"Darling! I hate waking alone!" Adam wrapped his arms around her as he found her in the kitchen baking once again. "Sorry baby! I just want everything to be perfect today. Our friends are coming over today and I want this day to be perfect." Kim sighed as she relaxed in his embrace. "Kim it might not be perfect but that's fine. No one expects perfection. They just want to have fun together. Please try to relax a little bit, for me." Adam knew that would work. He felt her melting into his embrace. "I will try but I have to finish desserts. They are half started. So once they are in the oven I will relax, I promise." Kim knew he was right but she hated to admit it. "Perfect! I'm gonna empty the dishwasher and start the coffee and then when you are done I will reload the dishwasher so you can shower and relax some." Adam was insistent on helping her so she could relax. He wanted her to have fun not just worry all day.
They worked in perfect harmony making sure they cleaned up and made progress as well. As soon as Kim finished getting the dessert in the oven she turned her attention to a much needed shower. Adam decided to make breakfast for the family, his family. It had really hit home yesterday that this was indeed his family now. The holidays that were once chaotic being pulling in every direction were now calm and peaceful. Everyone coming to them because they had children. Kim refused to drag the kids all over town to see family members. She lived that as a child and hated it. She never got to enjoy the gifts that you received because you have to leave them right away. Adam was thankful for her stance on the holidays and grateful the kids would have better than they had.
Kim finished her shower, got dressed and headed down the stairs to find Adam making breakfast. "Thank you baby! I appreciate you letting me relax in the shower. And for making breakfast." Kim kissed him softly before grabbing coffee for herself. "Of course darling! You do so much for everyone. It's the least I can do." Adam watched her making coffee and settling at the breakfast bar. "What are you making?" Kim asked. "Hash brown casserole, fruit, turkey bacon and waffles once the kids wake up." Adam explained. "The kids will love it. And so do I." Kim smiled taking a sip of her coffee. "Oh I know! You love your carbs. That's why we have to workout so much." Adam wink giving her his best boyish smile. "Get your mind out if the gutter!" Kim laughed watching him wiggle his eye brows at her. "You're a mess!" Kim replied as she turned to see Allie walking towards them.
"Hey baby girl! Did you have a good sleep?" Kim asked her as she moved to hug her daughter. "Yes mommy! I'm hungry." Allie snuggled in to her mothers arms. "Well Daddy Adam is making breakfast. How about we get you something drink while he makes a waffle for you." Kim suggested moving in to the kitchen still holding her daughter. Allie nodded. Adam turned to kiss their daughter on the cheek knowing she was still too sleepy to leave her mother just yet. "Morning baby! When your ready I want me hug okay?" Adam whispered in her eyes. Allie giggled by nodded yes. "That's my girl!" Adam tickled her and moved back to cooking. Kim moved their daughter over to the table setting her up with her breakfast. She cut it up so it was easier for Allie to eat.
Kim heard Riley moving upstairs so Adam headed up to get him up for the day. "Hey bud! You look happy this morning." Adam smiled seeing his son up and smiling. "Yes! Hungry daddy!" Riley giggled as he spoke. "Okay bud. Let's get you changed first." Adam changed Riley's diaper and they headed downstairs. He was very independent about certain things and going downstairs was one of them. Adam taught him to sit on his butt to slide down the steps one at a time. It was safest. As they reached the bottom stair Adam picked him up and put him in the booster seat. "Morning Riley! How's our happy buddy this morning?" Kim asked as she bent down to kiss his head. "Morning Kimmie! I hungry!" Riley pointed to the kitchen. "Oh I know bud. Daddy's making you a waffle right now." Kim tickled a bit before heading to grab him a drink.
"Well both kids are in good moods so it's gonna be a great day!" Kim smiled knowing that would help keep her relaxed for the day ahead. "Yeah I think he's getting used to living here full time. He seems to be settling in more. Now I just need to get him to use the potty. He's getting to old for this." Adam sighed knowing he was raising a very stubborn child. "Little tip. Try putting him on the toilet, ready to use it and put his feet in warm water. It works sometimes." Kim suggested. "Yeah that makes sense. Will have to try that later. Let's eat and get a move on the day." Adam kissed her head as he moved the food to the table. They all finished eating shortly after. Adam took both kids upstairs to get them bathed and dressed for the day before showering himself. Once they were all ready for the day they all sat down to watch a movie while they waited for friends to show up.
