Ruby woke up the next morning at about 10 o'clock, grateful for the chance to sleep in after the week she and the others had. While it was nice to have fun with the others last night at the club, Ruby wanted to do some training today. The whole week she had been going through files and information trying to locate Torchwick and his accomplices. Nothing that she or the others did was physical or even skill related, and Ruby wanted to make sure that she wasn't getting sloppy.

Sindel had mentioned yesterday that the training facility was available to all of them, considering they kind of were part of the Atlas Military at the moment. Ruby wanted to take advantage of that and the shooting range that Sindel had mentioned. However, none of that was going to get done if she stayed in bed so she reluctantly got up and started getting dressed. Luckily, she was only going to the gym, so she did need to worry about her hair or put on any makeup.

As she was brushing her teeth, Ruby went through the texts that she had missed from the time she got back to the hotel up to this moment. A few were from Cana and Erza, showing the many pictures that the girls took last night. Ruby was feeling herself a bit because she and her friends looked gorgeous, she was sure that the guys in the club kept looking at them. Ruby had thought about getting a social media page but decided against it. She really did not want a lot of people knowing her business and she could always just text her friends.

Some of the other texts were from her team and Tai and her Dad, all of whom she did not really want to speak to, well except her Dad. Ruby knew what was coming in the following week, she would have to go back to Beacon until she was called by Sindel again. Ruby had to admit, she was grateful for this opportunity to learn from Sindel and Litchi, as well as make some new friends. There was no reason for her to talk to her team or team JNPR, especially after what happened, but when she returned she knew that they were going to push her to talk to them. Well, they would try at least.

Ruby wasn't stupid, she knew that the girls were now aware that she had heard them that night. Knowing her team, Ruby would not be surprised if the girls had stormed to Professor Goodwitch's office and stayed there until she told them what was going on. The poor woman, as if she didn't have enough stress on her plate, Ruby felt bad for making Goodwitch go through that. Back to her team though, she knew they were going to apologize and want Ruby to forgive them. How interesting that when she found out it was a problem, but the months they had neglected her before then it was no problem at all.

Ruby knew that she wasn't going to forgive them when she got back, but even if she somehow did forgive them down the line, she knew that things between them would never be the same. She also was unaware if she would be able to suppress her emotions when she saw her team again, considering she had something to say to all three. If Ruby was being completely honest she hadn't thought much of Team JNPR, in fact it was nice getting away from Nora's craziness and Jaune's dorkiness as she liked to call it.

Pushing the thoughts of her team in the back of her mind, Ruby opened up the group chat that her unit had and told everyone that she was going to the training facility and asked if anyone wanted to join her. After a few minutes Akali and Mira texted her back, saying that they thought it was a great idea and would get ready and join her. None of the others texted back so Ruby guessed they were either still sleeping or doing something else.

Ruby got her things and went down to the lobby to wait for Mira and Akali. She grabbed a water bottle that was complementary from the hotel just in case the facility was out or something. While waiting for the girls Ruby was making a to-do list for when she got back to Beacon. The first thing to do was figure out what work she had to make up, even though she was completely dreading it. Then she wanted to visit the armory because she had an idea for Crescent Rose to add a dust function. Ruby noticed Akali and Mira walking up to her with smiles on their faces and they are in workout clothes.

"Yo Rose, great idea to head to the training facility. After a week of going through files and sitting at a desk all day we really need some exercise." Akali said with praise and Ruby just smiled.

"Yeah, feel like we need to keep our skills in check, especially when we don't know when things are truly going to pop off. So, what are you ladies going to do today?" Ruby asked.

"Me and Akali are going to work out and then work on our close combat skills." Mira said enthusiastically pumping a fist and Ruby laughed.

"I am going to work out and probably do the shooting range, gotta make sure my aim is still true. It's so cool that you guys are good at close combat, I suck at it." Ruby said while chuckling a bit.

"Well lucky for you, you're gonna get better today!" Akali said happily and Mira nodded.

"Wait, what do you mean?" Ruby asked confused but Akali wrapped an arm around her.

