Song for this story: Alive, by Daughtry

Prologue:

It is a cold Halloween night, the wind is blowing hard against the houses on the street causing a high whistle. On the flowerbeds nearby had a fine layer of dew frost showing how cold it is right now. The weather is not fit for anyone to be out at this time. Being 11:59 a.m. Albus Dumbledore just got word moments before apparating to the destination he needed to be. He received word that his favorite pair of students passed by the hands of the dark lord, with that dreadful killing curse. The house was blown to smithereens on the second floor of the house. In the child's nursery. Who by chance was able to live from the phenomenon?

Lily and James Potter have been awarded with the order of Merlin's first class. Sadly their last living child will be raised without parents. Their daughter, Ashley Lily Potter. James had full rein in naming their daughter Ashley, because of the ashwood that is used to make racing brooms as well as for the tradition in the Evans family to name their daughters after plants, so what better to him than naming his daughter after his favorite wood for quidditch? Lily for her middle name is due to the tradition of naming the firstborn after the parent they resemble most in the Potter family. Ashley has all the characteristics of Lily. Even at the age of one, she has red hair and emerald eyes. Completely her mother's doppelganger. He loved so much that his daughter resembled the woman whom he loved most. He couldn't think of the best characteristics for his beautiful baby girl. Albus knew so much from legilimency. He wouldn't wish anyone to know the pain that Ashley is feeling right now. Even though it's illegal to perform that charm on a child let alone it was unthinkable to do it on a baby. But sacrifices had to be made for the greater good. He knew that. He regrets so much that he had to be elsewhere when this all went down. He really felt like they were part of his family. A small tear that glistens in the moonlight falls down his cheek due to the regret he feels.

Walking down the street deep in thought of the young Potter Heiress, Albus made it to the end of the pavement by the sidewalk and pulled out his deluminator. A wizarding artifact he made to turn out the light in desperate times of need within the presence of muggles. The special thing about his deluminator was that the magic it created couldn't be traced by anyone. It was a special creation he made with runes and alchemy. He takes a deep breath and with great care and precision, he is able to be discreet. Using the device he turns out the light in every house on Private Drive, Little Winging, Surrey England.

Here within this normal-as-can-be home, lies Petunia Dursley né Evans (muggle) asleep with her husband, Vernon Dursley, and son Dudley Dursley. Petunia is and was sister to Lily Jane Potter né Evans. Lily grew up as a muggle-born witch. Married to James Charlus Potter. A pure-blood heir and Lord of the Potter name. Lily was able to get away from the mundane world of England and go to a fairy tale land and to Petunia which made her jealous. Her sister was always perfect. While she lacked in places she couldn't understand. She wasn't smart enough, pretty enough, talented enough. She was just what her sister's freak of a best friend called her. Plainly muggle. So if that is her best quality as a person, she will damn well sell the normality of it all. She has a normal husband and a normal son. She worked for that more than being handed anything. Life would give her lemons? Well hell, she will make lemonade out of all the lemons in her life she had received.

After the lights on the street go out Minerva McGonagall transforms from her cat animagus quietly waiting to be recognized by her past transfiguration teacher. "I should have known you'd be here McGonagall." With his final word, she transforms immediately back into a human. Dressed in her well-known green robes and spectacles. "Please think this through Professor. Lily didn't want the Dursleys around her daughter. She confided in me while she was in school. Her older sister hated magic."

"There, there, Minerva. I plan to wake them up. I know it's not the time to do this. But Ashley must come first. Her childhood is at stake." He looks grave for a moment when he hears the sound of the bike Hagrid is riding and lands as quietly as he can trying hard not to wake the town.

Albus and Minerva cast multiple spells for secrecy and quietness before Hagrid walks with Ashley in his arms where he takes one final look at the sleeping form of the tike with her finger in her mouth. Her face is blotchy from stress and tears track down her face. He couldn't help but feel for Ashley having just lost her parents and her home in one night by a megalomaniac.

*Thump, Thump, THUMP*

Minerva takes a deep breath and knocks on the door of the Dursleys not daring to wait for any of her companions to knock. She didn't trust them to just knock. No she half expected that Dumbledore would leave the Potter Heiress on the steps of the muggles.

