TDI. Chapter 4: The Awake-a-thon

(Dock of Shame)

Chris is shown standing next to the sign of the camp Wawanakwa "Last time on Total Drama Island ..." The camera shows the campers at the edge of the cliff. "Our campers received their first challenge, jumping off a cliff into shark-infested waters."

The camera switches to show each of the campers taking the leap. "Several of them had the courage to jump..." Courtney, DJ, and Beth are shown wearing chicken hats. "But some will have to do better to avoid elimination."

The camera returns to Chris. "Speaking of eliminations, this time we will find out who will be the first camper to go home. If you want to find out who it is going to be, stay tuned for ... TOTAL... DRAMA... ISLAND!"

(Opening, if you are curious, see the chapter "Not so Happy Campers - Part 1")

(Cabins)

A squirrel can be seen, leaving its tree to start the day, somehow it is wearing a proportionally sized robe and coffee cup. After yawning, it curiously sees Eva and Tyler learning to meditate with Naruto in between the two cabins.

"You know, it's kinda weird that you do this in your daily routine dude" Tyler remarks. Not that he's against it, but he's used to jogging or stretching every time he trains.

"I don't blame you. At first, I didn't see the fun in it either, and I even fell asleep, but after doing it so many times, I got used to it, and then I saw the benefits" Naruto recalls how his godfather always woke him up every time he fell asleep doing this. He wondered how that pervert was doing. The last time he spoke to him in a video call, he mentioned that he was training his cousin Nagato and his two friends, Yahiko and Konan, for the upcoming regional martial arts tournament.

The two Bass athletes found Naruto training early the morning the next day after the hot tub challenge. Tyler was curious about how Naruto trains knowing that the guy comes from Japan, so he decided to get close and ask. Although the blond was somewhat hesitant because Eva and Tyler are from the other team, he decided to teach them meditation, something basic for relaxing the mind. Unknowingly, he had just greatly helped Eva, who only had to practice it regularly to have better control of her anger. It also helped that the Japanese guy had been guiding them in the three days they had been getting to know each other.

But all that peaceful atmosphere went down the drain when Chris used a horn amplified by the speakers to wake up the campers who were still sleeping.

(Screaming Gophers Cabin)

"Aaaahhhhh!" Cody fell off his bunk bed, which he shared with Trent. It didn't help that the geek was on top.

Meanwhile, the musician suddenly sat up, only to hit his head on the top bed of his bunk.

"Holy pancakes!" Owen wakes up abruptly, while Noah tries to cover his head with his pillow to keep sleeping.

"My mojo can't handle this" Harold barely manages to wake up very sleepy.

In the girls' room, things aren't much different, as Lindsay and Beth wake up screaming.

Gwen covers her ears. "What the hell?!"

Heather just keeps her ears covered to avoid getting deaf, while Leshawna, like Trent, hits her head on the top bunk.

"What does that host think I am, a farmer? It's like 6 in the morning". It's been three days on this show, and she can already tell she's going to hate Chris.

(Killer Bass Cabin)

After hearing the not so friendly alarm, they had no choice but to get up, like the other team. The Bass were not happy either.

"Couldn't he have a friendlier way to wake us up?" Courtney massages her ears from the sound.

"I guess we better get used to it" Bridgette plans to use earplugs to wake up in a less abrupt manner.

"This reminds me of the time someone set off the school's fire alarm," Katie mentions sleepily.

"Yeah, we were all so scared, but it turned out to be an accident in the end" Sadie agrees. She really thought there was a fire at school.

But all of them stopped complaining when they watched Izzy stretching and scratching her ear like a dog. The four girls turn to look at each other with the same silent question, 'What kind of program did we just get ourselves into?'

The dudes had their own situation.

"Dude, first the food, and now this," Duncan really wanted to have a 'friendly' chat with Chris about the current conditions of the camp, but he didn't want to go back to juvie, at least not yet.

"Don't worry dude, it can't be that bad" DJ tries to reassure the punk, but a piece of the roof falls on Geoff's head, sending him to the floor.

"Ugh," that's how the party guy starts the day.

"I hope we can fix that before it starts raining" Justin mentions, looking at the hole on his side of the cabin.

(Confession)

"Alright..." Geoff rubs the bump on his head before putting on his cowboy hat. "The camp might not be completely cool, but I think I can make some buddies to throw a party from time to time. We just need to ask Chris for some sodas and ..." but he opens his eyes, remembering the first impression the host gave them. "Oh, man, this sucks"

(Cabins)

With all the campers already dressed, they watched as Chris arrived in a mini Jeep.

