Forbes' Residence
Caroline's Bedroom
Later…

The sunlight shines brightly in the room as Caroline is sitting on the bed with her legs crisscrossed. The leather journal is laid in front of her as the pendant is in her hands. While Kol is sitting on a cushioned stool while facing her. She already explained her so-called adventure to Stefan and answered his questions which took an entire hour for him to finally leave.

And now, Caroline is hesitant as she is eyeing the book. Her blue-green orb shifted to the pendant and gently smooth the curve, texture, and wires. It was a truly beautiful necklace, and she wouldn't mind wearing it.

The blonde-haired beauty exhaled deeply and bravely as she opens the cover of the journal carefully. The handwriting on the parchment was very elegant in lovely cursive. She cleared her throat. "This journal belongs to Sáõ…" she lightly touches the three different names, the letters are peculiar but somehow, she could read them. "There are three names… Lovisa… Solveig… and Emmanuella." Caroline silently wondered if these three names are her ancestors.

Kol was surprised to hear two other names that are from the old language, the Old Norse. Caroline turned the page and saw the beautifully drawn majestic tree that reminds her a bit of the pendant. Her blue-green orb glanced at the pendant. "The tree looks similar… but I can't read this… I don't recognize the language." She said out loud, confused while tracing the foreign letters that were labeled underneath the drawn tree.

The mischief Original stood up, step forward, and sat on the edge of her bed. He leaned forward and his dark gaze lit up with recognized language. It was his mother tongue language! "The Tree of Life." He repeated a few more times until Caroline got his communication.

"The Tree of Life?" the blonde-haired beauty repeated, just to make sure. Kol tap her shoulder, confirmed that she got it right. Caroline hummed with interest then turned the page. She frowned at it with puzzled, and she turn couple more pages and sighed loudly. "I don't know how to read this. This isn't French or Spanish… heck, not even Latin." She grumbled, slightly annoyed.

Then she realizes that her ghost friend knew how to read it. "Wait, Kol… you can read this, right?" she pointed at the random page of completely different language. Kol skim over the page as it was the Old Norse language. "Yes, darling. I can read it."

Caroline's shoulders slumped. "It would be great if I can completely hear you if you read this out loud. But…" she trailed off, disappointed. The blonde-haired beauty continues turning page after page carefully. She paused when she realized the handwriting was different. "At least I can tell the difference with handwriting. First few pages it very formal and elegant… and now these are a bit more feminine but rough." She mumbled while turning the pages.

Until she reached almost a couple more than halfway through the journal. "Oh!" she paused on the page where it was a mixture of English and Latin. "…this one mention something about…" she traces the fancy letters and turns the page. She saw the drawn of a tree on the corner of the paper that is a close match to the pendant. "…the Tree of Life. It connected between the Earth and the Other Side." Caroline read out loud.

Kol perked up with interest. "Other Side?"

"It ties the ancient blood with a witch's blood from a powerful Bennett Coven." Caroline raises her eyebrow. "Huh… I didn't know that my ancestor knew Bonnie's ancestor." An excited smile appeared. "That's pretty cool."

The wild prince Original narrowed his eyes thoughtfully. He wondered if this information is related to what Emily Bennett's riddle was. "Hey Kol, should I talk to Bonnie about this?" Caroline asked, curious.

Kol frowned. He wasn't sure if it was a good idea but it wasn't a bad idea. "…maybe." He respond, unsure since he knew that witches aren't fond of unknown species. However, it seems Caroline's ancestors might have a connection to Bennett witches so it's possible that they may already know something about Sáõ.

The ringtone alarmed Caroline as she glanced over the nightstand with curiosity. She crawled over to pick up her cell phone and blinked at it. "Speaking of…" she accepted the call and pressed it against her ear. "Hey Bonnie?" her lips twitch to confuse smile. "Wait… you want to what?"

Kol cocked his eyebrow at his vampire puzzled. "What is that little witch cooking up this time?" he muttered, a bit wary.

Mystic Grill
Bit Later…

The mischief Original stared at Bonnie with disbelief when he learned her plan as he is currently sitting on the chair between his vampire and the little witch. He blinked owlishly at the Bennett witch for a moment. "Is this what supposedly powerful Bennett witch reduce to? What the bloody hell is going on in this timeline?" he blurted, baffled and offended.

Caroline hummed thoughtfully with a neutral face as her chin rested on top of her entwined fingers as her elbows rested on the table. "So… you want to use some kind of like legilimency version from Harry Potter on Luka?" she asked, skeptical and uneasy.

"Who the fuck is this bloody Harry Potter?" Kol glares at Caroline warily and jealously.

