Chapter 5: Vacation

"I don't like this, Danny." Sam commented. "What if a ghost attacks while you're away on vacation?" She asked, holding the urge to add 'with her'.

"If necessary, I can fly back home in an instant, Sam." Danny reassured his friend. "Just call me."

"But don't make any prank calls just to interfere with the date, Sam." Tucker cautioned the goth.

"Tucker, why do you think she'd do that?" Danny asked, not knowing about Sam's feelings for him.

"Clueless." Tucker muttered.

"I'm so tired of being called that." Danny commented.

Meanwhile, at the Mayor's office, a seriously crazed up fruitloop was talking to one of his executives via phone. "So, is it already official?" Vlad Masters asked.

"Yes, Mayor Masters." The executive on the other side answered. "That resort in Zoravia, Illinois is property of Vladco. If you don't mind, may I ask why do you want it?"

"You may but that doesn't mean I'll answer." Vlad joked.

Later on, Danny and Natasha were watching a movie at the resort. "You know, I tried to watch it at the movie theater but a ghost attack interrupted it." Danny commented.

"How cute." Mrs. O'Brien commented. "You believe in ghosts."

"Did she have to stay here with us?" Danny whispered to Natasha.

"A teenage boy and a teenage girl can't be left alone with no adult supervision, Danny." Natasha whispered back. "Especially a girl like me."

Danny gulped as he had a mental image of King Carl saying "Off with his head!". "Okay."

After the movie, they reunited with the rest of the O'Briens. "Family, I've got wonderful news!" Mr. O'Brien announced.

"Are we going to meet Princess Natasha?" Greg eagerly asked.

"No." Mr. O'Brien answered.

'I still can't believe they don't know.' Danny thought.

"Are we going to the beach?" K.C. asked, earning a slap on the back of his head from his brother.

"Why does Greg hate the beach so much?" Danny asked.

"I don't know." Natasha answered.

"The resort's owner wants to meet us!" Mr. O'Brien exclaimed.

"I don't know why, but I have a bad feeling about this." Danny commented.

"Me too but it can be just spy paranoia." Natasha replied.

Danny, Natasha and the O'Briens went to a room designed for large gatherings. "The new owner will soon join you." An employee said. "I believe one of you already know him."

"My bad feeling just became worse." Danny commented.

"Do you think Vlad Masters owns this place, Danny?" Natasha asked out of concern.

"My ears burn." Vlad said as the fruitloop revealed himself. "Someone must've said my name."

"How do you know him, Natasha?" Mr. O'Brien asked.

"He's the Mayor of Amity Park and a college friend of Danny's parents, Mr. O'Brien." Natasha answered.

"Precisely, young lady." Vlad replied with a malicious smile. "Once the little badger's parents told me that the place I was acquiring was the one coincidentally chosen by him as a vacation spot, I couldn't help but be amazed by the coincidence."

'Coincidence my…' Danny's thoughts were interrupted by Natasha holding his hand.

"So, how're Maddie and… Jack doing, little badger?" Vlad teasingly asked Danny.

"They're doing fine." Danny answered with a frown. If not for the presence of people who didn't know their secret, he'd have gone ghost on Vlad right then.

"How can you be a Mayor?" Natasha asked, getting the fruitloop's attention. "Don't your business ventures keep you too busy to properly run a town?"

"Good question, Princess." Vlad replied with a forced smile. "I don't know how old a Citizen of Zoravia needs to be in order to be allowed to vote, but your question leads me to believe you'll be able to make a right choice by then."

"She's no Princess." Greg scoffed. "She just happens to have the same name as Zoravia's Crown Princess. I should know since I danced with the real one at a charity ball."

"Actually, Gregory, I believe you danced with a decoy." Vlad replied while glancing at Natasha.

"Yeah, my friends and I saw the pictures." Danny commented as he still didn't believe someone (even a jock) could be that dumb. "Was the punch spiked?"

'It'd explain so much.' Natasha thought.

"You're just jealous because you're just dating a normal girl while I not only got to dance with a Princess but I'm dating a cheerleader." Greg accused Danny.

"He means the girl who called us both losers when you first met my classmates, Danny." Natasha clarified.

"Figures." Danny muttered. His phone then rang. "Hello?"

"Danny, Skulker's attacking the town!" Tucker said. "Hurry!"

"Excuse me, I need to go to the bathroom." Danny said and left.

"Hey!" K.C. exclaimed. "I've just realized the Mayor never answered Natasha's question!"

"Of course he didn't, K.C." His older brother Greg replied. "Every good politician must know how to dodge questions. I'll show ya." Greg then directed his attention to Mayor Masters. "Mr. Mayor, the last time I was in your town, I've heard of an abandoned hospital that was being used by criminals as hide out. No Mercy, I believe it's called."

"North Mercy, actually." Vlad corrected Greg. "Some letters fell off the sign."

"Anyway, what's your position about reopening that hospital?"

"Good question, Gregory!" Vlad replied. "Reopening that hospital is a very important topic of discussion at the City Council."

"Okay." Greg replied and turned his attention back to his brother. "See what I meant?"

"Cool!" K.C. replied.

A few minutes later, Danny sucked Skulker into a Fenton Thermos and flew away. "Wow, he's in a hurry to see Natasha again." Tucker commented, earning a glare from Sam.