"We are in a unit now Ruby, that means all of us have to be at our best at all times. So, if you say that you need to improve on hand-to-hand combat, naturally Mira and I are going to teach you how to improve. Not only that, but you are going to check out are weapons and tell us what upgrades we should make, don't act like you weren't gazing at them as we were getting ready for the mine mission. We are a team Rose, so we gotta help each other." Akali said with a smile and Ruby smiled back, even though she was kind of embarrassed that they saw her gazing at their weapons.

"Yeah you are right, thanks you two. Now then, let's go get some training in!" Ruby said happily and the other two nodded with enthusiasm.

As they got on the shuttle to the training facility, Ruby thought about what just happened, and she felt blessed to make the new friends that she had. Her mind went back to when her so-called 'friends' berated her about her lack of hand-to-hand combat, and they didn't offer any help to her. Yet she had met Mira and Akali a week ago and they didn't flinch to offer. It should the difference between the groups and why she and the others were invited to be a part of this unit. Egos be damned, the only thing that mattered was your will to do what is right and protect the people in need. That is the definition of being a hunter, and the intelligence unit all had it in them.

When they got to the training facility, the girls marveled at how it literally had everything they needed. There were exercise machines that were used for running, aerobics and weights. There was also an area covered with mats so people could practice combat and the shooting range was a virtual experience so they could fit it inside. Everything was pretty much perfect, except for the fact that they were not the only ones there.

There was a group of five exercising in the training facility, and the girls could tell that they were very skilled. There was a man with brown hair, a rabbit faunus that was doing laps across the facility at lightning speed, a pale man that was meditating, a dog faunus that was drinking some water and a buff woman who was benching like her life depended on it. The girls could tell that these five were really high up in the Atlas military and that they were looking right at them.

"Oh hello, can we help you young ladies with something?" The brown-haired man asked, and the girls got out of their stupor.

"Oh yes, my name is Mirajane Strauss, and this is Ruby Rose and Akali Ionia, we are with the Intelligence Unit. We were told that we could use this training room as well?" Mira said a bit unsure, but that uncertainty went away when the man smiled.

"Ah so you are the new unit we have heard about; it is very nice to meet all of you. My name is Clover Ebi, this is Harriet Bee, Marrow Amin, Elm Ederne and Vine Zeki. We are the Ace Operatives of the Atlas Military, but we go just go by the Ace Ops. As for the training facility of course you can use it, and lucky for you kids we are just about done here." The man now known as Clover said with a smile.

"We heard about the job you kids did at the mine, very well done and I'm excited to see what you kids can really do." Harriet said with a smirk and Vine sighed.

"Not everything is a competition Hare." Vine said and Harriet just pouted.

"You kids must be strong to be invited to join an Atlas unit! We heard how easily you all handled the grimm at the mine, you will have to join us on a mission sometime!" Elm said with praise and the girls smiled but their smiles turned into frowns with what Marrow said next.

"Yeah but you all are just kids, that mine mission was supposed to be our mission. Why did he give it to you all?" Marrow asked annoyed.

"You'll have to ask him." Akali responded as she glared at the dog faunus, the other girls did the same and Ruby walked to the shooting range.

"Oh I will, don't you worry because having you kids out here is dangerous. Also, why does a group of kids get their own unit? You haven't even graduated-" Marrow kept ranting but was interrupted by Ruby.

"You are Marrow right?" Ruby asked and they all looked at her confused.

"Yeah why?" Marrow asked and Ruby just pointed at the Virtual Shooting Range screen that showed Marrow's name and that he had the top score.

"Observe." Ruby commanded and she hit the start button on the shooting range.

The targets started appearing on the screen and Ruby hit them all in the bull's eye. She wasn't doing this with Crescent Rose, the shooting range had model guns for you to choose from, but it didn't matter to Ruby. She just kept firing and hitting the bullseye every single time she fired, and she took time to reload but it was like second nature for her. Ruby had used every single model gun that the range had provided, it didn't matter because she hit the bullseye with each one.

While Ruby was killing it at the shooting range, the group behind her could not help but marvel at the sight they were seeing. For the Ace Ops, they were amazed by this girl's precision and even more amazed by the fact that she was so young. They were the most elite huntsman in Atlas, and they didn't even have that kind of skill and it was so useful to have. They immediately understood why Sindel wanted her for the intelligence unit. As for Akali and Mira, they just sat back with smirks on their faces seeing the shock that the Ace Ops were displaying. Even though she didn't like to brag, the girls knew Ruby was that good and were impressed that she used actions instead of words to prove Marrow wrong.