"Good morning, campers. I hope you slept well" the host chuckles as he sees some campers giving him annoyed looks.

"Hey, Chris, those shorts look good on you," Heather falsely compliments to get on his good side.

"Thanks, Heather," but Chris sees through her game right away, but just takes the compliment. "Alright, your challenge begins in a minute."

"Hey, Chris, what about breakfast?" Owen's stomach growls confirming his hunger.

"Oh, you'll get your breakfast ..." Chris checks his watch for a moment. "after your twenty kilometer run around the lake on the way to the Main Hall."

"Is this for real?" Harold swallows a bit nervously.

"Well, at least there is no death risk in this challenge, right, Courtney, Justin?" Eva remarks making the polite girl and the model gulp nervously.

(Confession)

"I can't risk my beauty, just look at me," Justin mentions while looking at himself in the mirror.

*Static*

"Since the last challenge, Eva has been somewhat against us for not cooperating enough" Courtney mentions.

"I've apologized several times, but it seems like it isn't enough, although I wonder why she's not mad at DJ?" she couldn't help but wonder about that last bit.

*Static*

"When I asked DJ, he admitted he has a genuine fear of heights, and he compensated for it by being a great help with bringing the crates and building what he could for the hot tub" Eva crosses her arms as she mentions this, she overheard Courtney when she was inside.

"Courtney hasn't explained why she didn't jump and repeated over and over that we needed her..." Eva takes a breath. "I can forgive her a bit for helping with the hot tub, but the pretty boy didn't want to ruin his figure, so he better put his ass to work, or I'll kick him out of the program myself."

(Cabins)

"Alright, everyone, take your positions" upon hearing Chris, each camper gets ready to run. Tyler stands out as he gets into the starting position for a sprint.

"On your marks, get set, go!" All the campers dashed off upon hearing the signal, with Tyler following them at a trot, a smart move if he wants to conserve energy.

(Forest - 1 hour later)

The difference between the campers is quite noticeable. The current leaders are Naruto, Eva, and Tyler respectively. However, the rapid sprinting at the beginning has taken its toll on the first two allowing the clumsy jock to gradually catch up.

Regarding the other campers, most of them are now jogging to maintain a somewhat slower but steady pace. Others have chosen to walk to conserve energy, while a few are crawling or on the verge of fainting.

"Do you know … how much … farther?" Harold asks Gwen, who is walking to regain her energy, barely noticing one of his teammates.

"Don't get near me" with that the goth girl leaves her teammate to his fate.

"I think there's still a long way to go man" an approaching Cody replies causing concern for the nerd who is trying to control his breathing after so much running. It's clear he's not used to this kind of physical activity.

On the other hand, Heather is walking without even bothering to run.

(Confession)

"I don't run, especially not in high heel wedgies" the Queen Bee clarifies. "Just imagine what that would do to my feet."

(Forest)

Heather continues walking for a while and then notices Owen drinking water from a puddle while Leshawna leans against a tree trunk to catch her breath.

"I … can't … stop … need … conditioning," Owen says, taking a sip from the puddle with each word he speaks.

"It's called obesity. You should look into it" Heather informs her teammate.

"And what's your excuse?" Leshawna takes a moment to continue catching her breath. "You scrawny ... annoying ... too tired to insult."

"Hurry up people. Those who don't make it to the main hall on time won't eat," Chris passes by them in his mini Jeep broadcasting his message through a megaphone, this annoys many who are hungry.

"I hate him so much" grumbles Heather who is stepping over Owen and quickens her walking pace.

(Mess Hall)

After a few more hours, most of the campers were seated at their respective tables. Katie and Sadie arrived thirty minutes ago, being the last of their team to the joy of the Bass, while the Gophers were still waiting for three more teammates.

It wasn't until ten minutes later that heavy footsteps were heard, and the door opened, revealing Owen carrying an unconscious Noah over his shoulder.

"Clear the table, we're losing him!" the rest of his team obeys as Owen starts to perform CPR.

"Hey, is he going to be okay?" Trent couldn't help but ask concerned. They wouldn't let them die on this island, right?

"He needs mouth-to-mouth" but before Owen could get close, Noah miraculously wakes up and pushes Owen away.