The movie was half way done when Riley started squirming around. "Bud do you need to potty?" Adam asked hoping they could move forward with potty training. "Yes." Riley replied. "Okay how about we try the potty before you go in your diaper Okay?" Adam didn't wait for a reply just picked him up and took him to the bathroom. Kim had paused the movie while they were gone. Allie decided to run up and potty as well so they didn't have to pause it later. "Come on Bud. You know you have to go, just use the potty buddy. It's so much better. I promise." Adam sat on the floor next to him trying to get him to go. He even ran the water in the sink trying to get this to happen. "Daddy potty no!" Riley yelled. "Yes buddy. We need to potty on the toilet now. Stop holding it." Adam sternly told him. This needed to happen. It took 10 more minutes before he couldn't hold it out longer and pee in the toilet. Adam was thankful and cleaned him up and helped him wash his hands before they returned to the living room.
"I take it he went?" Kim asked Adam while the kids watched the movie again. "Yeah he couldn't hold out any longer and peed. Not sure it will change anything but at least he went." Adam shrugged. "It takes time just keep up hard work. I promise it will pay off. Allie went up to pee while you guys were working on it because she knew she would need to soon. And didn't want to pause the movie again. Once they realize the ease of going on the toilet they do it more often." Kim explained trying to keep up his hopes. "I'm trying but he's stubborn." Adam sighed. "Oh yeah I wonder where he got that?" Kim stated sarcastically. "Funny!" Adam just laughed knowing Riley got it from him most likely. "Also praise him for doing a good job." Kim reminded him. "Gotcha. Well it's almost time for our friends to get here. I'm gonna start the turkey tenderloins." Adam kissed her before moving again. He was frustrated by the lack of progress in toilet training. But he knew it would take time. Everyone told him that.
As the meat started to cook the kids continued to watch their movie and Kim made the frosting for the cake. The first group to arrive was the Halstead. "Hey guys! Come on in. Hey Drew!" Kim bent down to hug him. "Hey thanks for having us over. We appreciate it." Erin said as they entered the home. "Of course we are happy to have you guys over. Drew the kids are watching a movie in the living room if you want to join them." Kim pointed towards the kids and Drew took off. "Hey guys! Can I get you a drink?" Adam asked as he welcomed his friends. "Hey Adam! A drink sounds good. Thanks." Adam got the drinks while more people showed up with more foods. The guys took the kids outside to play while Erin and Kim worked to organize the food and get the plates and silverware set up. Kim took the meat out and let it rest as they got drinks for everyone and get the boys and kids in to wash up before dinner.
"Just want to thank you all for coming to celebrate the holiday with us. I also want to thank you all for welcoming Adam and Riley into our family group. I know this has been a crazy year but the love and support from all of you has gotten us all through it. So dig in, enjoy!" Kim spoke before allowing the group to dig in. "We just want to say we love you all! And we are thankful that you guys found your way back to each other. What you two have is magical and the recovery Kim has made since you came back into her life has been remarkable." Jay spoke for the team since he has been there since the beginning. Kim hugged Jay fit his kind words and Adam shared a bro hug with Jay. The group filled their plates before sitting down together to eat. Their shared stories from their days before they were a team. Some funny, some crazy. But it kept everyone laughing.
"Have you guys looked into buying something larger?" Antonio asked the couple. "Um we have. But we wanted to make sure the kids were truly comfortable with the living situation before moving to a new house." Adam explained. "We want to stay in a good school district. Hopefully this district so Allie can keep her friends. And Riley will enjoy it when he goes next year." Kim explained as Adam chocked. "Yes Adam he needs to go to school next year. It's time for him to get some schooling and to socialize with other kids. He's a great kid and he will do amazing." Kim tried to calm him knowing he was upset over it. "Adam it's nothing against your folks but he needs to learn things before he starts pre K. It's tough to let them grow up. Trust us, we know." Erin started knowing he was gonna need lots of support.
"Okay it's just hard that he's growing up. I want him to stay small forever." Adam huffed knowing that wasn't reality. "Well they grow up and you can just get Kim to pop out another one." Kevin stated laughing at Kim's face. "Yeah we have a bit before that happens. At least another year. Allies good, Riley's still adjusting and is as stubborn as Adam and won't potty train. That for sure needs to happen before we can even think about another one." Kim was very matter of fact about it. "Agreed. 100%!" Adam agreed whole heartedly. "I think we need to get Kevin a girlfriend and Antonio laid and then we can worry about your kid situation." Jay joked trying to bring back the laughter. "Gee thanks dawg!" Kevin laughed trying to look offended. "You know that girl you worked with a few weeks ago would be perfect for him, Kim." Erin started. "Oh um yeah I think they would like each other but I don't know if I want my best friend dating her. Her partner and her talked trash about me in the locker room. She apologized but it's still not great. Not to mention her partner is dating Roman, or was." Kim sighed.
