Forbes' Residence
Caroline's Bedroom
Next Day…
Kol watches his vampire finish getting ready for the day. He raises his eyebrow at her when she studied the appearance of her outfit. "You look lovely, sweetheart." He compliments her as usual; his vampire does always look absolutely gorgeous. No, he wasn't being biased.
…okay maybe he is.
But still, Caroline Forbes is definitely a beauty.
Caroline adjusted the strap of a purse over her shoulder and beam at the reflection. Her blue-green orbs dart at the neck where she is now wearing a Tree of Life pendant that belonged to her ancestors. She reached to touch the stone and gently stroke it a few times then dropped her hand at her side. The blonde-haired beauty nod herself with satisfaction and whirled around. "Alright. The best place to start is Mystic Grills. Hopefully, Luka will be there."
Caroline glanced at the clock. "It's almost lunch time so…" she trailed off, with hopes that she can meet Luka and also, maybe check on him to see how he is feeling.
The blonde-haired beauty grabbed her car keys from the dresser and grinned widely. "Ready Kol?"
"Of course, darling." Kol poke his vampire's forehead who shivered by the icy-freeze touch but beam.

Mystic Grill
Bit Later…
Caroline is sitting at the table that was pushed against the wall as she could see the doors easily from her view. Kol is lounging the bench across from Caroline as his hands folded behind his head. His bored gaze scanned around the Grills. They've been waiting for Luka to show up for the past thirty minutes and nothing.
The blonde-haired beauty idly takes a piece of French fry, twirling it around while continuing to look around with slight impatience. Until a name caught her attention. Caroline's shoulders are stiff as she straightens her spine. She tilted her head a little to hear more clearer as Kol cock his eyebrow at her with confusion. He silently wonders what his vampire is listening to that catches her attention.
"—get anything out of Elijah?"
"No, it was boring. Of course, Jenna thinks he's charming."
"You sounded jealous. Sound a bit jealous?"
"Kinda do."
"Maybe we shouldn't talk about this here."
"Andie, she's been compelled not to divulge my secrets. Haven't you?"
"Uh-huh… Mmm… my lips are sealed."
"This is too weird."
"I just need the right opportunity."
"Ah, there's Jenna with her new boyfriend. Hi."
Caroline dart her blue-green orbs at the corner of her eyes and spotted Damon, Alaric, Andie, Jenna, and a very handsome man. "Whoa…" she barely whispered with awe, not expecting to see such an attractive-looking man in this Grills. Kol followed the direction where she was staring and instantly sat up when he saw his older brother. "Elijah." Kol blurted in surprise.
The blonde-haired beauty perked up with an excited glint in her eyes. Turns out they didn't need Luka after all! Caroline carefully plays as a young teenager who enjoys eating her food alone. She has been listening to their conversation shamelessly which Kol noticed and was proud of her.
After a few minutes later, Damon, Alaric, and Andie left the Grills to prepare for the dinner party at Salvatore Boarding's place. Caroline didn't care about that but is a relief that Elijah and Jenna stay to eat their lunch. Caroline cleared her throat and start talking under her breath with the hope that Elijah could hear her. "Elijah?" she called out quietly.
Kol watches his vampire trying to deliver her message to his brother. His dark gaze shifted from her to Elijah.
The Noble Original smiles politely at Jenna as he barely tilts his head. Luckily, Caroline got his response. "My name is Caroline Forbes. And umm… may I please have a word with you? It's something I think it would interest you." She said, civilly. Her blue-green eyes watching the Noble Original lifted the menus to his face as he pretends to read. "It's about him—your brother. Kol." Elijah stiffed in surprise and suspicion.
Kol and Caroline noticed Elijah carefully scanned around until his dark brown orbs met hers. "I can wait until you are finished with your meal?" she offered. The Noble Original narrowed his eyes at her for a brief moment then tip his head. He turned his attention back to Jenna with a calm smile as he lowered his menus.
The blonde-haired beauty released a shuddering sigh. 'That was a bit intense.' She mused, nervously. The wild Original never thought he would get to see Elijah in this place and time.
