Time to answer the reviews:
Star-Eyes Pendulum Dragon: Oh yes she is, but thankfully for her, it won't last that long. Not to mention, you are close to my idea with her and Soulburner. Also, can I use the card "Sacred Winds" from Yugioh 5d's-V? I kinda want to try it for Seigen.
A lone figure was in the middle of work, working on something that could help him in the hopes of getting the Fire Ignis so he could destroy the Cyberse. The man whose sole mission is to destroy the Ignis, and then get revenge towards SOL Tech for what they did to his father.
It was Varis, the leader of the Knights of Hanoi, and the one who will soon prove to be Soulburner's greatest foe.
He was moving data around in every direction as he was one of the best in the entire organization to make a virus. Second only to Baira, but that is no small feat. She herself admitted that given a few more years, he would be the best there is at creating in the Knights of Hanoi. It was to prove just how versatile and how much potential the young leader has.
It was only a few days, 4 at best, when The Shepherd was defeated by one of Soulburner's companions, Stormrider in a quick, but close match for the life of the Fire Ignis, with Stormrider coming up victorious. He had a thought about using one of his friends as bait. Sure he could've used the person that he gave the Fire Ignis to, but he knew one person that could bring out Soulburner the quickest.
Frostgirl, and he knows because of three reasons. One: Compared to Stormrider, Soulburner has shown way more comfortability of all the footage that he has gathered. Two: From the way that they act around each other, it has to mean that they have feelings towards each other and/or are in a relationship. Three: While he doesn't think she is dumb in any way you could twist it, he does however think compared to Stormrider, she isn't as intelligent compared to her friend. It was decided. She was going to be her scapegoat, but it doesn't mean that it will be easy in any sense.
He had to study her, her deck, its specific strengths and weaknesses and how she uses them. From all of the footage that he has gathered, he noticed that she uses an Ice Barrier deck, which was interesting as it was one of the only decks that specialize, not in Link Summoning, but in Synchro Summoning. Thanks to the new ruling, it made it easier for her to have as many Synchro monsters as possible and instead of only having 1.
While he didn't think much of the Main monsters, and how situational most of them were, he had to admit that they were pretty decent Spells like Medallion in which most decks would kill to get a monster to their deck, but that can't be the same for his own since his deck is almost perfect for that, and the Extra Deck monsters are some of the most impressive Synchro monsters he has seen. Granted they can not compete against the might of his own Synchro monster, but credit is where credit is due, those were perfectly good Synchro monsters.
What made it easier to know her strategy, was thanks to her Skill Ice Tune which is a Skill where the user sends one Trap or Spell from their hand in order to special summon an Ice Barrier Tuner monster from the deck, which is honestly a pretty good Skill, and it works out for her since it makes the consistency for Ice Barrier's work with it, and with the downside for one Spell or Trap card in your hand which is a fair trade off.
So he had an idea. Why not make a virus inside of a new card that he specifically made to help her out in a duel into it so he could gather data from the Fire Ignis, and not to mention, to lure Soulburner towards him. It wasn't the first time he did such a feat, he did once when he got his Ace Monster, Borreload Dragon. So he decided to make a Trap card that will help Frostgirl with her duel against Soulburner.
It is called Dark Sorcery Of The Ice Barrier. It featured an image of General Gentala, Wayne, Raiho, Grunard and Medium of the Ice Barriers on the front with their weapons ready as the enemy is shown to be Speaker For The Ice Barrier with an evil grin on her face as there was a dark aura around her as she held her index and middle fingers in front of her as on the back of her there was Gungnir, Brionac, Dewloren and Trishula of the Ice Barriers with powerful roars.
The effects are actually pretty good, with summoning a Tuner from the deck on the field if your opponent controls a Link Monster, summoning a lot of Ice Barrier monsters from the deck, and not to mention a way to stop Soulburner from using his Skill during the Speed Duel.
He wasn't an idiot. He knew that this card was powerful, but that didn't mean there wasn't a way to get out of a situation like that since it only has to be in the graveyard. Varis was cautious however, so he told everyone in the Knights Of Hanoi about the card and a way to get over it if by some miracle it didn't happen and he lost to Soulburner.
He first created an antidote to the virus since he wasn't a total monster that didn't care about human life, he did, but he thought that this was important against the Fire Ignis, so she could recover from it, even if he loses or wins the duel. He got the data of the antidote inside of him so only he has access to it unless he gives it to someone.
He was about finished with creating a virus so it can be correctly healed by the antidote as then a tall man with fair skin appeared behind Varis, but the leader of the Knights Of Hanoi wasn't shocked in the slightest, instead, he only looked behind his shoulders and had a small smile on his face. He had purple hair that went down to his neck, a circle-like beard that was also purple as he had yellow greenish eyes.
He wore a long black shirt which had a dark red shirt line that went down to his stomach, as it had red lining around the end of the shirt as it was a long sleeved shirt. In addition, he wore a lab coat that went down to his knees as he had red lines around his pockets and end of the sleeves. He wore gray pants and finally, had brown shoes.
"So this is where you have been for these past few days, huh, Varis?" asked the man as Varis merely nodded.
"That's right, father. My apologies that I haven't contacted you in a while." said Varis towards his father as his father shook his head for a bit.
"No, no it is alright, son. I just wanted to know what you were doing at this current moment." his dad told him, "I asked Faust where you were, but he didn't know. The same can be said for both Baira and Genome. Only Specter knew where you were." he looked over as he saw his son move some data around, and he wondered about something. "Say, what are you doing?" he asked his son as he looked at his father for a bit, but continued on with his work.
"Well, I am making a card for Frostgirl and then a virus with it, don't worry, I made an antidote along with it." Varis said as he moved the data and combined them into a singular piece of data, but he wasn't quite finished yet so he continued on with the creation of his virus.
"A card for Frostgirl? You made another card after your Ace monster? I thought you said you wouldn't do that." said the purple haired man. He was shocked to hear his own son create a card for a person he didn't even know their true identity.
"I never said I would stop. I said that I won't create cards for myself and to boost my deck into even higher heights." Varis told his father as he nodded.
"I understand, but why, may I ask, are you doing this? I thought you wanted to defeat Soulburner and his companions to get the Ignis, not to team up with them." asked the father of Varis as the man shook his head.
"Wrong, I am doing this for 3 reasons." he said as he pulled out his hand and showed his index finger as he continued on "One: I am simply using this opportunity so I could lure Soulburner into a duel." he then raised his middle finger, "Two: With this we have the ability to get the information on Soulburner's location and the data of the Fire Ignis." he then raised his ring finger, "Three: I want to learn if Soulburner's deck is capable of surviving even one duel without his Skill." he said the final part.
His father nodded with every word as he gave one of his more famous three reasons why as he realized that his son made three good points on why he is currently doing it. But then, a certain part of his mind realized the last point that he made. "Wait, Skill? Those are Speed Duel only effects." he said as Varis nodded as he placed two data and combined them into one.
A card appeared on Varis' hand as he threw the card towards his father, not even looking at him. His father caught the card in his hands and began reading it. He was kind of shocked that she uses Ice Barriers, but then she wouldn't be called Frostgirl if she used a deck that wasn't about the ice. He read the card and his eyes slightly widened when he read the card.
"Woah, son, this card is a powerful card in Speed Duels and even in regular Master Duels. I am sure that you don't plan on making a second copy." Varis nodded to his father as he nodded as well. "I am going to say, I am impressed with how you managed to create a good card and how well you are leading the Knights Of Hanoi at such a young age."
"Well, how could I not?" asked Varis as he stopped doing the final patches for the virus as he looked at his father in the eyes, with a serious expression on his face, "After what SOL Tech did to you, and placed you in a coma for not stopping the Ignis Project. After all of those simulations and how accurate they were." Varis gripped his hand as he looked at his father.
"I swear, that after I defeat Soulburner and get that Ignis of his, I will make sure that I will destroy the Cyberse World and then SOL Technologies." he said with a serious voice as he gritted his teeth.
His father looked at his son and smiled at him. He knows that even though he has massive issues with him and even knows about the incident that he committed a decade ago, he still cares about his father. "That's good to hear about that, Varis, but you did say you wanted a card that I made for you 5 years ago, right? Because I still have it." a card appeared in his hand as it was revealed to be Fire Prison, a strong Field Spell.
Varis turned around to continue with his work of creating a virus as he continued to talk to his father, "No, I don't think that would be necessary, and besides, I want to be the one to defeat him if he chooses not to give me the Fire Ignis." His father nodded as the card disappeared into the air.
Varis connected a few more data into one as then a burst of light appeared as Varis activated a button on his helmet and the glass protecting his eyesight turned into black so he could see even with the light as his father used his hand to cover up the light. After it was done, his father looked at the data in awe as his son grinned.
