It was just another day in Atlas and Special Agent Sindel Diamond was currently at her desk, going through files on her computer along with her partner and good friend Litchi Faye Ling. Both women were a bit frustrated that they still could not find any information on the suspects in their case. There was absolutely no information on Cinder Fall, Emerald Sustrai, or Mercury Black in any kind of database. It was like three ghosts just came together and started to cause havoc.
If that wasn't bad enough, they still had no idea who that red haired faunus from the White Fang was. The only thing that they knew about him was that he was dangerous, and he clearly had a temper, they both wondered what his role in the White Fang truly was. Things were quiet now but both women knew that it would not stay like that for long and needed information as soon as possible. They were just glad that their husbands were at work and their kids were at school, so they didn't infect any of them with their frustration.
It was true that Sindel and Litchi that had spouses and children, even though their jobs had taken up much of their time they still vowed to take some time to be with them. Sindel had two girls, Kitana and Kasane who were 9 and 7 respectfully, and her husband worked in Atlas' Energy department supporting the heating grid. Litchi had two boys who were twins, Reiko and Yone, and they were ten years old. Litchi's husband worked as a businessman at one of the most profitable companies in Atlas, thankfully it was not the Schnee Dust Company.
Their kids were so young yet all of them said that they wanted to become hunters or join the military so they could kick butt like their moms. Sindel and Litchi were delighted to hear that much to their husband's disappointment and chagrin, even though that could change when they got older. Seeing as though Sindel and Litchi were good friends, the families interacted a lot, usually the boys would argue with the girls about what gender was stronger than the other. Since their jobs were so serious, it was fun for Sindel and Litchi to see their kids argue over nonsense.
Speaking of kids, both Sindel and Litchi could not deny that it had gotten quieter now that the students were all back at their respective academies. Both women missed their student detectives, they were very helpful and a pleasure to be around. Sindel and Litchi were proud to have them as part of their unit, considering that a simple mission turned out to be a critical one and yet none of the students showed any fear.
It really let Sindel know that she had chosen the right people for the Intelligence Unit, seeing as though none of the students did it for status or popularity, they wanted to keep Remnant safe. It was what all hunters should strive to do, and the students were doing exactly that and Sindel had no doubt they would all make great hunters. She wasn't worried about most of her unit going back, considering that they were just going back to normal life, but she was worried about Ruby Rose.
Sindel hated putting all that pressure and responsibility on the girl, especially since she was a first year, but she knew that Ruby could handle it. Given her determination and fighting skills Sindel had no doubt that Ruby would get the information that they needed about that Haven group. The only worry that Sindel had was how Ruby was going to keep her cover in relations to Professor Ozpin, Professor Goodwitch and most importantly her team.
She knew that Professor Ozpin and Glynda Goodwitch likely would not notice given the fact that they were the heads of the school and had a lot going in their lives. Ruby's team was a different story though, from what she read in their files Sindel knew that Ruby keeping the mission a secret from them was going to be challenging. If she was being perfectly honest, the only team that Sindel had concerns about when it came to her detectives was Ruby's, everyone else's team seemed fine.
When you look at who is on Ruby's team, one could tell that keeping something a secret for however long period of time could be difficult. First there was Weiss Schnee, who Sindel knew for a fact was just like her sister and was very entitled, seeing as though she was the heiress to the SDC. Then there was Blake Belladonna, the daughter of the former leader of the White Fang and apparently very impatient considering that Ruby told her that Blake dragged them into some sticky situations. Finally, there was Yang Xiao Long who clearly had an anger problem if that dance club incident was anything to go by.
The girls were very skilled that much was clear, but their attitudes and personalities would make it hard for Ruby to investigate in private. Once they figure out that she is hiding something, Sindel had no doubt that Ruby's team would try and pressure her into telling them what was going on. If that happened, Sindel was very sure that Ruby's teammates would do something reckless to that group from Haven and they would disappear, which couldn't happen or else they were all screwed.
Ruby didn't seem like the type to let people walk over her though, if she was in the past then she certainly wasn't now. Though Sindel had to wonder what exactly happened between Ruby and her team, she knew that something had to have gone down considering Ruby got irritated whenever her team was mentioned. Ruby told Sindel that she had enough of their opinions about her and started focusing on herself, did they badmouth her or something? If Sindel was being quite honest those girls should really worry about improving themselves, especially after she saw them on video. Sindel was brought out of her thoughts by Litchi's voice.
