Chapter two:
Alphys turns in the darkness as she hears the door open. She knows that it can only be the five monsters who have been allowed to get inside.
Papyrus, Sans, Asgore, Mettaton, or Undyne.
Alphys tries to see if the monster will step into the light of the giant monitor. She finds that the other does indeed come into the light. She almost wants to sigh when she sees what persona Sans has.
The blue bandana, grey t-shirt, blue gloves, blue boots, dark blue shorts, and a tall stance.
Underswap Sans.
Alphys understands the whole Sans having multiple personalities, ones so strong they really affect how he sees the world. She is used to it though being called Undyne, because it's what Sans sees when in a Swap persona, does make her a little uncomfortable. "W-What can I-I help you with t-today?" She greets wanting to get it over with. She supposes that Underswap Sans is a little better than Swapfell Sans. Since Underswap Sans is nicer, than the more arrogant Swapfell Sans.
"Hey Undyne! Pappy asked me to drop this off." Sans hands Alphys a computer chip that she has been looking for. He doesn't know it in this persona, but other personas of Sans were helping in keeping an eye out for it.
Alphys blinks and gently takes it from him. She does admit as much as she has personas she hates, Sans is actually great at showing them off even changing his voice a little. "T-Thanks. I've been l-looking for this for a-awhile." She mentions and heads away putting it on a table deeper in the lab. She returns back to Sans. She is feeling a bit better about the visit now. "I-I had trouble a-as its super rare. Is t-there anything e-else?"
Sans shakes his head closing his eyes as he does so. "No. That's it." He tells her opening his eyes. "I'm glad Pappy could find it for you."
Though it wasn't Papyrus that found it...
Alphys pushes that thought away as it doesn't matter. She has the part and she doesn't have the heart to be rude, to point it out, so she continues playing along with Sans. "Y-Yes. It really m-means a lot t-to me." She sees a flash of pride on Sanss face.
"Well I should get to Alphys for training. Bye Undyne!" With that Sans races out of the lab.
Alphys lets out a breath then heads to get the project she needed that item for. She can let Undyne take things from here... If this persona lasts long enough for Sans to reach Undyne. She can at least free work on the project she got the part for.
Papyrus tries to find his brother before he goes for training. He likes to just make sure that he's okay. He tries Sanss Snowdin post not finding him there. He wanders by his puzzles just in case one of Sanss personas think that he has to work on them. He doesn't really mind as at least Sans is doing something.
Not to mention he is pretty clever with these things, even when in personas that focus on puzzles not science. He has never broken any of the puzzles, he even will fix it for Papyrus.
Papyrus uses that time to work on other puzzles or do some patrolling. He does occasionally help out his brother though also lets him be in the zone of work. He finds no sign of his brother at the puzzles. He is running out of time so he might as well call his brother. He does so then waits for him to pick up the phone.
"Hey Pappy!" Underswap Sanss cheery voice is heard as the phone is answered. He had answered it on the third ring.
"Hey brother. I was just checking on things. Where'd you go?" Papyrus does have a feeling about where Sans went; especially seeing as how he is in Underswap Sans. He does feel a little bad for others who can get called the wrong name in such a persona.
Not that there's anything that can be done about it.
So Papyrus can just be thankful that they tolerate it, as well as kind of just go along with it.
"Im actually at Alphyss doing training."
"Oh. Sorry to bother you. I might come watch." Papyrus can get his own training done when Sans heads home.
"Okay Pappy. See you later."
"See you later Sans." Papyrus hangs up then heads for Undynes home. He arrives and finds Sans in his Underswap Sans outfit. He watches him charge a dummy trying out a knock out technique to not kill.
"You can't always just knock them out. One day you could very well meet an enemy that you'll have to kill." Undyne tells Sans moving closer to him as their eyes meet. She is pretty good at acting it's all real despite a few things. Such as that she is called Alphys at these times, and that this persona is one of the ones that won't kill; though plenty of other personas will. She makes things look and sound convincing as if she is Alphys training Underswap Sans. She is training him though just not exactly how Sans sees it. She has told Papyrus that she is relieved that Sans hasn't actually killed, even though there are personas willing to do so, since the monsters have learned which ones are more violent; thus have been able to avoid any killings.
Monsters try to avoid fights with any persona that are willing to be violent. They've found that the personas won't seek out violence and death, instead saving it for if they initiate a fight.
Which has helped so much in avoiding as much violence and chance of a killing.
"My knock out technique can work. Just cage the enemy would be the next part. Killing isn't necessary."
Undyne sighs and shakes her head deciding to not say anything else, as she can't change his mind. She turns noticing Papyrus and gives him a wave. "Hey Papyrus!"
Sans turns and smiles at his brother before hurrying over to him. "I'm gonna be a royal guard member in no time Pappy!" He tells his brother happy and blissfully unaware of the truth.
The training is just to satisfy certain personas, plus to keep to the world Sans is seeing.
Undyne and Papyrus have no intentions of telling him. They aren't even sure if hed really believe multiple personalities.
Papyrus was told about the diagnosis though the personas came with an issue.
The doctor said the personas are too separated, that they just go through different ones unaware about living in the mind of one monster. He told Papyrus that if the personas knew of each other being there, or knowing any hint to the truth about all being a part of the multiple personality disorder of a single monster, then helping him would have been easier.
Thered be years of work to even try to give Sans a better idea of a normal life. Though Papyrus can't afford it so he just let Sans be himself... Even with different personalities.
Everyone just got used to it in the end, so Papyrus felt like it wasn't worth it to try to save up money to change things.
No matter to Papyrus though as he still loves Sans all the same.
Papyrus makes sure to not bring up the truth at all with Sans. He has even requested to others not to do so either. He told them he worries about what might happen to Sans's mental health if it is said.
Luckily everyone else has agreed to it and to just accept whichever persona Sans is in.
Papyrus does get worried some won't keep their word but so far it's all been good.
"Why don't you join us?" Undyne suggests to figure out if she'll do his training too, or if she'll do it later when Sans is elsewhere.
"Yeah Pappy!" Sans agrees with a nod. "I think you'll like it."
"Sure." Papyrus agrees knowing that this way he can stick by Sans after this. He can get a little protective of Sans due to the worry with his condition.
"Awesome!" Undyne grins understanding Papyrus's feelings about it all. She sees the two turn to her. "Lets get started then shall we?"