Kol honestly doesn't know what to feel about his brother right at this moment. All he could think was that he hopes that Elijah will help him. Even though Elijah is a bastard who prevents him from escaping to his freedom in the year nineteen fourteen.
After a moment later as Caroline already finished her meal and is playing the ice block in her lemonade drink with a straw while Kol has sauntered around in the Grills with boredom. Finally, when Kol noticed his brother bid his farewell to Jenna who smiles friendly at him then walk to the exit.
Elijah smoothly maneuvers his way toward Caroline. The transparent Original immediately walked back to his vampire's side and gently brush his fingers against her cheek. Caroline nearly flinched by the sudden icy-touch as she jerked her head up. Her blue-green eyes widen when she saw Elijah approach her.
When the Noble Original settled on the bench across from her gracefully. His face was calm, yet his eyes are filled with burning questions and suspicious.
"Miss Forbes." Elijah greeted her, politely.
Kol snorted at his formal brother as he leaned his side against the bench where Caroline is sitting. The blonde-haired beauty straightens up her spine and stopped playing with a straw. "Elijah." She greeted back with a skill-charming smile on her face.
Elijah flicks his wrist and carefully adjusted his sleeve. "May I know how you've gained the knowledge about my brother." He didn't even ask but demanded.
"Wow… your command sounded so polite, better than Mrs. Lockwood." Caroline blurted, anxiously. Kol's lip twitches with amused and fondly.
The Noble Original hummed with a cocked eyebrow. "The answer, please."
Caroline cleared her throat. "Right. Umm…" how is she going to answer him? Start from the beginning? "I… don't know what to say…" she half-smiles nervously.
"I believe you could start with how you know about him." Elijah offered, calmly yet his eyes are burning with suspicion and questioning.
The mischief Original snorted. "By communicating with me since I was cursed, bound to her." He grumbled as he crossed his arms.
The blonde-haired beauty inhaled. "He was cursed." She exhaled quickly. Kol stared at her fondly while Elijah narrowed his eyes at her, perplexed.
"Pardon?"
Caroline bit her inner cheek as she grabbed her straw and start fiddling with it. "Maybe I should start from the beginning…" she trailed off, edgy. Elijah waves his hand at her for her to proceed as he leaned back comfortably. "…right. It's started about maybe six or seven months ago, I was human and oblivious to the supernatural world. My friend, Bonnie tried to tell me that she's a witch, but I didn't believe her." She grimaced with guilt. "But that changed when I stumbled across the old, abandoned church during that night, I saw Bonnie and her Grams—grandmother—doing the witchy stuff. That's when I start believing it. And after that, I realized that there was this ghost that has been with me since… probably after summer last year or the first month of my junior year. Anyways, I did this whole seance thing and contacted him. Kol." Elijah tilted his head with interest while Caroline dropped her palm on the table from the straw. "Kol and I—we've been communicated by simply touch. Like, tap for yes or no tap for no. Basic things." Caroline said, while eyeing the Noble Original carefully.
Kol studied his brother quietly who is pondering. "What makes you think it's truly him. My brother, Kol. What if it's a different ghost?" Elijah didn't believe her completely, but he didn't reject her nor called her a liar.
Much to Caroline's relief. "Which is why I'm so glad I brought this." She muttered, went to her purse, and took out a folded paper. "I wrote these down from what I've learned about him. Bunch of trivial things." She unfolded the paper, place it on the table and slide it toward Elijah.
Caroline and Kol watch Elijah pluck the paper up with his fingers while reading it at a quick speed. His eyes widen in surprise and start rereading it slowly. He lowered the paper as he lifted his gaze to her with wonder and curiosity. "…these trivial… I knew most of them about him. Others—I didn't know." Elijah responds. "But what are these random words?" he placed the paper on the table and pointed at a bunch of strange words that Elijah recognized easily but was still confused.
"Oh those… well, before I was human. I couldn't hear or see him at all. I could only feel his touch. However…" Caroline thought about her death with a bitter frown. "…something happened, and I became a vampire. I started to hear him, random words. Not completely. But I do get some of his words somehow." She explained.
Elijah rubbed his mouth with his hand for a moment. "You said that my brother, Kol… is cursed?" Caroline nodded her head. "Is he here?" he asked, almost longing which surprises Kol.
