elena, what's going on down there?" Caroline called out while holding the chain with worried.

It was a short tense moment until… "Pull him up!" Elena ordered, hurriedly.

Caroline starts to pull the chair up from the well as fast as possible with her vampire superstrength. Kol briefly admired his vampire's confidence in her strength. Then soon, Stefan appeared in a bloody mess which them. "Oh my God…" Bonnie gasped and grabbed Stefan out of the well. Caroline immediately helped him and placed him on the ground.

"Bloody hell… I recognized this well." Kol almost forgot about this well. It's the vervain well that over a thousand years ago, villagers threw vervain plants into the water so they could drink it to avoid the vampires. Kol didn't expect to see this well exist over many centuries. He glanced over to Stefan with a slight wince. "You obviously do not look good, mate." He muttered, knowing that Stefan's healing is very agonizingly slow since he is on the animal diet.

Caroline dropped the chain in the well. "Elena? Ready for you!" she holds the chain.

"Hold on! I need to find the stone." Bonnie and Caroline glanced at each other.

Kol got to admit, whoever's idea was to drop the moonstone inside the vervain well is brilliant bloody genius. He knew none of his siblings will fetch it themselves. Kol slowly examined the well with new perspectives. There are many things he could hide important things inside of this vervain well, he filed it away for later. Who knows, it would come in handy.

"I think I found it!" After a short silence, Elena screamed in frightened

Caroline peeks down worried along with Bonnie while Kol lazily stared up at the sky, disinterested. "Elena! What's going on?!"

"I got it. Come on! Bring me up!" Caroline quickly reels Elena up until the brunette reached safely, Bonnie helps her to move over the edge of the well and took the box from Elena's hands. The brunette looked down and saw Stefan on the ground. She jumped off the well, went to his side, and cradles his head under her arm. "Stefan! Stefan!" she tried to wake him up.

"Bloody hell, are you an idiot or not?! Give him blood!" Kol snapped at Elena, exasperatedly.

Caroline heard her ghost friend's words. "Give him some blood." She offered her advice to Elena.

The doppelgänger blinked at the blonde-haired beauty then shakily nod her head. Her eyes scanned around until she spotted a sharp rock. She grabbed it, cut her hand with it, and places her bleeding wound in Stefan's mouth. After a few minutes, Stefan opens his eyes and starts drinking the blood.

Caroline and Bonnie are relieved to see that young Salvatore is healing while Elena continues comforting her boyfriend with a warm voice.

Kol huffed loudly but he was relieved to see Stefan is finally getting better.

Salvatore Boarding House
Meanwhile…

Lexi is leaning against the wall with her arms crossed with a blank face, in the corridor where she is listening to the older Salvatore torturing Mason Lockwood for hours. She slowly closed her eyes and tipped her head back. Jeremy already left a few minutes ago as he couldn't stand watching the vampire torture a helpless werewolf.

"You know, I look at you I see myself. A less dashing, less intelligent version."

"I love her!"

"Oh, I know! I've been where you are. But Katherine will only rip your heart out. Let me do it for her."

The sound of crush, thud, and silence was heard in the end. Lexi opens her eyes and sighs softly. She noticed her long-term boyfriend who quietly descended the stairs with understanding eyes. Lexi nods her head at him.

Lee nods back and they both walked to the living room. They saw Damon dropped the heart on the cover and looked up at them. "What?" Damon raised his eyebrow calmly as if he didn't take out the heart from the dead werewolf's chest.

"I'll take care of the body." The dark-haired vampire easily volunteers. "I'm an expert at it." He half-jokily and went to the corpse to take off the chains.

Damon steps back with a nod. "I see… thank you." He whispered and shifted his icy-blue eyes to blank Lexi. "See, I'm fine. I guess werewolf isn't stronger nor dangerous." He commented with a smug smirk as he wiggly his bloody hand. "Now, if you both excuse me. I need to wash off all these filthy dog blood off." He sauntered out of his living room silently.

Lexi made a disgusted face at Damon's back then turned her attention to her boyfriend who finished removes the chains. Then Lee dragged the body down to the ground and pushed the chair away. Slowly yet effortlessly wrapped the sheet around the body. "You know what to do." Lexi said, solemnly to Lee who nods his head.

Lee picked up the body over his shoulder and walked out.

"…looks like I won't be able to go to the masquerade party, Linnie." Lexi muttered, disappointedly.

