"Holy!" Spider-Man says aloud. "Was that a Kamehameha?"
"Kid, I don't think Hawaii has anything to do with what we just saw." Dr. Strange responds.
"Mother!" Ebony Maw calls out. She is now very concerned for her leader. She looks down at her opponents and debates if she should leave them alone or not. They both turn back to her and wait to see what she plans to do first. Maw growls at the constant interruptions, and decides she can spare the moment and teleports away.
They both watch the spot Ebony Maw was at for a long moment before Peter speaks up. "Do you think she's coming back?"
"It's hard to say," Steven Strange replies, while she rushes forward to the broken sling ring. She kneels down and picks it up. There is a pouch by her side, where she has the other one also. She places it in the pouch, before turning back toward Peter. "We'd better go check on them." she says.
"Right." Peter responds. They both run toward the fight.
*** not too far away ***
"What do you think that was?" Bucky asks T'Challa.
"I don't know, but I hope it was on our side." She responds. Proxima Midnight is still looking in the direction of the beam with legit concern. She recognized the asteroid that housed the throne room. She is debating what to do when the bubble surrounding her own asteroid starts to flicker and dissipates. She looks around to verify it is inactive. She glances at her opponents only a moment, then back toward the asteroid.
Proxima Midnight starts to run in the general direction of the asteroid and activates a communicator on her wrist. "I need someone to get me up there." she says.
"Do you think we should follow her?" Bucky asks.
"I think we should try radioing the others first, now that that shield is down." T'Challa responds.
"Yeah, that's probably a good idea." Bucky responds before activating his radio and calling out.
*** Directly below the throne ***
"That was a photon laser." Sam Wilson tells Drax, pointing at the sky. "I'd know Tony's handiwork anywhere."
"So that's where they are." Drax responds.
"I can fly up there and try to get someone to come back for you." Sam offers. Hopefully it won't take too long.
"Or you can take me with you." Drax offers. "I could ride on your back."
"I can't express enough, how much of a bad idea that is." Rhodes responds.
"Do you lack the strength?" Drax asks.
"No, but you would most likely freeze to death in the vacuum of space."
"I can take it!" Drax protests.
James Rhodes looks at Drax, wondering how serious she is being, then looks down at her exposed bodice. "Somehow I don't think it's worth the risk., but I'll send someone back for you." Sam waves at Drax and begins to fly off, activating his new helmet.
"Coward!" Drax shouts after him.
*** the next asteroid over ***
The shield around the asteroid dissipates as Nebula and Black Swan stop their fight.
"Wow." Mantis says. They choose to ignore his comment.
Nebula is the first to brush off the distraction as he turns toward his opponent ready to fight again.
Black Swan no longer looks prepared for combat. Her face is full of concern and shock now.
"What happened?" Nebula asks. "Are you alright?"
Black Swan looks toward Nebula and is legit surprised by his concern. She wonders if she should answer for a moment, but chooses to anyway. "It's Thanos... I can't sense her."
"What?" Nebula asks. "Is he dead?"
Black Swan turns her head and scans above with her mind. "I don't know..." she answers, before turning back toward Nebula with a confused look.
"What is wrong with you?" Nebula asks, getting annoyed at Black Swan's sudden lack of desire to fight.
"She's lost." Mantis answers.
"What? No..." Black Swan responds.
"She's never had anyone to lead her, now she has no purpose again." Mantis adds.
"Get out of my head!" Black Swan shouts.
"But you're in my head." Mantis responds.
"Shut up! No I'm not!" Black Swan replies.
"I don't know what's going on." Nebula tells them, rather confused.
"Do you want to join us?" Mantis asks. "I was lost too, before Peter found me."
"No! What?" Black Swan says. "Are you crazy? You don't even know me!"
"Yes! Are you crazy?" Nebula asks.
"I'm just trying to be helpful." Mantis responds. "Do you want to go check if Thanos is alright, then?" Mantis offers a little too happily.
Black Swan looks down rather confused and thinks about the question. She looks back up at the two and feels crazy for what she's about to do. She touches a device on her wrist and begins to talk into it. "This is Black Swan... I've captured the enemies. I need transport immediately." There is a garbled response, but she takes it as a yes before looking back toward her opponents. "You will come along as my prisoners."