Once Ruby hit the bullseye on the last target, the screen showed that she had gotten the highest score that anyone ever had at the shooting range. If she were being honest, Ruby was relieved to know that her skill had not diminished from having a week full of looking at files and nothing combat related. She was also feeling herself a bit, considering she made Marrow choke on his words and left the other Ace Ops astounded. After taking a picture of her high score, Ruby walked back to the others with a smile on her face.

"Does that answer your question Marrow?" Ruby asked innocently as Mira went to Ruby's left side with her hands on her hips and Akali went to Ruby's right side with her arms crossed, both had smirks on their faces.

"Uh yeah, it does…" Marrow said in an embarrassed tone and Elm laughed heartily.

"I like these kids!" Elm said in approval and Harriet nodded.

"I see why you girls were selected; I like the way you three carry yourselves. Sindel is lucky to have you all, especially you Red you're one bad bitch." Harriet said with a smirk and Ruby smirked back.

"Language Hare." Vine chastised but Ruby just waved him off.

"No offense taken, thanks." Ruby said with a smile.

"As fun as that was to watch, it is time for us to go as we need to check in with the General about some things. Hopefully we get a chance to get you kids on a mission with us, your skills would certainly be appreciated. Until next time!" Clover said as the Ace Ops bid them farewell, while Marrow was looking a bit salty.

Once they left, the girls of the intelligence unit gave each other high fives and did the happy dance. Akali and Mira had to admit that they were proud and happy for what Ruby did, considering that Marrow's badgering was getting on their nerves. Rather than tell him off, Ruby quietly went to the shooting range and showed Marrow firsthand why his assumptions were wrong. That was what a huntress was supposed to do, use actions and not words.

"Good job, Ruby! You sure showed that guy who's boss!" Mira said cheerily.

"Yeah Rose, way to silence him with your skills! Like that Harriet girl said, you're one bad bitch!" Akali praised with a smile and Ruby smiled back.

"Yeah just like every other girl in the Intelligence Unit! Now that they are gone though I think it is time we exercise like we planned to. We don't want to waste the day away." Ruby said and the other two nodded.

The girls then began their respective exercises, Ruby was on the elliptical because she needed to do better in terms of her stamina. Not only that, the faster her legs were then the more efficient her semblance would be. Mira was focused on doing weight training as she was a close combat fighter and had a semblance that literally turned her into a demon. Akali was busy doing stretches and a bit of yoga, since her fighting style required her to be as flexible as she could possibly be. Akali was basically a ninja, her invisibility semblance and stealth skills make an unseen danger for enemies.

Once the girls rotated their exercises and finished up, Akali and Mira laid the mats down and told Ruby it was time for her first close combat lesson. Ruby was excited because she knew that she had to get good at close combat one of these days, and she figured these two would be better teachers than Yang. Mira and Akali were calm individuals whereas Yang…well she didn't get the nickname firecracker for nothing. The girls got on the mats and Ruby stood there attentive to her friends' advice.

"Ok Ruby, first thing that we should do is practice your punches, this is an easy beginners lesson. Keep your stance at a good balance and then punch using both your fists. Don't just go through the motions though, make sure you put everything into your punches. Let's begin!" Mira said and Ruby nodded as the three girls went through the motions together.

Ruby had to admit, even though this kind of thing was foreign to her she thought that she was getting the hang of it quite easily. Though this was a pretty basic exercise, Ruby understood it's importance because throwing weak punches would be no help at all. The whole point in Ruby learning close combat was to help her fighting style and give her some more options in the case that somehow she lost her weapon. The girls did the exercise for a few minutes and then Akali decided to change it up.

"Good work Ruby remember that you can do those exercises at home too not just in the gym. Let's work on your defense before we call it a day. Now, I want you to try to hit me and I will show how to dodge and ultimately take down your opponent. So, come at me!" Akali said with a grin and Ruby did just that.

Ruby charged at Akali and her friend dodged effortlessly to each attack that Ruby tried to make. Akali told her to not lose focus and get frustrated, otherwise an enemy would take advantage and kill you on the spot. Akali also instructed Ruby to keep her eye on the enemy, predicting one's movements was the key to close combat. It was what Akali was doing now, she was dodging Ruby by reading her movements and acting accordingly.