"Kol?" Caroline called out softly.
The wild Original brushes his fingers against her cheek with feather-like touch in response while eyeing his brother with perplexity. Caroline shivers and smiles awkwardly when Elijah raises his eyebrow at her. "His touches have become extremely cold. It wasn't too bad when I was human but now? As a vampire, it's deathly cold." Caroline informed Elijah, sheepishly.
"Does that mean he is here? Right now?" Caroline nodded her head in response. "Tell me anything that it is my brother. Something only we both knew." He dared her, cautious and suspicious.
"Nineteen fourteen." Kol repeated a few times until the blonde-haired beauty got it.
"Nineteen fourteen."
Her response made Elijah's eyes widen in shock. "I… don't know what to say." he whispered, didn't expect this situation at all. "I—if he's truly Kol. And is here right now… then, could you please tell me if he knows where he is?" he asked, hopeful.
"What the bloody hell is going on with you, 'Lijah?" Kol blurted, confounded.
Caroline bit her lip, confused. "Umm… Kol?" she asked, unsure and awkward.
The transparent Original answered his vampire with repeated words exasperatedly. "Don't. Know. Coffin. Somewhere."
The blonde-haired beauty delivered Kol's words to Elijah. "He said he doesn't know. Something about the coffin and somewhere?" she questioned; a bit weirded out.
Elijah furrowed his eyebrows, contemplative. "That is unfortunate. All I knew is that his coffin is somewhere buried in the middle of the ocean."
Kol was brittle in disbelief and rage while Caroline stared dumbfounded at the Noble Original. "Are you fucking telling me that my body is in the goddamn ocean with a bunch of bloody fucking fishes?!" he curses under his breath in anger and offended.
"…he's pissed." Caroline said with a weak smile.
The Noble Original sighed heavily. "Not surprising." Then he frowns. "You mention that he's cursed. What do you mean by that?"
"Oh, umm… he said that he was cursed as a transparent ghost. He wasn't sure why or how that happened." The blonde-haired beauty answered with concerned frown on her face. "I was hoping if you could help him? Break the curse or something?"
Elijah drummed his fingers against the table. "No offense, Miss Forbes. But why is Kol with you?" he asked, wondering.
Kol halted his rant of colorful curses and made a face. 'Because my soul is bound to hers.'
"Well, I told my friend about Kol—but she doesn't know that he's an Original or cursed. But she only knew that he was just a regular ghost boy who became my friend. Anyways, her theory was that she thinks that, when I was human, I might be a medium or had highly sensitive to energy. She thinks I was sensitive to ghosts and now, that I'm a vampire, my senses are heightened." Caroline offers the theory that her friend, Lexi thought of.
The Noble Original hummed with understanding. "That is an interesting theory. So, Kol stick around you because you could feel and somehow hear him?" Caroline nods her head. "Well, this changes things." He commented, contemplative.
"…you said that his coffin is in the middle of the ocean…" Caroline open her mouth, hesitant and worried. "…he's not really…" she trailed off.
Elijah blinked at her thoughtfully while Kol grumbled unintelligible that involves cursing his paranoid brother. "Honestly, I did believe that I lost my family when Klaus told me he dumped them with the fishes. However, to think that there is a possibility that I haven't lost them completely… I take my chance." He explained, mannerly yet his dark-brown eyes filled with relief and hope.
Kol sighed as he carefully examined his brother. "No wonder why you are acting so peculiar." He commented. One of these days, he will succeed in making the golden dagger and dump his paranoid stupid brother into the ocean for a century or two. That should teach that bastard a lesson.
"Kol really is one of the Original vampires…" the blonde-haired beauty whispered with amazement and fascination. "But he's trapped in a coffin?"
The Noble Original nods his head. "My siblings are all daggered which makes them indisposed."
"Daggered?" Caroline perked up when she heard that word. It had been repeated a few times from Kol. "I've heard of that few times. What do you mean by daggered?"
Elijah sits up as he adjusted his sleeves and brush off the imaginary dust. "A special dagger could make one of us…out of commission. Originals cannot be kill."