"I'm fine, I'm fine, I don't need that!" There's no way in hell that his first kiss would be like that, let alone let his mouth be near Owen's, especially not on national television, thank you very much.

Five minutes after that, Harold would arrive, barely standing and seemingly on the verge of collapse.

"Well done, Harold. You've made us lose the challenge," Heather didn't waste time criticizing him. She already knows who she's eliminating first.

"Wait, does that mean we won?" Courtney asks hopefully, only for her and the rest of the Bass to celebrate.

"Whoa, whoa, campers, calm down, that wasn't the challenge" Chris maintains his smile as he sees the campers looking at him confused.

"What?" This is one of the few times when Lindsay isn't the only one confused.

"Who's hungry?" sliding the tarp behind him, Chris reveals a 5-star breakfast buffet.

(Confessional)

"After three days of eating black mud, I almost cried when I saw that buffet," Gwen couldn't help but admit.

*Static*

"It was so beautiful, there was turkey, sausages... bacon... wait a minute," Owen couldn't help but cry a little.

*Static*

"Something's fishy. From what I've known of Chris so far, he wouldn't give us a buffet like that if it wasn't for something," Naruto ponders, but his belly growls demanding food.

(Main Hall)

All the campers were either resting on the floor or in their seats, everyone just went crazy on the food like there was no tomorrow. It wasn't their fault, considering their menu ever since they arrived on the island and the twenty kilometer race.

"Alright, campers, it's time for the second part of your challenge" Chris announces through his megaphone, stepping out from behind the table that once held the devoured buffet.

"I thought eating was the second part of the challenge" Owen comments with his face full of beans.

"What else do you want from us?" Gwen was ready to head back to her cabin and sleep for a bit.

"The weird goth girl is right, haven't we had enough?" Heather questions, giving Chris a thoughtful look.

"Let me see … NO!" he yells into their faces with the megaphone before lowering it and mentioning the next part of the challenge.

"It's time for the Awake-a-thon," many campers look at him with confused expressions.

"The what-a-thon?" Owen didn't hear well.

"Don't worry, it's easy. All you have to do is stay awake as long as possible. The last one standing wins the victory for their team" the campers gradually realize his plan.

"So you mean... the twenty kilometer race and the buffet were parts of your devious plan to make it harder for us to stay awake?" Gwen couldn't help but ask.

"Exactly Gwen" the host confirms her suspicions.

"Damn, he's good" no one denied the goth girl's amazement.

"Alright, I want everyone at the bonfire pit right now, move it campers, move it" Chris practically kicks them out of the main hall.

"How long do you think it'll take for the first one to fall asleep?" Trent asks Gwen, who was standing next to him.

"I'd say about four hours ..." Gwen responds, then looks at Owen, who isn't as active as one would hope. "Maybe less."

(Bonfire pit - 12 hours of the Awake-a-thon)

It was already night, and all the campers could be seen doing their best to stay awake. Some are distracted, others talk to get to know each other better, and others try to stay active.

"It's been 12 hours since we started, and no one has fallen asleep" Chris reports to the audience at home, sounding somewhat amazed.

"Woo-hoo! Oh, yeah, baby, I can do this all day" Owen exclaims cheerfully, waving his arms at full speed. However, that confidence didn't last long as he fell asleep three seconds after making that statement, leaving the score at 11-10 in favor of the Bass.

(Confessional)

"The Awake-a-thon is possibly the most brutal thing I've ever done in my life," Gwen clarifies, with bags under her eyes.

(Bonfire pit - 14 hours into the Awake-a-thon)

"This is the most boring thing I've ever done in my life," the goth girl murmurs as she looks around.

"Cheer up girl, at least we can talk to distract ourselves" but out of nowhere, Gwen is surprised by Leshawna and Trent who are approaching to talk to her.

"She's right, do you want to chat for a while?" having people close to her age is the only thing Chris has fulfilled, to Trent's relief.

"I have nothing to lose" the goth girl agrees, somewhat surprised that they approached her. Normally, people ignored her back home.

"Hey, guys, can I join you?" Naruto approaches them with a smile, and Trent and Leshawna accept without hesitation. However, Gwen averts her gaze slightly embarrassed, still remembering what happened on the first day, and is thankful that no one else noticed.

The four started to chat for a while, getting to know each other better, and possibly forming a good friendship on this island, all of this happening under Heather's watchful eye, who didn't seem very happy with what she saw.

