Outdoor – Booster Club Barbecue
Next Day…
The students and teachers are gathering outdoor in the school building to preparing the event of the Booster Club Barbecue. The loud rock music is heard from the distance, and there is chatter and cheering from students. The place was filled with excitement and happiness. However, there is one student who isn't happy as he was rather upset and lonely. Matt sighed heavily as he is stacking up the plastic cups on the table. He hasn't been hanging out with his friends lately and he misses them.
He wishes he could find them and talk to them, spend time with them. Caroline is one of his good friends—she is a fun person to hang out with. Matt also misses his best friend, Tyler. When was the last time they even play sport together for fun?
Matt was in his own world until someone accidentally bumped. He snapped out of it as the plastic cups fall to the ground. "Oh my God! I'm so sorry!" a feminine speaks up with an apologetic tone. Matt's bright blue eyes dart at the pretty girl who looks at him with guilty.
She has long, wavy blonde hair and green eyes. She has an athletic build and is somewhat tall but a bit shorter than him. She pushed the long strand of her hair back behind her ear. "I—I wasn't watching where I was going…" she bends down to pick up the cups.
"Oh! No, no. It's okay." Matt assures her as he lowers down to gather the other cups.
The pretty girl smiles shyly at Matt with a wince. "I hope I didn't ruin the cup?" she pats the dirt off from one of the plastic cups.
Matt's lip twitches to a soft smile. "It's fine. We… we have a lot." He said, a bit amused at how guilty the girl obviously felt. "They are just plastic cheap cups. Easily affordable from the store." He added.
"…that's… good." The girl chuckled with a bit of relief and feel silly. After they gathered all the cups, they both stood up and she handed him the rest of the cups. "Again. I'm sorry." She apologized once more.
The Quarterback just shakes his head. "It's fine." He carefully observed her for a moment. "…you look familiar?"
"Ah… that's because I was… I used to be a candidate for Miss Mystic Falls." The girl informed him and made a playful wince on her face. "But I skipped it because I was too… much of a chicken." Then her eyebrow furrowed. "And I was attacked by a wild animal."
Matt's eyes widen in surprise. "Oh wow…" the girl nodded her head sagely. "Are you okay?" he asked, empathically.
"Yeah. Perfectly healed and emotionally well." She said with a gentle smile. "Sorry, what's your name?" she asked, curious.
"Matt. Matt Donovan." He held up his hand to her.
The girl accepted his hand and shake it. "Amber Bradley." Amber introduced herself politely.
"It's nice to meet you, Amber." Matt couldn't help but feel a pull by her pretty warm eyes and cute smile.
Amber giggled shyly. "You too." Before they both knew, they start having animatedly chatting while Amber helps Matt setting up the plastic cups on tables.
Meanwhile, somewhere where Caroline is checking the event to make sure there weren't any problems as it was her duty as a Vice President in Mystic Falls. Kol observed the event with neutral interest.
After Caroline finished talking with one of the cheerleaders, she glanced up and spot Tyler who stared at her. The blonde-haired beauty recalled early this morning that she checked on him, how she comforted him and helped him to take him home.
She approaches Tyler who waits for her. "How are you feeling?" Kol eyeing Tyler up and down disinterested then scanned around the event.
"I'm okay." The Lockwood werewolf shoves his hands in his pockets. "I'm sore, every muscle aches." He admitted.
Caroline hummed softly with sympathy. She tilted her head and smiles at him. "You did it. You know, you… your first full moon and you didn't hurt anyone. It's get easier. You'll get better at it, you'll learn to control it and it won't hurt so much." She said, comfort him with a positive tone.
Tyler scoffed with a disbelief smile. "Well, we don't know any of that for sure."
"No but small victories, Tyler." Caroline attempt to brighten up his mood with a cheerful smile. "Last night was a victory. You know, let's take it." Tyler's lip twitches with a soft smile and they both chuckled.
Kol made a sour face when he noticed how friendly they both are to each other. He glares at the werewolf warningly. "Don't even bloody think about it, git werewolf." He hisses, protective of his vampire.