It was floating in the air, constantly spinning in all directions as it had the base of a normal Duel Monster card. It was green all around, but it wasn't anything like a Spell card, as it had no image or name as it had small pieces of data going around it.
"So that's the virus you made for Soulburner's companion, I gotta say, I am impressed. When Baira told me that you are quickly getting better than her, I thought she was joking." he said, "But I gotta ask. What does it specifically do?" he asked his son as Varis turned to him with the virus in his hands.
"Well, father, it can do many things. It can make the user of a card get corrupt and even get mind controlled for a short while, although it is not guaranteed. It weakens the AI of a duel disk, but it won't work on an advanced AI like an Ignis. Not only that, but it also sucks up data from an Ignis with it not noticing it as it is only small data, but even if it is small, it is still valuable. We can get the address, the name of said duelist, and more." explained Varis as his father's eyes widened as he felt immensely proud of his son.
It felt only yesterday when he was the same boy that played with the other kids and even became friends with a boy with blue and purple hair which looked similar to one of them.
"You have done well my son, and I feel proud for you for doing a well job at leading the Knights Of Hanoi." the man said as Varis nodded.
"Thank you, father, but I need the card back for my mission to work." he said with his hand raised to him.
"Oh my apologies, Varis, here you go." said the man as he sent the card towards his son as his son grabbed the card and the virus, and combined it into one card.
He looked at it and felt all of the hard work he made into the card and the virus working well like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. He felt the card like before, but he also felt the virus inside of it. It was a truly powerful card, but there was one massive downside which he took full advantage of.
If the owner of the card loses a duel, then they get into a coma, which only the antidote he made could work on it.
"It's time for my plan to go on." he stated, "Specter come here." he said as if on cue, Specter arrived in the same room as both Varis and his father.
"Yes, Master Varis? Do you need me to do something?" the white haired man asked as Varis took the card that he just made.
"Yes, I do need you to do something, but I have a question. Do you know Frostgirl?" he asked as Specter nodded.
"Of course I do. She is the one with the Ice Barrier deck and one of Soulburner's companions, but I do think that there is something between them that I can't put my finger on." said Specter as Varis smirked, "Why do you ask?"
"Well, for a simple reason." he looked at his right hand man, "She will be our scapegoat."
Specter's eyes slightly widened as he didn't think that he would say something like that, "Why do you mean by that?"
"I want you to give this card to her, as a different skin don't worry I installed one when you weren't looking, so then we will get a lot of different information out of them." he said as he threw the card towards him as he caught it. "Understood?"
"Well, not really, but I promised myself that I can't disappoint you, so I will do it." Specter said as he logged off. Varis grinned as he turned his eye to Soulburner and his pals. His father also logged off.
What was going normal as it was like an everyday thing for them. Soulburner, with the Fire Ignis, Stormrider and the person who will help with his plans unknowingly, Frostgirl, fighting the Knights of Hanoi and beating them. Some do get close to defeating them, but still lose a minute later by a card effect.
Right now, all three of them were dueling at the same time in Speed Duels. Soulburner had his Salamangreat Smoldering Bear and Heatleo on the field dueling a Knight of Hanoi with a Dark Magician on the field with no attack points due to Heatleo, Stormrider had his Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys on the field dueling a Knight Of Hanoi with a Cyber Angel Benten with only 300 life points remaining, and finally Frostgirl with her Dewloren, Tiger King Of The Ice Barrie with an added 1000 attack points due to their own effect against a Knight Of Hanoi with a Black Ray Lancer with only 1000 life points remaining.
Quite frankly, if they were the Commanders Of Hanoi, he would be disappointed that it they would be defeated so quickly and pathetically, but since they were low rated Knights, he didn't care as much.
"And now-"
"-since your-"
"-life points are-"
"-just low enough-"
"-we will commence-"
"Battle!" Soulburner, Stormrider and Frostgirl went one and another as they all thrusted their hands at the Knights Of Hanoi and then went in, "Salamangreat Heatleo/Sacred Phoenix Of Nephthys/Dewloren, Tiger King Of The Ice Barrier attacks your Dark Magician/Cyber Angel Benten/Black Ray Lancer!" They all said at the same time that a boy with silver hair, blue eyes, a regular red t-shirt, black shorts with brown shoes appeared.
Varis smirked as he knew who it was. Salamangreat Heatleo rushed towards Dark Magician with a raging fire as it burned the legendary magician, a powerful ball of fire appeared in Sacred Phoenix's mouth as it burned the powerful Ritual monster and Dewloren ran towards the XYZ monster and with its icy fangs, bit the powerful monster and it exploded. All three of the Knights of Hanoi fell from their hoverboards and onto the same building.
Soulburner: 2400 lp
Knight Of Hanoi: 1500 - 0 life points
Stormrider: 2700 lp
Knight Of Hanoi: 300 - 0 life points
Frostgirl: 2550 lp
Knight Of Hanoi: 1000 - 0 life points
SOULBURNER/STORMRIDER/FROSTGIRL: WINNER!
"Well that was a quick one." said Stormrider as the three nodded with him. Sure they were getting stronger with almost each duel, but that didn't mean that they are dominating each duel, but even then these were short duels.
"I concur, it feels like we are mowing down on the lesser parts of the Knights Of Hanoi," said Flame.
"To be fair, we did defeat at least 50 of them so it wouldn't be a shocker if got all of them." said Frostgirl.
"Yeah, but hey. At least we got some more of the more popular monsters." said Soulburner as he was glad that he got to destroy a monster used by the King Of Games, even in a short duel.
They all nodded at the same time, as they all landed on the building as the three Knights Of Hanoi. Flame took the shape of the same being, but they got so used to this form that they aren't even shocked at it, as he ate the avatars, making them logout Link VRAINS. Flame's body slightly grew.
"So, any new updates?" asked Soulburner as Flame closed his eyes.
"Wouldn't be shocked if there weren't any." said Frostgirl as she placed a hand on her hip.
"Honestly, same." said Stormrider as he stretched out his hand.
Flame's eyes then opened as he realized an important detail. "There is something important." they all looked at him, "I know the name of the leader of the Knights Of Hanoi." he said as their eyes widened.
"What?!"
"Really?!"
"C'mon, you gotta tell us, Flame!" said Frostgirl, Stormrider and Soulburner at the same time.
"There is another thing that I remember about him, and it was his voice, but I can't describe how old he is, but the name of the leader of the Knights of Hanoi is…" they all leaned in, "Varis."
They all had the same reaction: slight fear, but more confusion.
"Wait, Varis?" asked Frostgirl as Flame nodded.
"Kind of sounds like the word virus." said Soulburner as he rubbed the back of his head.
"Yeah, kind of a weird name don't ya' think?" asked Stormrider as Frostgirl turned to him.
"Yeah, if you want a cool name that strikes fear into your enemies, he could've used a better name than that." she said as she tried to think about a name, "Like, I don't know, Emperor to match the Knights estatics."
"Or King," said Soulburner.
"Or Queen, but that is more of a girl name though, wait was it a guy's voice?" she turned to Flame.
"I can confirm that it is indeed a boy's voice. I just can't connect to anyone else's voice." he said as they nodded.
"Okay. I think that is enough for today. We will try to get as much as tomorrow, so le-"
"Wait, a minute Frostgirl I need to talk to you!" Stormrider stopped talking as they all turned to the source of the voice and it looked like a boy that was around 10 years old. Why and how did Varis have this skin, he will never know.
Frostgirl was a bit shocked to hear that. She turned to the others and made a motion so they could logout a little bit earlier than her. They were reluctant, especially Flame as he had a bad feeling about this boy, but they all left. She then turned to the boy and knelt down to his level, "Okay. Now, what is it that you wanted to talk about?" she asked him.
Specter mentally cursed Master Varis as he hated this. "Well, I have this rare card in my collection, but it doesn't fit in my deck," he said as he took out the card and revealed it to her, as it was Dark Sorcery of The Ice Barrier, "and I watched your duels and I thought that you can use it!" he said with a smile as Frostgirl was shocked.
"Wow! A card for me, well thank you so much, but are you sure? Your parents aren't going to be mad at you?" she asked him as Specter's current avatar's nose flinched as he heard the word parents, but he kept his composure.
"No, I asked them and they said that I can give this to you." he said as Frostgirl took the card, reluctantly, as she felt a strange aura around the card as she grabbed the card, but didn't say anything.
"Alright if you say so." she said as she took the card. She then looked at the boy, "But, you must log out, it isn't safe here for kids like you and it is getting late."
