Chapter 2
The School for Fairies
"Ok Goldie, have we got everything?" Valerie was asking her pet Golden Lion Tamarin Monkey. Today was the day that Valerie and Goldie were leaving to begin a new teaching life at a mysterious fairy school in a world called "The realm of Magix". After studying for many years Valerie had never come across the realm of Magix and couldn't wait to explore this mysterious new world. One thing she did know after gaining infomation about it from the Head Mistress of the school was that it as a place where magical beings gather but also it was one of many magical realms. Valerie was fasinated about this and was eager to learn more about these worlds and about magical beings. She was unable to sleep last night due to excitement. Valerie has just finishing her the last bit of her packing before it was time to leave. She spent hours deciding what outfits and accessories to pack "The shoes don't forget the shoes" she remembered saying to herself as she packed in some cowboy boots. Goldie, who was going to accompany her was sitting on a dresser chair "I'm so glad that they allow pets at the school Goldie, now have you got all your things packed?" Valerie asked the monkey. The monkey gave Valerie a smile and a wink as she was pointing to a small suitcase with her long tail "Oh good!" Valerie said to Goldie sweetly as she looked at her wrist watch "Gosh its almost time to go, we better get moving".
The two walked out the front door of Valerie's vibrant Walkerville home and shut and locked it behind them "Thank goodness my mother is coming to look after our house and to water the plant" Valerie told Goldie. They walked towards a garage and opened the garage door with a press of the button from her keychain. As the door lifted up a high pitched beep sounded, it was Valerie & Goldie's magical almost alive motorbike. "Ready to go bike?" Valerie asked as she loaded the bike up with her and Goldie's luggage "Beep, Beep" the bike sounded, completely understanding every word she was saying. Valerie placed everything into a back boot which magically shunk to fit in "Nice one bike!" she commented to the bike. "Now then all set! Ready to use your new magical realm transporter function bike?" Valerie asked the bike as she hopped on with Goldie hopping on behind her. The bike made another beeping sounded, it sounded like it was excited too! She placed a helmet on her head and placed some goggles over her eyes as did Goldie, "Seatbelts everyone! Bike do your stuff!" she shouted as she turned a key and pressed a blue button "Thank goodness, i was able to install this function into you bike, with the help of fairy magic, lets see if it works! Here we go!". The bike began to wheel out of the garage and onto the driveway. Valerie pressed a button on her keychain to close the garage door. She then controlled the bike and rode it towards the street "Vrum, Vrum" the bike sounded as it turned onto the street "Hmmm maybe the function is taking its time!" Valerie wondered as she felt not much was happening.
Valerie began to drive the bike down her street everything was looking normal until she noticed the world around her was starting to go foggy and almost misty "Hmmmm could this be our transport to Alfea?" she wondered. It wasn't long until she was surrounded by a vortex of light purply pink clouds and sparkles. She wasn't afraid, more excited and curious at the same time as she began to notice a light at the end of the tunnel "This is it Goldie!" she happily told the monkey "I can feel it! Hold on tight!". It felt so magical, it reminded her of when she use to travel back in time with the kids she taught all those years ago. As they got closer to the light it got bigger and brighter "Here we gooooo!" Valerie shouted as they all entered the patch of light. Valerie, Goldie and even bike were blinded by the light, however it wasn't long until they noticed that they could see civilization around them again. Valerie gentlely turned the key to turn off bike as she knew they had reached their distination Alfea College for Fairies! Goldie and Valerie had landed what looked like inside the school grounds "Perfect landing" Valerie said as she took off her helmet and goggles. Valerie looked around and was mesmerized by her new surroundings "How beautiful is this school! Goldie look those pink towers!" she said to Goldie who was trying to get her helmet off "Oh sorry Goldie let me help you!". She helped the monkey take off the helmet and it wasn't long until Goldie climbed up onto Valerie's shoulder. The monkey also was amazed by the castle like school that they were now in "and what do you think bike?" Valerie asked the bike "Beepbeep!" it honked back to her also showing that it was impressed.
"Ahhh great to see that our transport spell worked!" Valerie heard a voice coming from behind her, she then turned around to see the Head-Mistress Faragonda and the Deputy Head-Mistress Griselda whom she had met before. "Good Morning Head-Mistress Faragonda and Griselda, its an honour to see you both again" Valerie politely said to them as she shoke both their hands. "Thank goodness it worked, this spell doesn't usually work on humans" Griselda said in a serious voice pushing her glasses up her nose "But it did Griselda as we sensed before Valerie has some kind magic within her, she is not a normal human as we first thought" Faragonda answered with her hands behind her back. Valerie blushed she was very honoured to hear that Faragonda could sense magic within her "Goldie and i are so honoured to be here, thank you so much for allowing us in, i've got so much planned for the students!" Valerie happliy told the two women. "Well please come this way Valerie and we will show you to the teachers quarters followed by a tour of the school and a meet and greet with the other staff" Faragonda told Valerie, just then Goldie decided to claim down from Valerie's shoulder and then onto the bike "Oh what's wrong with your monkey friend?" Faragonda asks "Oh she must be a little shy" Valerie replied "She is not usually like this when she meets new people". Faragonda came over towards the bike and Goldie "Hello there Goldie, its ok its nice to meet you, we have some fairy animals who would love to meet you!" Faragonda sweetly told the monkey. The kindly women patted Goldie on the head gentley which Goldie loved. It wasn't long unitl Goldie climbed up onto her shoulder "Oh i'm so sorry Head-Mistress, Goldie get down!" Valerie shouted nervously "It's quite alright dear" Faragonda replied "I've got many animal friends". Faragonda then began to tickle Goldie under her chin. "Right then we better get moving, we will first show you were you can store your...ah...interesting motorbike!" Griselda spoke in a serious tone, "Yes, thank you Griselda, we have a special shelter for magical vehicles!" Faragonda answered, Goldie climbed down from the Head-Mistresses shoulder and back onto Valerie's "Good Girl!" Valerie whispered "That sounds great! Thank you!".