"Look, I really want to thank you." The Lockwood werewolf is truly appreciated. "I don't know what I would have done if you hadn't been there."
Caroline was taken aback by such sweet genuine gratitude from her friend. A speechless smile appeared on her face. It's not often that Tyler Lockwood would thank anyone easily. "Umm… yeah." She feels warm with content and satisfied that she helps someone—her friend and he didn't make her feel useless at all. She feels good.
She likes helping people. Tyler stares at her thoughtfully when he watches how truly delighted she looks. A smile appeared on his face with soft eyes.
Kol narrowed his eyes at Tyler warily. No way was he going to lose his vampire to a disgusting werewolf.
"Anyways—" Caroline cleared her throat. "Uh… next month we should probably reinforce the wall since you destroyed two rings. It's a good thing I left earlier otherwise you might got me."
Tyler frown with confusion. "Wait what?"
Caroline shakes her head. "Oh, it's nothing." Kol made a noise from the back of his throat in protested and disbelieved.
"No, wait." The Lockwood werewolf stopped her. "What is it?" he asked, wondering.
The blonde-haired beauty bit her inner cheek for a bit then sighed. "It's not a big thing—" "Lies. All lies. It's a big thing, darling." "—it's just that one bite and it's… you know, curtains for me." Caroline said with a sheepish smile.
Tyler's eyes widen in shock. "W-what do you mean by that?"
"Well, the legend says that a bite from a werewolf can kill a vampire." Caroline explained.
"Which is why I don't want you anywhere near my girl." The wild Original grumbled as he attempts to push the werewolf away from Caroline.
Before the Lockwood werewolf opens his mouth, a student shouted out his name. "Yo, Ty! Come here, man. We need help with the burger!" Tyler glanced over his shoulder.
"You are needed." Caroline tipped her head at the distance where the grills are along with a long table. Tyler turned his gaze to her for a bit, trying to read anything on her face but found none, so he sighed but nodded his head.
The blonde-haired beauty watches her friend leave to do his job. "…well, that went well." She chirped happily.
"Not even far enough…" Kol wants to put the longest distance between his vampire and the git werewolf. He has a bad feeling about that Lockwood kid.

Later…
The blonde-haired beauty stride down the empty corridor while carrying the trash bag. She is satisfied and content when she saw how successful the barbecue event was for the school. Everyone is enjoying their meals and there aren't any problems so far.
Kol never tries hamburgers before as he is silently curious if they are delicious or not. "Caroline!" the blonde-haired beauty paused, turned around, and beamed when she saw her friend.
"Matt!" she greeted him, warmly.
The wild Original hummed with disinterest. He doesn't like the human, but he tolerates him. Matt jogged toward her with a big smile on his face. "Hey, haven't really seen you around much lately."
"I know… I'm sorry. Things have been busy for me." Caroline explained with a sheepish smile on her face as she set the trash bag down. She thought about how she was a vampire, Elena being the doppelganger, a werewolf situation with Tyler, and the whole curse Original as ghost stuff. "But how are you?"
The Quarterback half-shrugs his shoulder. "Good, I guess. Feeling a bit better…"
A sly smile appeared on her face. "Does this have something to do with that girl?" she did saw Matt hanging out with a pretty girl. Caroline recognized the girl easily, Amber Bradley. Kol also saw that as well and he silently hopes that the jock will pursue the human girl. As long as he isn't interested in his vampire.
Matt chuckled bashfully. "I don't know what you are talking about." Caroline narrowed her eyes playfully at him with a skeptical smile. "Anyways, I just want to know if we could hang out again later? Someday in the near future?" he asked, hopeful.
"Does that mean I'll see her with you?" Caroline asked, teasingly.
The Quarterback hummed. "Maybe." He answered with a shy grin.
"Hey, Matt!" Caroline and Matt turned their attention to a cheerleader girl. "We need more burgers." She informed him with beckoned hand hurriedly.