Later…

Kol watches his vampire fondly who is sitting on the bed across from her mother as she is retelling the event that has been happening to her. "—so I pulled Stefan out of this well and he's all vervained and just rotted, but Bonnie wasn't mean to me once and I just—I really think it's progress, you know? I just… what?" Caroline paused when she noticed Liz staring at her with baffled. Caroline's smile fades. "I'm freaking you out."

"It's just that you've become this person…" Liz trailed off with contemplative while Kol narrowed his eyes at her warningly.

"Don't." Caroline doesn't want to hear such negative words from her mother's mouth. "Don't. We… we're just starting to get along."

However, her mother ignores her as a small smile broke on her face. "…this strong, this confident person." Caroline and Kol were surprised.

"Oh… thank you." Caroline whispered with shock, pleased, and relief while Kol smirks.

Liz tilted her head and leaned forward as she takes her daughter's hands. "You don't have to take my memories away. I'll keep your secret. Look, if you're worried about them, just say you compelled me. I won't tell. I cannot do anything to hurt you." She promised.

Kol glanced at his vampire, knowing this is her real chance to have a real bonding moment with her mother. Caroline smiles at her mother. "We never talk like this. Ever. And today meant so much to me."

"Me too." The Sheriff agreed, happy to have a moment to finally get along with her daughter for once.

Caroline squeezes her mother's hands as she carefully examined her mother's proud face. "I know I can trust you, but you're never going to trust them." Her blue-green eyes were teary as they dilated to her mother's eyes. "I'm going to take you home. You're going to forget that I'm a vampire."

"Are you sure about this, sweetheart?" Kol mumbled, worried for his vampire.

Liz robotic repeated. "I'm going to forget that you're a vampire."

"You'll remember you got sick with the flu. You had a fever, chills, and ickiness, but I made you soup… and it was really salty." Caroline weakly chuckled. "We bickered. You got better and then your selfish little daughter… who loves you no matter what, went right back to ignoring you and all is right in the world." She cries softly while squeezes her mother's hands one last time.

Kol closed his eyes. "Oh darling…" his undead sank for his vampire. He knew this emotionally hurt Caroline a lot.

Outside of Mystic Falls
Later…

Lexi is driving behind the wheels in the car while Lee is sitting in the passenger seat. They've been quiet for a while until her cell phone rang. Lee reached for it, picked it up from Lexi's pocket, and glanced at the ID. "It's Sweetcheeks." He answered. "Hey!"

"Lee! Hi, where's Lexi?" Caroline's voice was heard easily with concern and wondering.

"Sorry, Linnie. Lee and I have a friend emergency, so we had to leave. I'm so sorry." Lexi was truly apologetic; she wishes she and her boyfriend could stay in Mystical Falls longer. Alas, they couldn't afford to avoid the emergency.

Caroline hummed with understanding. "Oh? I hope it's not too awful."

Lee grinned. "Don't worry about it, Sweetcheeks. A friend of ours just needs a lot of our help. And I know that Lexi and I regrettably, going to miss the masquerade party. It's a damn shame." Lexi agreed with him.

"Yeah… that's a shame. But there's always next time since I have forever so… we will all go to a fun party and make memories." Lexi and Lee smile as they adore Caroline because she is so sweet and understanding. "I will keep update to you both on anything that happens in Mystic Falls, now that I don't have to keep a secret anymore."

"That's true." Lexi said, happily. She likes to have free-stressful and free secrets with her friends, it brings them a lot closer. "How's your mom, by the way?"

"It's… fine. I compelled my mom to forget I'm a vampire and she has her trust with the Salvatore brothers so… we are all good." Lee glanced over at his girlfriend with a raised eyebrow in skepticism. They both could easily hear the sadness in her tone. Lexi shook her head, decided to leave it alone for now. "Speaking of that, I need to take my mom home. So, I'll call you later?"

"Of course, have a good night, Sweetcheeks!" Lee said his farewell and Lexi called out her love to Caroline as well. Caroline bit her farewell and the call hang up.

Lee pocketed Lexi's phone in his pocket and glanced backseat thoughtfully. "How's he?" Lexi asked her boyfriend as her eyes are on the road.

"He's breathing. Barely made it through. However, in his condition, it will take him about a year or maybe two to be fully healed." Lee said as his dark eyes examined the body.

Lexi huffed as she shakes her stray hair away from her face. "Of course. His heart was torn out. You managed to put it back inside of his chest just in time before it was too late." Her hazel-green eyes shifted over the rearview mirror.

Mason Lockwood is in the backseat, with his covered bloody bandages around his torso as his chest is heaving up and down slowly.