Specter knew that he had to act like a 10 year old, even though he hates that idea, "Oh! Not you too! I hate when they say that!" he said as he crossed his arms and pouted. "Curse you Master Varis! Why do I have to do this?!"
Frostgirl shook her head, he was similar to her younger brother. "Come on cheer up, you have to know that your parents care for you and want nothing more than your safety." Specter gritted his teeth as he heard that sentence.
"I guess you are right." Specter lied as he looked at his duel disk, "Well, I have to go! I can't wait to see more of your duels!" he said as he logout.
"You too!" she waved as she looked at the card. Strange, she never knew this card existed of the Ice Barriers. Her eyes widened when she read the card. It was a powerful card that could help her in the fight against the Knights of Hanoi. A summon from the deck, not once, but twice!? And the added effect meant only for Speed Duels?! Sign her up!
But she felt immense darkness in this one card as if it is controlling her emotions, but she decided to ignore it. It wasn't like it would actually happen. She took the card and placed the card in her deck. She would really like to test the card with her not so subtle crush.
She looked at her duel disk and then logged off from Link VRAINS.
When she woke up, she saw the two of her friends watching Naruto: Shippuden in which Obito Uchiha became the 10 Tails Jinchuriki. Teddy was sitting the floor while Seigen sat on his bed. They were in Theodore's house and it was getting late. They have been watching Naruto and some other anime so they can catch up with some anime in their free time. Flame had his arms crossed as he looked confused on the whole matter as he was placed next to Kiku.
Theodore looked at her with a smile on his face, "Hey, Kiku. You woke up." he said as she looked at him with a smile.
"Yeah, I did." she said.
Seigen turned his eye towards her. "So, what did the kid want with you anyhow?" he asked.
"Oh it's nothing special, it's just a new Ice Barrier card that he gave me." she said as they looked confused.
"I thought you already have all of the Ice Barrier cards." said the silver-red haired boy as Kiku scratched her chin in confusion as well.
"I thought I did, but I guess that SOL Tech made new cards for the Ice Barrier archetype." the blue-haired girl said.
"I doubt it, honestly. They would've made an announcement, but then again it could happen as they did with the banlist of cards that are allowed." Seigen crossed his arms, "But still, I envy you."
"Huh?" Both Theodore and Kiku looked confused as they looked at their friend.
"Why?" asked Kiku.
"Because your archetype gets support, but my deck gets a total of like 16 cards! I had to add some tech cards so it could be usable." he said as they heard him out and then realized what he meant by that which made Theodore chuckle and Kiku giggle. Flame didn't say anything as he tried to understand the lore of Naruto.
"Really, that's it?" asked Theodore as Seigen looked at him.
"Yeah that's it! And don't try to say that crap! You have your own deck and some cards you could use! My deck doesn't have that!" said Seigen as his best friends laughed at that.
"Come on, Seigen, are you really that jealous? And for something so small?" she asked the brown haired boy as he rolled his eyes.
He then looked at her with a deadpan look, "Girl, you have possibly the strongest Synchro monster that can be splashed in any deck with a Tuner, don't try to say something like that."
"Okay fair enough." she said as she realized the next episode had started. Luckily she did watch some episodes ahead of them, so she doesn't mind rewatching scenes like the 3 way deadlock.
Kiku then looked at Theodore, the person that anyone who isn't the silver-haired boy knows that she has a crush on, and had a feeling of some kind, not the one she constantly has around him, but a feeling of testing something.
"Hey, Teddy." Theodore looked at Kiku when she said this.
"Hm?"
"Do you think," she rubbed the back of her neck in embarrassment, "the two of us can duel?"
Theodore didn't even need to think about the idea as he grinned, "Sure, we can duel!" he said, "But I don't think we can do it now."
She understood that part because it was getting late and she didn't want to worry her parents over a duel, while quick for Speed Duels, could result in her and them not knowing how much they had lost.
"I understand. Tomorrow after school?" she asked as Theodore nodded.
"Of course!" he said. Seigen and Flame looked at each other and had a small conversation which went like this: "Do you think that this will finally realize that they have feelings for each other?" "Probably not, but it is worth a shot." "True, and hey, we get to see these two in a duel while actually using their Skills." "Yeah, I do want to see that. I wonder what the card looked like. I tried looking it up, but it didn't show any results." "Eh. We have to wait and see. Do you want to have a bet?" "What kind of bet?" "To see who wins the duel. I bet a 20 that Frostgirl wins." "I do not see why not? Sure. I will see it in my bank account when Theodore wins." "You don't have one. You would use Teddy's." "Oh. Well, I can work with that."
They then heard Theodore's grandma telling them that dinner is ready and they can eat, all three of them went to eat leaving poor Flame alone with Kiku's duel disk.
He was bored at the moment. He couldn't continue watching the show since they paused, he couldn't see the stars since he couldn't really see it and he doesn't want to remind himself about those stories. So he decides to talk to Kiku's duel disk although it was straight forward.
"So…how fast is your processing speed?" asked Flame as he wasn't good with starting up a conversation.
"6 trillion instructions per second." said Kiku's duel disk.
"HAH! I have a total of 15 trillion instructions per second. Take that!" he said as the duel disk didn't respond at all. Flame sighed. What did he expect? This was his 9th time talking to it.
Seigen's duel disk doesn't even have an AI.
Although there was something off by the AI from Kiku's duel disk. He couldn't explain it, but it felt like his data was being sucked in by a tiny small hole the size of a drop of water and like it had dark energy around it like from those animated shows that Theodore likes to watch.
"There is something off by this, but I don't know what it is." thought Flame as he narrowed his eyes.
The Next Day
It was currently the next day, and it was going soundly for the four. But there were some things that were going strange around Kiku. For one she felt much more quiter than other times, there was that one time where she nearly hit a classmate because of making so much noise and that she felt more tired than before.
They asked her if she was okay in any way, and she said that she had an argument with Kiki at how he shouldn't be in her room and when she specifically told him that he shouldn't be there. Typical younger siblings.
Flame felt that he didn't feel safe around Kiku as he was before, but that might have been because of her duel disk making him uneasy at all times.
Unknown to anyone, the leader of Link VRAINS was waiting in the same room where he created the virus for Kiku. He placed a hand on his hip as he read all of the information from the Fire Ignis, but more of it was just pointless.
He saw two things that caught his eye: The name of the person that has the Fire Ignis, he took a step back as he couldn't believe what he was seeing, there was absolutely no way that could be possible, he knew that name, he was one of the Lost Incident survivors…
He shook his head, no, noone is going to know about this information. Not the regular Knight Of Hanoi, not one of the Commanders of Hanoi, not Specter, not even his own father will know about this information.
He looked at his hand and remembered that day as it was yesterday, when all 6 children were trapped in the rooms, trying to survive as then, they were all free. He felt happy for them, but it felt terrible on the inside as he knows that they haven't recovered from that, not that he could blame them in any way.
The second thing that caught his attention was the Skill from the Fire Ignis, or should I say Skills. He then saw the one that Soulburner constantly uses Burning Draw, where his life points drop down to 100 and he gets to draw cards equal to the amount of 1000 life points he lost to the effect. It was a great effect, but it felt to situational in his opinion and he didn't quite like how it could ruin his strategy, but the next, however, is another story.
It was called Storm Access. It had a strange, but at the same time, great cost. He first had to have his life points to 1000 or less, which is easy to do in his opinion, all he has to get hit by a strong monster, or use a cost, and then optimize that with it, but the effect was, the one that truly got his attention, that he can pull out from the data storm and get one Cyberse Link monster from it and add it to his Extra Deck, and if he understands this card perfectly, that card stays there permanently in his Extra Deck.
He grinned like a mad man, "Storm Access, eh? I have to admit you are a powerful effect. A one that will help me defeat Soulburner!" he yelled as he got Storm Access in his avatar and switched it from his former Skill, Rocket Blast, where he destroys a monster on his field, and then destroys one monster on his opponent's side of the field, and if the monster was a Rokket monster, he can add a Rokket from his deck.
Back to our heroes, when school was finished, the three went to Kiku's house, walked passed her parents and younger brother, and went into her room. They then went to Link VRAINS.
They all landed on a roof top as Soulburner, Stormrider and Frostgirl with Flame popping out of the duel disk, but still in his duel disk. They all looked at the Data Storm beneath them and then they looked at each other.
"So ready for our rematch?" asked Soulburner as Frostgirl grinned.
"Of course, just prepare for your butt to be kicked in this." she said as Soulburner grinned as well.
"Well, the same can be said for you 'cause I am not going down without a fight." he said.
Stormrider wanted to get a bowl of popcorn as they continued onwards for about 3 minutes. They needed to get laid and fast.
