Chapter 11: Invisible Phantom

Vlad Masters had just finished a new weapon. "Skulker, do you know what it is?"

"Uh, a smaller version of the Plasmius Maximus?" Skulker guessed.

"It does look like it so I won't hold this mistake against you, Skulker." Vlad stated. "This is the Invisiperma, which renders ghosts permanently invisible to everyone except ghosts and humans with ghost powers. I want you to use it on Danny Phantom so it'll be the end of his human life."

"Unless he agrees to renounce his Dad and become your son, right?" Skulker asked.

"The idea has potential but I already gave up on that." Vlad replied. "I'm just making him suffer and, hopefully the tragedy will make my beloved Maddie break up with that oaf."

'If I weren't afraid of him, I'd ask why he doesn't just move on and try to date someone else.' Skulker thought in disgust. 'Is it that hard for a billionaire to get a date?'

"Yes, Sir." Skulker said. "The whelp won't see it coming."

"I like your word usage, Skulker." Vlad commented. "Even I wouldn't come up with anything better."

The next day, at Casper High, Danny was running away from Dash. "I've just lead the Ravens to another victory and you know what that means." The bully said.

"You're free from scorn again." Danny muttered. "Where are the fair teachers when we need them?" He then felt his ghost sense. "Uh-oh."

Skulker revealed himself. "I'll hang your pelt on my wall, whelp."

"A ghost!" Dash screamed in horror and ran away. Everyone other than Danny did the same.

"I'm going ghost." Danny said and transformed into Danny Phantom.

"Once I'm done hanging your pelt, I'll bring your Princess' one to keep you company." Skulker taunted his prey and it worked.

"Over my dead body." Danny said and charged towards Skulker, who took advantage of the hero's recklessness to hit him with the Invisiperma.

"Well, I've done what Plasmius told me to." Skulker commented. "Bye for now."

'How odd.' Danny thought, oblivious to what happened.

"Danny!" Sam shouted as she and Tucker showed up looking for their friend.

"I'm here, Sam." Danny replied in annoyance. "No need to shout."

"Sorry, Danny, but there was no need for you to be invisible either." The goth argued.

"Sorry, I didn't realize I was invisible." Danny replied and tried to turn himself visible again but failed. "Uh-oh."

"What happened, Danny?" Tucker asked.

"I can't make myself visible again." Danny answered. "Whatever Skulker hit me with must've tampered with my invisibility."

"How about you turn yourself human again?" Tucker suggested.

Danny felt the two rings around him changing him back into Danny Fenton. "Done."

"Uh, Danny, you're not in front of us, are you?" Sam asked. "Because I'm still not seeing you."

"That's what I feared." Danny commented. "What do we do?"

"We could try the stolen face trick again." Tucker suggested.

"I don't think my parents will fall for that twice." Danny commented. "If they ask, tell them I'm hiding and you guys didn't find me."

"I'll be honest and tell them I didn't see you after a ghost showed up." Tucker replied and giggled.

"Tucker, this is not the time for jokes." Danny uselessly glared at his friend, forgetting Tucker couldn't see it.

"Danny, do you remember that invention that short-circuited yours and Amorpho's powers and later restored them?" Sam asked. "How about you use it to undo the damage caused by Skulker?"

Unbeknownst to them, a spy camera was revealing everything to Vlad. "Oh, that's right." Vlad commented. "I've heard of that incident with the shape-shifting ghost. I suppose I must make sure the little badger will never have a chance to use that machine again." He then pushed a button to summon Skulker but only heard a recorded message. "Hi, you've called Skulker, the greatest hunter in the Ghost Zone. At the moment, I cannot answer your call. Please leave a message after the beep." Vlad instead chose to end the call.

"Probably he's on another date with Ember." One of the ghost vultures theorized.

"I can't take the chance it'll be something that'll last as short as his failed dates do." Vlad said and let two black rings turn him into Plasmius. "The three of you will distract the boy's parents while I'll destroy that machine."

Later on, as Danny was flying back home, he spotted his parents fighting the ghost vultures but decided to keep rushing home. 'It's not like my parents need help against them.' Danny thought. 'And the fruitloop must be using them as some sort of distraction.'

As he phased himself inside home, he went to the lab, only to see his sister Jazz and his archenemy Vlad Plasmius fighting each other and destroying the very machine he rushed back home for. "Oh, I'm glad to see you're on time to see this destruction, little badger." Vlad maliciously said. "Bye."

"Oh, no." Danny moaned, shocking Jazz.

"Little brother, where are you?" Jazz asked.

"I'm invisible, Jazz." Danny told his big sister. "Skulker used something that keeps me stuck that way."

Their parents then returned home. "What happened here?"

"That vampire ghost you call "Wisconsin Ghost" happened, Dad." Jazz explained, not technically lying but not mentioning Danny's predicament either.

"Have you seen your brother?" Maddie asked her daughter. "Mr. Lancer called saying nobody at school saw him ever since a ghost attacked."

"I haven't seen him ever since he left for school, Mom." Jazz answered with a nervousness her parents dismissed as a natural worry over her brother's well-being.

"I just hope he hasn't ditched his school duties for another date with Princess Natasha." Jack commented. "I like thinking of her as a reason Danny's too clueless to notice the goth girl's feelings for him."