"Pretty quiet here without the kiddos huh?" Litchi asked her friend with a smile and Sindel smiled back.
"Yeah, it's only been a week and I already miss them. I wonder if they enjoy being here or being at school more?" Sindel questioned and Litchi just laughed.
"Is that a joke? Of course they like it here more, we don't give them homework!" Litchi exclaimed and Sindel laughed.
"That is very true, I can only imagine the large amount of make-up work that they all have to do. Poor Mira and Jago, third year work is the worse and make up work sounds horrible enough. Though I have to admit, I am a bit worried about Ruby and having her keep tabs on that Haven team. I know that she is determined but I really don't want her to burn herself out." Sindel said honestly.
"Don't worry Sindel, you know that Ruby will give us what we want, that girl is so determined to be a huntress and I don't think anything is going to stop her. Hell, if Winter's criticism didn't put a dent in her path then nothing will." Litchi said with laughter and Sindel laughed as well.
"You make a very good point Litchi, oh speak of the devil Ruby is calling." Sindel said in shock as she picked up her ringing scroll and put it on speaker.
"Hello Ruby, you are on speaker and Litchi is with me too, is everything alright?" Sindel asked.
"Yes ma'am I am fine, but something really weird just happened. Are you both familiar with Pyrrha Nikos?" Ruby asked curiously.
"That tournament champion from Mistral? Of course we know her, what about her?" Litchi asked a bit curious.
"She and Mercury Black just had a sparring match in Professor Goodwitch's class." Ruby informed her superiors and they both widened their eyes.
"What, is she alright?" Sindel asked a bit worried.
"Don't worry she's fine, she won the match. Mercury Black was holding back by a lot, and he forfeited the match after a couple of minutes when Pyrrha got on the offensive. Sindel, Litchi, that guy wasn't fighting Pyrrha, he was studying her, and I doubt it was for the Vytal Festival. Whatever that group is planning Pyrrha is apart of that plan somehow, we may be running out of time." Ruby said with worry and her superiors were worried as well.
Sindel and Litchi were of course familiar with Pyrrha Nikos, the girl was incredibly talented given the fact that she was multi-tournament champion. She was also incredibly kind and sweet as well, something that was the opposite of what people in her status would usually be. Sindel did have the idea of recruiting Pyrrha Nikos for their unit but found that she already had enough close combat fighters, and she didn't really need the media coming up to Pyrrha every time she was on an assignment.
The question was what exactly did that group want with Pyrrha Nikos and why was Mercury Black studying her? The evidence in this case showed that the group from Haven along with Roman Torchwick and the White Fang were planning to do something to Remnant, probably Beacon. So where does Pyrrha Nikos fit in all of this? It's true that the girl was a tournament champion, but she was so sweet and kind that no one would want to do anything bad to her. Did they think that she was the strongest of the students at Beacon and wanted to know how she fought? Why would they need to fight her at all?
"This is troubling news, especially given the fact that Pyrrha Nikos is such a staple in the Hunter world that if something happened to her chaos would ensue. Ruby, is there anything else you needed to report?" Sindel asked and Ruby sighed.
"Yes, Mercury Black fights with his boots that have bullets in them, he is a bit of the brawler type. Also, after the match was over Professor Goodwitch glared at Mercury Black in a suspicious way, I think she is starting to have some doubts on that team. It's gonna be harder and harder to keep this a secret from them, especially given how critical Professor Ozpin and Professor Goodwitch can be." Ruby said honestly.
"That is a good point, this can't go on forever maybe we should tell the General what we found and ask for his opinion on what we should do next." Litchi said and Sindel nodded.
"I agree, here is what I think we should do, Ruby you continue to keep tabs on that group for the next couple of weeks and tell us if there are any changes. If that group slips up then we have a chance to bring them in and find out more about what they are planning. Meanwhile we will focus on trying to get more information on this group, no matter how hard it may be. Also make sure that Miss Nikos stays safe alright? I have heard that she can be quite competitive so make sure she doesn't get tricked like that again." Sindel ordered.
"Understood Ma'am, good luck." Ruby said with positivity.
"You too Ruby, let us know if you need anything, goodbye." Sindel said as she hung up.
"Well, things around here are starting to heat up." Litchi said with a chuckle.