(Confession)

"Those four can't stick together ..." Heather crosses her arms, dark circles clearly noticeable in her eyes due to her lack of sleep. "In the long run, they'll create an indirect alliance, and that is a menace"

The Queen Bee now takes on a thoughtful look as she decides what to do. "I need to form an alliance to counter them, but the group can't be too big, at least not yet. Maybe two more people would be enough, and those people should be capable of following everything I say. But who would be stupid or desperate enough to follow my orders?" she asks herself.

(Bonfire pit - 15 hours into the Awake-a-thon)

"Hey, what are you doing?" Beth couldn't help but be curious when she noticed Lindsay doing a handstand.

"I'm getting the blood flowing to my head to stay awake" the bombshell responds, looking at Beth from upside down.

"Can I try it?" Beth wanted to see if the method worked.

"Sure" Lindsay seems very friendly, but at the same time, very naive.

'Perfect' it seems Heather found her future allies/servants.

"Lindsay, Beth, can I talk to you in private for a moment?" Heather asks friendly and in a low voice so that only they can hear her.

The two girls in question just look at each other but agree, with Lindsay now standing normally to follow the queen bee to a somewhat secluded spot, still within view so that the others don't suspect anything.

"Alright, I would like to make you a proposal, so stay calm," Heather raises her voice a bit more so that it seems like the three are having a normal conversation. "I plan to reach the final three by teaming up with two more people, and I've decided that you will be those people." This undoubtedly surprised the other two.

"Is this for real?" Beth couldn't believe it, she was being offered the opportunity to make it to the final three. She just hoped not to mess it up by revealing this alliance, now understanding why Heather was so secretive.

"Only if you're willing to obey what I say, are you aboard?" with that question, Lindsay squealed excitedly, but this got the attention of those nearby, so Heather had to quickly improvise and also squealed with Beth following her lead to not to raise suspicion. The other campers thought those three were talking about fashion or something like that, so they let them be.

With Lindsay calm, Heather had to plan how to keep this girl from saying anything about the alliance. "I suppose I'll take that as a yes" to which the blonde and Beth both nod in agreement, much to the satisfaction of the queen bee.

"Speaking of alliances, do you know who I think would be a great addition?" Lindsay asks as she watches Tyler talking to Eva about the meditation Naruto taught them, but Heather intervenes, getting in the bombshell's sight.

"I'm sorry, but no" they would be constantly competing against each other, and it's possible that someone from the other team might discover them. It's a risk that Heather isn't willing to take until she gains more power.

"Why not?" Heather only gives Lindsay a deadpan look. Well, she can't take back about including her in the alliance now.

"Because he's on the other team. That's a risk for the alliance, so don't you dare get close to him." Heather will have to talk to Beth in private to take turns in keeping an eye on Lindsay.

Lindsay just nods her head to Heather's satisfaction, then the queen bee stands up to relax elsewhere. Once Heather is out of sight, the bombshell sees Tyler and, feeling observed, the clumsy jock looks around to notice the girl who was looking at him. In response, he just raises his hand to greet her with a smile, a gesture that Lindsay cheerfully imitates.

(Confession)

"Hanna said I couldn't get close to him, but she never said anything about him getting close to me". Lindsay had her hands on her hips as she happily mentioned this loophole in the alliance.

(Bonfire pit - 16 hours of the Awake-a-thon)

Eva is listening to music through an old MP3 player her father gave her when she was little, one of the few electronic devices she could use at camp that didn't connect her to the outside world. She had stopped talking to Tyler a while ago and was distracting herself with music to avoid falling asleep.

But the call of nature came causing the girl to have to notify Chris to send one of his assistants to keep an eye on her if she takes the opportunity to sleep. This happened without the athlete noticing that she had dropped her MP3 player on the ground.

Heather noticed this and was about to pick it up to drive her crazy. Eva's anger issues were very noticeable, but she couldn't do it when she saw DJ take it before she could.

"Wow, he sure has concentration." On another site, Geoff couldn't help but be amazed at Justin, who was standing still like a statue.

"I think we shouldn't not bother him Geoff." Bridgette approaches to warn him calmly, not wanting to interrupt Justin.

(Bonfire - 17 hours of the Awake-a-thon)

It was already early morning, at this point, the campers are starting to fall asleep. On the Gopher's side, Leshawna, Noah, and Harold were asleep, while on the Bass' side, it was Izzy, Katie, and Sadie, leaving the score at 8-7, still in favor of the Bass.