"Oh that was her! Oh never Mind! We will find someone better for him." Erin agreed to think of someone else. "I think Dawson here should make a move on Brett. The way they look at each other is pretty intense." Kim giggled as they all looked to Antonio looking for a response. "Maybe we have." Antonio responded as he ate not looking at them. "Holy crap really? Details!" Kim demanded. "It's new. I'm not ready to talk about it but you are right. It's intense. But good." Dawson shrugged. "Well we are happy for you man. It's good." Kevin added trying to keep it positive and veer from gossip. As they finished eating dinner the kids had started to play again while the boys cleaned up the plates.
The kids pulled out the blocks to play with as the adults talked and drank. It was loud, crazy ruckus. But they all had a great time. Once the kids all fell asleep they were taken upstairs and the adults played Cards Against Humanity for several hours. It was sick, disgusting but absolutely hilarious. The laughter continued into the wee hours of the morning. It truly had been a great time for all of them. When everyone left the couple checked on the kids before crashing in bed. Neither took the time to get sleep wear on. Kim crashed in a shirt and thong and Adam just boxers.
Neither woke again till the next morning wrapped in each other's arms. This was truly how Adam wanted to wake up each morning. He felt complete. He felt Kim stretching a bit. "Morning darling!" Adam whispered tightening his hold on her. "Morning baby! Can we spend the whole day in bed?" Kim asked knowing the answer already. "Of course. When the kids wake we bring them in here and we have family movie day. I'm good with that. We both need a break after the last two days. But while they sleep let's just enjoy each other's company." Adam replied rolling her over so he could kiss her. Kim snuggled up allowing her head to rest under his chin. "This is so comfortable. I never want to leave your arms. I feel so safe here. I want you to know how thankful I am for you. I feel like you literally saved my life. You gave me my life back. I have hope for a bright future now." Kim whispered as she snuggled closer. "Hey you gave me a bright future too. Our son is so much happier now that he has a mom. Life with you has been better than I could have ever imagined. I'm so thankful that we are here again." Adam pulled her back a bit to bend down to kiss her. It was Slow, loving, intense and full of passion.
The kiss was interrupted by Kim's phone ringing. She knew it wasn't a case since she was a patrol officer but she felt compelled to answer it. "Hey? What's going on?" She was confused as to why Eric was calling so early. "Well I know it's been a crazy few days so I thought I would take Allie for the day. What do you think?" Eric asked hoping she would be fine with it. "Um yeah that's fine I'm sure she would love that." Kim shrugged know Allie would be thrilled to spend more time with you father. "Great I was thinking of taking her to the Aquarium and then the indoor bounce house place she likes. And lunch in between." Eric offered hoping it was idea. "She will love that. I'm sure she will be excited as soon as we tell her." Kim knew how excited she would be with the day out. "Great I will see you guys soon then. Thanks Kim." Eric hung up shortly after that.
"I guess it's just three of us now. Allie is spending the day with Eric. Or at least most of it. So I'm sure she will be thrilled." Kim smiled as she looked up at Adam. "She will be thrilled! I will miss her though." Adam admitted. "I know me too. But we still have Riley." Kim smiled. "I know and I'm happy about that. I've grown used to the four of us day in and day out." Adam knew that wasn't a surprise to anyone. "Yeah me too. How about we shower together and then get breakfast ready for the kids before Eric arrives." Kim suggested as she got up from their bed. "Oh hell ya!" Adam jumped up and carried her to the bathroom. Couples showers, intimate or not didn't happen often with two kids so this was a definite bonus.