"If I catch the blasted fool who woke up Dudikins I will skin them alive Tuni." Mr. Dursley shouts at the top of the house not even having an hour of sleep. Dudley has been having trouble sleeping at night which in turn caused the whole house to be up with him.

"Yes, dear." She complied in turn. Before opening the door to their front house to find three strange "freaky" people. One so tall that they forced him to stay outside.

This caused Hagrid to blubber about saying goodbye to Ashley. "There, There, Hagrid. It's not really goodbye."

"Ah, right." He wipes his face and watches both Minerva and Albus go inside.

"You must have a good reason to be here," Vernon replies irritably.

"In the middle of the night, we have been informed that your sister Lily and her husband James have been attacked and didn't make it," Albus replies.

"Why aren't the proper authorities showing up at our doorstep? Shouldn't there be more going on than two halfwits and a ... a giant oaf of a person showing up at our door?" Vernon replies instead of Petunia though she has tears in her eyes. 'No one makes Tuni cry like that.'

"That's the thing, Mr. Dursley. I am the proper authority, I'm a chief warlock." Albus answers in return taking off his hat and looking down.

"You're all that young Ashley has for family. Lily cast a bloodline shield on her daughter to save Ashley. Only in a home where blood family raises her will the wards hold to stay true. She must call the house she grew up in. Home." Albus continues trying so hard not to be interrupted. Or end up being here longer than he has to.

"You're mistaken. We have no way of raising another child. We are on a fixed income. I'm still waiting for my job to take off. Can't you see how distraught my wife is with the news?" Vernon can't understand his audacity. 'to just dump a child off somewhere?'

"She has nowhere else to go. Like it or not, she's all you've got too."

Petunia is sitting there shaking her head completely in heartbreak. She had invited her sister over last night to trick-or-treating with their family. She had cried to Vernon in their bed over not having her sister follow through with her word in spending time with her. She had cursed her sister's name for not answering her phone, she didn't realize she was already dead when she called.

Still shaking her head in shock, "Lily is really dead? I thought she hated me when she didn't show up last night for Halloween. It's true I wasn't the nicest sister. But ... I was just jealous." She runs from the room crying hysterically.

'Lily will never know how much I did Love her.' Her thought rolls through Albus Dumbledore's Legilimens spell. Feeling the complete sorrow roll off her in waves he feels like he's overstepping.

"Maybe this is your chance to show Lily you do love her by raising Little Ashley as well as she would have Dudley if it was you that passed on instead. You know that Lily would have raised your child like her own," Minerva replies trying to come up with an idea feeling like she was completely wrong about the Dursleys.

Vernon looks at his wife and sees her in distress and sighs. "Maybe it will be good for us to raise her ourselves. That way she can have a normal childhood that we both had. That in of itself is magic don't you think Tuni? The gift of innocence, surely that isn't a bad thing." He looks at The glasses-wearing old man.

"Innocence is definitely magic Mr Dursley."

With Dursley's words to raise Ashley like Lily would, they were informed that Ashley is an Heiress and should be raised properly as a young lady should. Albus gave the key to Ashley's Gringotts vault to Vernon before leaving with Minerva and Hagrid. They were none the wiser that they'd been duped.

Outside of the house of the Dursley before they leave Dumbledore looks to Minerva and replies, "Don't worry Minerva, If they don't keep their word, the key comes back to me. It takes a week time for it to decide this. So let's go okay?" Minerva nods to her old teacher now turned collegue and fully apparates back to Hogwarts.

Chapter One: The Beauty Untold

Though they were told what to do with young Ashley. They didn't follow through with their promises. After a week of having Ashley home with them. They found they couldn't bear to look at her. She truly looks like her mother. That in-of-it-self sets Petunia to place her in a cupboard under the stairs more often than she could count. It was too freaky looking at her sister in the form of this tiny little child, who had a scar on her forehead that wouldn't close. Even then they would get stares like they were abusers of her when all they did was watch her. They couldn't handle taking her places with all of those stares.

They didn't know why the Gringot's key had long since disappeared. So in payment, they made her do the cooking, the cleaning, the dusting, and the gardening, and she was never allowed to be anywhere but in places they could see her. Even though they hated looking at her like they did.

One time in Ashley's life she asked why Dudley got presents and she didn't. She was only 4 when she asked and was then bent over her uncle's knee and he whipped good to the point she had open wounds and welts up and down her back because "You have no place asking questions."