The blonde-haired beauty barely contains her shock when she heard her ghost friend's words. 'He doesn't know Harry Potter?! I better show him that later.' She mused, filed it away with a promise. There's no way that she allows Kol not to knowthat one of the greatest books ever exists in this world.

Caroline accidentally met Matt's bright blue eyes when he is picking up the bucket filled with dirty dishes as he walked across the room. They both exchanged friendly smiles and Matt continue ambled to the next dirty table to clean.

Kol just hummed in boredom since it was just a harmless friendly smile between two friends. That doesn't mean he won't keep his eyes on the Quarterback, just in case.

Bonnie noticed it as a sly smile appeared on her face. "You and Matt?"

"No." the wild Original blunted, rejected. There's no way would he allow a mortal boy to go anywhere near his girl.

Caroline snorted with amused. "Uh—no." she shakes her head much to Kol's satisfaction. "Matt is only a friend. Remember?" she reminded Bonnie who just smiles teasingly at her. "Seriously. Besides, I think Matt has a crush on Amber Bradley."

"Oh?" the witch raises her eyebrow with interest. "That girl who used to be a candidate for Miss Mystic Fall?" Caroline nodded her head, confirmed that she is correct. "And that she was nearly…" Bonnie trailed off when she recalled how Amber almost got killed by Stefan Salvatore when he was on human blood addiction.

"When the bunny diet Salvatore nearly killed her." Caroline blunted while Kol smirks widely with mirth dancing in his dark eyes. God, does he love his vampire's open-minded and blunt on things. The blonde-haired beauty dropped her hands on the table. "Well, if you excuse me. I need to use the ladies' room." Bonnie nodded her head.

Kol watches his vampire stand up from her seat as she grabbed her purse and stride across the room. It's a good thing that the distance from where he is to the bathroom isn't too far away although, it will cause him a bit of discomfort. His dark eyes went to the little witch with contemplative. Kol wasn't sure if he is comfortable enough for Bonnie to learn how special Caroline is.

After all, Bonnie reacted very badly when she learned that Caroline Forbes became a vampire that night during Carnival time. However, Caroline did stand up for herself to Bonnie not too long ago and the little witch was feeling remorseful. Plus, she is willing to work with Caroline with this whole Luka situation.

The transparent Original sighed heavily as he lightly drummed his fingers against the table. He is a bit torn between allowing Bonnie to know the truth about Caroline or protecting his vampire from the Bennett witch.

Suddenly, his muse was interrupted when clatters heard. He jerked his head up and growled softly when he saw the git werewolf who bumped against his vampire. Caroline frowns at Tyler who caused her purse to fall on the floor and spilled out its contents. The blonde-haired beauty shook her head, kneels down to retrieve her bag and things. Tyler instantly bends down to help.

"Caroline…" Tyler opens his mouth, hesitant.

The blonde-haired beauty shook her head in silence. Making sure everything that was spilled on the ground, back inside of her purse. After that, she stood up and shrug the strap over her shoulder then walk past Tyler who turn around and stared at her with guilt and longing. The Lockwood werewolf shakes his head, turned around, and left the Mystic Grills.

Bonnie and Kol watch the blonde-haired beauty approach the table and sat down with a neutral smile. "Are you okay?" the witch asked her with concern.

"Yeah." Caroline waves it off calmly.

The Bennett witch hummed softly with slight skepticism. "Are you sure? I mean… Elena didn't tell me with details when Stefan told her about what happened to you…" she trailed off, worried.

The blonde-haired beauty sighed heavily. "I'm… not great but doing good." She thought about that horrible night with the werewolves. "Anyways—" she changed the subject. "—back to this witch's cooking plan…"

"What?" she raises her eyebrow at her, questioning.

"Bad idea." Kol repeated a few times until Caroline's heard his message.

Caroline bit her inner cheek then shakes her head. "I don't think it's wise to do that." Bonnie frowned at her.

"We have to, Care. No one knows the extent of what Elijah's up to." Kol perked up at his brother's name while Caroline narrowed her eyes thoughtfully.

"And you think that Luka's has the answer?" Bonnie nodded her head. "…yeah, no. Bad idea." Caroline said, feeling slightly guilty that she won't help her best friend but she kind of trusted the Original ghost bit more. "Plus, wouldn't it be better if we just—I don't know… ask Elijah?" Caroline suggests.

Kol hummed with approval. "That would work. After all, 'Lijah will answer any questions truthfully." He informed.

The little witch made a skeptical face. "He's an Original, Care." She reminded the blonde-haired beauty.

"The Original who is probably ancient and noble enough and sounds like he would honor his words. After all, he and Elena did make a deal, right?" Caroline pointed it out.

Bonnie crossed her arms as they rested on the table. "But you got kidnapped." She stated which made Caroline flinch a little while Kol glares at Bonnie tactlessly with her words. "Oi, watch your mouth."