After about 3 minutes they finally stopped as then the all jumped in the Data Storm with their hover boards beneath them as they all rode on the storm.
Frostgirl turned to Soulburner and then, without saying anything, they readied their duel disks and yelled, "DUEL!"
Frostgirl: 4000 lp
Soulburner: 4000 lp
Speed Duel!
Turn 1.
As Soulburner drew his top four cards he looked at Frostgirl, "You know, what they say. Ladies first." he said as Frostgirl smiled.
"Aww, you are such a gentleman, Soulburner, but sadly, you will regret that." she said as she swiped her hand to reveal the four cards in her hand. She placed a hand under her chin as she thought about a way to make this work, but then realized a decent combo.
"Okay, I will start by summoning Blizzed, Defender Of The Ice Barrier in defense mode!" she said as then a small light blue bird as the tip of the wings were made out of ice. It had a yellow mask on its head. It had ice around its claws, chest and beak. It had a deep blue armour around its chest. It was in an X position.
(Blizzed, Defender Of The Ice Barrier: Level 1 - Water Aqua - Attack: 300. Defense: 500.)
"Hm, a new monster that we haven't seen yet." Flame crossed his arms as Soulburner nodded, "We must be careful around that monster, who knows what effect it might have." he said.
"Yeah, but knowing Ki- Frostgirl, I really have to get the hang of this, she won't make this easy." Soulburner narrowed his eyes.
"Oh, and I won't." she took a card from her hand and said, "I will now end my turn with a face down!" she said as a card was set vertically, before it disappeared.
Turn 2. Soulburner - 4000 lp - 4 cards
"That's all that she could've done in this turn? Something is up." thought Soulburner as he looked at the top card in his deck and yelled, "Alright! It is my turn! I draw!" he yelled as he drew the top card in his deck and flipped it. He grinned.
"I'll start by summoning Salamangreat Fennec in attack mode!" on his side of the field appeared a rather large fennec fox as it was mechanical in some parts, but it still felt alive. It had an orange colouring scheme around the face, chest, tail and knees, a purple colouring scheme in its ear, legs and chest, and it was silver around the back area and around its head and face as it also had green eyes. On the back of it was fire on the tail.
(Salamangreat Fennec: Level 3 - Fire Cyberse - Attack: 1600. Defense: 200.)
"Soulburner, don't forget about one card in your hand." said Flame as Soulburner nodded.
"Right on, Flame! When I summon a Salamangreat monster, I get to special summon my Salamangreat Fowl on my side of the field!" he said as he took a card from his hand and slammed it on his duel disk.
On his side of the field appeared a rather beautiful bird as it reminded them of a peacock. It had blue wings at the back and green near the body, as its wings on the body was black, purple and blue. It had gray wings on the top with crystals on them. It had yellow eyes. On the back there were flames from the monster.
(Salamangreat Fowl: Level 4 - Fire Cyberse - Attack: 1800. Defense: 200.)
Flame narrowed his eyes at the lone set card on Frostgirl's side of the field, "Soulburner."
"Yeah?" he turned to his partner.
"I suggest using Fowl's effect this turn on her only set card." Soulburner was confused as he read Fowl's second effect, as he then nodded with a small grin.
"Alright!" he said as he took a card from his hand, "I send Salamangreat Spinny from my hand to the graveyard in order to activate my Salamangreat Fowl's effect!" he pointed at Frostgirl's only set card, "You for the rest of your turn, can not activate that set card!" he yelled as the wings from Fowl burned as it jumped forward and tried to attack her set card.
"I don't think so!" she yelled, shocking all of them as she swiped her hand to pick a card from hand and revealed it, "I send my Effect Veiler in order to negate a monster's effect for the rest of the turn and I choose your Fowl!" she yelled as Effect Veiler appeared on the field and stopped the fire attack from Fowl.
"Dang it." said Soulburner as he sighed. He then looked at Fennec and then at Flame as they both nodded, "I will now blaze my circuit!" fire appeared at the tip of his fingers as then it went forward and created a small circuit. "The Summoning Conditions is one Level 4 or lower Cyberse monster, so I set my Fennec in the Link Arrows!" he yelled as the small fox went towards the bottom Link Arrow.
"I Link Summon! Link-1, Salamangreat Balelynx!" on his side of the field, on his Extra Monster Zone, appeared a small lynx on his side of the field. It had a combination of red, orange, gray and black colouring schemes, as it had a small gem on the top of its head, jet boosters on the back of the monster that had flames on them and on its tail had fire.
(Salamangreat Balelynx: Link - Fire Cyberse - Attack: 500. Link-1. Link Arrows: Bottom-Middle.)
"When this monster is special summoned, we get to add a Salamangreat Sanctuary from our deck to our hand!" Flame said as a card popped out of his duel disk as Soulburner took it and placed it in his hand.
"And now, I will blaze the circuit one more time!" From the tip of his fingers appeared a circuit as he began yelling, "The Summoning Conditions are 2 Fire Effect monsters! So I set my Fennec and Balelynx in the Link Arrows!" he yelled as the two monsters went to two different Link Arrows.
"I Link Summon! Link-2, Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf!" The monster emerged from the circuit as a wolf whose entire chest is on fire and even when around its back in a powerful fashion. It had red eyes, and had white fangs that can destroy everything in its way. It had a silver tail, thighs, arms, hands, stomach and head, while it had light green thighs, abs and a part of its head, and its hands, knees and crotch were dark green.
(Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf: Link - Fire Cyberse - Attack: 1800. Link-2. Link Arrows: Top-Middle, Bottom-Middle.)
Soulburner pushed his arm forward as he announced his next move, "Now I activate the effect of Salamangreat Spinny from my graveyard! I can special summon it from my graveyard, but it gets banished when it leaves the field!" he yelled as he then took a card from his graveyard and then summoned it on his field.
On his field appeared an armadillo lizard who was in a ball and also on fire. The spikes were golden and black at the same time, as the rest of its skin was brown, gold and black. It was summoned on Sunlight Wolf's bottom Link Arrow.
(Salamangreat Spinny: Level 3 - Fire Cyberse - Attack: 1000. Defense: 1500.)
Flame pushed his arm forward as he began to explain the next move, "Since, a monster was summoned on Sunlight Wolf's Link Arrow, we get to get one monster back from our graveyard!" he yelled as Soulburner took a card from his graveyard and took it.
He looked at his hand, Sanctuary doesn't feel right now, Fowl can't be summoned at the current moment, but the two cards in his hand on the other hand, "Before I start the battle, I will set two cards face down!" he yelled as two cards were set vertically and disappeared behind Sunlight Wolf and Spinny.
"Battle! Sunlight Wolf attacks your Blizzed with Sunlight Blast!" he yelled as on the palm of the hand of Sunlight Wolf appeared a flame so hot that it could melt Blue-Eyes ice, but unfortunately, that won't happen.
"I wouldn't say that, as I activate my Trap! Ice Barrier!" she yelled as her Trap revealed itself as she began explaining, "When you declare an attack, that monster's attack is now turned to 0 and its effects are negated!" she yelled as from it appeared a blizzard directed towards Sunlight Wolf as it was encased in solid ice.
They had an urge to yell that they were frozen today, but they decided not to.
Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf: 1800 - 0 attack points
"Well damn." that's all that Soulburner could say as he didn't know that ice could put out a fire like that.
"She got you good, huh man?" Stormrider said as his best friend rolled his eyes.
"Well, yeah, but still, I have one attack left! Spinny attack her Blizzed with Burning Spindash!" he yelled as his monster went into a fetal position and then charged up its speed like Sonic The Hedgehog and then went towards the Ice Barrier monsters, catching it on fire.
Frostgirl had to cover herself from the small explosion, but not before telling about her monster's new effect. "Thanks for that," he looked at her in confusion as a card appeared on her duel disk, "because when Blizzed is destroyed by battle, I get to draw 1 card!" she yelled as she drew her top card.
Soulburner clicked his tongue as Flame nodded, "Not bad, she managed to use her monster's destruction to her advantage." he said.
"Yeah. I end my turn." he stated as he had a small grin on his face, clearly enjoying this duel as it was nice to have a duel that was for fun and nothing more. How wrong he was.
Turn 3. Frostgirl - 4000 lp - 2 cards
"My turn, I draw!" she yelled as a card appeared on the top of her deck as she drew it. She looked at it, and smiled. "To start, I activate the Spell, Card Of Adversity!" a card materialized in front of them as she began to explain her next move. "If I control no monsters, and you control special summoned monsters, I get to draw 2 cards from my deck!" she did so as two cards appeared on the top of her deck and drew it.