Life at the Dursleys was never as it seemed for the Dursley's household. If you asked anyone on Private Drive about the Dursleys they would answer "The Dursleys? They are a normal family of three. Normal as they can be." But they didn't know that the family was and is a family of four. Mister and Missus Dursley worked hard for the reputation they got in Private Drive from their neighbors. If a random stranger asked, "What did you do to gain such a following?" They would smile arrogantly and reposition themselves in a way to boast about their life like arrogant roosters they never were and reply, "We go to church every Sunday. We are the ones that worked from the bottom to where we are today." Then goes on long tangents about where they were before they moved to Private Drive. Almost always when they go on such tangents they form a crowd outside their house. The people of the town don't know there is a child doing the cooking, the cleaning, the laundry, and the dusting of photos of people that were never shown in the said photos she had to dust. She doesn't even know what she looks like other than that she has long red hair that reaches her hips. Very small. Dressed in a long army green colored dress that reaches the top of her feet.

Barely being the age of five now, there were expectations she had to follow. "Little girls are meant to be seen and not heard." Her uncle once told her. She was never allowed to ask questions. Even though she had many to ask. She left them be. "Freak" had learned the hard way after all. Almost always when she asked what her name was, or why she couldn't go to church too. She always got the same answer. "Freaks" don't go to church. Or "Freaks are Freaks, and don't have normal names like us." and "Don't ask questions." As well as "Get back to work."

But if anyone asked "Freak" where she lived up to now she wouldn't say anything to them, but would want to tell the truth. 'A dog cage' up to the day she turned five. Now she lived in the cupboard under the stairs. Freak is happy to no longer live in the dog cage anymore. She finally has a room to herself. She can turn the light on whenever she wants because she is still afraid of the dark. She has done so many chores for her room. Which gives her a different appreciation that Dudely doesn't have. It's not his, it's hers. And she loved it.

When she started school she didn't know her own name she only knew her relatives to call her "freak" or "girl." More often than not they expected her to answer to it and when she didn't she would find herself laying over Uncle Vernon's leg being whipped with his leather belt.

Because she was used to this she looked at her teacher honestly and said her name was "Freak" which had everyone in the classroom laughing. Not understanding, because that is what she knew her name to be she just waits for everyone to quiet down before she continues, "Is that really my name?" She asks with complete honesty after hearing the teacher say her name from the roaster.

"Right here it says, 'Ashley Potter' Born July 31st. Do you know this too? Your birthday?" The teacher asked, she didn't remember what she said her name was. She was too focused on the fact that she had a birthday and name.

Ines Ray the teacher of Saint Grogory's primary school, never saw such truth from a child that didn't know their own name. If one of the boys had done this, she would have thought that they were pulling a prank. But with eyes like Ashley's, you know that you know that she's telling the truth and nothing seems right as it seemed on paper.

Mrs. Ray learned when to recognize abuse, and this was one of those cases. A girl didn't know her name or birthday. It makes you wonder what other things were subjected to the little girl at the hands of her so-called family. No family would have the heart to not call someone by their name but using the words "Freak" or some other degrading name is verbal abuse. Ines is afraid of what she would find if she went to the house that is documented where young Ashley lives.

On her desk lays a newspaper that references anyone that it is September 1st, 1985. Just the beginning of a new school year. Pulling out the directory in her drawer she looks up Albus Dumbledore's information. In the newspaper, it says he's willing to help in all situations when it comes to the care of helping a child leave a difficult situation that is unthinkable to discuss in normal matters. He iterates that abuse is and will never be, "Normal."

Mrs. Ray waits for her lunch hour to call for this Dumbledore. On the phone, she finds what had him to make such a claim in the newspaper, that he long ago had a feeling he needed to put his information in the paper to help children who were being mistreated in a way that is unthinkable to describe. By the end of the week, he would gather the much-needed intel and personnel to help with this case of Ashley Potter.

Ever since the first day of school, Ashley Potter found that she couldn't get used to the actual name she was born with. It felt weird to her to be named anything other than "Freak" or "Girl." She has long since come to terms with the fact that maybe, she wasn't liked for some odd reason by her relatives. Though she held no ill will or intent toward them. It's like they expected her to do something in return to them after finding out her name.