"Ok Ruby, this is really important. When someone attacks you directly, plant one foot on the ground hard so you can use it to pivot and dodge. Then grab their wrist and their back at the same time and then you take them to the ground. See how I did that? Simple right?" Akali asked as she demonstrated the take down on Ruby.

"Yeah, thanks Akali." Ruby muttered with her face on the mat and Akali and Mira just laughed as Akali pulled her up.

"Don't worry, you will get the hang of it soon enough. Let's try it a few more times." Akali said and Ruby nodded enthusiastically.

The girls kept it at for a little while and then ended their training session. Ruby was very grateful for the lesson that Akali and Mira gave her. Seeing as though she never got any guidance from her blonde cousin, but she did get ridiculed by her lack of combat experience. It was nice to have friends who wanted to help one another, not just keep things to themselves. While it was a shame that the rest of the crew didn't come, it was still nice to have some bonding time that was not at a club.

"Hey, I really appreciate this girls, I really thought that hand-to-hand combat was something that I wasn't going to learn. Everyone at Beacon pretty much gave up on me, sad huh?" Ruby said sheepishly while scratching her head and her two friends gave her reassuring smiles.

"Look Ruby, it seems like you have had it rough at Beacon so far and while we can't really control that, we can assure you that as one team we will help each other. So, whether it is you giving us weapons advice, us helping you with your close combat, or even Jago giving us advice on how to stay calm, we all want to help each other excel. All of us here know that being in this unit is not a game, it's a privilege and we have to earn our spots here. That's why each of us has to be at the top of our game and continue learning." Mira said with a smile and Akali nodded, to which Ruby smiled back.

"I agree, speaking of which show me your weapons so I can look them over." Ruby said and the girls did as she commanded.

Akali and Mira handed Ruby their weapons for her to look over and Ruby was honestly impressed with the girls' weapon choices. Akali used twin kamas that were very light and easy for mobility, given the fact that she was basically an assassin. Ruby did have some ideas that would help Akali though, maybe some tranquilizers or adding a silencer to the gun part of her Kamas, so they wouldn't make a sound. As for Mira, she had these cool claw weapons that also used dust and Ruby didn't really know how she could make an upgrade. The only advice she had for Mira was to keep the blades in check because they looked rusty.

"OK you two I have some advice. Akali you should think about adding some tranquilizers or giving your kamas a silencer for each one. The loud sound of your bullets shooting from your weapons makes your stealth go out the door. Mira I don't really have any upgrade tips for your claws but make sure that you keep them clean and sharp, so they do not rust ok? Last thing we need is for you to go up against an enemy and your claws shatter." Ruby told both of them and they nodded seriously and thanked Ruby.

The girls then went back to their hotel to shower and clean up from their exercising. When they got to the hotel they saw the rest of their unit in the lobby just hanging out. Shauna was mad that the girls didn't wake her up so that she could go with them, but Ruby and the others just laughed it off and apologized. Jago said told the girls to go get the smell off of them so they all could go get food, and the girls stuck their tongues out at him, but they did as they were told. Ruby gave Seth a quick kiss and then joined the other two girls in getting the elevator.

Once Ruby got to her room, she immediately got out of her sweaty clothes and got into the shower to let the water heal her body. Ruby called that training session a success in her mind, because she got to be active for the first time this week and she learned some new things. Ruby was already thinking about how to evolve the lesson she got from Mira and Akali into her fighting style. She used close combat with her pistols against Pyrrha a couple of weeks ago, maybe she could go over that fight again and see how she could improve. After a few minutes of washing herself off, Ruby got out of the shower and went to her closet.

Since they weren't going clubbing or anything like that, so she didn't need to break out her really nice clothes. Given that fact, Ruby put on a pair of jeans and one of her graphic t-shirts along with her boots and went downstairs to meet up with the others. While she was walking she was answering a couple of texts, one was for Cana as her friend asked for an opinion on an outfit she was wearing for a date tonight. The other one was from her Dad, asking if everything was going alright and she responded with yes and told him not to worry too much.