"Yay!" Mantis says while clapping.
"This is insane!" Nebula responds.
*** The last group ***
"I don't want to hurt you, my love!" Vision shouts toward Wanda as he struggles to break from her magical binds. She remains concentrated on Vision, oblivious of her surroundings.
Supergiant is looking off in the distance at the remains of the proton blast. A few moments later, the shield surrounding the asteroid begins to dissipate.
"What was that?" Rocket asks.
"I think that was Tony." Natasha responds.
"That was definitely Tony!" Rhodes says as he flies in close.
"Whoa ho ho!" Says Rocket wide eyed. "You guys wouldn't happen to have another one of those giant lasers sitting around, would you?" Rocket asks in legit awe. "Because it would be real helpful in our saving of the galaxy and all." Natasha and Rhodes look at Rocket, wondering if she is serious.
Supergiant looks back toward Vision, then looks toward Natasha, Rhodes, and Rocket. He contemplates what to do for only a moment before turning away and flying off toward the throne. As he's flying off he notices the cable stuck to his spear. He breaks the clamp and tosses it away.
Wanda unexpectedly stops fighting Vision and turns toward Supergiant. He glows red and starts to follow. Clint comes rushing up from behind and tries to catch hold of him, missing.
Wanda flies up into the air and rushes off quickly.
"Wanda!" Vision shouts, shooting after the two.
"I think it's chasing time!" Rhodes says shooting off after them also.
"Hey, what about us!" Rocket shouts as War Machine flies off.
"Take a speeder." Valkyrie shouts back. He is pulling a speeder out from under a dead outrider. "There are plenty of them."
"We'd better join them." Black Widow says, as he rushes to the nearest speeder and jumps on.
"Yea, good idea." Hawkeye says as he starts to do the same.
"Alright fine..." Rocket grumbles. She looks at her belt and activates her bubble shield. "Groot! Come on, it's time to go!"
"I am Groot."
"What?"
"I am Groot!"
"What do you mean you don't know how to ride a speeder?" Rocket asks. "You play your video games all day, it can't be very different from that."
"I am Groot!"
"Grr.. fine!" Rocket turns off her bubble shield. "Just grab one, and I'll show you." Rocket starts rushing toward Groot, who is picking up a speeder while still looking at his game. "And put that game away! We need you at 100% right now.
"I am Groot." Groot puts his game on sleep mode, before Rocket jumps on his lap.
*** Back at the Throne***
"That really hurt!" Mojo complains. There are several camera drones which have sprouted limbs and they are trying to help him sit upright.
"Serves you right, you blob." Star-Lord tells him. "What made you think teaming up with Thanos was a good idea? You know he probably would have killed you too."
"The Mojoverse isn't affected by the infinity stones." Mojo responds. "I had nothing to lose..." He smiles. "Plenty to gain." He snickers at this. Star-Lord furls her brows when hearing this news.
"I'm sorry to interrupt..." Tony Stark, calls out, "but what is that thing?" He points at Mojo.
Mojo and Star-Lord both turn to look at Tony. "It's Mojo." Star-Lord answers. "He's a spineless one, from another dimension."
"Hi." Mojo says with a pretend wave. He reaches out as he starts to tilt over again. Tony Stark looks at Mojo in awe, not sure what to make of the information he's just heard.
"Think of him as a crazed alien Johnny Carson, but a lot more successful." Star-Lord tells Tony.
"Awe... That's sweet of you." Mojo responds. "Can someone get me a new chair!" He shouts into the nearest camera.
"He knows Johnny Carson?" Tony asks, surprised.
Star-Lord shrugs her shoulders in response. "He's obsessed with entertainment." She adds.
"I think he's pretty cool." Scott Lang says, walking around from behind Mojo.
"Scott," Hope calls from a distance, "Get away from that thing." Ant-Man ignores hima and keeps studying Mojo in fascination.
Tony turns toward Wasp, then looks at Thor who is standing next to the cooling trail of melted rock and looking off into the distance.
"You okay there, Point Break?" Tony calls out.
Thor turns back toward Tony and still has a surprised look on his face. "That was seriously cool, Tony. Do you think you killed him, I mean her?"
"I think if we didn't, she's not too happy." Tony responds.
"You realize, you probably just destroyed the stones, right?" Thor says.