"Yes, for the worst if we don't find out what these people are up too and soon. Come on, let's go tell General Ironwood what Ruby told us, maybe he will have some thoughts." Sindel said as she got up and went with Litchi out the door to General Ironwood's office.
BACK AT BEACON ACADEMY
Ruby hung up after talking with her superiors on what just happened, wondering on how to go about things from here. She didn't know why Mercury Black was studying Pyrrha in that combat class, but she knew that whatever the reason was it wasn't good. While it was true that Ruby and Pyrrha were not on good terms at the moment and probably would not be for a while, that did not mean that Ruby wanted anything bad to happen to Pyrrha. She would keep Pyrrha safe, no matter how much she was angry at her or the others for that matter.
The biggest question that Ruby had was how much longer could she keep this mission a secret? Her teammates and Team JNPR were giving her space thankfully, but the more time that went on Ruby knew that wasn't going to be the case. It was bad enough that she dealt with Yang's nosy behavior over the years and now she had 6 more people in her life that had that attribute. She also knew that if they found out about her mission then they would do something reckless to that group from Haven.
If they did that and the group from Haven got away and went into hiding then they would all be screwed and left in the dark. Ruby decided that she would have to be extra careful when it came to keeping tabs on the group from Haven and she couldn't slip up. If they captured that group would they really tell General Ironwood and the others what their plans were? Ruby doubted they would at first, but General Ironwood could be really intimidating so you never know.
Ruby walked down from the roof of her dorm where she had the call with Sindel and Litchi and started walking back to her room. What would await her would be the ominous amount of work that she had to do and catch up on at the same time. She was making pretty good headway but there was so much of it and she couldn't always rely on Shauna to help her. Ruby wanted to make sure she was fully understanding the lessons, so she took her time. When Ruby got to her room she saw a certain Blonde outside of her door with a guitar in his hands.
"Jaune?" Ruby asked incredulously.
"Oh, uh hey Ruby." Jaune said nervously.
"What are you doing?" Ruby asked as she narrowed her eyes causing Jaune to gulp.
"Well, uh, I am about to sing to Weiss and ask her to the dance!" Jaune said with confidence that fell when he saw Ruby pinching her nose.
'Ok this has gone on long enough.' Ruby thought in annoyance as she marched up to Jaune and grabbed his shirt.
"Let's go." Ruby said as she dragged Jaune away who was yelping.
"Wait, let me go!" Jaune said as he was scrambling.
"Shut up." Ruby said as she kept dragging him.
'How is she so strong?' Jaune thought in fear.
After dragging Jaune a couple of minutes, Ruby got them both onto the roof where she had her call and ironically where Jaune did his training with Pyrrha unknown to Ruby. If Jaune was being perfectly honest he was pretty nervous about what was going to happen. The Ruby in front of him was so much different than the one he knew, gone was the sweet girl who loved cookies and in was the girl in front of him who looked very intimidating. Jaune also had the conversation he and his team had with Ruby fresh in his mind and was still reeling from it.
"Um, why did you bring me up here?" Jaune asked nervously.
"You faked your way into Beacon." Ruby said simply and Jaune's eyes widened to the size of saucers.
"What?! Wh-what are you talking about, I-I would never-" Jaune scrambled but Ruby interrupted him.
"Jago Gargos is in my unit." Ruby informed Jaune who froze and looked like he was going to pass out.
Jaune knew who Jago Gargos was, they went to the same school and Jaune was always incredibly jealous of him. It wasn't that Jago was a jerk like Cardin or anything like that, it was actually the opposite in that he was friendly and helpful to those around him. Jago was incredibly good at swordsmanship and combat, he was fully ready to take on the huntsman academies unlike Jaune who was never good enough. Jaune hated every day he went to school and saw Jago take part in huntsman classes while he had to do regular work. Jaune then noticed that Ruby began speaking again.
"He was surprised when I told him that you attended Beacon with me, he said that you weren't very good at fighting when you two went to school together. He asked me if you had gotten any better and I told him your improvement was gradual thanks to Pyrrha's training. I also wondered how you got into Beacon even though you seemingly had no knowledge of the huntsman life or any combat skills. I left it alone though because it was none of my business, see how that works?" Ruby asked with a glare and Jaune slumped his shoulders.