Ruby got back to the lobby where her friends were waiting and then Mira and Akali got down soon after she did. The group decided to go get food at a nearby restaurant that Sin had saw the other day and he told them that they had all kinds of food. When they got there, they ordered their food and started chatting amongst themselves. Some of them were still mad about Ruby and the others not waking them up for some training but they were mostly mad at themselves.

Bakugo was complaining about how he was already receiving emails from his teachers at Shade about the work he would have to make up and the others groaned at that statement. It was something that none of them wanted to think about, the fact that they were missing school even though this unit was an incredible opportunity. Ruby especially didn't want to think about the schoolwork that she was missing, considering Goodwitch, Port and Oobleck were seemingly kicking things into overdrive.

After the group finished their meal they headed back to the hotel to get some relaxation time in. They decided that they would probably not go out tonight as they would just hang out and relax in one of the rooms. The hilarious thing was that most of the group were in a food coma because they ate so much at that restaurant, so they went to go take naps. Ruby invited Seth back to her room so that they could chill and just enjoy each other's company, to which Seth happily accepted.

Ruby and Seth were just lying on her bed watching TV, but it really did not matter what was on the TV. The couple was too busy making out to worry about what they were watching, they really wanted to enjoy their alone time. Ruby felt like she was starting to get the hang of this, but it was still new to her, she wasn't really an expert on the relationship thing. Hell, the only real experience she had was comforting Yang when she got dumped or rejected. Though considering Ruby and Seth had been a thing for a week, which was longer than any of Yang's relationships, Ruby felt like she was doing something right.

Their make out session sadly ended when Seth had dozed off, clearly feeling it from the food coma. Ruby just shook her head in amusement considering that Seth had already slept to 11 AM and needed more sleep. She was thankful that all she had was a chicken salad and was not suffering from the food coma like her boyfriend or her other friends. Leaning into Seth, Ruby took out her scroll and took a picture of them, certainly to make fun of him later. Then she began reading a weapon magazine as Seth took a brief nap.

A couple hours later Ruby got a text from Sin that he sent in their group chat, which woke Seth up at the sound of the notification. He suggested that they all hang out tonight in the media room that they had their first meeting with Sindel and Litchi in. He talked with the concierge and he said it was fine for them to use it. They could order food, play some games, watch a movie, and just chill. Everyone agreed because they didn't really feel like getting dressed and going out again.

Soon after that the Intelligence Unit met up in the media room just like Sin had requested and began to hang out. Mira had found some board games and they all ordered room service when they got hungry. Given her somewhat tomboyish nature, Ruby was in a video game war with Bakugo and Sin beating the crap out of them in a fighting game. After winning rematch after rematch, Ruby stood victorious with Seth yelling how awesome his girlfriend was while Bakugo and Sin held their heads in shame.

The group ordered pizza from room service and were eating while telling funny stories about what happened in their lives. One of the funniest had to be from Mira when she told them how her brother Elfman tried to show this girl how much of a man he was and ended getting chased by a Beowulf. The second funniest was how Jago screwed up making a cake and ended up having dough all over his family's kitchen. Ruby told them how her team and Team JNPR had a food fight in Beacon's cafeteria which everyone thought was cool.

The group decided to play some board games after that to which Ruby continued her win streak and Shauna won some as well. Everyone else was salty at both girls' reign but they basked in their glory and rubbed salt in their friends' wounds. Shauna pulled out her scroll and took a picture with Ruby, then uploaded it to her social media page with a caption that said, "Boss Girls". The crew hung out for a little while longer until it got late, and they all went to bed. Ruby kissed Seth goodnight before she went with the girls back to their floor and got in bed.

The next morning, Ruby was not woken up by her own fruition like other mornings on the weekend, but by a loud knocking on her door. Not only that, but she could also hear knockings on Shauna and Akali's door, was something up? Ruby feared that something happened and that they were called in for assistance. Not wanting to speculate anymore, Ruby got out of bed and went out the door to find Akali and Shauna in a groggy state, but Mira had a smile on her face.

"Mira, what's going on? Were you the one knocking on the doors and ultimately waking us up?" Ruby asked tiredly.

"Yep, that was me! Check your bank accounts ladies." Mira said happily and the girls looked confused.

"Mira what do our bank accounts have to do with you waking us up- HOLY CRAP!" Akali yelled as her eyes grew to the size of saucers as she saw her bank account.