"I escaped before anyone rescue me." Caroline fibbed the truth. No way is she going to tell anyone about a cursed Original who helped her and the soldier vampire saved her from werewolves. "I wouldn't be too surprised if Elijah or maybe his friends will probably recuse me. I am one of Elena's loved ones that need to be protected." The blonde-haired beauty said, calmly. She did learn a lot from Stefan.

The Bennett witch pressed her lips together. "I don't trust Elijah." She stated.

Caroline furrowed her eyebrows. "But… he didn't do anything to you. Or me." She pointed it out, confused.

"Well, Luka lied to me about the moonstone, and who knows what Elijah is planning with it. He probably will use Elena for something." Bonnie said with a disgusted frown. "I don't know him, and we need to figure out what that Original is up to."

The blonde-haired beauty shakes her head. "I don't want to make him our enemy, Bon. Who knows, he might have a reason for doing all this." She waves her hands around while Kol is watching them quietly.

"Are you telling me that you trust him?" Bonnie asked with incredulity which made Caroline groan as she tipped her head back. "He's a vampire."

"And so are Damon and Stefan." Caroline rebuked as she drops her head and stared straight at Bonnie's emerald orbs. "So am I. Please, trust me that I don't think it's a good idea to force Luka to tell you whatever the truth that Elijah is hiding. Plus, you forgot that he is not the only warlock that works with the Original."

Bonnie leaned forward with a deep frown. "Care… this is Elena. Our best friend." Kol scoffed while rolling his eyes as Caroline's lips pressed together. "We—I would do anything to make sure that Elena is safe." She tilted her head with a slight pleading in her eyes. "Don't you want her to be safe?"

"Of course I do!" Caroline retorted, offended. "But I still think we should take a safe option is to ask Elijah." She crossed her arms, stubbornly.

The wild Original huffed when he noticed how adamant the little witch is. He decided to help his vampire. "Not. Powerful. Enough. Only. Amateur." Kol repeated the words slightly exasperatedly. He doesn't like repeating words at all. It's rather annoying.

"You're not powerful enough, Bonnie." Caroline said, grimly after she heard her ghost friend's words. "You are amateur and only recently dabble with this whole witch juju." She added, silently agreeing with Kol because Bonnie did recently start doing magic not too long ago.

"Excuse me?" Bonnie was taken aback by the insult as her jaw clenched.

The blonde-haired beauty stared at her solemnly. "You had to ask Luka about the witch stuff. You learned something from him. You haven't even discovered that witch can channel!" she whisper-shouted to Bonnie.

"Which to my horror of how lack of training you are as a witch." Kol murmured, feeling offended for the powerful Bennett Coven.

The petite witch curled her fingers into fists. "It's not my fault." She defended herself quickly. "Grams—" she halted as her eyes started watering.

Caroline's hard eyes soften with sympathy. "Is it really wrong to ask Elijah first? Before we do anything that could get us into serious trouble? Like… I don't know… before Luka or his dad curse us?" she asked, begging while thinking how a powerful Original who is now cursed and stuck as a transparent ghost. Caroline really doesn't want to be cursed or some witchy juju on her at all. 'Plus, maybe Elijah can help Kol? They are brothers…' she mentally added.

Bonnie stared at the table blankly with tense shoulders. Kol sighed as he leaned his chin on his palm while his other hand drummed against the table. Bonnie Bennett is too naïve as she is seeing the world as black and white. It's very rare to meet an inexperienced teen witch who only just step into the supernatural world. The problem with her is that Bonnie Bennett isn't acting like a true witch. Not even embrace her inner magic and explore the magical wonders.

It pissed Kol off. He recalled how he unlocked his magic back when he was a human. It was an amazing feeling, the sense of magic, the company of the energy, and the divine. Yet it was more than that, the kind of magic that danced around him. He felt purity, emotional generosity, unconditionally loving, and faith. Magic that flows of creation from everywhere that could be used for anything and it was brilliant. The art of magic, the magic of art, just comes through his blood, veins, soul, and emotions.

He missed it so much.

It hurt a lot when he lost it when he was forced to become an immortal creature.

And to see that a potential witch who didn't get a chance to grow to become a true witch with powerful magic at her fingertips, it really pissing Kol off.

"…are you going to help me or not?" the Bennett witch asked, not unkindly with stern eyes. She lifted her gaze to Caroline who looked disappointed.

Caroline slowly shakes her head. "No. I'm sorry, Bonnie. I—I don't want to get involved with this—" she waves her hand around, attempting to find words to speak. "—this so-called dangerous interrogation against a warlock who has a father, who is also a warlock." Caroline empathizes with her witch best friend with a warning tone.

