"A splendorous ending for such spectacle. I can imagine great things that this young Trusdale will do in our academy, if he is exactly as Zane Trusdale is, we have possibly 2 great ace duelists appearing in Obelisk Blue in the first year." The blond man who wore lilac lipstick and wearing a blue authoritative jacket of the school commented proudly as he crossed his arms and made a few judgments from the young duelist. "A bit unclassy on using mere coin flip, but who can I judge if he can control the effects of his own luck? It's entertaining at least. So I will let this pass."

Crowler as the steamed teacher of Obelisk Blue always has standards as people who duels in the academy, he always judges his students on what they are lacking and what would be their strengths.

And judging by the little brother of the best duelist of the academy, Crowler had high expectations of the boy, and from the smile he had on his face, the little Trusdale actually met his expectations.

"I bet that this young boy managed to answer all the questions in 100% percentage of rights," Crowler smirked, but from the look at one of the proctors who avoid making eye contact, he didn't know how much angry he would be after knowing that Syrus didn't actually answer any question since he couldn't read without his reading glasses.

"Well at least I managed to pass, and different from the anime, I kinda feel awesome. But now that I have finished the writing exam and the practical exam… what the hell am I going to do now?" Syrus asked as he looked around and still seemed to be over the morning, he may have been one of the first students to make both exams… And it would take hours until Jaden appear and make the episode 1 roll.

As he walked by, Syrus felt a slight discomfort in his stomach.

"Blurg." His stomach was growling as he looked around. "Oh, that. I forgot to eat breakfast today… Well, a victory meal sounds great right now."

The Kaiba Dome seemed to be like a soccer stadium, it was enormous, it was difficult to see from all the students who came to try to pass over the year, and he couldn't help but feel pity for the students who couldn't pass.

"Man I wish they could at least play Yugioh Begining of the Destiny before coming here… That would give them ideas on how to pass the basics and join the academy." Syrus confessed the franchise tag force was the one who made him addicted to learning the rules and playing Yugioh games like crazy. "At least a Duel Links would make them learn as professionals."

The lonely walk over the corridors always made Syrus pass his time thinking inside of his own thoughts.

"Man, I'm glad Bandit Keith sold me this deck, and with the staple cards from the game shop, I managed to make a huge win in just a few turns. But still, I wish I had the forbidden lance, that way Desperado would have finished the game quicker than before. And there were so many other possibilities. Lunalight archetype would have crushed and made an OTK in the second round." Syrus reached his pocket and turned on at would be his own cellphone from the world. "And the worst part… this cellphone sucks, it doesn't have android, 4G, or even a good playlist to hear from this world. Man, what I wouldn't give to hear some actual Soundtracks from the game while dueling… playing in a real-life in this world without the themes sucked."

After minutes passing by Syrus finally found what he was looking for, the food court, with many possibilities of food trucks, and stands. His eyes sparkled as the smell of good food passed on his nostrils, something that he craved after a stressful morning.

"Welcome to Blue Eyes Burguer, where all the blue eyes are the best of the best and the meat is the best in the world, can I take your order?" An attendant on the balcony dressing in a white outfit with a cap that looks similar to the face of a blue eyes white dragon smiled at the boy who seemed to look carefully at the menu.

"So many jokes, but too hungry to say them…" Syrus mumbled as he looked at the possibilities of burgers and he couldn't help but ask. "Can I receive a discount if I say Wheeler is a duelist of the third category?"

The attendant gasped as she looked at the boy with sparkles in her eyes.

"The secret password." The girl seemed to clap her hands excited, which made Syrus's eyes twitch… "You now can have double of everything you ask for free."

"I was joking," Syrus murmured as he pinched his nose looking annoyed. "Well, it's great anyway. I want a double dragon spirit of white without pickles and a chaos max dragon with bacon. And a bottle of cola would be nice."

"Alright, it will be 12 dollars." The attendant smiled at the boy who took from his pocket a good Alexander Hamilton dollar and gave it to the cashier who smiled at him. "Wait for a while as we are preparing your order. And remember Blue eyes are always better than red eyes. That's our motto."

"I bet 100 dollars that Kaiba is having his pride damaged after knowing that red eyes are developing such powerful fusion monsters that would make him actually make the life of Joey Wheeler a true hell." Syrus decided to make himself comfortable as he sat in a chair waiting for his order to be ready. "Well… this is my life now…"

Not taking so long, the boy actually managed to take his order and went back to the podium to entertain himself while having breakfast.

Watching beginners using their vanilla cards to win against proctors using a borrowed deck is something that doesn't seem that attractive, even if was holographic monsters, it was the only entertainment that Syrus was going to have.

"I can't believe it Bastion Misawa managed to answer 98% of the test correctly, that boy must have a collection of cards on his house just to study all the effects." A boy who was sitting on his front was talking to a friend of his, as Syrus slightly glanced at the boys from the corner of his eyes, and ate one of his burgers.

