Chapter 8

Time for a Transformation

I had just got back to Alfea from visiting home and what a wonderful few weeks break i had! Before heading home i had sent an email to Dorothy-Ann requesting to catch up along with Keesha, Phoebe and Wanda...oh and also Jyoti and thankfully she said that they all would love to catch up. However she did say that Jyoti was holiday-ing aboard and will not be able to make it. I had immediately emailed her back giving her a day and time which was all fine with them. That day finally came while i was visiting Walkerville and we all caught up in a local cafe (i left Goldie at my Mother's). Wearing my rainbow dress, I was delighted to catch up with Dorothy-Ann, Keesha, Phoebe and Wanda again! They are all in in high school now, 17 year olds, can you believe it and the perfect age for them to enter Alfea. That's if they accepted my offer.

"How are you Professor Frizzle?" Phoebe asks in a gentle voice, "I am fantastic Phoebe!" I answer back to her happily with a big grin on my face. I asked around the circle how everyones studies were going and if they have caught up with any of the boys who were in my same class like Tim, Ralphie, Carlos and Arnold. Wanda mentions that she saw Arnold recently and Keesha said she saw Ralphie at a soccer match the other day. "No news on Tim or Carlos?" i ask the girls, but all of them informed me that the last time they saw them was at school a week ago "Oh well when you next saw them, tell them i say hello!" i kindly ask. As we all sipped our drinks and nipped on our pieces of cake, Phoebe, DA, Keesha and Wanda all turn to face me "It's so nice to catch up, tell us Professor, what have you been doing lately? Your emailed sounded urgent!" asked DA "Yeah anything magical?" then asks Wanda. I was so excited, i was almost jumping out of my skin finally one of them asks! "Your earrings...you earrings just lit up see that hasn't changed!" Keesha observes. "Well girls, not sure if you are going to believe this but i now teach at a school for fairies!" i excitably tell them, everyones faces dropped "You teach at the school for fairies?" they all yell in shock. I had to tell them to quiet down as onlookers from other tables were staring. "Shhhh, yes its true ladies! What say we get out of here and find somewhere quiet and i will explain how it all started!" I suggested to the girls, they agreed and Phoebe suggested that we go to Walkerville Gardens which was close by. Once we all got there and found a nice quiet patch of grass, i told them everything, they even asked me if i used any magic and i simply told them "Yes! With the help of Bike my Magic Motorbike as Fiona was still currently using the Magic School Bus for her classes field trips!". "Ohhh i still remember those days when you use to take us on fields trips on the Magic School Bus!" expressed DA as she looked up towards the sky. Now was my chance to give them my invitation to come back to Alfea with me as my guests and to help me teach. I go in for the kill! "Pardon me girls but i have something to ask...". Guess what they said yes! However they did inform me that they could only be there for one day as the new school term was approaching. I was cool with that and understood. After explaining the why's and how's and all about Alfea College for Fairies, that evening i rang Head Mistress Faragonda and explained that my guests will be coming during the first week of term but only for one day. Faragonda replied informing me it was ok and that she was looking forward to meeting my human ex-students.

So that was last week and Goldie and i have come back to Alfea ready and excited for the new term. Esspecially for the arrival of Wanda, Keesha, DA and Phoebe's visit this week. Everything has been arranged for their visit even a magical portal was ready for their transport from Earth thanks to the kind Professor Paladium. It was nice to be back at Alfea again. I caught up with Daphne at the teachers welcome back dinner who told me all about Domino's Royal Garden Party that she attended with her sister Bloom during the holidays "I would love to visit your home planet Daphne, it sounds so magical!" i say to her happily. She smiles and simply says to me that i was welcome to visit anytime "and how were your holidays Valerie, how as going back to your home?" Daphne asks. I was very happy to inform her that going back to Walkerville for the holidays was great and that i successfully have 4 of my ex-students coming to Alfea for a day this week "You must be so pleased!" she says to me postioning her hands in a pray like pose. I nodded with a big smile on my face. I also told her that i had another suprise but she will have to wait, as i haven't tested it yet "Um...ooookkkk" she says to me suspeciously.

So what's my other surprise? Well also during the holidays i had been doing some tinkering on Bike. Do you remember when i was reading that book before the holidays when Faragonda came and spoke to me in my room? Well all i could think about was what would it be like to be a fairy? Yes i am only human with no genuine powers but not one everyday human has a Magic Bike to assist them! In past i use to use the Magic School Buses magic to turn myself and others into reptiles, bees, sea creatures, plants and even salmon (well haven't become a salmon YET). Bike uses that same very magic and after doing a few upgrades and tinkering with it, i think i might have managed for it to give me a pair of real fairy wings. Just need to test it out. I'm so excited! Today luckily was a day when all the students were returning to Alfea and there were no classes so i thought it would be a great day to test this out. Goldie and i went down to the shed where Bike was kept. It beeped a happy tone on our arrival. "Hello Bike, today's the day we are going to try your new powers, time for a transformation!" i quietly say to my magical vehicle. Goldie lepped onto the Bike "Oh no Goldie careful you do not want to be caught up in this test! You might become a fairy pet! Although a pair of wings would look cute on you!" i told Goldie. She didn't like the idea so she quickly jumped off Bike and stood a few meters away. "Ok Bike, do your stuff!" i shouted as i stepped in front of the motorbike with my hands out and closing my eyes. Suddenly i feel myself being lifted into the air and been forcefully spun around gentlely. Then i began to feel a sensation on the my back, like something was trying to escape before shortly feeling my feet back on the ground "Did it work?" i ask Goldie and Bike while still with my eyes closed. Goldie made a monkey noise that sounded promising and Bike beeped its horn. I opened my eyes and something did happen, i was now wearing a different outfit as i looked down at myself. Goldie kindly handed me a mirror that she somehow had "Thank you Goldie!" i say as i thanked her. My new outfit beared a long, puffy, layered, long-sleeved green dress, a pair of magenta ballet flats on my feet and butterfly earrings, while my hair was in my signature bun. "Ok half way there all looking good! Now lets see if we are complete!" i say out loud as i move my right hand towards my back. Slowly moving my hand i begin to feel something that wasn't there before "Oh Yes!" i screamed with joy before i spun my head around as far as i could to check out the view. "I have wings! I have wings! Bike we did it!" i yell excitedly to Bike. Goldie i think got a little cross with me as she punched my foot gentley "Oh sorry Goldie and you too!" i say to the monkey as i go to pick her up to cuddle her. Bike magically made the hand held mirror into a full length mirror "Oh thanks Bike great idea! Now i can really check myself out!". There i was wings and all "I cannot believe it! I'm, i'm a fairy! I look gooood!" i said complementing myself "I cannot wait to show everyone! Including DA, Wanda, Phoebe and Keesha when they arrive in 2 days time!". I managed to turn myself back into human with the help of Bike simply saying the command "Wings in!". It was upset that i didn't spend longer time in my new fairy form "Sorry Bike, lets play again later i think some of the students are beginning to arrive and i better be present plus i want to show Faragonda and the rest of the teachers before the students see me". I could see it understood and Goldie who was on my shoulder and i left the shed. As we walked towards the main courtyard in my head all i could think of was...i cannot wait to fly and use magic!".