"Are you going to rat me out?" Jaune asked in a defeated tone, but Ruby laughed.
"Jaune, do you really think that Professor Ozpin doesn't know about you faking your way in? He is probably the smartest guy on Remnant so there is nothing to you rat you out on." Ruby said while chuckling and Jaune widened his eyes.
"Wait really?! Then why did you call me up here?" Jaune asked curiously but was relieved that he didn't have to worry about Ozpin finding out anymore.
"Because Jaune, I know about the stuff that happened between you and Cardin last semester. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that he had dirt on you and was forcing you to do things for him in exchange for not ratting you out. Instead of asking for help, you wanted to do everything on your own and ensure yourself that you don't need anyone to help you. But really you were lying to yourself and luckily got help at the last possible moment when it came to that Ursa in the forest. Now you are doing the same thing with a certain heiress to the Schnee Dust Company." Ruby informed him and Jaune widened his eyes.
"Wait, what do you mean?" Jaune asked not liking where this was going.
"Jaune, from the day we met you have been trying these stupid pick-up lines with Weiss in attempt to get her to go out with you. Every single time that you do, Weiss has expressed that she is not interested and wants you to leave her alone, but you just keep coming back. You're doing something that is similar to what you did with the Cardin situation, you want to prove that you can get the girl even though she has made it clear she is uninterested. You think you are some bad boy or knight in shining armor, but really what you are being is insensitive and kind of creepy." Ruby said honestly and Jaune looked down.
"Well, maybe she is just playing hard to get!" Jaune argued but froze when he saw Ruby's glare.
"Jaune, no one does that and if they do then you should not want to be with them." Ruby stated seriously and Jaune sighed knowing she was right.
"Look Ruby, I will admit that you have a point, but I am completely head over her heels for Weiss. She won't even give me a chance though and it hurts. I know that she's cold, but she's also incredible. She's smart, and graceful, and talented, I mean have you heard her sing? I know that I may be being excessive, but I just really want her to take me seriously. I wish I could tell her how I feel without messing it all up." Jaune said honestly and Ruby gave him a deadpan look.
"Jaune, name me one time that Weiss has been nice to you?" Ruby asked calmly and Jaune widened his eyes and looked down.
"That's right, she hasn't because she is sick of your attempts to court her, and she doesn't really like you in general. You need to stop living in this dreamworld of yours and start to accept reality, no matter how much you don't want to. When you accept that and take a look at what's right in front of you, your life will be much better, trust me I speak from experience. Hell, you may even find out who really likes you and you will invite her to the dance." Ruby tells him and Jaune looks sad and confused.
"What do you mean?" Jaune asks and Ruby rubs her temples.
"Pyrrha likes you dumbass. For reasons that I and probably God don't even know." Ruby informs the dense idiot in front of her who looked flabbergasted.
"W-what?! Ruby quit messing with me there is no way that is true!" Jaune said in denial as he believed there was no way that Pyrrha liked him of all people.
"Jaune, she helps you with training and homework, she likes being around you, and she didn't try to rat you out to Ozpin. You probably haven't noticed this either, but she gets sad whenever you try and fail to flirt with Weiss. What more do you need?" Ruby asked and Jaune was shocked.
This had to be Ruby messing with him right? There was no way that Pyrrha liked him, hell she was Pyrrha Nikos! She could have any guy that she wanted so why would she want to be with him? When it came to training him that was only because she felt bad for him right? And because Pyrrha was so kindhearted, it wasn't because she had any feelings for him. If Weiss didn't like him then how could a tournament champion like Pyrrha Nikos like him? Jaune was drawn out of his thoughts by Ruby's voice.
"You could make it up to her you know, ask her to the dance." Ruby commanded but Jaune glared at her.
"Ruby there is no way that Pyrrha likes me so stop trying to get in my head! She is a tournament champion and she's gorgeous, she could have anyone that she wants! If Weiss doesn't want to give me a chance then what makes you think that a tournament champion wants to be with me? Pyrrha just helps me with things because she feels bad for me, and she is my teammate that's all. If she doesn't show up to the dance with a date then I will wear a dress!" Jaune said seriously and Ruby snorted.
"Fine have it your way, wear either light blue or white it will go great with your skin." Ruby snarked as she started walking away but Jaune stopped her.
"Ruby wait!" Jaune called out and Ruby stopped.