Matt nods his head that he got her message. "Got it, Dana." He turned to Caroline. "See you later?" he asked, just to be sure.
"Definitely." Caroline will have to figure which day is perfect to hang out with her friends. "We'll hang out again soon." She assured him.
"Good." The blonde jock smiles with satisfaction, turned around, and jogged back to Dana who has been waiting for him. They both quickly lightly jogged back to make more burgers.
The blonde-haired beauty picked up the trash bag. "Better get this in the garbage and stroll around to make sure everyone is happy." She muttered to herself as she is taking her role as Vice President serious. Kol shove his hands in his pockets and followed his vampire quietly. He knew better than to distract her from her duty, otherwise, she will ignore him which happened one time and he refuses to go through that again. One time to pissed her off was a hard lesson learned from her.

Later…
Caroline playing with her keys as it made jingling sounds with an amused smile on her face. She and Kol did fun childish questions once again in the car. It was simple yet nice. Caroline hummed softly when she ascended the stairs with Kol following closely. The blonde-haired beauty paused when she saw Tyler sitting on the outdoor chair.
"Tyler?" Caroline called out in confused surprise. Kol frowned while eyeing the werewolf with suspicion.
The Lockwood werewolf stood up while rubbed his palms over his jeans. "Hey. Where have you been?" he asked, walking toward her.
"At school." The blonde-haired beauty simply answered while eyeing him up and down with curiosity and worried. "What's wrong? Is everything alright?"
Tyler stared at her, carefully study her face which Caroline raise her eyebrow at him with questioning. "What?"
"We need to talk." The Lockwood werewolf rubbed the back of his neck, nervously.
"I don't like this." Kol blunted, narrowed his eyes at the werewolf.
The blonde-haired beauty hummed in response, waiting for Tyler to speak. It took a few minutes for him to finally open his mouth. "I just don't understand one thing." Caroline tilted her head, puzzled. "…why would you risk it? If a werewolf bite kills a vampire…why would you risk it?" he asked, bewildered and lost.
"Because you needed help." Caroline answered slowly, not understanding why Tyler needs to ask such questions. After all, they both are friends, right?
Tyler shakes his head with furrowed eyebrows. "I could have killed you."
"But you didn't." the blonde-haired beauty pointed it out.
Kol glanced at the werewolf and the vampire back and forth with a contemplative glint in his dark orbs.
"I don't understand you, Caroline." The wild Original glares at the werewolf with irked.
"What's there to understand?" Kol mumbling about the idiotic werewolf.
"I just… don't know why you help me." The transparent ghost rolled his eyes.
"Why is it so hard for you to let someone else help you?" Kol commented that werewolf is just full of stupid as they don't have intelligent cells in their brain.
"That's not it." The wild Original briefly wonders if he could convince his darling to slip the wolfsbane in werewolf's drink someday.
"Yeah. It is, Tyler." Caroline sighed heavily as she pressed her hands on her hips. "It's like you don't want anyone to care about you. I'm sorry, but I care. I care because you are my friend. So forgive me if I overstepped my boundaries by actually giving a—"
Kol froze as the world suddenly silent. He stared blankly at Tyler who grabbed Caroline's cheeks and pressed his lips against hers. Caroline stiffed in shock. There wasn't any movement. Nor sound. Nothing but time stood still.
The wild Original's eyes darken with anger that is slowly boiling up within. The pain beneath as he could have sworn that his soul was drowning with such intense emotions. He could feel the jealously, the fury, and the pain. And he refuses to hold onto his anger as he willingly releases it. Letting the rage out that he snapped stormily. "BACK OFF!"
Suddenly, Tyler yanked away from Caroline across the front yard. The Lockwood werewolf was slammed against the ground with a loud crack from the broken bone. The blonde-haired beauty gap in stunned and baffled. "Oh my God…" Caroline stuttered in astonishment and perplexed. Her blue-green orbs met dumbfounded eyes that belong to the Lockwood werewolf who pushed himself halfway up.