"Let's look for him in his bedroom, dear." Maddie suggested. "Even if we don't find him, we might find some clues."

"Great idea!" Jack exclaimed and pulled her towards her suggested destination.

"Does Dad think Sam wants something more than friendship from me?" An invisible Danny asked in confusion.

"Focus, little brother." Jazz replied, wanting to dodge the question. "We must focus on making you visible again."

"True." Danny replied. His cell phone then rang. "Natasha?"

"Danny, a friend of mine heard of something that happened to you." The Crown Princess of Zoravia said and Danny deduced she probably meant Oleg. "He once helped someone with a similar problem and can help you."

Once Danny was given Oleg's address, he flew to Zoravia, Illinois and met both foreign spies there. "I'm here." The ghostly hero said. "What's the plan?"

"Oleg has developed an antidote for an invisibility formula." Natasha happily told her boyfriend. "We can use…"

"NO!" Oleg shouted. "That antidote was developed for an invisibility that does not work the same way Danny Phantom's does. It is too risky. I have analyzed ectoplasmic samples and, if you give me one of yours, I might figure a way to restore your ability to become visible."

"Uh, are you sure there's no alternative?" Danny asked.

"Well, I suppose you could go after whoever did this to you and get them to undo it." Oleg suggested.

"On a second thought, I might go for your first idea." Danny decided. Oleg gave him a glass plate and a nail. "Please prick your finger and let at least one drop of ectoplasm here."

"Danny, your parents don't know your secret." Natasha said after Danny did as Oleg asked. "What're you telling them?"

"Good question, Natasha." Danny commented and picked up his (invisible to everyone in the room but him) cell phone.

"Danny?" Tucker asked. "Where are you?"

"I'm at Oleg's, Tucker." Danny answered. "He's a friend of Natasha's and is helping me. How're things back home?"

"Sam is once again playing faceless you." Tucker answered.

"Really?" Danny asked with evident incredulity.

"I'm just as shocked as you and I am seeing it myself." Tucker commented and then noticed something. "Oh, no! Skulker's back!"

"I'm going right there!" Danny replied and then turned his attention to Natasha and Oleg. "Ghost emergency. I'll come back later. Bye."

Danny quickly flew back to Amity Park and saw Skulker shooting around. "Come on, whelp." The hunter said. "Where are you?"

"If you really wanna know, just undo what you did to me, Skulker." Danny replied.

"You're not invisible to ghosts, whelp." Skulker said. "And the Invisiperma is already back with Plasmius so, no help from that front."

"It's no surprise the fruitloop is behind it but you're still going to pay for doing this to me." Danny replied. Unbeknownst to him, their battle was drawing unusual reactions from the crowd.

"I know the armored ghost is fighting Danny Phantom thanks to my goggles but why is Danny Phantom invisible while fighting another ghost?" Maddie asked.

"Maybe some ghosts can stay invisible to other ghosts." Jack suggested. "Once we catch Phantom, we could ask about it before dissecting him."

"Even if we don't take his word for whatever he says, we still get to dissect a ghost." Maddie happily replied. "Excellent idea, dear."

Tucker, Sam and Jazz eventually joined the fight, except for the fact Danny and Skulker were flying and the three teens were at ground level. "What do we do?" Jazz asked while holding a Fenton Thermos. "I might suck Danny into it by accident."

"And this time you'd have the excuse of not seeing him." Sam muttered and ignored the eventual glare from the aspiring psychologist. "Didn't your parents make some spare goggles you could borrow?"

"Out of all things they could have locked for safety…" Jazz muttered. "I suppose we must rely on Valerie by now."

"You're not calling her, are you?" Tucker asked.

"No, Tucker." Jazz answered, making her brother's best friends relieved until she added "She's already here" and pointed at the sky.

To Tucker and Sam's horror, the Red Huntress was approaching Danny and Skulker. "Maybe she can't see Danny." Tucker commented.

His belief was reinforced when Valerie shot several missiles at Skulker, destroying his armor and allowing Danny to capture the tiny blob Skulker's made of. He then returned to Oleg's home.

"Good news, Danny." Oleg said. "I have developed a way to restore your visibility." He then presented what looked like a toy gun.

"A toy?" Danny asked in confusion.

Oleg then presented a pen. "Please hold it for a while, Danny Fenton." He asked.

While Danny held the pen, Oleg tasered him with the "toy gun". "Now please make yourself visible again."

Danny did as Oleg asked and was indeed visible again. "Now please make yourself invisible again just to check if your power is indeed working as usual." Oleg asked.

To Danny's relief, he's once again able to activate and deactivate his invisibility as well. "Thank you, Oleg." The halfa said.

"Don't mention it, Danny." Oleg replied.

"Danny, I'm so glad I can see you again." Natasha commented. "Literally."

"Oleg, can this device put other halfas in the same situation I was?" Danny asked with a malicious smile. "I know a fruitloop who needs a taste of his own medicine."

The next day, Team Phantom was enjoying the news about an "invisible ghost with visible suit spotted near the Mayor's mansion". "For once, I'm enjoying having that Princess on our side." Sam commented.

"I still can't believe he walked outside without realizing." Tucker added. "Doesn't he have any human servants at home?"

"He's probably afraid they'd find out about his secret." Danny theorized. "That's why I convinced my parents to buy that robot instead of hiring actual servants back when we were living large."
