Chapter 2

Neuvillette opened his eyes. He must've dozed off. He looked around but still no sign of Sigewinne. He must've dozed off for only a minute or two then, if she still hasn't returned.

The headache has gone. Then he took notice of his gloves. They seem to have a slight pointed tip to each finger. Curious, he took them off. He was stunned at what he saw. His hands were covered in dark royal blue scales. His fingernails have become claws that had a gradient of the dark royal blue to a light sea-green color.

How could this be? He knew he had become a fully fledged Hydro Dragon Sovereign but he didn't think he would actually become one. If he really is becoming an actual dragon, then he must leave the Fortress. If people saw his true identity, they might run in terror or worse... they might think he's the next terror of Fontaine.

He stood up and quickly went to the entrance of the medical room. He looked both ways to make sure no one was around. It was all clear. Then as he was about to take a step, he felt pain in his legs. Letting out a pained yelp, he fell to the metal floor.

He sat up and shook his head. But then his eyes widened in shock. His legs were no longer there but were replaced by a long, very long tail. His tail were the same dark royal blue as the scales on his hands with glowing sea-green fins from the waist down and at the end of his tail, both having the same elegant marks that were on his coat.

No. This isn't good. The transformation was going too fast. He won't make it to the entrance of the Fortress. There has to be another way out. Maybe the back pipes. He somewhat crawled towards the back of the pipe, trying not to make a sound.

His face began to sting. Scales must be appearing on his face. He must hurry. He has to hurry. I really am becoming a dragon.

As he made it to the back end of the pipes, a sharp pain erupted from all over his body. He fell to the floor and curled up in a ball. He felt numb all over as he felt the transformation go through his entire body. He tried to keep in his screams but the pain was too much. He had no choice but to let them out. His screams echoed throughout the pipes and into the Fortress.

All the people in the Fortress stopped what they were doing and looked towards where the scream was coming from.

"I'm telling you, this fortress is haunted," said someone.

"We have to go check it out, just to make sure no one is hurt." said someone else.

Four people decided to go up to the dormitories to check where the screaming was coming from. As they continued on, they heard the screams turn into terrifying roars. They began to think scary thoughts as they followed the sounds.

When they arrived, the sounds had stopped. They continued on, already trembling in fear. As they turned a corner, one of them stepped on something squishy.

He looked down to find that he stepped on a tail fin. Then he slowly looked up to see a giant dragon serpent in front of him.

The poor guy screamed out in fear, causing dragon Neuvillette to roar out at him. The guy ran off, followed by the other three.

Wait. Was what Neuvillette wanted to say but he didn't know how to speak in his new form. He looked down at himself, realizing his entire body was a long serpentine form, having his sea horns grow from above his eyes and down his neck. He has four fins, one in the front and one in the back, the front fins are a lot bigger than the back fins. He has white fur starting from the top of his head and down along his neck, back, and tail.

He also has a large tail fin at the end of his e serpent form. His underbelly was a lighter color while his entire body was a royal dark-blue.

Suddenly, he felt a surge of power flow through him and he grew twice his size, ending up with him hitting his head against the ceiling of the pipe.

The transformation is not complete! Neuvillette has seen the remains of the previous Hydro dragon. If he was to grow that size, then he has to really get out of the Fortress of Meropeide.

He quickly tried to slither through the pipe and out to the Fortress. He headed straight towards Wriothesley's office, wrapping his entire body around the structure.

Everyone in the Fortress looked up, shocked to see a giant sea creature.

"What is that?"

"Is that a sea creature?"

Wriothesley, hearing the thundering commotion against his office, ran outside. He looked up, also shocked, to see the dragon wrapped around his office.

"Is that a dragon?" Wriothesley asked.

Once again, the dragon grew twice his size, almost crushing his office. Everyone began running away or backing away. Neuvillette was scared for the first time. He was panicking.

The entrance! Launching himself from the office, he made for the entrance. Everyone ducked or jumped out of the way.

"Don't engage the dragon! Just make sure it leaves the Fortress of Meropiede!" Wriothesley ordered.

Neuvillette burst through the entrance of the Fortress. He then plunged into the water. Wriothesley ran out and looked to see where the dragon had gone. Based on the water's movement down below, it managed to make it into the sea.

He was glad it returned where it came from but still, something about it seemed familiar.

Those markings. Where have I seen them before?