Faragonda and Griselda showed Valerie and Goldie to the vehicle shelter where bike can be stored "You have access at anytime, we will give you a key in duration" Griselda informed Valerie and Goldie "Lovely thank you!" Valerie replied. There was a special pen for bike to be placed while it was in the shelter, complete with Valerie's name and a secure magical barrier "Would it be likely for my bike to get stolen?" Valerie asked concernly "We just want to be extra careful, the school has been attacked in the past by evil creatures and we do not want anything valuable stolen or destroyed" Faragonda quietly informed Valerie. "Beep! Beeep!", "What was that?" Griselda asked, "Oh, it was my bike! It can be quite a character!" Valerie quickly informed Griselda and Faragonda "Gosh that's ah...", "We will inform you more about it when you get settled in" Faragonda quietly told Valerie. Griselda gave Valerie a key and fob for access to the shelter. Valerie got her luggage out of bike which still had been shunken to fit into the boot, suddenly a burst of light appeared before the luggage and the luggage returned to its normal size "Thank you Bike!" Valerie told the bike "How did you do that?" Griselda asked "Magic!" Valerie answered under her breath.
It wasn't long until Valerie was shown to her apartment room to place her luggage followed by a informativate tour of the school run by Griselda and Faragonda. Along the way Valerie was introduced to follow teachers and staff like Professor Wizgiz (who was the leprechaun she saw from a distance on the day she accidently came across the school), Professor Palladium who was an elf, Professor Avalon a wizard, Ofelia the school nurse, Barbarea the school librarian and Professor Du Four (all 3 women were fairies too but were in their ordinary forms like Faragonda and Griselda). Griselda and Faragonda led Valerie to Faragonda's office being the end of the tour "Well here ends the tour!" Faragonda said happily "Thank you Griselda, that will be all for now", Griselda nodded her head and went back to her office down the hall "Goodbye Griselda and thank you!" Valerie shouted. Griselda turned to face Valerie and pushed her glasses back up her nose with a slight nod and smile in acknowledgement before she continued her way. "We would also like to invite you to our special welcoming dinner tonight in the great hall" Faragonda said gratefully to Valerie "That way you will a have a change to mingle with the members of staff!", "Oh that would be fantastic! I would love to attend!" Valerie answered excitably as she was shown to a chair by Faragonda near a desk.
As Valerie sat down still with Goldie on her shoulder, Faragonda informed her about everything about the school and most importantly the fairy students. The Head-Mistress also informed her about other schools in the area Redfountain for Specialists and Cloudtower for Witches. Valerie was amazed she even asked the Head-Mistress if they were the kind of witches with pointy heads and brooms. Faragonda laughed but understood why Valerie asked that question since Valerie was from Earth "Not quite dear! Brooms yes not so much pointy hats". Lastly Faragonda recapped about the evil that sometimes strikes Alfea and that anyone or anything can appear at anytime with a reason for attacking Alfea "But it seems such a nice school why would anyone what to attack?" Valerie asked "You would be suprised" Faragonda told the redhaired women. Faragonda continued "My teachers and esspecially my students are great at defending the school when that happens a lot of team work and effort goes in!", "I'm guessing that everyone uses their fairy powers?" Valerie asked in amazement "Yes the students transform into their fairy forms that help them to boost their magic and defence, some of those students have left to do great things, like the Winx for instrance" Faragonda told Valerie. This was not the first time Valerie had heard about the famous Winx Club, she asked Faragonda to kindly tell her more about them. Faragonda was more then happy to tell Valerie about the Winx however briefly because Faragonda wanted to make sure that there was time for the both of them to get ready for the Welcome Dinner that evening.
After Valerie left the Head-Mistresses Office, she and Goldie went back to their room following a map that was kindly given to them by Griselda. The school was quiet as the students hadn't arrived yet. Faragonda explained that they do not start arriving till 2 days time which gives the teachers time to settle in and to prepare their timetables and classrooms. Valerie could not wait to get started with all the planning but first things first she had to decide what to wear to tonights welcome dinner!