"Yeah, but now we must see how he will react against the proctor." The other boy replied as Syrus looked over the field, it seems that there was quite some time for the proctors to call the names of the applicants. It was the only entertainment that he was going to have.

Syrus shook his head slowly, as he watched the duels and ate his brunch.

At the time Syrus was finishing his last hamburger, he could see the familiar scene from the first episode where he remembered correctly from the original series, he remembered that Bastion would actually use a trap card making both him and the proctor lose their life points and since the future Ra student had more life points, it was sure that winning using such risk move was actually quite smart for him.

Syrus was munching his hamburger until a sudden shout almost made him choke in his place.

"WOW, LOOK AT THIS" The voice of nobody less the main character of the series made a boy with light blue-haired punch his chest until by miracle managed to gulp the food which went into the wrong hole.

"Ah ah ah." Syrus glared at the excited boy as he wanted to kill him, but calmed down before drinking a bottle of soda to calm himself again.

The duo then continued to watch the duels.

Only one truly held their attention, though. The applicant of the duel in question had impeccably styled hair, with the back extending outward and curving slightly to the left. He carried an air of confidence in his circumstances.

Applicant: LP: 3200

Vorse Raider: 1900 ATK

Proctor: LP: 1900

Big Shield Gardna: 2600 DEF

Gear Golem the Moving Fortress: 2200 DEF

"Okay applicant, I got a multiple choice question for you" the proctor began, "You're facing down two monsters, do you A: Throw in the towel, B: Beg for Run home to mama?"

"I choose D: None of the above!" the applicant replied in an extremely posh British accent, "I activate my facedown card: Ring of Destruction! With this trap select one monster in attack position and destroy it! Then we both take damage equal to its attack points!" A collar circled by grenades appeared around Vorse Raider's neck. The collar started to glow before exploding, making everyone gasp in surprise at the destruction of Vorse Raider and wiping out the proctors' Life Points.

Applicant LP: 1300

Proctor LP: 0000

"Well played, applicant. Welcome to Duel Academy" the proctor congratulated as the applicant bowed.

"Honored to be a part of it."

"Wow, the last boy is really scary." The boy behind Syrus said as he glanced at him as nodded his head in agreement.

"Yeah that's Bastion Misawa, they said that he is the one with the highest score on the written exams".

"Wow damn, then he must be really smart, I just barely passed it", Jaden looked at him a little shocked, noticing that somebody actually made the test which for him was one of his weaknesses.

Syrus imagined how terrible and a burden the life of the main character would be, having such cliche like being the best duelist but against a writing exam, it would make him the most stupid student in the school.

"Well, I didn't even do the writing exam at all," Syrus said as the boy with brown hair lucked at him surprised. Syrus pointed at his own glasses. "I forgot my reading glasses at home, so I knew that it would be pointless to try to do a writing exam if I couldn't read."

"Oof, that sucks." The boy cringed which made Syrus smile from his reaction.

"Nah, I already accepted that this would have been a burden, but the practical exam was a breeze." Syrus said as he finished eating his own hamburger. "Oh, I'm Syrus Truesdale by the way..."

"My name is Jaden Yuki, nice to meet you. So Sy, did you win your match?" Jaden smiled at him.

Syrus nodded his head as he glanced at the podium, before cleaning his face with his sleeve.

"Yeah, Since I couldn't pass the writing exam, I needed to make a total victory which would make my value on the academy, since my brother is in the last year." Syrus doesn't remember how he introduced himself in the anime, but he shrugged off his thoughts, as he could see the excitement in the eyes of the elemental hero duelist.

"That's awesome, I hope you show me your deck later. Congratulations, I will pass as well at the moment I win my duel." Jaden pointed at himself smiling confidently as Syrus raised his eyebrow and looked at him.

"Well, you better warn the proctors, because you have 5 minutes to be in a duel or the practical exam will be over and you will be disqualified for not appearing at the podium.

"Wait WHAT?" Jaden shouted as he looked horrified by the news.

"You better hurry and go to the podium. I heard that the last-minute student would actually duel with the actual professor of the school and he would use his own personal deck to try to disqualify the last student who got late." Syrus took his own cellphone, which made Jaden panic, and jumps away from the place he was and start running at the podium. Leaving the boy alone again and sighing after witnessing such a scene. "The main character, everyone."

As he glanced around, especially at the section of the proctors and teachers, Syrus could see the scene which he could guess which one was… Doctor Crowler who was known to have an ego for having a p.h.d in duel monsters, was creating a scene, which Syrus could guess which one would be about… Jaden is on his black list during most episodes of the whole series.

"Well, since now I'm Syrus now, I need to interact with the other main characters…" Syrus took his trash and launched at the trash can and walk downstairs until he found the direction the last applicant was planning to sit. Taking off his duel disk he remained quiet in concentration. "The indestructible defense strategy is always easy to win against if you have very good burning effects cards."