"Stupid dagger…they shouldn't even exist…" the wild Original grumbled. He loathed a cursed dagger that put him out in a coffin for a century. Before it was usually decades but this is the first time he has been out for a century. A fucking century.
Caroline's blue-green orbs spark with interest and engross. "Does that mean—if someone undaggered Kol… your siblings…"
"They will wake up." Elijah finished when he noticed how excited and interested she truly is, especially in his younger brother. "You seem to rather eager to help Kol." He pointed it out.
The blonde-haired beauty's cheeks blush. "I—I promised him that I will help him. And he's my friend. I care about him." Kol's eyes soften with fondly and admired her.
The Noble Original raises his eyebrow at her with puzzled but curiosity. "Friends?" Caroline nodded her head with a smile while Kol narrowed his eyes at him warily. "I don't think Kol even knew what a friend is."
"Bastard." Kol snapped at his brother.
Caroline tilted her head as her smile shifted to faux-charming. "Maybe you didn't know Kol as well as you do?"
"On the contrary, you don't know Kol as well as you think you do, Miss Forbes." Elijah retorted, politely.
Caroline crossed her arms. "Oh, I indeed agreed with you. I don't know much about Kol's past. However, I do know this Kol enough that he is my friend." She replied, civilly. Caroline ignored the fact that Kol is romantically interested in her.
The mischief Original smirks widely with a proud glint in his dark eyes. "So proud of you, my darling." He cheered for her.
Elijah huffed with amusement. "You have a bit of feisty." He approved. "I can see why Kol would stick around you." He glanced at his wristwatch. "Unfortunately, I have to cut this short. As much as I wish to continue this conversation. I have to prepare for the dinner party tonight." Elijah reached inside of his blazer and tug out a card. "This is my personal number and email. I want to discuss this conversation more later in an appropriate place and time."
Caroline accepted the card not unkindly. "Of course." She assured him. "I want to talk more as well." She watches Elijah stand up from the bench and carefully button his jacket. "Oh, by the way—" she stopped him. "—I don't know what's going on, but I think I should warn you." Elijah hummed questioning. "I have no idea what Damon is planning but he's bad news. Any plans he has for this little dinner party… be careful."
The Noble Original eyed her thoughtfully then nod his head. "Consider your warn taken serious." Caroline smiles with relief. "I will talk to you later and please, keep this between us." Caroline lifted her index finger to her lips with a playful smile. Elijah's lip twitches but tips his head with gratitude. "For now, farewell Miss Forbes."
Kol watched his brother turn around to walk away but paused. "Kol… I will find a way to free you and the rest of our siblings. You have my word." Elijah whispered then stridden across the Grills, heading to the doors.
The prince Original's undead heart swell with hopeful and disbelieved. He would never think his brother would make a vow to him. When was the last time he did that? Before he was a vampire. He briefly recalled when he was barely a teen, his older brother gave him a word to always protect him from their abusive father. But his word was broken when his father stabbed him with a sword through his heart.
Kol mentally shook that dark memory away and half-grinned when he saw how excited his vampire is. "This is great, Kol. This is the first step!" Caroline whisper-shouted, cheerily. She clasped her hands together to pressed against her smiling lips.
"Thank you, love." The transparent ghost brushes his fingers against her brush with gratitude, hopeful, admiration, and fondness.
Caroline Forbes is a truly amazing woman.

Caroline's Bedroom
Later…
The blonde-haired beauty finished her night routine and wear her comfortable pajamas—a grey Timberwolves shirt and blue shorts. Currently, Caroline is playing questions with Kol with a bunch of silly things. It was a good day for the both of them until she heard the doorbell ring.
Caroline slipped off her bed, left her bedroom to descend the stairs, and paused in surprise. Kol leaned forward when he saw the little witch standing in front of the door with curtains open. "Bonnie?" the blonde-haired beauty thought out loud in surprise and curiosity.
The blonde-haired beauty stridden to the door, unlocked it and open inward. "Bon?" she asked, puzzled when she examined the petite witch. Her blue-green orbs soften with worried. "What's wrong?" she saw Bonnie's red puffy eyes.
Bonnie choked in sobbed. "Care…" Caroline immediately wrapped her arms around Bonnie who cries in her shirt.