Tyler was succumbing to the effects of sleep, in his case he was having illusions, this is because he started to shout in horror something about a bear out of nowhere just before falling asleep.

Meanwhile, DJ, who had already returned Eva's MP3 player to her, tied himself to a tree so that every time he felt like he was going to fall asleep, he only had to squeeze it to keep himself awake.

"Alright campers, you've reached the 17-hour mark..." Chris still couldn't believe that most of them were still awake. He had to do something, or this would bore the audience at home. "It's time to take the next step."

Taking out one of those books of 100 bedtime stories, and with Chef dressed as a sheep and holding a harp, the host was preparing to put them to sleep once and for all. "Fairy tales!" he announces happily.

"You've got to be kidding me" Gwen doesn't know how much longer she can take this.

As he opens the book, Chris clears his throat to read, "Once upon a time, in a very boring kingdom..." The slow, muted tone he used was already taking effect, as Beth began to yawn.

"There was a boring village..." to accompany the story, Chef played the harp. "And within this village... there were very boring children."

Cody, for his part, was already falling asleep. He just settled on a pillow to close his eyes, but a sound accompanied by the worst smell he had ever encountered made him move away to see in horror what was lying on Owen's butt. At least that would keep him awake for a few more hours.

Moments later, Chef, dressed in a pink tutu, danced around the bonfire leaving sleeping dust behind. Passing by the Gophers, they remained adamant, but passing by the Bass, Bridgette couldn't take it anymore and fell asleep where she was sitting, and falls back on the ground, the same case with DJ, as he somehow brought the tree down with him, leaving the score at 6-7 in favor of the Gophers.

"Tim … ber!" Gwen shouted with a yawn.

(Bonfire - 40 hours of the Awake-a-thon)

Cody and Tyler had been asleep for a couple of hours, leaving the score at 5-6, still in favor of the Gophers.

Those who were left could hardly move well, as Courtney was trying to jog in her place but her pace was getting slower.

(Confession)

"I found out that as long as I keep moving with my mind on the goal, I'll surpass them all..." Courtney stretches for a moment with a yawn. "I just have to stay focused."

(Bonfire - 40 hours of the Awake-a-thon)

A few minutes later, Courtney couldn't take it anymore and fell unconscious, but she didn't hit the ground as Eva caught her in time.

"Good job" was all the athletic girl murmured as she placed Courtney on the ground. The polite girl showed her that she would do everything possible to help her team win. She could respect that.

"We have to ... plan a strategy," Heather yawned. She wanted to take advantage of the others being asleep or very drowsy to talk to Lindsay and Beth, but when she touched the latter's shoulder, it caused the farmer girl to fall asleep on the ground, with the bombshell following a couple of seconds later.

"...and that's why my neighbor no longer receives me and my pal Brody with open arms" Geoff mentioned to a laughing Duncan about what they had just been told.

"Dude, how can you ruin a wedding like that?" Duncan had to admit that this was the most friendly conversation he had in a long time, without officers watching him, without his father judging him for who he hangs out with, nor having to watch his back for some top dogs from juvie.

"It wasn't intentional, it was just an accident that we ended up there" Geoff couldn't help but defend himself.

"Of course you did" Duncan just rolled his eyes at that, but then he got up to see Justin, who was still standing in the same position since they started.

"Hey dude, don't you need to go to the bathroom or something?" The punk already found it strange that Justin hadn't moved at all during all this time. He shook his shoulder a bit to get him to react, but the result he got was not what he expected, as the model opened his eyes, showing that his eyelids were painted.

"Chris, he has painted eyelids!" Heather also noticed and didn't hesitate to make herself heard, drawing the attention of those still awake.

"Calm down Heather" calming the girl down, Chris went to see the model, who indeed could be considered to be cheating. "That's freaking cool man, but you're still out" with that, the score was 3-4 in favor of the Gophers."

(Confession)

"I can't ruin my beauty sleep, I would lose many contracts if I have dark circles," Justin clarifies, with his eyelids still painted.

(Bonfire - 40 hours of the Awake-a-thon)

"Are you telling me you didn't even bother to help in the challenge?" Eva couldn't believe it. The pretty boy didn't even bother from the beginning, and even if he was the last one standing, he would have been disqualified for not following the rules. She had to be stopped by two interns from doing more.

"Um ... guys, a little help?" but Justin's prayers were not answered, judging by the disapproving looks from Duncan and Geoff.