She didn't know if there was anything to do other than let it go because well. She's not really their equal to be asking questions, let alone starting a confrontation. If she did such a thing she might be put back in the dog cage for disobedience. She hated the dog cage, almost always when she was in there. Vernon would always call his sister to the house and have her dogs attack the cage she was in to threaten her to do something to be whipped with the belt.

With today's worksheet and assignments for the weekend. Ashley sets off to walk home to private drive. The Dursleys said, "The moment you start school, you will not be picked up from school. Our Darling Dudikins deserves the room in the backseat. He doesn't need your stink and filth filling the air he breathes." She was too young to understand the magnitude of what they said about her. She couldn't help but feel like and wonder to herself, 'How am I not going to smell? I do everything within the house. I'm not even allowed to use the bathroom. All I have is a bucket and when I do the yard work outside I have the hose to clean off in. But that's only when it's hot outside. and when it rains I can take a shower in the rain. Again that's only when it's not too cold to do that.' Not understanding the emotions she is feeling she slows down her walking and cries against a tree on one of her neighbor's front lawns.

"If there is a god. The same god that my relatives say they worship. Can you please save me? Anywhere will be better than this 'Perfectly Normal' hell I've been subjected to my whole life." Not knowing that there were guests at the Dursleys, a man comes up behind her and gets to her eye level.

"Hey, are you lost?" he asks trying not to scare her when he asks.

Ashley looks up at him with tears in her eyes though her eyes are partly burning she looks at the tall man who is at her level. She never knew of anyone who would want to come down to be at her level. Most of the time the adults in her life would want to tower and be above her and make her feel intimidated. The man before her has beautiful brown eyes with green flecks in them. Anyone with not good eyesight like hers would see a deep brown instead of what she saw. with beautiful black silky hair that glows in the sun of the evening glow. he was dressed in all black, to others that would probably make him look evil. But to young Ashley. He looked like an angel sent from heaven after she got through praying to a god she didn't know even knew of her.

"You're pretty, are you an angel?" she asks sweetly still with tears in her eyes. She doesn't care if others are watching her.

He smiles warmly at Ashley and replies, "No, I'm but a man. But I would like to help you if you wish."

Ashley never met someone so nice, so friendly, 'and he's an adult' screamed in her head. "My home is but a block away. Mister. I had to walk from school to home."

"Why didn't you ride the bus home? Or have a friend take you home?" the mystery man asked.

"I don't have a friend and my relatives said the bus doesn't come here. So I had to walk." She looked down at the ground feeling like she was talking too much. She was never allowed to talk. 'Little girls are meant to be seen not heard.' Runs through her mind.

"I'm sure you're allowed to talk and walk with someone then. Tell me about yourself. For every question I ask how about you ask me a question?" He reaches his hand out for her to take so she can walk safely home. Severus couldn't understand how Petunia could let her niece walk home alone. Didn't she know there are perverts everywhere? She could be kidnapped for goodness' sake! Or god forbid, molested! For someone who worked so hard to be normal. She's the one that is turning out to be the freaky one. Who obsesses over normality and perfection? Of course, Petunia Dursley.

"I'm told that little girls are meant to be seen and not heard." She looks down again trying hard to not give too much away of what she's been through. "Maybe it's okay to say this though," She replies to herself hoping and praying this won't turn out to be something bad for her.

"Only bad people who have bad intentions with the opposite sex say this about little girls. Don't let it get to you okay? Don't think your head on it, you're smarter and brighter and worth more of the people who put it in your head that you are beneath them." Severus encourages his best friend's daughter. His goddaughter. It's about time someone did so for her. She needs the confidence she will get when she goes back to the wizarding world.

"What's your name mister, I don't want to keep thinking of you as just someone sir who has come to help me." She looks up at him her eyes shining in a cute way that shows that she is still a child and has much innocence. Severus was proud to see that she still had even that.

"My name is Severus." He replies with a warm smile to her. He couldn't but smile at her. Her characteristics are everything that Lily was when she was Ashley's age. All that he feels for his goddaughter is paternal love and anyone who would want to taint that will find the end of his wand at wand point.

"My name is free... Ashley Potter." She flinches knowing that her real name doesn't feel right on her tongue.

