Chapter 3
First Day
"Today's the day Goldie! Finally i get to start teaching today!" Valerie said excitably to Goldie who was still half asleep in her luxious pet bed. The monkey smiled at her before drifting back to sleep. Valerie bounced out of bed to undraw the curtains of her Alfea bedroom to have a good look at the mornings sun. She then opened the door to the small balcony "Smell that fresh morning air Goldie! Today's going to be a great day i can feel it!" she said as she continued talking to Goldie who she thought was still listening but had gone back to sleep. Valerie then turned back and headed back into her room to get herself ready for the day deciding to put on a dress with the map of Earth with matching Earth's globe shoes and earrings. She smiled as she saw the sleeping monkey and patted her gentley on the head "I know Goldie it is early but fancy some breakfast?" she asked. Goldie immediately opened her eyes and bounced our of her bed excited that it was breakfast time "Ha ha i knew that would get you out of bed sleepy-head!". Valerie walked over to a cupboard we she kept Goldie's food and snacks. Luckily Goldie was not a greedy monkey and was trusted not to go through the cupboards looking for food when Valerie is out. "There you go, eat up Goldie while i'll go and get myself ready, maybe i'll learn how to magically make food appear during the time we are here!" Valerie told the monkey who was nippling on some dried fruit.
She left Goldie in peace, she had to make herself look presentable for the first day of classes. She watched as the students started to arrive during the past 2 days. All of them fairies in training. She was told by the staff at the welcome dinner a couple of nights ago that the students starting coming a few days before the first day of classes so they can settle in, just like them. The Welcome Dinner was a lovely event for Valerie, properly meeting and greeting her fellow collegues and getting to know what they teach and where they come from. She was the only human from Earth and felt a little bit of a fish out of water unitl she soon found that everyone was so welcoming. They even commented on her sense for fashion as the choice of outfit that Valerie choose to wear fasinated them. What she wore was her long red evening dress with the crystals on them complete the matching crystal earrings & necklace "I have a way for fashion!" she said to her new work collegues. She never got that sort of reaction on Earth particularly her ex-students who all thought she was mad apart from adults and her friends but she didn't care! Valerie also had explained that she made all her own clothes, one comment was made by a young looking lady who's name was Daphne who she hadn't met yet "You create fashion without the use of magic? My sister is very good at that too. I would love to get a few pointers from you one day!" she happily said to Valerie. Valerie remembers smiling to the Professor and made a promise that she would love to show not just her but everyone if their interested how to create fashion without the use of magic. The Headmistress then made a lovely welcoming speech and made a special welcome to Valerie before they all sat down to a magical 3 course feast.
The next day, Valerie got up early and deicded to pop on a dark blue dress with muticoloured pokadots on it. After breakfast went to quickly check on Bike before she made her way to her ground floor classroom where she would be teaching from. It was a large room with huge windows that were overlooking the forrest and a large skylight in the ceiling. Everything looked normal for a classroom student desks, teacher's desk, an old fashioned blackboard, shelves & bookcases. Valerie had this vision that it would look slightly different since its a fairy school. The thought was that it would have greenery everywhere, the furniture made out of pine and toadstalls but nope everything looked normal. She didn't mind at least she was allowed to make the classroom look how she wanted "Right Operation Classroom starts now!" Valerie shouted as she had her hands on her hips as she placed a large red briefcase that had a picture of a lizard patched into it and began to remove items out of it to decorate her classroom. As she looked up she started to talk to herself "Wish i had wings like a fairy to get up to those high ceilings! However at least i have Bike to help me out!" towards one of the windows and opened it, the next thing she did was place her pinkies in her mouth and started to whistle. Suddenly a sound of a hovering could be heard and an object started to fly towards the window from the outside. It was Valerie's bike! Only it wasn't in its normal motorcycle form, it had magically transformed itself into a lively toy helicopter! It flew into the classroom before Valerie asked for it to transform into a cherry-picker "Bike do your stuff!". Then in just under a second the bike had morphed into a cherry-picker on demand, Bike was very happy to assist her with any lifting that needed to be done. Valerie then went back to the briefcase, in her own magical way she started to pull out items from books to a model skeleton "Ahh there you are boney!" she happily chuckled, a fish tank to a large mobile of the humanworld solar system. With the help of Bike/Cherry-Picker the decoration process was almost in within 2 hours, Valerie was standing on Bike/Cherry-Picker hanging her mobile solar system from the ceiling "Almost there, ah there's a hook perfect!" she happily commented to herself. Bike/Cherry-Picker started to vibrate gentley and made a short beep sound "Oh and great job to you too Bike! Thank you for your help! You can put me down now! Phew!". Valerie was gentley lowered to the ground shortly before clapping her hands once and Bike/Cherry-Picker transformed back into its normal motorbike form. Then there was a light knock on the door which had been closed while setting up "Hello Valerie are you there?" a voice sounded "Quick Bike! Miniaturize!" Valerie said quietly and quickly as she looked towards Bike. In a burst of light Bike had shunk in the size of a toy car being able to fit into Valerie's hand. She gentley picked up and placed it onto her desk "Come in!" she answered in a frazzled sounded voice.
