Jinero: Not a fan of SNL, so can't say.
Sandy Cheeks: Uh, I am.
Green Hal37: Glad to hear it. Me either. Can't say I blame you. Exactly.
Ellie Bishop: Yep. Well, Tony is not exactly known for being reasonable, especially in the heat of the moment. Indeed they do. Yep, in the words of Rebekah Mikaelson, Thor and Loki fight like dogs but they would die for each other. Yep. Yeah, T'Challa has quiet the task ahead of him, even without Killmonger.
Adamprime117: Glad to hear it.
Guest 1: Glad to hear it.
Guest 2: Loki took one of my favorite MCU characters and removed everything I liked about him. Prior to the show, the character of Loki was a formable opponent, a master tactician who was always thinking three steps ahead of everyone else, he always had a trick up his sleeve and was only ever defeated by his own hubris. Now, Loki falls for obvious traps, makes stupid decisions, and spends more time getting beat up than Pre Serum Steve by people he should be able to defeat. The plot also makes no sense and gives new meaning to the word convoluted. Most of all though, the title is misleading. Loki is not the show's main charter, Sylvie is. The entire show is built around her while Loki is reduced to her plucky sidekick who follows her around like a lost puppy. The continuity of it is also questionable because, if Loki is canon, then the Time Heist in Endgame should not have been able to happen. As for What if, a better titled would be 'WTF', because none of it makes any sense. I mean, Thanos, who spent centuries planning on how to wipe out half of all life, decides to abandon said plan after one conversation with T'Challa? It's like these people only watched half the first act of each MCU movie and decided that was all they needed to know. Both are absolute trash and an insult to good storytelling.
Barton farm
Morning
After doing some of his early chores, Clint walked back into the house as quietly as possible. It wasn't even light outside yet, so the kids were still asleep. However, as he walked by the kitchen, Clint paused as he saw his wife sitting at the kitchen table, holding a cup of coffee.
"Hey," Laura said as she saw him.
"Hey," he echoed as he walked inside. "How long you been up?"
"Since you got out of bed. To be honest, I didn't get much sleep last night," Laura admitted. "I…had a lot to think about."
Clint nodded in understanding. After the kids had all gone to bed, Clint and Laura had sat down in the kitchen and Clint had told her everything: The Accords, Thanos, their trip through time, everything. Laura had said she needed time to process it all, which Clint understood. Had he not experienced it himself, he wasn't sure he would have believed his story either.
"So what's the plan about these…Accords?" Laura asked as she looked up at him.
"Nat called last night. She wanted to see if it was alright if Wanda could come stay with us before Ross makes his visit," Clint said as he looked his wife in the eye. "I said I'd talk to you about it."
Laura nodded, appreciating that he hadn't said yes without consulting her, knowing he likely wanted to. Wanda Maximoff's name had been mentioned a lot in their house in the last year, usually after phone calls or when Clint had returned from a trip to visit his friends at the Compound. She knew her husband was very fond of Wanda, a lesser woman might have felt suspicious and jealous of the attention Clint paid to younger woman. But Laura knew her husband well enough to trust him and be sure of the fact that Clint's affections for Wanda were far from romantic. Perhaps it was time to get to know the young woman Clint was so found of.
"I'm sure Cooper won't mind sleeping on the couch for a few days," Laura noted.
"Really?" Clint asked, letting out a laugh. "A thirteen year old boy, getting kicked out of his room, yeah that can go well."
As she laughed with her husband, Laura felt the pit in her stomach begin to ease a tiny bit. She knew there would be dark days ahead. Thanos and The Accords loomed. But for now, she was content to share this time with her husband.
Wakanda
Same time
T'Challa was walking down the hall after doing his morning training when Shuri met him in the hallway.
"You missed breakfast this morning," Shuri noted.
"I ate with the Dora Milaje before training," T'Challa said dismissively.
"What happened between you and Baba?" Shuri asked as the pair stopped. "He won't tell me or mother what happened, he just sits in the throne room, says he needs to think. What happened?"
"I learned Baba isn't the man I thought he was," T'Challa said after a moment, torn between protecting their father's image and being honest with his sister. "And it is between us. You need not concern yourself with it Shuri."
Shuri opened her mouth to argue when Ayo emerged from around the corner.
"My prince, the king requests your presence in the throne room," she said.
A few minutes later, T'Challa stood outside the throne room doors. He was under no illusions that this was a simple matter of discussion between father or son, or king and prince. This was a meeting that would have ramifications. Although what kind of ramifications, T'Challa wasn't sure yet.
After a few moments, T'Challa pushed the doors opened. As he entered the room, he saw his father sitting on the throne. As the doors closed behind him, T'Challa and his father eyed each other silently, each measuring up the other to see where the other stood.
"Sit my son," T'Chaka said, gesturing to the seat across from the throne.
"I would prefer to stand," T'Challa said stiffly and his father nodded.
"As you wish," T'Chaka said evenly. "We have things we must discuss."
"I am not sure there is anything left to say," T'Challa said stiffly.
"There is a great deal left to say," T'Chaka said and took a moment to prepare himself. "Later today, I will announce to the people that I am stepping down as king."
Whatever T'Challa had been expecting to hear, it had not been that. T'Challa stared at his father for several moments as T'Chaka simply waited for him to speak.
"When I confronted you, I did not intend for you to abdicate the throne," T'Challa said, still processing this.