"What is it?" Ruby asked and Jaune sighed.
"It was nice ok? It was nice not being the one that was talked about or made fun of that night. Look Ruby, ever since I got here people have made fun of me and I have been embarrassed constantly whether it be in combat class or just everyday things. I am not like you or Jago, I'm not this badass who can take down grimm with ease or get invited to a special unit in Atlas. I'm just some kid with a standard sword and shield, so forgive me if I cherish one night of not being talked down upon." Jaune said honestly but Ruby looked at him like he was an idiot.
"So just because you are mad that a bunch of random people make fun of you, that gives you the right to badmouth someone who has helped you and has been kind to you?" Ruby asked and Jaune widened his eyes and looked down in shame.
"That's what I thought, take care Jaune." Ruby said as she walked down the stairs and left Jaune to his shame.
Ruby walked back to her dorm room; her mind fresh on what just happened. She wondered why she even did that, considering that she was fine not talking to Jaune or the others for a while. Was she being nice or was she just too annoyed by Jaune's pathetic attempts at trying to get Weiss to go out with him? She didn't know what the true answer was, but she hoped that he did the right thing and for once would not make a stupid decision that he usually made.
Ruby also played Jaune's explanation of why he badmouthed her in her head, and to be honest she was sadder than angry. She knew that Jaune had confidence issues, his performance at Beacon so far as well as what Jago told her about his non-existent fighting skills had told her that much. Ruby understood Jaune's frustration on being made fun of but what did he expect? He faked his way into an elite hunter academy with very little information on the subject and a severe lack of combat skills. Not everyone was going to be as nice as Pyrrha or her.
If Ruby was being honest she was angry at Jaune more than the others on Team JNPR because Jaune really was her first friend that she made at Beacon. After Yang had ditched her to hang out with her other friends, Weiss causing the dust explosion fiasco and Blake just walked off, Jaune was the only one that actually talked to her. She thought that she had made a good friend but hearing Jaune turn on her that night really hurt. Ruby was brought out of her thoughts when she heard a voice.
"Hey Ruby!" Neptune said as he came up to her.
"Neptune? What is it?" Ruby asked in a weird tone seeing as though Neptune never really talked to her.
"Hey, you know that white-haired girl and brown-haired girl who you became friends with on Atlas?" Neptune asked and Ruby narrowed her eyes.
"You mean Mira and Cana? What about them?" Ruby asks curiously, not liking where this was going.
"Can you give me their numbers? Please?!" Neptune begged and Ruby rolled her eyes.
"Neptune I'm sorry but I don't do that so if you will excuse me." Ruby said before walking off but Neptune grabbed her arm.
"Wait why not?" Neptune asked and Ruby glared at him.
"First of all, get your hands off me." Ruby said in a cold voice and Neptune quickly let go.
"Oh sorry." Neptune said sheepishly.
"To answer your question, I don't give out my friends' numbers to people that they have never seen or met, that's just creepy. If you really want to try your like with them then do it at the Vytal Festival, everyone from every academy will be there. Though I should mention that Mira has a boyfriend who could kick your ass, and Cana is a boss chick who doesn't come in your size. If you want to get your heartbroken then be my guest." Ruby said as she walked away and left Neptune with his mouth wide open.
Neptune couldn't believe the back talk that he had just received from Ruby, all he wanted was her two friends' numbers what was the big deal? They were gorgeous so of course Neptune wanted to try to get a date with one of them, what was so wrong about that? Hell, if Ruby wasn't related to Yang he would ask her on a date but didn't want Yang to kick his ass. It was clear to him that Ruby was still standoffish as her team said she was, and he couldn't really blame her.
Neptune was really disappointed when Coco told him what happened between Ruby and her team, he thought that it was really uncalled for. No one was perfect and there was not really a reason to badmouth her in a group like that. He also thought that the reasons why they were angry were pretty stupid, Blake read all the time so what was a few minutes of Ruby wanting to hang out with her going to do? Yang loved throwing her big sister status around and Weiss was her partner so what exactly were they complaining about?
He heard the WBY express their dislike for what Ruby said to them when she got back but secretly he had to agree with what she said. Neptune had seen Yang flirt with boys and let's just say that she was being extra to say the least, so it didn't surprise him that no boy called her back. He knew that Weiss was incredibly cold and judgmental, it was one of the biggest turnoffs for him even though he thought Weiss was pretty. Finally, what Ruby said about Blake was the truest statement ever, she read all day every day and only took a break to go out clubbing.