She then looked at the two cards in her hand and grinned when she saw one of them, but then felt something in her when she looked over at her new card, Dark Sorcery of The Ice Barrier. It was dark and malicious as she looked at the Fire Ignis and her eyes turned slightly purple when she looked at her, which freaked them out a bit. She shook it off, it was nothing big, right?
She looked at her duel disk and then pushed her arm forward, "I activate the effect of Ice Barrier from my graveyard! I banish it," she said as her Trap appeared on the field, only to be sucked in by a purple hole as she then swiped her hand to reveal a card that wasn't from her hand, "and I send one Level 5 or lower Ice Barrier from my deck to the graveyard like my General Wayne!" she said as her card disappeared.
A card then appeared from her duel disk to which she took it, "Now I can add a Water monster from my graveyard back to my hand! So return Blizzed!" she said. She then swiped her hand to reveal 5 cards in her hand as then she picked one of them, "I now activate my Spell Magic Triangle Of The Ice Barrier!" she yelled as her card materialized on the field.
"Oh no." Soulburner's eyes widened as he remembered that card in their previous match.
"Oh dear."
"Oh yes." said Stormrider as he really wanted to grab a bowl of popcorn for this duel.
"Oh yes indeed. With this I have to reveal my three different Ice Barriers from my hand," she did so as her cards were revealed to be Blizzed, General Grunard Of The Ice Barrier and Strategist Of The Ice Barrier in her hand, "So I can now destroy one card on your side of the field!" she yelled as she thought about which one. On his Salamangreat's won't be a good option since of Balelynx in the graveyard, so she pointed at one of his set cards.
"I will pick my left one!" she yelled as from the Spell card appeared a blizzard as it went towards the Trap card, as it was revealed to be Energy Of Fire and it was destroyed.
"Shoot!" Soulburner as he covered himself from the blizzard, but thankfully he didn't feel anything cold because of Flame being his fire source.
"Now, the second effect of my Magic Triangle activates! I get to special summon one Ice Barrier from my hand! So appear, General Grunard Of The Ice Barrier!" On her side of the field appeared a monster that was like a samurai because of its armour, which was made in solid ice. The cloth was black. He had red hair and green eyes. He wore a massive helmet on the top of his head made out of solid ice. He wore a massive ice sword that was too big to carry for anyone else and around him were ice swords.
(General Grunard Of The Ice Barrier: Level 8 - Water Aqua - Attack: 2800. Defense: 1000.)
"You know, at least it isn't Guntala." Soulburner said as he really didn't like facing that monster.
"Yeah, however he has never seen this monster before and we must be careful." said Flame as Soulburner nodded.
"Right!"
"Well, you shouldn't be too careful, since his effect is a simple one. Since with him, I can Normal Summon twice!" she said as Stormrider's eyes widened.
"Well damn."
"So I now summon two monsters! My Blizzed and Strategist of The Ice Barrier!" she said as her Blizzed appeared on the field and then another monster with it as it was revealed to be an old magician as he wore a cloak and a hat.
(Blizzed, Defender Of The Ice Barrier: Level 1 - Water Aqua - Attack: 300. Defense: 500.)
(Strategist Of The Ice Barrier: Level 4 - Water Spellcaster - Attack: 1600. Defense: 1600.)
"However, Blizzed won't be staying for long! Since I activate Strategist's effect! I can tribute an Ice Barrier like my bird," she said as he disappeared from the field, "I can now draw one card from my deck!" she yelled as she drew a card from her deck.
She looked at it and it was Speaker For The Ice Barrier. A monster that she plans to save for the next turn, but it was weird that it was on the artwork of Dark Sorcery, but she decided to ignore it for now.
She read Dark Sorcery's effects one more time before nodding. This is the perfect time to do this, "I now activate my Skill! Ice Tune!" she yelled as the red lining all over her began to glow widening Soulburner's eyes.
She picked her only Trap in her hand, "With this, I can send one Trap or Spell from my hand, in order to special summon one Ice Barrier Tuner monster from my deck!" she said as she sent the only Trap in her hand to her graveyard, as then small pieces of the energy of the Trap card went to all of her body, but it wasn't fully visible and she didn't feel for now.
Frostgirl stopped as her hand shook when she did that as she felt the immense power of the virus going all over her, but she had to go through with it, as she picked up a card from her duel disk and showed it to her crush and the Fire Ignis. "I special summon Cryomancer Of The Ice Barrier!"
On his side of the field appeared a dark tan man wearing a cloak around his body that was gray on the top, but on the bottom it was red, blue and yellow. He wore a bandana on the top of his head. He wore an ice staff on his hand.
(Cryomancer Of The Ice Barrier: Level 2 - Tuner - Water Aqua - Attack: 1300. Defense: 0.)
"A Tuner monster." noted Flame as he narrowed his eyes when he saw that monster.
"No way…now?!" yelled Stormrider.
Soulburner's eyes widened when he knew something was about to happen, "She is going to Synchro Summon!"
"That's right!" yelled Frostgirl as then everything turned black and white, with the exception of her green eyes. Varis grinned as he knew what was about to happen since he left out a tiny detail, with every Extra Deck monster summoned, the virus gets stronger.
"I tune my Level 4 Strategist of the Ice Barrier with my Level 2 Cryomancer Of The Ice Barrier!" she yelled as her Tuner monster turned into 2 gates as Strategist went through it, becoming hollow representing 4 stars.
2 + 4 = 6!
She then began to chant, "Appear, the monster coming from the storm of Absolute Zero as your fangs rip through the enemies skin! I Synchro Summon! Appear, Dewloren, Tiger King Of The Ice Barrier!"
On her side of the field appeared a large tiger with dark ice blue fur on the top of the body, around its paws and the end of the tail, but most of the paws, legs, head, backside and tail was a greenish blue fur. It wore a body armour that was both golden and black. Around the shoulder pads were massive amounts of ice. It was in Frostgirl's only Extra Monster zone. It roared when summoned.
(Dewloren, Tiger King Of The Ice Barrier: Synchro - Level 6 - Water Beast - Attack: 2000. Defense: 1400.)
Soulburner took a step backwards as Flame looked at the monster. It made Sunlight Wolf look like a puppy in comparison. Stormrider was ready to get his 20 dollars from Flame.
Frostgirl looked at her field with a grin as then she felt something powerful in her as her eyes turned purple and parts of dark energy went around her, but it was visible for them yet. However, she continued, "Battle! Dewloren attacks your Sunlight Wolf! Frozen Crunch!" she yelled as her monster jumped towards Sunlight Wolf as its teeth turned into Blue-Eyes ice.
"Soulburner! The Trap card! Now!" yelled Flame as Soulburner nodded.
"Right! I activate the effect of my Trap, Salamangreat Ascetic!" he said as his Trap revealed itself, "When an opponent's monster declares an attack, I can tribute a Salamangreat Link monster, like my Sunlight Wolf, and end the Battle Phase!" he said as his monster was tributed which made the Synchro monster stop in its track. It looked around as it then went towards Frostgirl.
Frostgirl sighed, "Like always, you never want to go down without a fight. I end my turn." she said as the virus began taking over, as she didn't know how to stop it. However, she didn't react at all which made them not notice it.
Turn 4. Soulburner - 4000 lp - 2 cards
Unbeknownst to anyone else, Varis looked at the duel with a smile on his face as even without his new card, she was still on top of the game during this duel, but he realized something was off by Frostgirl. He grinned, "So…it has started."
"Of course! It would be boring! I draw!" he yelled as he drew the top card in his deck and flipped it. He had a small smirk on his face as he did so.
He then looked over Frostgirl and noticed a thing about her…it was strange. It looked like she was having an internal fight, but every second looked like she was losing. She had a smile on her face to show that she wasn't affected at all, but he knew that was a lie.
He looked at Stormrider and Flame, who both looked like they realized what was going on. He wanted to end the duel right now to see if she is alright, but he knew that she wouldn't allow that.
Soulburner looked at the Fire Ignis, "Flame," the said AI looked at him, "Start it up."
It didn't take a rocket scientist to realize what he meant by that as Flame nodded. He slapped together his hands as fire appeared all over him. "Go for it, Soulburner!" he yelled as Soulburner smacked his chest plate with his hand.
"I activate my Skill! Burning Draw!" he yelled as fire appeared all over his hand.
As then something in her snapped as she dropped her head in an almost dead silence, which worried them, but a second later, she said, "Pointless."
"What?" asked Soulburner.
"Pointless! Pointless! That's pointless! Pointless!" she yelled as dark energy went all around her as she grew a demonic smile on her face and her eyes widened.
"What the!? What happened, Kiku?! What's pointless!" he asked in a frantic way as she looked at him.