"That's a beautiful name, do you know what that means?" He asks her trying to make her feel better about her name. Because in the Wizarding world names are precious name sakes that if anyone who tried to take it could be sent to Azkaban for line theft.

"No," She looks down again shyly before she continues "It must mean freak right?"

'Petunia what did you do!' He yells in his mind. Before he answers her honestly, "You're name is beautiful. It's old English. 'æsc' relates to the ash tree type and 'lēah' means forest glade. Together Ashley, it means 'Dweller near the ash tree meadow.' The name Ashley is often considered to be connected to realistic decision-making. Many people named Ashley demonstrate intelligence, guts, flow, and intuition. Ashleys have interests in the unknown, from what's behind a rock, to what is the meaning of life. If you want to get technical about the tree itself, Ash trees were given the meaning of being protective by not only the Vikings but the Gaelic people as well. They are very popular, the second most of any tree, and were known to create a protective layer for pure water sources." Severus couldn't help but let his teacher's personality show to Ashley. Having her near him he just wants to teach the best way he knows how. Obviously, the Dursleys didn't do what they said would do. They neglected her. Starved her, verbally and mentally abused her to the point she doesn't even like her own name. What type of person does that to anyone?

"Then what does Severus mean?" Ashley looks up in wonder at this nice man who is willing to teach her all about names. He even helped her feel better about her own. How could she hate her name? It's so beautiful. It doesn't even make her feel like a freak anymore. 'Where did this confidence come from?' she asks herself.

"My name, I wish it was different. I wish there was more meaning like yours. But I have come to terms that it was the namesake my mother gave me so I've accepted it. my name comes from ancient Rome which means serious severe or even stern. Though I tend to be all of the above. I try really hard not to be like this all the time. When it comes to something important I'm doing. Like teaching, I don't want anyone to get hurt so it comes out in a different way. Everyone has their flaws. I know this. So maybe my namesake talks about those flaws, but in a way that everyone can be like this too. It's eye-opening."

"You're a teacher?" Ashley asks in wonder and excitement.

"Yeah, I'm a teacher in Scotland at a boarding school. What do you want to be when you grow up?" They are slowly getting to where Ashley's house is and answer honestly.

"I think I want to be in the medical field or as well as be a teacher. I want to be helpful as well as save lives. I don't know if I can get the grades to do it. But I want to try really hard to be somebody."

As they get close to the house of the Dursley there is a crowd of the neighbors outside number four private drive. "What's going on?" Ashley asks. She didn't understand why there were so many people outside the house. All she wanted to do was get back to doing her chores so she wouldn't get into trouble with her family. Almost always when she is late or doesn't get anything done. Petunia hits her with a frying pan causing blood on the back of her head and she lies in the cupboard under the stairs because she isn't allowed to go anywhere else for protection. For some reason when she started school her list of chores has gotten longer. She has to sweep the driveway and then vacuum the driveway. Who needs to vacuum cement? She also needed to power wash the house with the hose, and then water the roses because Petunia wanted to be in a magazine about perfect yards. Because there is an award of five thousand pounds for first place.

"Ashley, my friends and I are here to help you, and protect you. After today, you will no longer be living here at this house." Severus looks down to find a crying girl.

"There is a God. Isn't there Severus?" Tears are streaming down her face making her already green eyes darker.

Severus bends down again and crouches down on his knees as he looks up to Ashley. He never wants her to feel beneath anyone ever again. "Why did you ask that, why wouldn't there be a God? I don't know much about religion. But I know that hope, hope, innocence, faith, and trust, are never bad. When someone hurts you to the point that you question those feelings. It has nothing to do with you but all with them who made you feel such a way. I am truly here to help you, Ashley. I can see you've not been treated with the best intentions. So please confide in me and tell me what you have faced in these dark halls that should have been home and not your doom."