The door slowly opened and a young long blonde headed girl with big orangy eyes entered. As Valerie examined the women, she had thoughts in her head that she could almost be mistaken for a student. Then she remembered that it was Professor Daphne one of the teachers she had met the night before. Valerie took a liking to Daphne as she seemed like a kind and gentle person with fire within her. It wasn't until they got chatty and Valerie found out that she was crowned princess of a planet called Domino and that she was the older sister of Bloom (one of the Winx Club girls who Faragonda had mentioned about earlier). Daphne also stated that her source of fairy magic was the dragon flame! So she did have fire within her literally! "The room looks great!" Daphne said in such excitment, Valerie was over the moon with the lovely comment "Thank you Daphne! It took a lot of work but i think we've got there!" Valerie answered to Daphne. Suddenly, both women could hear a snapping sound. Both women looked into the direction that the snapping sound came from and they both saw that Valerie's mobile Solar System was falling to the floor. "Oh no! Bi..." Valerie began to shout and wanting to summon Bike to help them out, however just Daphne quickly stepped in front of her "Live it with me!" Daphne shouted "Oh?" Valerie then answered back to her. Then Valerie witnessed something magical, Daphne pointed her right hand towards the falling Solar System and a yellow coloured light appeared it slowing down and gentely placing it on the floor. "Wow that was amazing Daphne! Thank you ever so much!" Valerie happily thanked Daphne, "Oh no problems, glad i could help, now lets see what caused it to fall down!" Daphne kindly said offering to help Valerie fix the model. They walked over to find that the hook had snapped "Oh bother!" Valerie quickly mumbled "Oh no, i can fix that for you if you like?" Daphne asked as she placed some of the model planets in her hands. "Oh you don't have to do that Daphne, you have been so helpful already, i'll fix it in my human way although i'm sure it would be amazing to have fairy powers!" Valerie happily said to Daphne, Daphne laughed "Are you sure? Happy to help, at least give me a shout when you want to get it up on the ceiling again, how did you get it up there anyway?" she asked in question. Valerie simply looked over towards Bike who was still miniaturized on the desk, she didn't want to lie to the Professor as she wanted to remain open and honest. She felt a bonding friendship forming and warmth from Daphne, so Valerie decided that it was time that at least someone in this school can know about her magical vehicle. The Professor already knew she was human for goodness sake! Valerie took a deep breath and began to speak "Daphne, let me introduce you to Bike!". On command Bike did a few shapeshifting tricks, inlarged itself along with miniaturizing becoming all sorts of things from a large boat to a small thimble. "Wow! So your Bike can do all that? That's incredible!" Daphne happily said with out suspicion to Valerie "So you do have your own magic, a magic of a different kind!". Valerie smiled and sighed in relief "Thats not all in can do but i'll save that for when the students arrive!" Valerie stated to Daphne. Daphne nodded with a smile and almost forgot why she came to see Valerie in the first place "Oh by the way, the reason why i came to see you was to inform you that the students are beginning to arrive and whether or not you would like to come and meet them?" asked Daphne. Valerie immediatley agreed as she was so excited to meet the students and more fairies. Her earrings started to then glow and then what looked like fireworks on her dress that she was wearing began to move "Am i seeing things?" Daphne asked "The pictures on your dress just moved and your earrings began to glow!", "Magical don't you think!" Valerie simply told Daphne.
Back to the present, she grabbed all the teaching material that she needed for her first day including a role with names of the fairies who would be attending each class. She smiled at the students who past her. They all looked at her strangly but she didnt care, she received the same looks back on Earth. The school bell rang as she approached the door to her classroom "Here we go!" she said softly as she began to turn the knob. She stepped in quietly and the noise of chatter from her students died down. "Good Morning Class!" Valerie happily said to the class on her arrival, the students slowly responded "Good Morning Professor!" along with a few giggles. Valerie walked towards the front of the class and placed her books & stationary she was carrying gentley on the desk "Oh how wonderful it is to be teaching you, i am Professor Valerie Frizzle your new Human Science Professor" she announced to the class.