"By confronting me, you proved it was time for me to do so," T'Chaka said as he got to his feet. "What I did…it was wrong of me to abandon the boy, to keep this secret. In my heart, I always knew it. Your action prove not only are you a better man than I, but you are ready to become king. I always knew that Wakanda would need to reenter the world. But now I know it is not I who will lead it there, it must be you T'Challa."
"I will do my best Baba," T'Challa promised after a moment.
"Your best will be good enough," T'Chaka said with a proud smile.
Asgard
Same time
Thor sat on the throne in the palace, beginning to think he should get used to this. Even if they found Odin and managed to convince him to return to Asgard, Thor knew his father would not reclaim the throne. Odin's time as king had ended, and it looked like it was time for Thor's to begin.
The last twenty four hours had been busy. Loki had been confined to his room, under lock and key as his earth friends would say. Skurge had revealed the truth to the Asgardian people while Sif, under Thor's orders, had begun searching the planet for Heimdall. Thor knew it was unlikely that she would find him, but Thor needed time away from Sif, to process his feelings of anger and betrayal towards Sif.
The throne room doors opened and Thor looked up to see Sif entering with a man in a cloak just behind her. Thor smiled; already knowing who it was before Heimdall lowered the hood.
"Heimdall, my old friend," Thor said jovially as he rose from the throne and walked over to meet them.
"Thor, it is good to see you my prince. Or my king, I suppose," Heimdall mused as they clasped hands.
"Where have you been my friend?" Thor said as they dropped hands.
"In hiding, helping all those your brother banished," Heimdall said.
"You knew it was Loki, not my father," Thor noted.
"But I could not prove it while banished," Heimdall noted. "But I sense there is more going on here than your brother. What has happened?"
"A great deal, I do not even know where to begin," Thor said as he looked over at Sif. "Leave us."
Although she looked like she wanted to protest, Sif nodded, looking like she'd swallowed something sour. It hadn't escaped her notice how curt Thor had been with her since his return. But she would not confront him about it with an audience. So she turned and left the room, closing the doors to the throne room behind her.
"You are angry with her," Heimdall noted and Thor nodded.
"She lied to me. She kept a secret from me that she had no right to keep," Thor said, anger entering his voice before he shook his head, calming his mind. "But that does not matter now. We have far more problems than my feelings. A great threat is coming. One that Asgard alone cannot defeat…"
Avengers Compound
Later in the morning
In the kitchen, Wanda sat at the counter, a cup of coffee in her hand. Hearing someone enter the room, Wanda looked up to see Vision standing in the doorway.
"Vis," she said lowly.
"Wanda. I…feel we have much to discuss," Vision said as he walked into the room.
"No, we don't. I just…I need to say something and I need you to listen, okay?" Wanda said uneasily.
Although confused, Vision nodded as Wanda tried to find the words.
"I've been thinking a lot about what we saw, about some things that Scarlet told me. And I've come to a decision," Wanda said, putting her coffee down and getting to her feet. "You're not a bad person, you're not. But…you need to learn a lot more about the world, about how to be human, before you can be anything more than a friend, a teammate. So I think, for a while at least…our relationship should be strictly professional. And I need you to respect that, to respect me enough to go along with it."
Vision stared at her silently for several moments as Wanda waited for him to respond. She knew this wasn't what he wanted to hear, and she felt bad for hurting his feelings. But she'd thought about this all night and she knew it was best, for her and for Vision.
"I shall…respect your wishes," Vision said as he stared at Wanda sadly.
"Thank you," Wanda said.
She thought about saying something ore but then thought better of it, realizing it would be to make her feel better not him. So she simply dumped out her coffee in the sink and walked out of the room.
"Well, it's not a bad plan," Tony noted as Steve video chatted with him in his office, explaining the plan for sending Wanda to Clint's. "What about Barnes though?"
"Nat and I are flying off to Bucharest tomorrow, get him back here," Steve said and it was silent for a moment. "If it's too difficult to have him here, I have other places I can stay with Bucky."
"No, it's probably best that he stays at the Compound. You can keep an eye on him and Helen Cho can try to figure out a way to deprogram him. Just…give me some time to wrap my head around this," Tony said uncomfortably and Steve nodded in understanding.
"I understand. Thank you Tony," Steve said, knowing how difficult this was for him. "So, maybe we should have Hill contact Fury, coordinate with his Spy Network."
"That's gonna be a little difficult. I kind of…fired her," Tony said uncomfortably. "At the time I was angry about Phil. Now…"
"You feel like you acted rashly," Steve supplied and Tony nodded with a wince. "Well, knowing Fury, he'll reach at some point either way. No major harm done."
"I really hope so Cap. We'll need all the help we can get," Tony said uneasily.
"We have two years to prepare for Thanos Tony. Try not to get too caught up in the future you forget the here and now," Steve advised. "For now, let's worry about The Accords and Zemo."
Queens
Later in the afternoon
Peter was laying on his bed in his room, deep in thought. While the Avengers had been focused on the bigger threats, Peter was stuck thinking about what he would do now.
He wasn't a super soldier or Iron Man; he was just a fourteen year old kid with super powers. But with great power came great responsibility. This city was his home, and he wasn't gonna let anyone, not even the UN; tell him he couldn't protect it.
Remember his future self's words on his suit, Peter opened the hatched above his room and his make shift suit emerged from the loft space. Picking it off the rope, Peter closed the hatch before walking over, pulling out a sewing kit. It was time to get to work.
I know nothing much has happened so far, but we'll start to get into the plot next chapter, where our favorite Winter Soldier will finally make his story appearance.