Ashley couldn't bear being around the crowd so she walked across the street to the park and talked with Severus instead in private. Not knowing that Severus had put a silencing spell of his creation around them. So the nosey on-lookers wouldn't hear anything that was being talked about. Ashley couldn't help but wring her hands as she thought of everything that she had been through with her relatives. She then lists everything, "I lived in a dog cage up to the age of five, now I live in the cupboard under the stairs. I'm forced to do the cooking, cleaning, dusting, gardening, and repairs on the house. I'm never allowed to ask questions and have to do as I'm told. When my relatives go to church I'm not allowed to attend because well I'm a freak and freaks don't go to church. In the words of Uncle Vernon. I'm not allowed to eat with the family when I make the food, and when they are done and completely full that is when I get the scraps. Even then that isn't enough food for me. Because it's mostly gone until then. I'm not allowed to drink the water from the sink in the kitchen I'm only allowed to drink from the gardening hose. The dress I'm wearing is the only clothes I have. Because I'm not good enough for more clothes other than the ones on my back. I'm not allowed to watch TV or listen to music because freaks don't have the luxury of such things. I'm not allowed to celebrate birthdays because freaks don't have a family that cares about them to celebrate their turning a year older. I'm not allowed to celebrate Christmas because Father Christmas doesn't visit children who don't have a family. I'm not allowed to get mail because freaks don't have friends. Aunt Petunia has said that I'm dumber than I seem for a freak. I'm whipped for questions I ask because I'm not allowed to ask them. I think I have scars on my back and legs."

She is swinging on the swing set as her thoughts are lost because she can't bear to tell him what Marge did to her too. Would he believe her? Does he truly care enough to know these things? Even her teacher didn't know the magnitude of what she's been through. Will she know who the people are here to help her? What's so special about her to get the help she has constantly prayed for to finally receive it now. Is it too little too late? She remembers Marge screaming at her calling her a satan for something strange that happened around her. All she could think about was that she didn't have friends so maybe that did make her satan. She pumps her legs harder as she leans back she sees her feet almost touch the clouds.

"What would it be like to fly Severus?" She stops swinging the swing set and starts to talk about something lighter. Because she couldn't help but still talk about all of the bad stuff.

"I know what it would be like to fly, but I want to know why you are hiding more Ashley, I'm not going to hurt you. I promise. That would be counterintuitive don't you think?"

"I've been hit with belts, shoes, pots and pans. They even threatened to kill me a few times. When I was a baby I think if I remember correctly I would pull the nobs on the washer and dryer off because, in my baby brain, I like to hear the snap of the nob being pulled off. Aunt Marge suggested to Uncle Vernon that they should hook up a live wire to the metal washer and dryer and the shock would stop me from ever doing it again. Instead, she put me in the dog cage and started her rain of letting her dogs attack me from the outside of the cage. I wasn't really protected. I remember the cage was big not big enough for a child and there was wood on the top of the cage so whenever they had any company show up they could hide that I was at a table in the dining room. I was never allowed to make a sound even when I was afraid for my life in most situations and in others because of the dark. I'm afraid of the dark still. So I have to turn my light on in my room to go to sleep normally. I think all of this caused me to feel afraid of the unknown." Slowly the sun begins to set. She never really talked to someone so much and asked questions as she had with anyone other than this man. "Why can't you be my dad?" her lips tremble before she asks, "Why don't I have a family that wants me?"

Her emotions get the better of her and she cries really hard with the sorrow of it all. That's when Severus pulls her into a hug and comforts her. While she is crying there is a man that walks to the two and sits on a bench before talking to Severus. "What did you find out my friend?"

"Albus, it's not good. Truly not good. It's worse than we thought and I hope you know that we need to get her out of here if you really want her to trust us. I feel like if she stays here she will lose her sense of hope and trust and her innocence will be gone. She is too young to feel jaded by the world." He turns his head away trying not to cry with the child in his arms.

Albus's eyes twinkle at Severus as he watches all that his friend learned tonight with Ashley Potter.

Amelia Bones: Amelia is a name perfectly suited to girls who approach life with a desire to do their best. It means "industrious" or "hardworking," and has a long history as a favored name among royalty. The name is German in origin, derived from the name "Amala." Bones: Norwegian: habitational name from the farm named Bones in the province of Trøndelag. The first element is derived from the river name Bua, from Old Norse búa 'live', perhaps meaning 'river that runs through a settled valley'. The second element is nes 'promontory, headland'. Compare Boness and Bonnes.

When she truly thinks about her namesake that her parents gave her all she can think about is being the best female who is the head of the DMLE, (Department of Magical Law Enforcement.) Yes, she worked hard for where she is today. No, she didn't work hard in the way that Rita Skeeter worked in the prophet for her name to be well known, Sleeping her way to the top. What Amelia did was think about her niece and what type of person she would want to represent as a role model to her niece. Everything she did in life was what she had intentions for Susan.