Kol raises his eyebrow with curiosity. He watches his vampire shut the door, and help drag Bonnie to the living room.
Caroline helped Bonnie to sit on the couch, and sat down next to her. Kol ambled toward the couch and sat on the arm of the couch, close to his girl. "Bonnie… please, tell me. I can't help you if I don't know what's going on." She asked with concern while rubbing the Bennett witch's arm for comfort.
Bonnie sniffle. "He took my power." She whimpered.
The blonde-haired beauty and the prince Original stared at the witch blankly.
"What?"
"What?"
The Bennett witch lifted her palm to cover her teary eyes. "Mr. Martin found out what I did to his son. H-he was pissed and… he did a spell on me. I lost it. I lost my power." She cried, wretched.
Kol's dark eyes lit up with understanding yet sympathy while Caroline was stunned. "Oh… oh Bonnie." She shushes the little witch in her arms.
"I wanted t-to help them! I want to help get his daughter back, Luka's sister." Bonnie started to blabber. "Elijah promised them to return their family member since Klaus forced generations of witches to help him for centuries to undo the curse without the doppelganger. I learned that Elijah wanted to kill Klaus, but in order to do that, he has to make Klaus vulnerable in the ritual after the sacrifice. But the only way to kill the Original is for Elena to die! And now, Mr. Martin found out what I did to Luka, he punished me by taking my power away."
Caroline stares at her best friend in shock as she is processing the shocking information in her mind while comforting Bonnie.
The wild Original whistle with astonishment. "Well… never pissed off powerful witches and warlocks, little witch." He shakes his head; however, he narrowed his eyes at the Bennett witch. Kol knew that Mr. Martin is one of the strongest warlocks since the man did "took" Bonnie's power away. However, the prince Original knew that Bonnie's power isn't gone. Her magic is sealed away. The warlock sealed the little witch's magic away and the only way to unlock is when Bonnie uses mental power which she doesn't have the ability to do since she is untrained. The other option is Mr. Martin to unseal the magic for her.
"I w-wish I should've listened to you, Care…" Bonnie sniffed, regretfully. "…but now…" she trailed off, tears spilling over her cheeks making her olive-green orbs shines like emeralds. "I…I want them back. My power. They were so warm and now I'm so cold."
The blonde-haired beauty bit her lip with worried. She reached back to grab a throw blanket to cover her best friend's body. "I don't understand how you are feeling right now, but I do know one thing." Bonnie lifted her gaze to her soft blue-green eyes. "I can be here for you, always. You are my best friend and that will never change." She promised the petite witch.
Bonnie's lip trembles. "…I'm so sorry that I was a bitch to you." She apologizes, genuinely. Kol approved while Caroline smiles gently. "I should've not treated you horrible. Right from the beginning."
"When I was a vampire?" Caroline asked, just to be clear.
The petite witch shakes her head. "No. When I was always teaming up with Elena against you. It was always us and you. It shouldn't be like that. It was supposed to be the three of us. But lately…" she sniffed, attempting to control her sob. "…I always stick with Elena's side. And I didn't want to deal with vampires because they were the reason my Grams died. She died for nothing." Bonnie shakes her head a mixture of sadness and anger. "I forgave Elena and tolerate with Salvatore brothers. When in reality… I should have stayed by your side. You always stick with me no matter what, even though I was a bitch to you. Hell, you even allow me to be in your home and comfort me right now."
Caroline was surprised, but pleasant surprise by how much Bonnie is sincerely apologetic to her. Bonnie grabbed Caroline's hands and stared at her eyes with a solemn face. "I promise that I won't push you away. Never again. You are my best friend."
Kol smiles softly at his vampire who looks positively happy. Caroline gently wipes Bonnie's tears away with her thumbs. "We'll find a way to get your powers back." She assured the little witch.
"…thank you, Care." Bonnie is grateful and awe to have such a wonderful and forgiving best friend in her life. She silently vowed that she won't ever treat her best friend like shit ever again.
Caroline leaned her forehead against Bonnie's with sisterly affection. "I love you, Bon."
"Love you too." The two best friends giggle as the intense and strained bond between the two of them that has been around for so long has finally withered away.