"Your Skill. Because if Dark Sorcery of The Ice Barrier is in my graveyard, you can not use your Skill!" she said as the dark energy went all around her, shocking everyone from it.
"WHAT?!" yelled both Soulburner and Stormrider.
"An Anti-Skill card?!" yelled Flame in shock as Frostgirl nodded.
"That's right! Now, your only way of beating me has lost its way!" Frostgirl said.
Soulburner looked at her in horror. Not because of the effect or how she is in the lead. No, because the sole reason for doing this, one of the kindest people he has ever met, his best friend, the person he…loved into this. He gritted his teeth and clenched his hand together.
He had to think about how he could turn the tables in this turn, but he had nothing. Fowl he has to save for later, Sanctuary would be destroyed, and the other one has a too big of a level, but wanted to save it for his next turn.
He then remembered a Trap from his graveyard, "I activate Salamangreat Ascetic from my graveyard! I target 1 Salamangreat monster and 1 Salamangreat Link monster from my graveyard, I get to return the Link monster, like my Sunlight Wolf." he said as he took the card from his graveyard straight to his Extra Deck, "So I can now special summon the non-Link monster. So come out Fennec!"
On his side of the field appeared Salamangreat Fennec in an X position.
(Salamangreat Fennec: Level 3 - Fire Cyberse - Attack: 1600. Defense: 200.)
Soulburner gritted his teeth as he looked at her. He promised himself that he will save her. "I end my turn." he said.
Turn 5. Frostgirl - 4000 lp - 1 card
"My turn. I draw!" she drew the top card of her deck and then she grinned. She activated the card she just drew, "I activate the Spell, Akashic Record!" a card materialized in front of her as she began explaining her move, "With this I get to draw 2 cards!" she did so as two cards appeared on her duel disk, but then she revealed the two cards.
"However, if they were cards that I used during this duel, I would have to banish them!" she yelled as the two cards revealed themselves as Dewdark of The Ice Barrier and Card Of Compensation.
"Damn it! She hasn't used those cards yet." Soulburner said as he gritted his teeth.
"Don't forget about Card Of Compensation. If she sends that card to the graveyard, she gets to draw two cards from her deck." advised Flame as Soulburner readied his duel disk.
"Right."
"You should be worried since now I summon one of the cards I just drew, Dewdark of The Ice Barrier!" she yelled as then on her side of the field appeared a ninja-like monster on his side of the field with yellow hair, purple robes and blue gauntlets with yellow lining on them as they were around his hips, hands and feet. He also wore a purple scarf and an ice shuriken and dagger.
(Dewdark Of The Ice Barrier: Level 2 - Tuner - Water Aqua - Attack: 1200. Defense: 800.)
Frostgirl picked up a card from her hand with a sadistic smile on her face, "What good does a Tuner go without a monster to Tune it with? So, if I control an Ice Barrier monster, I can special summon this! Speaker For The Ice Barrier!"
On her side of the field appeared a small girl with light blue hair and eyes. She wore a yellow choker, a blue robe with orange lining separating it from the beige part of the robe while wearing a white dress. On her side was a Shiba Inu with emerald eyes and wore a helmet that covered its forehead.
(Speaker For The Ice Barriers: Level 4 - Water Spellcaster - Attack: 1000. Defense: 1800.)
"A Level 4 and 2." Stormrider's eyes widened as he knew what was about to happen. Another one of them. He gripped his hands as he knew that there was no way to stop this.
She grinned, "Glad that you can count, Stormrider, because I tune my Level 4 Speaker For The Ice Barriers with my Level 2 Dewdark of The Ice Barriers!" she yelled as everything turned black and white with the exception of her blue eyes as her Dewdark turned into 2 gates as her Speaker went through it as she began turning hollow and then representing 4 stars.
2 + 4 = 6!
She then began to chant, "Appear, the dragon from the ice as its breath can turn its enemies into the very ice! I Synchro Summon! Appear, Brionac, Dragon of The Ice Barrier!" on her side of the field appeared a massive dragon that went around the 3 duelists. It was the same size as Uria, Lord Of Searing Flames, but instead of hot crimson blood red skin, its skin was that of cold, blue skin as it would be impossible to penetrate through. It had tiny arms, but sharp claws around them. It had massive wings that almost destroyed the buildings around it. It had an orange gem on the top of its head. Its breath was as cold as its skin.
It was on the right side of Grunard and below Dewloren. The virus fully took over Kiku's body as her entire body was flowing through with the dark energy.
(Brionac, Dragon Of The Ice Barrier: Synchro - Level 6 - Water Sea Serpent - Attack: 2300. Defense: 1400.)
"Two Synchro monsters…I can't believe that I am on the backing side of that combination." said Soulburner as he took a step back.
"Indeed, but I do believe we are safe as long there is only 2 of them, and nothing mo-"
"I then activate the effect of Dark Sorcery of The Ice Barrier from my graveyard!"
"Ahh byte!"
"You and your big mouth!"
"I have to banish this card from my graveyard," she said as the card appeared only to be sucked in by a purple portal. At least they can use Burning Draw next turn if they survive.
Key word: If.
"So I can target one Ice Barrier monster like my General Grunard," she said as she pointed at her Level 8 monster, "and tribute him." and it disappeared.
Two cards appeared on top of her duel disk to which she took them, "Which I can now special summon from my deck whose combined levels are equal to or less than then the tributed monster. Grunard was a Level 8, so I special summon my Level 3 Geomancer of the Ice Barrier and my Level 4 Dance Princess of The Ice Barrier! So come out!" she yelled out as she filled her monster zones.
Both of the special summoned monsters were women. One had red hair that was divided into 4 pigtails, as she wore a purple cloak with blue robes around her neck, hips and hands, she held a dreamcatcher with a purple tail on the bottom, as finally she wore blue pants, and the other had purple hair that went to her shoulders as she wore a purple scarf, as she wore an uniform that was red and black, as she also wore a brown jacket around the top part of her body as she wielded two massive shurikens.
(Dance Princess Of The Ice Barrier: Level 4 - Water Spellcaster - Attack: 1700. Defense: 900.)
(Geomancer Of The Ice Barrier: Level 3 - Tuner - Water Spellcaster - Attack: 800. Defense: 1200.)
All three of their eyes widened as they realized what that meant. "No way." said Soulburner as Flame realized what was about to happen. Stormrider placed his hand on top of his mouth.
"Yes way!" everything turned black and white the exception of Frostgirl's green eyes, "I tune my Level 4 Dance Princess of The Ice Barrier with my Level 3 Geomancer of The Ice Barrier!" she roared as her Geomancer turned into 3 gates as her Dance Princess went into it as she turned hollow, turning into 4 stars.
3 + 4 = 7!
She then began to chant, "Appear, the dragon whose very own entry causes a never ending blizzard of doom! I Synchro Summon! Gungnir, Dragon Of The Ice Barrier!" On her side of the field appeared a massive dragon that was bigger than both Dewloren and Brionac. It was made out Blue-Eyes as it created a blizzard just by flapping its wings. Inside of it was something like magma as it went through the monster as it looked at his opponent and snarled.
(Gungnir, Dragon Of The Ice Barrier: Synchro - Level 7 - Water Dragon - Attack: 2500. Defense: 1700.)
Just like that, Frostgirl managed to summon out three of her Synchro monsters in the span of 2 turns. It was impressive at how she managed to use every card to her advantage as all three of her monsters roared in power as the rest of them covered their ears.
Varis looked at the three monsters and grinned, "It seems that the card that I gave to her worked out amazingly. All she has to do is to activate her monster's effects, and this is all over." he said as he looked on at the duel.
"I activate Gungnir's effect! I can discard one card from my hand," Frostgirl said as she picked the only card in her hand as it disappeared from her hand, "So your Fennec is destroyed! Ice Breath!" she yelled as from the mouth of Gungnir appeared a massive amount of ice as it was sent towards Fennec, destroying it.
Soulburner thought about using Balelynx, but he decided to keep it in his graveyard for later.
Two cards appeared on top of Frostgirl's duel disk, "Now, my Card Of Compensation's effect activates! When it is sent from my hand to the graveyard, I get to draw 2 cards from my deck!" she did so as she discarded one card from her hand, "Now I activate Brionac's effect!" she yelled.
She picked a card from her hand, "I send one card from my hand, in order to return one monster from your field back your hand, but since Spinny gets banished when it leaves the field, it gets banished! Ice Beam!" she roared as from the mouth of Brionac appeared a massive amount of ice as it went towards the Fire Cyberse monster, destroying it and Soulburner's only defense.
"She won." said Varis.
"I won. Battle! Brionac attack him directly with Ice Beam!" she yelled as from the mouth of the Synchro monster a massive amount of ice appeared as it went straight towards Soulburner.