"W-what the hell was that?" Tyler didn't know what just happened. At first, he was kissing Caroline and the next thing he knew, he was pushed away by wind or something across the yard.
The blonde-haired beauty just shakes her head then quickly went to her front door, inserts her key in, and glides inside her house with the door shut. Leaving bewildered Lockwood werewolf behind with any answers.

Caroline's Bedroom
Caroline was pacing back and forth in her bedroom while biting her lip as she attempts to comprehend what just occur minutes ago. She doesn't understand what's going on exactly except she heard him. Loud and clear words from him. And he sounded so angry. She halted in the middle of her bedroom and carefully scanned around. "…that was you, wasn't it?" she asked out loud, nervously. "Kol?"
Kol is shaking with anger as his hands curled in tight fists at his sides. He hates seeing that filthy stupid werewolf who dare kiss what belongs to him! "I'm going to bloody murder that piece of shitty werewolf!" he snarled, livid.
The blonde-haired beauty crossed her arms while nervously tapping her shoe against the carpet. "Kol? Please… what's… what's going on? Why did you… how did—" she closed her mouth with a click when she recalled how Kol did protect her by closing the curtains at that time when she was at the hospital. At least that did answer one of her questions but… "Why are you so…angry?" Caroline whispered, puzzled.
The transparent Original chuckled humorlessly as his eyes are still darkened. "Why?" he runs his fingers through his hair. "Why you asked, darling? It's because that fucking dog thinks it's okay to put his nasty muzzle against your lips! You don't belong to him! Your mine, Caroline!" he ranted, angrily. He desperately wants to grab a baseball bat and destroy that git werewolf. Tyler Lockwood just had signed himself on his Must Kill list. First Katherine Piece, second Damon Salvatore, and now, Tyler Lockwood.
Who would've thought that there's someone out there in the world that he wants to murder more than his stupid paranoid brother?
Caroline narrowed her eyes thoughtfully when she caught the words from Kol. 'Dog… muzzle… lips…mine?' she carefully calculating for a bit then realization hit her. 'He's upset…'
"…are you upset?" she asked, cautiously.
Kol scoffed loudly. "No. I'm fucking enrage!" he snapped, still furious as the anger is still boiling inside of him.
The blonde-haired beauty bit her inner cheek. She wasn't happy when Tyler kissed her out of the blue without her permission. She won't deny the kiss was somewhat nice, shocking, but nice. However, she didn't feel anything for him at all. Tyler was just a friend to her and that's all there is to her. Caroline hasn't realized that Tyler might have some kind of feeling toward her. It wasn't her intention at all.
'Why is Kol so… angry?' she mused, perplexed. Shouldn't she be the one who supposes to be angry at Tyler? Although, she wouldn't be that mad at the werewolf for kissing her without her consent. However, Kol's anger was… bit too deep. There was one word that stood out the most. "Mine… what do you mean by… mine?" Caroline question, hesitant.
The wild Original snapped his dark eyes at Caroline's nervous face. He quickly strides to her and paused when he stands in front of her. Caroline's eyes shifted around with awkwardness and confusion. "Kol?" she called out, softly.
Kol leaned down and brush his icy-freeze lips against her lips with longing, indignation, and distress that he can't taste her beautiful lips.
Caroline gasped loudly as she took a step back and placed her fingers on her wintry lips. "Oh…" understanding hit her fully in her mind. "…oh." Her blue-green eyes lit up with shy realization.
Her ghost friend, the curse Original who has been there for her ever since she was human to a vampire for months…
…is romantically interested in her.
Kol's dark eyes slowly fade away as his tense muscles relax. His fists loose at his side while staring at Caroline quietly. The girl that he has fallen in love with now knows that he has feelings for her.
And honestly?
The wild Original didn't regret it.

Somewhere in Maine
Woods
Meanwhile…
Upon the forest floor lie trees of centuries, fallen in storms long forgotten. The seasons have been harsh, stripping away the bark and outer layers, yet rendering them all the more beautiful. They have the appearance of driftwood, twisting in patterns that reminded of seaside waves, even the color of the moss is kelp-like. They are soft and damp, yet his fingers come away dry.
