Chapter 29: Danger on Ice

Danny was taking a break from his studies when his ghost sense activated. "Please be the Box Ghost! Please be the Box Ghost! Please be the Box Ghost!" He pleaded.

Vortex then revealed himself. "Danny Phantom, you will pay!" The weather ghost said.

"Why couldn't it be the Box Ghost?" Danny muttered and then went ghost.

"Now it's time for me to ice you." Vortex said and started a blizzard.

"Oh, no!" A nearby person screamed in terror. "No more summer vacation!"

"Is this guy for real?" Vortex asked.

"Beats me." Danny replied with a shrug. "But don't worry, Vortex. You'll have enough time to think about it inside a Fenton Thermos."

Five minutes later, it was anyone's fight until the Ghost Blasters showed up and captured the ghost. "Ghost Blasters stop disasters!"

"Thank you, Blasters." Danny replied.

Minutes after the Ghost Blasters took Vortex away, Danny received a video call from Natasha. "I've heard that a ghost attacked you and you needed the Ghost Blasters' help. Are you okay?"

"Yes, Natasha." Danny answered and then saw a sign that somebody else was calling him. "Sam's calling. May I make it a three-way call?"

"Sure thing, Danny." Natasha answered.

"Danny?" Sam asked. "I'm glad you're okay!" The goth exclaimed and then noticed Natasha was also there. "Uh, am I interrupting something?"

"No, I just called to see if he's okay, Sam." Natasha replied.

"Anyway, did the Ghost Blasters really upstage you, Danny?" Sam asked, ignoring the Princess.

"No, Sam." Danny answered. "They saved me."

"And you're okay with people thinking they're better ghost hunters than you?" Sam asked.

"Yes, Sam." Danny replied.

"Whatever." Sam muttered. "I'll leave the two lovebirds alone."

"So, any plans for the next weekend?" Danny asked Natasha after Sam left. "Wait! Tucker's calling."

Meanwhile, at the GiW headquarters, Agent Alpha was addressing Operatives O and K. "Thanks to data collected from Vlad Plasmius' lairs, we can recreate his barometer, that, as revealed by those data, didn't directly control the weather but rather controlled the weather ghost known as Vortex, which was recently captured by the Ghost Blasters. Once we recreate the barometer, we'll use Vortex to take over the Ghost Zone and eliminate all ghosts for good. Of course, such a delicate operation requires the best of our best operatives."

Operatives O and K smiled upon hearing that.

"And that's exactly why neither of you will be involved." Agent Alpha stated. "The both of you have already ruined too many operations."

"Name one time we did that." Operative O demanded and then remembered who he was talking to. "Sir."

"The two of you dismissed Danny Fenton as "too prepubescent" to be Danny Phantom." Agent Alpha pointed out.

"He did a good job faking it, Sir." Operative K argued.

"Says you." Agent Alpha said.

The next weekend, Danny and Natasha were enjoying tour attractions in the Kingdom of Zoravia. "Danny, are you enjoying the sights?" Natasha asked her boyfriend.

"Yes, and I enjoy seeing this park as well." Danny joked.

Meanwhile, back in Amity Park, Agent Alpha was trying to convince the Mayor into releasing Vortex into the Guys in White's custody. "Absolutely NOT!" The Mayor said. "I'd rather let the Ghost Blasters keep that ghost contained until Danny Phantom convinces me it's safe to send him back to the Ghost Zone and I don't see that happening so soon."

"Mr. Mayor, Vortex can be our greatest weapon against ghosts." Agent Alpha pleaded.

"And he can also be our undoing, Agent Alpha." The Mayor replied. "Have you learned nothing from when Plasmius thought he could control the ghost?"

"We learned how to make an even more powerful version of his barometer, Mr. Mayor." Agent Alpha answered.

"My answer is still "no", Agent Alpha." The Mayor replied.

Back in the Kingdom of Zoravia, Danny and Natasha were eating at a fancy restaurant. "Natasha, what's the local custom about sending compliments to the chef?" Danny asked. "Because this food is delicious."

"Danny, the Kingdom of Zoravia welcomes tourists from several countries, America included." Princess Natasha replied. "You don't need to worry about this. Yet."

Later on, Agent Alpha informed the Guys in White of the Mayor's refusal to cooperate. "Sir, why don't we simply steal Vortex from the Ghost Blasters?" Operative O suggested.

"Because almost nobody in that organization is as dumb as you, Operative O." Agent Alpha answered.

"We can intimidate them by pointing out we have access to their tax forms, Sir." Operative K suggested.

"K, what happened to your principles?" Agent Alpha asked in disgust. "We don't do that to others who keep law and order."

"Sorry, Sir." Operative K replied in shame.

Hours later, Danny was back in Amity Park. "Welcome home, son." Jack and Maddie said at the same time. "Did you like it, son?" Jack eagerly asked. "We spent hours practicing!"

"Jack!" Maddie scolded her husband.

Danny decided to defuse the situation. "So, did you have any ghostly emergencies to deal with while I was away?"

"No, unless the Box Ghost qualifies." Jack answered.

"He doesn't, Dad." Danny answered and his ghost sense triggered on.

"Hey!" The Box Ghost protested. "I have feelings!"

"And we have ecto-weapons." Maddie replied, scaring the ghost.

"Anyway, son, the closest thing to a ghostly emergency was the Guys in White trying to convince the Mayor to hand over Vortex to them." Jack commented after the Box Ghost left.

"Fortunately, the Mayor seems to be too afraid of the danger on ice that ghost represents." Maddie added.

"So, how was your date with Natasha?" Jack asked.