"Oh yeah!" Ant-Man joins the conversation. "What are we going to do about us?"
"Now that I think about it," Star-Lord says, sounding a little upset, "What are we going to do about us." He glares angrily at Tony.
"I'm sorry." Tony says, a little offended. "I guess I got a little preoccupied with trying to save the galaxy!"
Star-Lord wants to argue back, but realizes Tony didn't have much choice.
"Besides," Tony adds, "We have a wizard. I'm sure he can think up something."
"That's right you do have a wizard!" Thor says happily. "I've met him a few times. Good guy."
Star-Lord and the others seem to accept this as a possible solution.
"I suppose someone ought to tell Rogers and Banner, they're stuck like that for a little longer." Thor says with a chuckle, as he gestures toward the Captain talking to Bruce, who is still trapped in the HulkBuster.
Tony looks toward the two, but can only see Rogers. He feels a rush of relief just seeing that she is alright. The suit she is wearing is dimly lit due to using most of its power. Tony taps the reactor on his chest and it projects his suit's statistics.
67% structure retained
33% irreparable
27% power remaining
Unstable
Tony notices the power rating flickering along with a few other warnings. He figures he has enough power to restore some of the captain's suit, so he rushes toward Steve. When he gets close, he talks to Bruce first. He suddenly feels worried he'll seem a little too eager to speak to Rogers.
"You doing ok in there Bruce?" Tony asks. "You took quite a hit there."
"Yeah, I think I'm good." Bruce responds. "I'm just kind of stuck."
Tony turns toward Steve. "Hey Captain, come here." When Steve walks up Tony places a hand over her arc reactor. His suit immediates starts sharing it's energy.
Steve Rogers jumps a little before realizing what Tony is doing. She notices Tony's reaction and feels a little guilty for thinking he was being inappropriate. She tries not to blush, but can't help it.
Tony realizes he has his hand directly on Roger's cleavage and suddenly feels dumb at not thinking about how it might look. "Sorry about that." Tony tells Steve. "I just wanted to give you back some of your energy from earlier."
"Yeah, of course." Steve Rogers replies, trying to shake the embarrassment, but not being able to.
"Everything alright out there?" Bruce asks, not being able to see very well.
Tony removes his hand from Steve and turns toward the Hulk Buster. "I suppose we had better get her out of there. Can you lend me a hand, Cap?" He asks Steve.
"With pleasure." Steve responds, eager to shake the awkward air.
They both walk up to the suit and start pulling at wires. Tony manages to get ahold of a huge plate and pull it off the chest. They can all see each other now.
"What have you done with Mother!" Someone suddenly shouts from overhead. Tony and Steve look up just in time to see Ebony Maw floating down toward them and launching sharp projectiles. They both jump away. She does not notice Bruce sitting in the suit, as she is now hovering just above her. "Where is Thanos!" Ebony Maw growls.
Tony and Steve watch Maw for a moment waiting for her to make a move, but she seems to legitimately be waiting for them to answer.
After the shock of the surprise wears off, Tony shakes his head and steps forward. "Hey uhm Pinky," He rudely addresses Ebony Maw, "You're master is gone now. Probably blown into a million pieces. There's nothing left for you here."
Maw sneers at Tony. "Master Thanos is not dead, and you will be a fool to think otherwise!"
"You see that!" Tony points toward the burnt ground where Thanos once stood.
As Tony continues to mince words with Ebony Maw, Steve Rogers notices Bruce's face change to one of panic. She turns away from Bruce and looks toward Tony.
There is an extremely tall black figure standing behind him. It is a woman, and she looks badly and completely burnt. Steve turns toward Tony in a panic and reaches out toward him. The woman turns also, lifting her right arm to reveal she is wielding a large double bladed sword. Glints of her armor where it is not too burned reflect what little star-light they can.
"Tony!" Steve Rogers shouts. Time seems to start moving slowly for her. She steps forward, grabs Tony's arm, and pulls him out of the way.
The tall burnt woman twists her sword to follow her target. Steve Rogers turns away from her as she pulls Tony even harder, eventually moving him in front of her. Fearing for his life she then pushes him hard, tossing him well out of reach.
Thanos steps forward attempting to change her slash into a lunge, and ends up impaling the wrong target instead.