Neptune wondered if Ruby would ever forgive the WBY, he hoped so because even though they were the ones at fault he didn't want them to be sad forever. It seemed that Ruby was fine with not talking to them for a while though, considering that she had other friends even if none of them went to Beacon. Neptune would be lying if he said that he didn't miss the old Ruby, especially after how she just talked to him a few moments ago. He wondered if that old Ruby would ever resurface.
Ruby finally made her way back to her dorm room, annoyed at what just happened. Of course, the only time that Neptune chose to talk to her would be in order to get her friends' numbers and try to flirt with them. Ruby really wondered why Weiss had a crush on Neptune in the first place he was such a dork, not as bad as Jaune but still a dork anyway. She very much doubted that Cana would be interested in Neptune, considering that wannabe bad boys were not really her type.
Ruby entered her room and saw that her team was in there as well doing different things. Weiss was brushing her hair, Blake was reading a book as usual, and Yang was watching some video on her scroll. Yang saw Ruby enter the door and immediately glared at her, to which Ruby did the same thing showing that she was not intimidated in the slightest. Ruby rolled her eyes and went to her desk to resume her ominous amount of makeup work.
Needless to say, things were pretty tense in Team RWBY's dorm room, and it looked like it was going to stay that way for a while. Ruby was fine with that because she was still sour about the whole situation and needed some space from them. Not to mention all the makeup that she had to do, she really didn't need any distractions. The WBY felt the same way as they wanted to give Ruby space so she could calm down but also because they were pissed at we she said to them.
Unknown to Ruby, her teammates were going to use the dance on Sunday to try and unwind and forget about this whole thing with Ruby. They were secretly glad that she said that she wasn't going, they didn't want to be glaring at each other the whole night. That being said though, all three girls might be going alone though Yang wanted that so she could turn some heads. Weiss was waiting for Neptune to ask her, and Blake was contemplating if she wanted to take Sun up on his offer to go with him. Just then there was a knock on the door.
"Coming!" Weiss said as she got up from her desk and went to the door and opened it revealing Coco Adel.
"Oh hello Coco, do you need something?" Weiss asked.
"Yeah, Red you got a minute?" Coco called out to Ruby who turned around.
"Will it take long? I'm kind of busy here." Ruby said while holding up a book.
"It won't be long I promise." Coco said a little irritated while rolling her eyes.
"Alright then." Ruby said while getting up and going out the door and closing it behind her before turning to Coco.
"What's up?" Ruby asked curiously and Coco sighed.
"Look Red-Ruby, I wanted to apologize for how I have been treating you for these past couple months. I heard from your teammates what happened a couple weeks ago, and I wanted to let you know that I don't badmouth you like they did. I honestly didn't invite you to the parties that I threw because I thought that you were too young, and you couldn't get in. I really didn't want to risk getting caught and the whole thing blowing up, so I kept you in the dark and I'm sorry." Coco said honestly and Ruby sighed.
"OK Coco, here is the thing I think I would be okay if you guys went out like occasionally, but you all did it every weekend for months. For months you all would just disappear without letting me know and I would be all alone in this room. I started to look in the mirror disgusted with myself, like I wasn't good enough or I was a loser. Then add up the fact that they were talking about me like those haters do every day, it started to make me feel like I didn't belong here in Beacon." Ruby said honestly and Coco's eyes widened.
"Ruby you know that is not true, hell you are living proof! Ruby you're sixteen and you are gorgeous, just look at you! You glowed up in a matter of months that some girls take years to do, and all the boys here look at you when you walk in the hallway. Not only that but of course you belong here at Beacon, you constantly kick ass and Professor Ozpin is fond of you. Finally, I thought you were too young to party, but you proved me wrong. I saw you on Cana Alberona's media page and saw the two of you with those other girls at that party looking like supermodels." Coco informed Ruby and Ruby rolled her eyes.
"Yeah we looked really good that night, I'm not gonna lie. It amazed me that they wanted me to go with them, considering that I am younger than them and how that had been going. Yet imagine my surprise when they said all I had to do was not drink and have fun. And that was that all of us have become good friends and we constantly stay in touch. I thought I was gonna be a burden, but they like me for who I am, and I am grateful. That could have happened here but you guys wanted nothing to do with me, so I gave up." Ruby said and Coco looked down.