The couple took a nice long shower together taking time to love all over each other's bodies. It was intense, beautiful and impossibly intimate. As they exited the shower the couple took time drying each other before getting dressed to start the day. In the kitchen Adam made the coffee while Kim took her medicine. "Have you ever tried getting off your meds before?" Adam asked shyly. "Um no. I went off my allergy meds when I got my deviated septum fixed but I had to start taking them again. The pollen, dust and mold in the homes we enter causes too many issues. As for my SSRI, no. It actually scares the hell out of me to even think about it. I've been on it for almost 13 years. And it does help me deal with the things we see everyday. So no." Kim explained a little embarrassed. "I completely understand. I was just curious. It's important for us to know these things." He watched Kim nod. "And next month your getting the implant removed still right?" Adam asked almost hopeful. "Yeah. I am taking the full day off just in case. It's not the most pleasant experience and cramping it very common afterwards." Kim explained sitting with her coffee. "I can go with you if you want. Hold her hand, provide comfort. I doubt it's anyone's favorite doctor visit." Adam offered. "Thanks I would appreciate that. I truly hate going there. It's a,ways horrible." Kim grimaced thinking about it.
Adam nodded understanding it's uncomfortable and unpleasant. "Okay let's make a small breakfast. We don't need anything big after two days of binging on food." Adam was good at changing topics when he sensed she was over loaded. "Sounds good baby!" Kim was thankful for the topic change. They exchanged small talk while they made breakfast together. They heard the front door open as Eric arrived. "Hey! Allie is still asleep." Kim stated as he came in. "That's cool. Hopefully she's gets up soon." Eric was surprised Allie was still asleep. It was completely normal. "Its been a busy couple of days. We all need the extra sleep. She tried to stay up last night but she crashed out around 9. Her, Riley and Drew partied hard last night." Kim chuckled thinking about the crazy kids last night. "Sounds like a fun night. What's your plans for today?" Eric asked. "Um we had planned a family movie day but now I don't know." Kim shrugged unsure if the day ahead.
"Either way it will be fun and relaxing, hopefully on the relaxing part." Adam shook his head knowing that Riley was crazy full of energy. "Well maybe we can take Riley to the park to run around for awhile. Then maybe he will crash hard tonight." Kim suggested. Adam really didn't say much he just continued to make breakfast for his family. They waited for Allie to get up for the day before trying to wake Riley. Allie was so excited to spend the day with her father but was told she had to eat breakfast and bathe first before they were allowed to leave. On the other hand Riley was upset. Crying when he found out Allie was going to the aquarium without them. He didn't really understand. "Riley. Buddy what's going on? Allie does stuff with her dad alone all the time." Adam tried to understand. "No I go! No fair!" Riley yelled out in tears. Adam scooped him up trying to soothe his tears.
Eric returned to the room to hear what was going on. "Hey I couldn't help but over hear. Why don't I take both kids with me? Give you two a break." Eric spoke softly as he entered the room. "You don't have to do that. He will be fine. It's just super early for him. He doesn't like mornings and he's getting very used to Allie being around all the time. It's growing pains of joining two families." Adam explained still holding his son. "I get it. I really do. But it's not a problem at all. They want to be together so let's keep them together. I promise to take good care of him. Let me do this for you both." Eric pleaded knowing the kids would be happier and the couple needed time to relax. "As long as Kim's good with it then I'm fine with it. She considers him her son so I want her to be okay with it too." Adam explained. "I'm sure she will be fine with it. She will want the alone time." Eric smiled knowingly.
As Kim entered the room she saw the boys all getting along. "Hey Darling. So Eric offered to take Ry for the day. So as long as you are okay with that we have a kid free day." Adam watched Kim's face turn to surprise and even excitement. "Really? You want to watch both kids? Are you sure? They can be a lot to handle." Kim was shocked to say the least. "Of course. You guys need a break. You guys deal with the worst cases and the kids everyday. Plus you guys did host for two days. So let me do this for you both." Eric pleaded their case. He knew how exhausted they were. "Okay well then let's get the kids ready to go." Kim was so shocked. "Great! Ry you hear that? Your gonna go out with Allie and Eric today. Isn't that great?" Adam spoke to Riley who was snuggled into his arms. Riley looked up with tears in his eyes. "Really? Thank you!" Riley jumped up to hug them all. "You are welcome little man!" Eric told him.
After the kids were dressed and had eaten they left for a fun filled day. Eric took Kim's car since it had both car seats in it. "So what are we gonna do today now that we are alone?" Adam asked Kim as they were finally alone. "Well how about we go old school? It's warm outside and we won't have many more warm days this year. So let's go to our park with a picnic and relax at our tree?" Kim looked up with hope in her eyes. "Sounds perfect! Let's get a lunch together and head out." Adam kissed her forehead before heading into the kitchen to make a picnic basket. The couple passed sweet glances and giggles as they headed to their favorite park. This park had meant so much to them during their relationship as kids. And they choose this as a place to rebuild their relationship when they found their way back to each other.