"That guy is really in trouble" Trent was thankful not to be Justin at this moment, with Gwen and Naruto nodding in agreement.

"Yeah, but at least that keeps us on advan..." but Naruto couldn't finish his sentence when he and all the conscious ones saw Owen walking naked straight into the woods, if they had seen his face, they would have noticed he was still asleep.

(Confession)

"Can anyone tell me how to erase that image from my eyes?" Trent asks with a disturbed look.

*Static*

"Did I happen to mention that I ate a bowl full of beans?" Owen asked the audience at home. "The thing is, beans make me sleepwalk."

(Bonfire - 98 hours of the Awake-a-thon)

A good amount of time had passed since the challenge began, a little over four days, and the only one who had fallen asleep in that two-day period was Geoff, leaving the score 2-4 in favor of the Gophers.

Duncan, to pass the time, pulled the hot water cup prank on Harold, causing the nerd to wet his pants.

"Oh, I can't believe it, it works" Harold, upon hearing Duncan so close, woke up and immediately covered himself when he saw his wet pants.

"That was good dude ..." Naruto praised catching the attention of the punk. "But can you top that?" he asked only to point to a spot where Duncan followed only to see Noah hugging Cody and kissing his ear, this caused them to wake up and scream in horror as loud as they could waking up the others.

After seeing this, the punk and the Japanese guy laughed at their reactions. "I have to admit Whiskers, you're good" Duncan admitted only to have Naruto raise an eyebrow at that nickname.

"Whiskers?, wasn't there a better one?" the Japanese guy asked receiving a negative response from Duncan. It seems that will be his nickname for a while.

"What's wrong with you guys? Just go to sleep already" the challenge had lost its meaning for Chris a long time ago. He took a sip of his coffee only for Gwen to cling to one of his legs.

"You have to give me that coffee man. I'll eat anything, but give me at least a sip" the poor girl is at the last ropes, to the point of begging for a coffee to stay awake.

"Alright, you 6 stay with me, the rest of you go take a shower, you stink..." Harold didn't hesitate to obey the latter to go change and shower "and finally, has anyone seen Owen?"

(Forest)

Owen could still be seen still sleepwalking naked, right now he is swimming with the fish against the current, but as the camera zoomed out and adjusted, it could be seen how the big guy and the fish climbed a waterfall without problems.

(Bonfire - 98 hours of the Awake-a-thon)

The missing campers were sitting on logs waiting for what kind of thing Chris will pull to make them sleep.

"You know, last night I was talking to Chef, telling him I didn't want to do this, but screw it, here I have the most sleep-inducing activity I could think of" Chris had had enough of this challenge.

(Confession)

"Now what?" Gwen has nothing else to lose. "You know what, bring it on."

(Bonfire - 98 hours of the Awake-a-thon)

Now Chris takes out a beaver hat and a huge book. "Alright, we're going to have a little educational reading ..." Chris couldn't finish seeing Naruto faceplant on the floor asleep upon hearing something related to education.

Just turning his head to the 5 missing ones, he finishes his sentence. "about the history of Canada, Chapter One, The Beaver, and the 'Beautiful' Hat." The missing ones only groaned, this will be hard.

(Forest)

Speaking of beavers, it seems that Owen ended up in a beaver den in a lake, as the oaf was used with various branches for the dam created by the named animals.

(Bonfire - 99 hours of the Awake-a-thon)

Heather and Eva couldn't take it anymore, being the next ones to fall asleep when Chris was halfway through the first chapter.

"Trent?" Gwen worried about her newly acquired friend when to the goth girl's horror, the musician fell asleep, leaving the score 1-1.

"Don't leave me" Gwen just wanted to give up and sleep at this point.

"Bathroom break" Chris announces, seeing that Duncan wanted to go.

"I can hold out a little longer" the confident punk clarifies, but Chris's face makes it clear he should go already. "Fine, but don't record me inside" and with that, he only left with a cameraman.

(Bathroom)

"Hey Duncan, everything okay?" it's been 20 minutes since the guy entered, so, trying out his luck, the cameraman opens the door to see the delinquent asleep on the toilet.

(Bonfire - 99 hours and 40 minutes of the Awake-a-thon)

Chris was waiting bored until the cameraman gave him a note to read. "Well well, it seems that Duncan is out of the competition, which means that..." taking Gwen's who just fell asleep at this exact moment the host announces, "Gwen is the winner! It's better to let the Bass know about this." with that he let go the hand forgetting that the girl was still asleep and face planted on the floor, but still kept sleeping.