Coco really felt bad because she and the others could have invited Ruby out if they did what her new friends did, but they didn't. She was starting to see Ruby's point, they didn't invite her out because they thought she was too young, they didn't invite her because they were annoyed with her and didn't consider her feelings. They pretty much used going to parties as an excuse to get away from Ruby, something that all of them were regretting.
"Look Red, I know that we didn't treat you right, but you know we can change right? Let us try to make it up to you!" Coco begged and Ruby sighed.
"Listen Coco, I appreciate you coming to talk to me like this, but I don't really wanna hang out with people who don't like me and neglect me. The harsh truth is that if I didn't hear my team and team JNPR that night, nothing would have changed. I would still be neglected, and you guys would be going out getting trashed every weekend while I would be here in this room alone. Also, those guys would have just said those things about me and felt no remorse. So, for right now, I'm just gonna be about me, alright?" Ruby asked Coco and she sighed.
"Yeah, I understand Ruby, and once again I'm sorry." Coco said honestly.
"Take care." Ruby said as she went back inside her room leaving Coco to her thoughts.
DAY OF THE DANCE
A couple days had passed, and it was Sunday, the last day of the weekend and the day of the dance. Ruby had used that morning to work out and to go to the shooting range to keep her skills in check. Her teammates were getting ready for the dance at a very early time to which Ruby rolled her eyes and left them alone. She was going to use tonight to finish up the last of her make up work, something that she thanked God for. Ruby would not be at the dance, but she prayed that her teammates didn't do anything crazy, like Yang punching a guy threw the wall or Weiss going off on someone.
Ruby was currently at her desk doing her work, her teammates left to go to the dance early as they were hosting it along with Coco's team. Ruby wondered what she should do if she finished her work early and the night was still young? She would probably just video chat with Seth or one of her girls if he was busy but he was probably just playing video games. Ruby really wanted to see him, and just like that her thoughts were interrupted when she heard her scroll ringing and saw that it was Seth.
"Hey!" Ruby said happily.
"Hey beautiful, what you up to?" Seth asked.
"Oh, finishing up some work, gonna enjoy the peace and quiet now that my teammates are at the dance. Hey babe hold on someone is at the door." Ruby said as she heard knocking and went to open the door and widened her eyes when she saw who it was.
"Yo!" Seth said with a smile.
"Oh my God what are you doing here?!" Ruby asked happily as she kissed and hugged Seth.
"Oh you know, got an assignment to take a tour of Vale for a class back at Haven. I leave tomorrow but I wanted to see my girl first and didn't want her to be alone tonight. Anyway, wanna head to the pool hall in Vale and just chill?" Seth asked Ruby who nodded.
"Yeah sounds good, thank God that I won't have to change clothes or anything. Hold up let me grab Crescent Rose and my handcuffs." Ruby said as she went to grab her items.
"You wanna bring them? I doubt anything bad will happen at that part of town." Seth said.
"Yeah but, it can't hurt to be prepared right?" Ruby asked.
"I guess not come on let's go." Seth said as he wrapped his arm around Ruby who leaned into his embrace.
Ruby was so glad that everyone was either at the dance or heading to the dance so that they couldn't see her and Seth. She had no problem showing off her boyfriend, but she really did not want people to be in her business, especially her team. Ruby was happy that Seth surprised her and that she is about to spend time with him, she could finish her work later. Both Ruby and Seth sneaked onto the airship and headed for Vale, not knowing what was going to await them when they returned.
Author Notes:
Another chapter down and I have to say something. Guys, if you don't like the story then just don't read it problem solved. I am not an author; this is just a random hobby and if you think I am rewriting the story then you have me fucked up. Also, quit leaving all these paragraphs in the reviews because I'm not reading that shit you are just wasting your time lmao. If you like the story then great, and if you don't like it to the point where you are writing essays about how much you don't like it then bye. You will not hurt my feelings, I promise lol. Anyway, Ruby had some very needed conversations in the fact that she told Jaune the harsh truth, she declined giving Neptune her friends' numbers and she had a good talk with Coco. She isn't really that angry with Coco just more disappointed. And now her boyfriend surprised her and they are gonna hang out, but what will they come back to? Find out next time~