"Soulburner!" yelled Stormrider as he saw his best friend near death's door if this goes through.
"Summon it, now!" yelled Flame as Soulburner grinned.
"Right on! When an attack is declared, I get to special summon this bad boy! Salamangreat Parro!" he yelled as he took a card from his hand as then on his side of the field appeared a massive parrot as the feathers were on fire for the main part of the body, it had red feathers on the wings at the top, gray coloured feathers on the middle and at the bottom blue wings, and with the tails, they were red, blue and yellow. It was in attack mode due to its effect.
(Salamangreat Parro: Level 6 - Fire Cyberse - Attack: 2000. Defense: 1000.)
"Damn it!" cursed Frostgirl as she shook her head, "Well it doesn't matter! Brionac destroys your bird! Ice Beam!" she yelled as from the mouth from Brionac was shot a powerful beam made out of ice as it tried to destroy Parro.
"Not so fast, I banish from my graveyard Salamangreat Balelynx to negate my monster's destruction!" he yelled as he took his card out from the graveyard as the attack got weaker, but it was still strong enough for Soulburner and Parro to feel it.
"But you still take the damage!" she yelled.
Frostgirl: 4000 lp
Soulburner: 4000 - 3700 life points
"Since it wasn't destroyed the first time, my Gungnir will destroy it this time! Ice Breath!" she yelled as from the mouth of her Synchro monster a massive ball of ice as it went straight towards Parro, making a small explosion.
Despite Soulburner losing most of his life points, it felt good to know that he won't lose this turn.
Frostgirl: 4000 lp
Soulburner: 3700 - 3200 life points
"Now this is the end of my Battle Phase! Dewloren attacks you directly! Frozen Crunch!" she yelled as her tiger jumped towards Soulburner as its teeth became ice teeth and it crunched his arm. He tried not to yell as the tiger went back towards Frostgirl.
Once it was stopped, Soulburner took several deep breaths.
Frostgirl: 4000 lp
Soulburner: 3200 - 1200 life points
Frostgirl grinned, "This is near your end. I end my turn!"
Turn 6. Soulburner - 1200 lp - 2 cards
Soulburner was quiet. It was not a normal way he was acting the entire time. He was mostly loud, full of energy, and ready for a duel, but this time it was different.
He felt nothing in this moment, except for one thing. One emotion that was overpowering the other. Pure anger.
He knew that it was the power of Hanoi. He promises himself that he will destroy whoever did this to her. He gritted his teeth and gripped his hand in angry fashion.
He then looked at her once again as he took a deep breath. He will in this one turn. "My turn! I…DRAW!" he yelled at the top of his lungs as he drew the top card of his deck and flipped it. He smirked, "Perfect."
"When I control no monsters on my side of the field, I get to activate the Equip Spell card, Rising Fire!" he said as the card materialized on his side of the field, "With this, I can special summon a Fire monster from my graveyard, so I revive Salamangreat Parro with an added boost of 500 attack points!"
On his side of the field appeared Salamangreat Parro in attack position with a small red glow around it for a bit.
(Salamangreat Parro: Level 6 - Fire Cyberse - Attack: 2000 (- 2500.). Defense: 1000.)
Flame realized what was going so he nodded with his partner's move.
"Why would you summon that monster? It's nothing compared to my monsters!" yelled Frostgirl with the virus going around it.
"Oh it's simple! I activate my Parro's second effect! I tribute this monster on my side of the field," he said as his monsters disappeared from the field as he pushed his arm forward, "so I can now gain 2000 life points!" he said as he was glew red for a bit.
Frostgirl: 4000 lp
Soulburner: 1200 - 3200 life points
Stormrider grinned, "Great! Now you can activate your Skill!" he said as his best friend gave him a thumbs up behind him.
He looked at Flame, "Start it up!" he yelled as Flame nodded with him.
"On it!" he said as combined his two hands together as fire appeared all around his body like a volcano.
"I activate my Skill Burning Draw!" he yelled as he slapped his chest piece as fire appeared on the tip of his finger tips and went straight towards his deck and placed his index and middle fingers on the top of his deck. "My life points are now dropped to 100 and then I get to draw 1 card for every 1000 life points dropped!"
Frostgirl: 4000 lp
Soulburner: 3200 - 100 life points
Flame looked at his partner with narrowed eyes, "Bring The Heat, Soulburner!" he yelled as his partner nodded with him.
"I…BURNING…DRAW!" he yelled as then he drew the 3 cards from his deck in blazing fury as it was like a bullet. He then looked at the three cards. He grinned at the cards as he knew what combo would save her.
He picked up a card from his hand, "I now normal summon Salamangreat Jack Jaguar!" On his side field appeared a jaguar with blue eyes with a gem on his chest, he had 6 spikes on its back that were made out of magma that was on fire. Its skin was green, black, gray and blue in some parts and its tail was that of magma.
(Salamangreat Jack Jaguar: Level 4 - Fire Cyberse - Attack: 1800. Defense: 1200.)
Flame pushed his arm forward as he yelled the next move, "When a Salamangreat monster was summoned on the field, our Salamangreat Fowl gets special summoned on our side of the field!" he said as Soulburner took the card and slammed the card on his duel disk.
As then on his side of the field appeared a Fire Cyberse peafowl in defense mode.
(Salamangreat Fowl: Level 4 - Fire Cyberse - Attack: 1800. Defense: 200.)
"Now it's time for me to blaze the circuit!" he said as from the tip of his fingers appeared fire as then a circuit appeared from it as he began to explain, "The Summoning Conditions are 2 Fire monsters, so I set my Salamangreat Fowl and Jack Jaguar in my Link Arrows!"
His two monsters went towards the 2 Link Arrows like before as it went to the top and bottom ones in a fast manner that was on fire. "I Link Summon! Link-2, Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf!" he yelled as from the circuit appeared his Link-2 monster that he summoned on his 1st turn. The monster roared in power as fire went higher.
(Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf: Link - Fire Cyberse - Attack: 1800. Link-2. Link Arrows: Top-Middle, Bottom-Middle.)
Frostgirl snorted, "Really? That's all that you can do in one turn? That's pretty sad even for you."
"Who said I am done?" he said as he took a card from his graveyard, "I activate my Salamangreat Jack Jaguar's effect! I can shuffle Salamangreat monster from my graveyard, like my Fowl," he said as he took the card and placed it on his deck and then it got shuffled, "So I can special summon it on my field next to a Link monster's Link Arrows!" he said as he slammed the card on his duel disks.
On his side of the field appeared a jaguar monster on his field.
(Salamangreat Jack Jaguar: Level 4 - Fire Cyberse - Attack: 1800. Defense: 1200.)
Fire appeared on Soulburner's hand as then he pointed at the air as fire appeared from it as then a circuit appeared from it, "I will now blaze my circuit one last time! The Summoning Conditions are at least 2 Fire monsters, so I set my Sunlight Wolf and Jack Jaguar in the Link Arrows!"
He yelled as the two monsters went into the Link Arrows, Wolf went into 2 of the bottom ones and Jaguar went into 1 of the up Link Arrow. "I Link Summon! Link-3, Salamangreat Heatleo!" he yelled as a monster appeared from the circuit.
It was his Ace monster that he loved summoning the most, as it was purple skinned, with gold wings and two heads on its hands, around the parts of his body was a golden skin.
(Salamangreat Heatleo: Link - Fire Cyberse - Attack: 2300. Link-3. Link Arrows: Top, Bottom-Left and Bottom-Right)
He then looked at Flame, as they had an unspoken conversation with each other. They were ready to finish this duel. Soulburner took a card from his hand. "I activate my Field Spell, Salamangreat Sanctuary!"
He said as nothing changed, but Varis knew that something was about to happen.
Flame pushed his arm forward, "Now with Salamangreat Sanctuary on our side of the field, we can use our Salamangreat Link monster as the entire Link Material!" he yelled as then a massive amount of fire appeared from Soulburner's hand as he threw it, creating a purple circuit.
"So I set my Heatleo in the Link Arrows!" he yelled at the top of his lungs as his monster went towards the circuit at the speed of light, making a small explosion as it collided with it.
He then began to chant, "I Reincarnation Link Summon! Rise again, from the valley of flames, Salamangreat Heatleo!" he yelled as then on his side of the field appeared Heatleo, however the flames of the monster were hotter, it looked far angrier than before and it looked more powerful than the last time.
(Salamangreat Heatleo: Link - Fire Cyberse - Attack: 2300. Link-3. Link Arrows: Top, Bottom-Left and Bottom-Right)
"I have decided not to activate my Heatleo's effect for the Reincarnation Summon!" he yelled shocking Frostgirl, Varis, Stormrider and even SOL Tech as they were looking at the duel.