"Uuuhh. Ooops?" was all Chris managed to say after an awkward silence.

(Bonfire pit - elimination ceremony)

The Bass could still be seen tired from the challenge sitting on cut logs with Chris holding a plate with 10 marshmallows.

"Bass, welcome to your first bonfire elimination ceremony. The rules are simple, each of you will go to the confession cab to write down the name of the person you want off the island and leave the paper inside the box you will find inside. Whoever receives the most votes will have to walk the Dock of Shame, take the Boat of Losers, and never return to this island again. Alright, time to vote."

(Confession)

DJ is seen writing a name and placing it in the box.

*Static*

Courtney does the same.

*Static*

Duncan nearly falls asleep before reacting and writes a name.

*Static*

Katie tries to write but it seems the pen has no ink, she shakes it a bit only to have her face covered in ink.

*Static*

Sadie only writes a name and then leaves without noticing that she's carrying toilet paper stuck to her shoe.

*Static*

Geoff writes the name quickly and leaves, clearly knowing who should go.

*Static*

Izzy is only drawing a boat being devoured by a shark.

*Static*

Justin writes the name somewhat worried.

*Static*

Tyler tries to write the name but the pen has no ink, and as he shakes it, he accidentally pokes himself in the eye.

*Static*

Eva writes something annoyed and leaves.

*Static*

Bridgette doesn't know who to vote for until Chris tells her that time is up.

(Bonfire pit - elimination ceremony)

"With the votes cast, I'm going to mention those who are safe: Geoff, Courtney, Eva, Duncan, Tyler, Bridgette, Izzy, DJ, Sadie." As each person is named, the campers feel safe, except for the last two, who are concerned, especially the best friends who don't want to be separated so soon.

"Well, Katie, you were one of the first ones to fall asleep on your team. Justin, that trick brought more harm than good, so the last marshmallow of the night goes to..."

Katie looks very uneasy while Justin looks worriedly at the marshmallow. Finally, Chris takes the marshmallow and throws it to the one who is safe.

Justin can only helplessly watch as the marshmallow falls into Katie's hands and the taller of the BFFF hugs Sadie.

"Sorry, dude, if you're not willing to take more risks in this game, you won't last long. The Boat of Losers is over there," Chris points with his thumb to the said boat, only for Justin to get up from his seat and walk toward it and leave the island.

(Confession)

"I already mentioned it, get to work or you'll be kicked out," Eva says with a yawn. Seriously, she needs to sleep.

(Dock of Shame)

"Well, this challenge was longer than expected..." Chris mentions standing next to the camp sign. "We had our first elimination, and many more will come. The campers are getting to know each other, and friend groups are forming. Who will be next to take the Walk of Shame and take the Boat of Losers? Find out next time on TOTAL... DRAMA... ISLAND!"

End of the episode

Campers:

Screaming Gophers: Beth, Cody, Gwen, Harold, Heather, Leshawna, Lindsay, Naruto, Noah, Owen, Trent.

Killer Bass: Bridgette, Courtney, DJ, Duncan, Eva, Geoff, Izzy, Katie, Sadie, Tyler.

Eliminated: Justin

Well, the butterfly effect is already altering things. Gwen is getting closer to Naruto, but not in love. There's a difference between the two. Also, Naruto indirectly gave Eva a method to better control her anger, which will help her go further in the game. As for Heather, this version of our favorite drama queen has decided to be more discreet with her alliance, so she won't become public enemy number one right from the start. She'll remain hidden until it's too late for the others. This is because, if I'm honest and realistic, she should have been among the first ones to go because of her attitude.

Regarding couples, as I mentioned before, it will be an harem because the people reading the spanish version decided it like that, I really have no idea how the heck I am going to do that, but suggestions are accepted as long as they are realistic and could be applied in real life, remember that the TD universe is similar to our world in that regard, so don't expect me to play the same card as Mumei Mu, I'm getting inspired by him/her, but I don't want to copy him/her.

That's it for now from the not so much of a reader now.

I will be reading the reviews, accepting constructive criticism and interesting ideas.

Until next time.

(Post-credits, off-camera)

Owen can be seen sleeping in a cave. Curiously, he is being analyzed by a Sasquatch and a bear, who don't know what to do with him until the oaf farts suffocating them both. The smell is so strong that they ended up kicking him out of the cave.