"I'm glad we are back here. Some of best moments were here. I used to come here after you left hoping to see you." Adam admitted as they snuggled against their favorite tree. "To be honest, so did I. But it wasn't our time. It is now and I'm not letting go this time." Kim whispered but she knew he heard her as he tightened his hold around her. "I agree. I'm never letting you go again." Adam whispered in response. They laid together for awhile before sitting up to eat lunch. As they ate they fed each other pieces of fruit. Just enjoying the warm weather and alone time. After eating they headed to the playground where they took turns swinging and pushing each other. Lots of laughter exchanged during the afternoon.
"We should head home. It's getting cooler." Kim suggested with a wink of her eye. "Oh yeah. It's freezing! Gotta get us warmed up." Adam stated eagerly. They headed out of the park hand in hand giggling like school children. The car ride was full of sexual tension and anticipation. Both stealing glances of each other as they rode along. "A feel like we are kids heading home to have our first time." Adam chuckled. "Yeah that sounds about right." Kim laughed. "Luckily it isn't! No one wants to repeat that awfulness!" Adam laughed and Kim laughed loudly in agreement. Once Adam parked they both ran into the house giggling madly. As soon as they entered their room the couple slowed their movements.
Kim started to undress Adam caressing his body as she removed his clothes. Adam tried to stay still to allow her some control but he was having a hard time. He was itching to touch her skin, to hold her. Once Adam was naked he took his time undressing Kim. Placing kissing on her body as he went. He dropped to his knees to remove her shoes first before removing her jeans and underwear. He looked up from his spot on the floor to see the love and passion in her eyes. The relaxed nature of her body even in the most vulnerable condition was beautiful to him. Adam rose to stand before her, taking her into his arms. He slowly walked them back till her knees bumped into the bed. Kim moved on to the bed crawling to the head of the bed. Adam followed closely behind her.
As soon as Kim was comfortable they shared a slow, languid kiss that seemed to last for hours. Kim fingers gliding up and down his back as the kiss continued. Adam broke the kiss looking for more skin. Slowly kissing down her neck. Kim wrapped her leg around his opening her up wider. That was all he needed to know she was ready. He settled himself between her legs as he supported himself just before entering her body. The two moaning at the feeling of being connected once again. It hadn't been a long time since they had been intimate but it was the first in a long time that the house was empty.
Adams movements were slow, tender, intense. The look of pure bliss on Kim's face melted his heart further. Neither knew how long they had been connected as they got closer to their climax. Adam felt Kim's hips buck letting her know that she was close. He had been watching her face as he made love to her. Wanting to see the expressions on her face and the pleasure rushed through her body. Kim wrapped her legs around his waist pulling him closer. The intensity intensified instantly. Adam groaned feeling her ankles lock around his back. He didn't pick up speed up thrusted harder. "I want to see your face as you finish Kim. Let it go darling!" Adam moaned feeling her body starting to tremble around him. "That's It Kim. Let it go!" Adam urges her on. Kim's eyes were clenched shut, her fingers digging into his arms, her back arched as she shattered around him. Moaning loudly as she came. Adam watched her face the whole time.
When she finished trembling he allowed himself to orgasm. He knew she was still overly sensitive so he massaged her clit so they could orgasm together. As she moaned out again in pure pleasure Adam threw his head back in pure bliss growling loudly. Adam collapsed on top of Kim. Their skin hot, sweaty. Their hearts racing, breathing heavy. Both smiling wide placing kisses on the other. "We need alone time more often. I means is always amazing but not having to rush or worry about kids waking up made it even better." Kim whispered as she tried to calm her breathing. "Oh I agree. Today's been record breaking! Not gonna lie though I do miss the kids." Adam chuckled as Kim smacked him. "I can't believe you are thinking about the kids while still inside me! You're crazy!" Kim laughed at him.
They spent the next several hours in bed making love to each other. The day had been so different. Nothing was rushed, it was just sweet and lovely taking their time to enjoy each other. They did make sure to leave enough time to shower before the kids arrived home. They also agreed to make this a monthly thing, one day a month with no kids to just enjoy themselves how ever they saw fit. And this was by far the best use of their time if you asked them. They couldn't wait for the next day off together. They also wanted to spend the next month making memories with their kids. Especially since it was the first Christmas together as a family. Kim planned to document the entire thing so they the memories to look back on as the kids got older. She definitely couldn't wait for the future.