Back at the hotel, Danny hurried to see if Natasha and the O'Briens were okay. "Vlad, if you did anything to hurt Natasha." Danny threatened the fruitloop.

"Wow, I know there are people who hate politicians, but not to that point." Greg commented. To Danny's relief, Natasha and the O'Briens were well.

"What's the worry, little badger?" Vlad maliciously asked. "It seems like you saw a ghost."

"Cool!" K.C. commented. "Was it the ghost of someone killed with a knife?" Greg's little brother asked while making slashing gestures.

"First, I don't know." Danny answered. "And second, ewwwww."

"My brother's like that, Danny." Greg said with a dismissive tone. "You'll get used to it."

Danny then tried to relax as much as he felt able to with the fruitloop around. 'I'll need a vacation from this vacation.' He sadly thought. In spite of this, he and Natasha did manage to have a good time.

Later on, as he was back home, Tucker and Sam visited him and he told them and Jazz about his vacation hiccup. "So, Vlad bought the place just so he could ruin your date with his presence?" Sam asked in disgust. "I feel bad for you and Natasha." Sam said and she was sincere. While she hated the Crown Princess of Zoravia for 'stealing her Danny' (in Sam's eyes), she didn't hate her to the point of enjoying the fruitloop's interference.

"It looks like your next date will have to be in the Kingdom of Zoravia to be Vlad-free." Tucker commented. Danny's phone then rang. "Natasha?"

"Danny, my Dad wants me back home for the Booferfruit Harvest." Natasha said. "Would you like to come as well?"

"Were you spying on my conversation with my sister and my friends?" Danny jokingly asked. "Tucker even suggested we needed a date at your home Kingdom to make it Vlad-free."

"No, Danny." Natasha playfully replied. "I just had the thought and the annual harvest's time is approaching anyway."

"Well, I'll have to talk to my parents to see if they'll allow me, Natasha." Danny said.

"You have until the day after tomorrow to decide." Natasha stated. "Goodbye."

"Goodbye." Danny replied. "Guys, Natasha invited me to the Booferfruit Harvest. What's a booferfruit?"

"Booferfruits are Zoravia's local fruits, Danny." Sam answered. "While they have a bad smell that repeals bugs, they have a good taste, assuming all climate conditions are met."

"Climate conditions?" Danny asked in confusion.

"The booferfruits are so delicate a wrong climate can make their taste as bad as their smell." Sam stated.

"And, if Zoravia's instructional video about booferfruits are accurate, they smell like a yak's farts." Tucker added.

"Did they really use that f-word in the video, Tucker?" Danny skeptically asked.

"They said 'like a yak's' and then cut to a scene with a yak farting at somebody." Tucker explained while giggling. "It was the only thing that made me like what otherwise would be just a boring video about some stupid fruit."

"Well, I'm going to talk to my parents." Danny said.

Meanwhile, at the O'Briens' home, Greg was talking to Natasha. "Come on, Natasha." He pleaded. "Let me go with you."

"Greg, I didn't even know you wanted to taste a booferfruit so badly." Natasha commented.

"No, I just want to see Princess Natasha one more time." Greg explained. "Sure, she didn't show up at last year's harvest but I have better hopes for this year."

"Greg, dear." Mrs. O'Brien intervened. "I don't think Natasha's parents have enough space in their home for two guests. It's not like they're the King and the Queen of Zoravia."

Natasha could easily imagine someone making a badum crash noise. Her phone then rang. "Danny?"

"Natasha, I have good news!" Danny said. "My parents said 'yes'!"

"Really?" Natasha asked. "What was the question? If you're the cutest boy in the world?"

"They'd probably say 'yes' to that question as well but they said 'yes' to me going to the Kingdom of Zoravia." Danny explained. "The only problem is that, since there are no flights from Amity Park to Zoravia, I'm going to take a plane from Zoravia, Illinois."

"Uh, you know my parents can pay transportation for the both of us, right?" Natasha asked.

"I know but my parents don't." Danny replied. "Unless you're okay with them knowing you're…"

"Never mind, Danny." Natasha replied.

Back at Fentonworks, after the conversation ended, Danny was talking to his sister and his friends about it. "Danny, aren't you afraid?" Sam asked. "Last time you just went to another town and a ghost attack happened. "Now you're even going to another continent!"

Tucker was sure Sam was just trying to get in the way between Danny and Natasha but, as he realized she had a valid point, didn't say anything.

"That's why I'm going to borrow the Infi-map." Danny proudly replied.

"Are you crazy?" And this time it was Tucker who asked the question instead of Sam, showing how serious it was. "What if Vlad steals it again?"

"Wait a minute." Jazz asked. "What's this Infi-map?"

Danny and his friends explained everything they knew about it and Jazz was perplexed. "Are you saying the Bermuda Triangle disappearances are the work of a natural ghost portal and some work as time portals?" Jazz asked. "No wonder Tucker would rather leave the map with those friendly ghosts. Have you ever wondered if a Tannen-like villain used one of those natural portals to go to the future and learn lottery results?"

"On a second thought, we can be more careful with the Infi-map this time." Tucker suggested.

"You had to say it, didn't you?" Sam glared at Jazz and then redirected her attention to Danny. "What would you even say when people at customs spotted the map? For all I know, somebody at Zoravian customs could be a Lubek supporter who'd use the map to break him free as soon as he figures out how to use it."

"Couldn't you wait until we saw the lottery results, Sam?" Tucker asked.