Curious at their friend's exclamation, Ruby and Shauna pulled out their scrolls and signed into their bank accounts and then had the same reaction as Akali. In their bank accounts was a $2000 lien deposit that was issued by the Atlas military. Ruby was mind boggled but then she remembered that Sindel said that they would indeed be paid for their services, she must have given it to them early since they were likely going back on Friday. But 2000 lien?! Ruby had so much stuff she could buy with that, it was unbelievable!

"Th-this is how much we get paid for doing this?! This is kind of overwhelming…" Shauna said honestly and Ruby nodded.

"I agree with you Shauna, I said before that the experience we get is enough but now this? This is so generous that I do not know if I can accept it." Ruby said.

"Guys, we have earned it and Sindel and Litchi think so too! Otherwise, we would not have been paid at all, this is not a courtesy this is a reward so be happy! More importantly, you know what we have to do now right? Shopping!" Mira cheered and the other three just chuckled.

"It would be nice to spend some of this, I've been wanting some expensive stuff." Akali said honestly.

"But the question never got answered, Mira why did you pound on our doors and wake us up instead of just texting us?" Ruby asked annoyed and Mira stuck her tongue out at her.

"I was excited, leave me alone! Anyway, just get dressed so we can go!" Mira commanded and the girls stuck their tongues out at her but did as they were told.

After freshening up and getting dressed, the girls walked out of the hotel and went to the mall. They didn't bother telling the boys where they were going, as they made it clear that shopping with the girls was another version of hell in their eyes. Ruby thought about what she would spend her money on and part of her still couldn't believe she was thinking about clothes. She thought it was a sign of her growing up because before Beacon she could care less about the clothes she wore, especially because she just wore her combat outfit. Now, she cared a lot more about her appearance, especially now because she went out and stuff.

The group of girls got to the mall and it was quite busy for a Sunday, but it didn't matter because the girls were excited to use their reward. There were so many options to choose from though and the mall was massive, they would be here a while. Considering that they were in a unit now and had support from the military, they didn't really need to be anything huntress wise. That being said, they still wondered what they were going to buy and how much they were going to get.

"So, what are you ladies gonna shop for?" Mira asked.

"I don't really know, there are so many options…" Akali said in awe.

"Yeah, I may just window shop and save the money for la- NOPE I want those boots!" Ruby said as she dashed in a shoe store and the girls just laughed.

Ruby found a pair of black leather boots which were kind of pricy, but it didn't matter because she just got paid. These boots were casual and not used for combat, which was perfect for when she went on dates with Seth or went to parties. Luckily the store had her size and Ruby tried them on and they were so comfortable she had to get them. The clerk said she had great style to which her friends agreed, and Ruby paid for them, it took $500 out of her $2000. When she exited the store, she saw her friends looking at her with smirks on their faces.

"Don't judge me." Ruby said annoyed and her friends just laughed.

For the next hour the girls had gone to many stores and purchased a number of items, some expensive and others were cheap. Mira got an expensive purse that she really wanted, insisting that it was crucial for her to get much to the others amusement. Shauna got a few tops that were really stunning but expensive at the same time. Akali got two leather jackets, one black and the other brown, as well as some new shoes. Ruby and Mira also got some new jewelry, as Ruby wanted another necklace and two more rings.

"Isn't spending money so much fun?" Mira asked cheerily which caused the other girls to roll their eyes.

"If this becomes a habit for any of us then I am blaming you Mira." Shauna said and Ruby and Akali nodded but Mira just stuck her tongue out at them.

"Complain all you want; you know you all are having fun." Mira said snarkily and the girls stuck their tongues out at Mira. Just then a scroll starting ringing and the girls all looked at their scrolls.

"It's me." Ruby acknowledged as she took it out of her pocket.

"Probably Seth wanting to know where his woman is." Akali teased with a smirk and the other two smiled.

"It's Sindel…" Ruby said shocked and the other three widened their eyes while Ruby answered it.

"Detective Rose." Ruby answered in a serious voice.

"Ruby, sorry to call you on your day off but something has come up. I need you all to meet me at this address, I will arrange a shuttle to get you there. Are you all at the hotel right now?" Sindel asked.

"Me and the girls are at the mall, but we can be back in about ten minutes. The boys are at the hotel though, we will tell them the message, do you need us in our combat gear?" Ruby asked curiously.