Every night Amelia would tell the story of the girl who lived to her niece as a bedtime story. Anyone can be just as special as the little baby she knew from Lily and James from school. They all graduated together. Though it was a scary story to tell a little girl for bedtime. She hoped she could inspire Susan to want to be the best, too. Her little lily of the valley would grow up to know right from wrong, light versus dark, yin, and yang. However, she knows it's not always black and white when it comes to situations like this. She knows there's a gray area too in the good versus evil train.

Because she was friends with Lily and James, she could have been one of the ones set to be killed by the death eaters and the dark lord. The dark Lord goes after anyone who has close ties to love, friendship, and family. The reason he went after these people is because he couldn't understand the magnitude of what love is and what good magic can do. That is why he died. They found at the Potter's house that when the explosion went off there were ashes of a person who was there. Ashley, somehow completely stopped Dark Lord. No magic can fix this, He can't be brought back to life. So what she has to do is help the wizarding world fix itself and be more magical for others coming in. Good magic is what Ashley has. Her life and her being there for Susan she has everything in life to be grateful to Ashley for killing you-know-who. It's not a loss on her that she might have to be a bit more grateful to Ashley than most. But getting word that Ashley was being abused by her relatives is what she needs to get the proper authorities involved so they don't do this to someone else. Just the thought of the word abuse, she wouldn't want any child to have faced such circumstances that young Ashley had to face at the age of five. She in her mind is too young to feel jaded by the world. She deserves the help that she gave to everyone else on a day-to-day basis.

Due to her family's magic, she has the power of insight. In the Dursley home, she can see that all of this is cleaned, dusted, organized, and repaired, by a little girl who had no place to be doing something so dangerous at her age. Getting the visions of everything Ashley has done for them with no word of thank you and no words of I love you or gratitude Amelia had to leave the kitchen and stepped outside the back door to see that even the garden was being taken care of by Ashley. Due to Amelia's insightful visions, she can see the reason why she was forced to do everything. The Dursleys wanted more money. They were greedy people. Because the Gringot's key that Dumbledore left, suddenly disappeared they blamed Ashley on a day-to-day basis that she took the key and hid it from them was their thought and reason to be so hurtful to a little girl. Not knowing that the key was magical and could tell when someone wanted to steal from its owner. It goes to the magical guardian for safe keeping til the child gets away from the person who wants to take advantage of them.

"How can anyone be like this to family?" Amelia asks herself. All she wanted to do for her niece was be the best adult she knew and protect her the way her sister and brother would have. They died at the hands of the dark lord many years ago. But Susan knows what love is. She gives that love to her niece every day. Suddenly a scene comes unto Amelia through her insightful visions, she sees Ashley at the age of 3 and the male of the house gives her a cup of something that makes the little girl feel sick and tells her that the reason she has to drink this is because she is taking from them. So this is punishment. In the cup is a liquid that muggle's doctors use for people who have (IBS) a laxative. in the magical world, this would be a form of potion to help people, but this is used in a way to is degrading, and harmful to the body. It's no wonder that Ashley is so small.

Another scene comes unto Amelia as she enters the hallway where the cupboard under the stairs is. Amelia feels the moment that Ashley gets hit in the head with a metal pan and in the vision when Ashley takes her hand and touches the back of her head she completely sees the blood on her fingers. when she goes into her room there will be blood evidence of what happened. When Amelia gets out of her vision everyone in the house sees that her nose is bleeding. She goes to the dining room and sits at the table as she tries to get the headache to stop. But another vision comes unto her when she sees that the table isn't a table but a dog cage and there is still evidence there that can get the family to go to prison for a long time for abuse, and neglect.

Already calling the authorities to take the Dursleys away she couldn't help but be grateful for her family's magic before coming here. She called everyone important to be here, Arthur Weasley to make sure nothing magical was doing anything to the muggle family, which came out negative. The Dursleys just hate magic period. There's no way of fixing that train of thought even though they are related to magical people. Severus Snape is here because he was Lily's best friend, and also because he will be her guardian of Ashley from now on. The chief warlock is here, as well as the chief of police of little whinging. All she needs to do is get the evidence bottled up and be on her way.