Bonnie released a heavy sigh through her nose. "Fine. I'll just ask Jeremy." She decided then turned halfway around to take the strap of her purse out and settle on the table to flush out her cell phone.

The blonde-haired beauty frowned deeply while Kol just shakes his head. "At least you try." The wild Original comfort his dispirited vampire.

The blonde-haired beauty wanted to help her witch best friend, but she doesn't want to interrogate the poor warlock. She was interrogated and tortured by a werewolf two nights ago! Even though, she knew Bonnie wouldn't hurt Luka, but still…

It's wrong.

"Thanks for being a good friend." Bonnie snipped rudely as she is texting on her phone. Caroline frowned at her with a hurt glint in her eyes. Kol glares at the petite witch with a scowled.

The blonde-haired beauty doesn't want to add drama to her plate since there is so much happening in her life right now. She stood up, grabbed her purse to shrug the strap over her shoulder, and was hesitant for a brief moment. "…I am not comfortable helping you force to interrogate an innocent guy. I don't care if he's a traitor or not. It's wrong to do that. He will feel scared and useless. Just like how I felt it when I was kidnapped and tortured by a werewolf." She blunted, uncaringly that Bonnie gap at her in speechless.

Caroline turned away and stride toward the exit while Kol stumbled to his feet. He glanced over his shoulder at the Bennett witch who froze in stun as her fingers paused on the screen of her smartphone. "I hope you make a wise choice, little witch. Otherwise, you will get a terrible consequence." Kol muttered, offhandedly then followed his vampire when he felt the tug.

Forbes' Residence
Caroline's Bedroom
Later…

Caroline blows her hair away from her face as she is currently sitting on her bed with a notebook and her ancestor's journal. "While everyone is busy with their drama—" she made a face when she realizes that there are so many things that are happening for the last few days. "—as much as I want to learn more of my ancestors and my… Sáõ thingy…" she glanced at the journal with a hint of longing. "I can't really read the entire thing on my own." She unwillingly admitted with a pout.

Kol raises his eyebrow slightly amused at how petulant his vampire is acting. "But that's okay!" Caroline shook her head and smiles widely with a positive air. "We'll learn more about my heritage stuff after we figure it out how to… uncursed you, Kol." She said with determination.

"Are you sure, darling?" the wild Original asked, curious and wonder. He is sitting on the bed, across from her.

The blonde-haired beauty bit her lip then smiles softly. "I rather learn this Sáõ stuff when you are here with me, in a real body. Face to face. With voice and words to hear completely. I want that, Kol." She whispered, feeling shy.

Kol's dark eyes soften with fondness and longing. "Me. Too." He reiterated a few times until Caroline got it with a beaming smile.

"Okay…" she brushes the stray of her hair back behind her ear. "So, we're just gonna need to figure this whole cursed stuff out. I remembered that you were fine if we can go ask your brother, right?" Kol leaned forward to tap her forehead.

Caroline shudder as her nose wrinkled. "Right. But I need to know where I can find him." She muttered to herself, thinking out loud. "I could go ask Luka and his father—Mr. Martin. They are working with Elijah, after all."

After a moment of planning and replanning to prepare for talking with Kol's brother. The sun starts to set, and it was rather peaceful and calm between the vampire and the Original ghost.

Until a doorbell rang, Caroline jerked her head at the door with confusion. She climbed out of her bed, left her bedroom with Kol following behind, descended the stairs to the door. Her blue-green orbs gaze through the glass but found none outside of the door.

The blonde-haired beauty reached the doorknob, unlocked it, and pulled inward. "Hello?" she called out, wondering. She glanced around until dropped to the ground and saw her phone. "What the?" she bends down, picked up the object, and back to her feet. She stared at it baffled and bemusement.

Kol raises his eyebrow at the cell in her hands, puzzled.

Caroline double-checked the phone which turned out it was hers. She didn't even notice that she lost her phone. She scanned the porch and the front yard but found it empty instead. Her eyebrows furrowed for a brief moment then shook her head. She walked back inside, shut the door gently, and locked it.

Unaware, Tyler watched her from the far distance with disheartened and pining. Then he whirled around and walk away with a heavy duffle bag in his hand. The Lockwood werewolf reached the idling car, climbed inside and soon the car drove away down the street.

Not knowing that a soldier vampire was keeping his eyes on them from a safe distance. Harper grunted with satisfaction that the werewolves are gone and far away from Emmanuella's descendant. He observed the surroundings to make sure there are no dangers to Caroline and her home.

After he is content with it, Harper decided to check on Caroline's mother just to be safe. Knowing she will appreciate it if he also keeps his eyes on Sheriff Forbes.

Anything to make sure his Lady is happy and safe.