"Yes that would be for the best since you all need to look like hunters. Please get back as soon as you can, I will arrange the shuttle to bring you all to the location and I will tell you more when you get here." Sindel said and Ruby nodded.

"Yes ma'am, heading back now." Ruby said seriously as she ended the call and her friends looked worried.

"What's going on Ruby?" Akali asked.

"I don't know but Sindel needs us for something, it sounded serious by the tone of her voice. Mira text the guys to get their combat gear on, the shuttle will be there to take us to a certain location. We need to get back as soon as possible, come on let's go!" Ruby commanded and the others nodded and went back to the hotel.

After about ten minutes the girls got back to the hotel and rushed to their floor so they could put their things away and get combat ready. They ran into the boys in the lobby, but they told them they had no time to talk and needed to get ready ASAP. Once the girls had put their stuff away and got their combat gear on, they went back down to the lobby to see Sin be the only guy there. He saw the girls and ushered them to the shuttle that had gotten there a few minutes before.

While on the shuttle the Intelligence Unit had their game faces on, but they had many thoughts running through their minds. Why did Sindel need them for today? Something bad must have happened but what? And if something bad did happen why were they being called in instead of the higher ups or the Ace Ops? There were so many questions, but they would be answered soon enough, so the group just decided to stay calm.

The shuttle stopped and the group got off to see that they were at a crime scene and there were multiple Atlesian Soldiers around. There was yellow tape everywhere and General Ironwood was their giving orders, it made for a pretty intense vibe. The group then saw Sindel and Litchi looking at something and Jago called out to them. The two women turned to see their unit and walked over to them so they could brief them.

"Thank you all for being so attentive and coming at such a short notice. Before I brief you, I need to know that everyone is ok with seeing a corpse. I know you are my unit, but you are still just students and I am not going to push you to this level. If anyone has worries or concerns, then you do not have to see it and you can all go back. There is no shame." Sindel said seriously and Litchi nodded.

The group of students' eyes were wide like fish. Seeing a corpse? What was going on? This creeped all of them out, but they didn't want to let Sindel or Litchi down? Plus, they were all aiming to become huntsman and huntresses. They were going to have to see the horrors of the world one of these days, it might as well be today so that they could get it over with. Also, how could they make the world a better place if death was enough to scare them?

"I think I speak for everyone Sindel when I say that we want to help however we can. Sure, seeing a corpse is something that I never wanted to do but knew I would have to one day since I want to be a huntsman. I'm sure everyone feels the same." Bakugo said honestly and the whole group nodded.

"I see, I am proud and honored to have you all as my unit. Now, let us begin." Sindel said as she motioned for the group to follow her and they did.

The group walked over to the part of the crime scene that had a body bag in it. One of the soldiers asked why kids were here but Sindel let them know that they were the Intelligence Unit and the students all pulled out their badges on their scrolls. Litchi then motioned for the soldier to uncover the body and he did a bit hesitantly. The student's eyes widened to see a man with dreadlocks, black skin, and a beard with piercings to top it all off.

"Oh my God, that's Dexter Deshawn!" Shauna said with a hand over her mouth and the others gasped.

"Wh-what the hell happened to him?" Ruby asked freaked out.

"That's what we need to find out…" Sindel said seriously and the Intelligence Unit's next assignment was received.

Author Notes:

Sorry this took so long, was busy with Persona 5 Strikers which is such a good game go get it. Yo, to the Harvard Professors in my comments writing full paragraphs about how much they don't like this story, you don't have to read it lol. Clearly you care about this shit way more than I do, and to those who still like the story, glad you like it. Also, to those complaining about Ruby's behavior not being canon, yeah it's not canon this is a fanfiction, meaning it is not real lol. As for RWBY Volume 8 news, I KNOW y'all saw Winter use judgment cut on Ironwood, SSS rank. It sucks though cuz it seems Pyrrha will stay dead since the Relic of Creation can't bring back the dead. As for gaming, looking forward to the new Pokemon Snap and Returnal. I'm on the fence about Nier Replicant, that shit is looking too anime lol. Anyway, Ruby had a relaxing weekend until shit got real all of a sudden. What happened to Dexter Deshawn? Find out next time, like and review!