"You might as well forfeit the duel, then. There is no point in fighting if you are not using your ace monster's effect." she said as Flame shook his head.
"On the contrary, my dear friend! You see, my partner has all the pieces he has for victory!" he said as he turned to his partner, "Am I right?" he asked as he nodded.
"You are Flame. As I activate my two Equip Spells! My Salamangreat Claw and Fang!" One of the mouths of Heatleo turned into a bigger head as it breathed even hotter fire, but the second one was turned into a sword.
Soulburner pushed his arm forward, "Here are their effects. My Salamangreat Claw allows my Reincarnated Heatleo to attack up to the amount of Link Arrows, not to mention the fact that my Fang allows my monster to gain 300 attack points for every Link Arrow." he said as his monster glew red for a tiny bit as it roared in power, shocking most of the duelists around to see the duel.
Salamangreat Heatleo: 2300 - 3200 attack points
"WHAT?!" yelled Frostgirl as Stormrider grinned.
"Alright, just a tiny bit more to the victory pole and he saved her!" yelled Stormrider.
"Battle! Salamangreat Heatleo attacks your Dewloren! Heat Soul!" he yelled at the top of his lungs as his Link monster went towards the Synchro monster and used its blade to cut the monster in half, making a small explosion.
Frostgirl covered herself from the dust, but Heatleo pointed its larger head towards her face, shocking her. Soulburner began explaining, "When my Heatleo destroys a monster, you lose life points equal to the destroyed monster's attack points, halved." he stated as her eyes widened as fire emerged from it.
Frostgirl: 4000 - 2800 - 1800 life points
Soulburner: 100 lp
Soulburner gripped his hand as he didn't want to do this. He gritted his teeth as he looked at the ground, he just couldn't do it. He can't continue this. He can't…hurt her. He hated hurting his loved ones.
It didn't care if its Kiku, Seigen, Flame or his grandparents, he…just couldn't bring himself in order to do it, even if it is for the better like at this current moment. He took a sharp breath, but he couldn't let it in. He just… he wanted to… he can't hurt her.
Flame and Stormrider looked at him, as he knew what he was thinking about, in sad eyes. If they were in his shoes, they would do the same thing, but they knew why, and why it would hurt him if he did it.
"Soulburner," he turned to the words of his partner.
"Flame, I know. I have game, and I have to continue this turn if we want to win." he said as Flame sighed.
"No, not that. I understand what you are going through, and I understand that you don't want to do this, but listen to me." he turned to him, "Look at her," he did, "Can't you see how hurt she is? Deep down, in that possessed body, she wants you to do this, I know that. Compared to her, her pain would be quick and easy to heal." he said as Soulburner sighed.
"I know that. I just…" he sighed once more. He looked at her for the final time as he felt that this was supposed to be, "Attack!" he yelled as he thrusted his arm forward as his Heatleo went forward, "Go for her Brionac, Heatleo! Heat Soul!" he yelled as Heatleo went towards the Synchro monster and sliced it in half.
Heatleo then appeared next to Frostgirl. "Fang's effect activates!" he yelled as from the mouth of the Heatleo flames appeared directly towards her as it connected towards her, meaning that Soulburner…
…won the game.
Frostgirl: 1800 - 900 - 0 life points
Soulburner: 100 lp
SOULBURNER: WINNER!
As soon as the fire connected with Frostgirl, she went flying through the air, screaming from the pain, "KIKU!" yelled Soulburner as he went towards her, trying to catch her and not fall to the data storm beneath them.
When he got closer and closer, he managed to catch her in both his arms. He sighed in relief as he looked at her, and noticed that she closed her eyes, which wasn't bad, he can manage with that, but the scariest thing about her is that she isn't waking up.
"Kiku? Kiku! Come on, wake up!" Soulburner tried waking her up as he began moving her up and down, trying to wake her up, but to his horror nothing is happening.
He turned to his partner, frantically, "Flame! Do something!" he yelled as his partner nodded.
"Right on!" He transformed into a form that they all got used to as it opened his mouth and sucked in any data from her that won't make her log out. He tried his hardest not to consume her data as he got some parts of the virus, but couldn't get the entire thing out from her. He nearly gagged at how terrible it tasted as he saw nothing happened.
"And, is she going to be okay?!"
Flame sighed, "I am sorry, but I don't know anything about this. All I know is that it is from the Hanoi." he said as his eyes widened.
"Hey, guys, what happened?" asked Stormrider as he watched his best friend trying to wake up his other best friend.
Soulburner turned to him with wide eyes, "She is not waking up!" he yelled as Stormrider's eyes widened as well.
"What?!" he went towards her and tried to shake her as well, but much to his own horror, she was not waking up. He turned to Soulburner, "We must log out to see if she is also unconscious there!"
"Right!" he yelled as they both logged out.
Meanwhile, Varis grinned at the situation. Sure he didn't like how he had to do this with harming someone to get to the Ignis, but he felt that it was appropriate to get to the Fire Ignis.
Stage 1 was complete. Stage 2 will come shortly.
When the two logged out of Link VRAINS, they immediately went to see if Kiku was alright, but to their horror, she was also unconscious. They rushed towards her and tried to wake her up, with Theodore tearing up slightly.
"Kiku, are you alright!?"
"Come on, wake up, please!"
"Kiku, please tell us that this is some messed up joke!"
"Kiku, please!"
"Kiku!" they said as her entire family heard the entire thing and went straight towards her room so they would find out horrible news.
Theodore promised himself that however did this, doesn't matter if it is this Varis guy or some no name will pay.
Authors Notes:
Done! Sorry that it took me so long, I had problems with my computer which I didn't have access to it for a week or so, and I had to finish 2 chapters of Yugioh GX: Rewrite! I hope you guys enjoyed it, and I know I did. I liked expanding Varis, Soulburner and his friends as much as I can as they are some of my favourite characters to write in this fic.
The duel was hard to write for me since this is my first time writing Ice Barriers, and despite that, I really liked planning on that. It was quite a shocker to use almost all of the Synchro monsters, sans Trishula, but I had to since I think they are some of the coolest monsters out there. Pun intended.
In canon, this was Blue Angel vs Playmaker, and I really enjoyed it since I love how cheery Blue Angel is through the entire thing and how Ai is such a jerk towards Playmaker the entire thing. I realized that during Gore's duel, he used Storm Access for Link Bumper not Encode Talker, and I realized my mistake and I do apologize.
I changed some properties of the virus Varis made to it so it could fit my writing style since I don't know much about the virus that he made, and I gave him a made up Skill called Rocket Blast, which I think is fair and would work with Rokkets. Next Chapter is a no duel chapter, but it will be set up for Varis vs Soulburner. Also, I use the Master Rule 5 because I think its better than Master Rule 4, with the added rule that was in DM, GX and 5ds that you can summon monsters in face up defense mode.
I made something completely new to this, and it will be the Angelmaker Counter where I count how many Angelmaker scenes there are, dub only at times. I counted at least 6, him saving Blue Angel, the conversation they had about him making friends, him spying on Skye, him looking at the back of Skye's head, their horrible conversation that resulted in her running away and their duel against each other.
Angelmaker Counter: 6.
Question: Should I give Frostgirl Nekroz of Trishula? She won't play Ritual monsters other than that one, but I feel like that monster would be cool to use, pun intended.
Before we get to the made up cards and Skills, I would like to thank ThunderMarisol for making the covers of my Bring The Heat, Soulburner and Yugioh GX: Rewrite on both my Wattpad and Fanfiction sites! It really means a lot to me that you would make them for such stories as mine, but I am really grateful to you.
Made Up Cards and Skills:
Ice Tune: Skill - You can activate this Skill once per Duel. Send 1 Trap or Spell from your hand to special summon an "Ice Barrier" Tuner monster from your deck.
Rocket Blast: Skill - You can activate this Skill once per Duel. Destroy 1 monster on your side of the field, then destroy 1 monster on your opponent's side of the field. If the monster you destroyed was a "Rokket" monster, you can add 1 "Rokket" monster from your deck.
Dark Sorcery Of The Ice Barrier: Trap - : If your opponent controls a Link monster, you can special summon 1 "Ice Barrier" Tuner from your deck in defense mode, but its effects are negated and it is banished at the end of the turn. You can banish this card from your graveyard, except the turn it was sent to the graveyard: Send 1 "Ice Barrier" monster on your field to the graveyard, and special summon "Ice Barrier" monsters from your deck whose levels are that equal or less than the tributed monster. While this card is in your graveyard, your opponent can not activate their Skill (Speed Duel Effect only).