Harper tilted his head upward, watching the ray of moonlight dances upon the woods. The owls come in song with the breeze along with rustles of branches and bushes. The soldier vampire hummed softly while observed the woods as he could easily remember almost as if it happened yesterday.
A transparent of a gorgeous female with white-blonde hair that flowing around her shoulders, bright blue eyes filled with playful, fair skin flushed by the morning sun, and lovely pink lips smile lovely. She was dancing on her own with stray leaves floating around her as if she controls them with magic. "Emmanuella…" he whispered her name from his lips. He blinks as the transparent of Emmanuella fades away.
Harper closed his eyes as he silently prayed for her. 'I have found your descendant, my Lady.' He thought about Caroline Forbes. 'Her smile reminds me of you.' He opens his eyes. "I have come to receive an item." He whispered to the woods and stride down the path with perfect memory.
Once he reached one unusual tree that is completely different from the other plants. It was a large semi-white tree with silver cheery blossoms that shimmering by the moonlights. The soldier vampire paused in front of the tree and tipped his head respectfully at the beautiful tree.
He fondly recalled how much Emmanuella adored this tree ever since she planted it centuries ago. With her own ability and blood that she created such a rare and one-of-a-kind tree. After all, she was a Child of Nature. Harper was relieved to see the tree standing tall and strong without anyone who damages it.
Harper sauntered to the tree, lifted his palm to touch the bark of the tree. It's very warm, just like Emmanuella's embrace. The young woman whom he treasured as his important friend and pseudo-sister. His eyes lifted upward and almost instantly found a silver pouch that tied one of the branches. "I will deliver it to her, Emmanuella. It is time for her to know the truth." He said, solemnly.
He waited for a moment until one of the branches slowly shifted downward with a pouch. Once it reached him, he untied the string from the branch and step back when he has the pouch. The branch went back to its position. "Thank you." He bowed politely to the tree.
Harper turned around and walks away. He is glad that these woods are not ruined nor damage by humans or any other supernatural creatures. Then again, no one wants to be near this part of the woods because there is unusual magic in the air. It puts fear for werewolves. Paranoid for vampires. Disinterested in witches and warlocks. Blinded for mortals.
Only special souls can wander through these woods.
Harper was one of them.
After all, he wouldn't destroy Emmanuella's grave.
The pouch in his hands curled around gently. 'Now… time to tell her.' Harper mused, determined as he prepares to leave for the Mystic Falls in Virginia.

Caroline's Bedroom
Meanwhile…
Caroline lowered her hand to her side as glanced away shyly. "I—I don't know what to say…" she didn't know what to do with this situation. It's not like a normal boy who comes up to her and confesses to her. This is a very bizarre and awkward circumstance to be in.
This is a curse Original is a ghost that—confess to her. In a way.
The blonde-haired beauty truly cares about Kol. She does. However, she really hasn't been able to learn who he really is. Plus, she doesn't even know what he looks like!
She just recently learned that he is an Original the first vampire who was a curse for some reason as a transparent ghost. Caroline couldn't grasp what she discovered that Kol has feelings for her. It's a bit hard to accept that as a fact.
Kol watches her having struggles which he sighs with fondly yet understandingly. He poked her forehead playfully. "Calm down, sweetheart." Caroline blinked as she lifted her hand and touch her forehead with confusion. "Don't worry too much. We're still friends." Kol said, softly. Although, not for long because I will court you once I'm free from being daggered. He mused, silently added.
"…we are friends." The blonde-haired beauty smiles shyly. She decided to think about the sudden confession from Kol push back in her mind. Caroline will have a chat with Lexi someday…alone if she could.
However, Caroline knew that between her and Kol, will never be the same. Not when he showed her his feelings for her.
Things have changed.
And Caroline wasn't sure if it's a good thing or not.