"Burning?" The inquiring question made by the student in front of him made Syrus raise his eyebrow as he looked surprised at him.

"Burn strategy, using trap cards and monster effects to damage life points of the opponent without needing to attack… Oh, name Syrus by the way…" Syrus explained as he could hear the engines inside of the boy in front of him turn as he hummed interested in the conversation.

"Oh, so that's how they call it. And my name is Bastion Misawa. Yeah, I calculated all the possibilities and I think using the ring of destruction was the best way to finish the game as I played safe." The boy said as he felt satisfied with the results of his own calculations, and received a nod from the blue-haired boy.

"Well, you are lucky that you actually didn't get late, because from what I heard, the last student who appeared late will actually have to duel against the teacher of the academy, and from the look on his face, this teacher will go crazy and I bet that he will use his own personal deck."

"What? Isn't that against the rules?" Bastion asked surprised as he could see the fuming and confident smile from the obelisk blue teacher walking over the field.

"It would have been if the circumstances were actually normal since the applicant came almost too late, I think the major problem would be a lot of paperwork that they would need to fulfill after this is over." Syrus had a theory… if the later student doesn't pass the council wouldn't need to worry about paperwork, but if the late student passed, they would need to make the details of the duel known as they would have their pride damaged…"Yeah, Jaden was destined to be a headache to the teachers like Crowler at the moment he stepped inside of the podium."

Syrus could see Jaden was already waiting near the podium as the voice finally called his name.

"Jaden Yuki please direct yourself at the duel field number 4" The voice on the speakers finally called making the boy rush directly at the field.

"Well, this will be entertaining to watch," Syrus said as he sat on the side of the analytical duelist who nodded in agreement.

"Who do you think is going to win?" Bastion was already frowning as he made some deductions on which decks and how the duel would end with the professor's victory.

"Depends," Syrus said tirelessly… "Which archetypes they are going to use."

Bastion remained quiet, as they would see the teacher getting annoyed by the brown-haired boy on the field.

"Alright, I go first. Easy Peezie, I'm going to summon the elemental hero Avian in defense position" Jaden summoned at the field a human man dressed in feathers as he had his own wings almost looking like a superhero.

Elemental Hero Avian (Attack 1000 - Defense 1000)

"Oooooohhhh, vanilla Elemental Hero. The teacher will have a migraine on this duel." Syrus knowing how the show ended, it was best if he made his own reactions… And by the surprising look of Bastion, he knew that he got what he wanted.

"What do you mean?" Bastion asked as he tried to recall the archetype but he never heard about such a thing before.

"Heroes is treated a Meta…"

"Meta?"

"It's a deck which can be used in the current competitive use that is having the greatest success. Specifically, which kind of styles and strategies are the most dominant in their area of play." Knowing that Bastion never understood the actual concepts of yugioh duelists from the universe Syrus came in, he explained in a way that sparked a big interest in the boy on his side.

"Seriously? That seems really important." Bastion said as he from somewhere he took out a notepad and a pen and decided to describe the words Syrus just said. "So these heroes… are meta?"

"You have no idea, it's an archetype so big that could make at least 6 ot 7 different decks using the combinations of the monsters…" Syrus just 2 sentences but he could see the eyes of Bastion growing so big that you could see how shocked he is from knowing that. "And the most dangerous part… it's a whole fusion archetype… There are a lot of fusion cards and monsters that could save you from any kind of situation you have."

"That sounds illogical and absurd." The rational part inside of the smartest boy in the area said, which made Syrus nod his head to him.

"That's all the duelists said before dueling a hero deck… trust me, thousands prayed for the ban list of some of their cards…But since Jaden is using a vanilla version, Teacher Crowler has a chance…" Syrus watched the professor start his own turn. "And Bastion, trust me, at the moment the boy uses a polymerization, the teacher Crowler is done for, and losing by a card like that would make the teacher has such migraine that he would need medicine for it."

"I use the spell card confiscate." Crowler used confidently as he paid 1000 life points to choose one card from the hand of Jaden and destroy it making it directly to the graveyard. "Then I set two face downs on the field, and for last and still in time I will use heavy storm, making us destroy all the field magic and trap cards on the field."

"Why would you do that?" Jaden asked as everyone could see the area being surrounded by a dark grey mist creating an ominous feeling around him and the teacher. "What is happening?"

"Oh, nothing is happening… YET." Crowler raised his arms as two giant serpent statues appeared over the field making the crowd gasp in surprise. "But I'm going to change this at this moment."

The students around Syrus and Bastion were surprised to see the statues over the field.

"A double tribute summoning on the first turn." Syrus already guessed what was going to happen next, and receiving a nod from the smartest student around, he could see that Bastion was thinking the same as him.

"Yeah, if he has double summoning and uses a Monarc archetype, then this applicant would be done for." Bastion tried to guess the archetype of the most known teacher of the Duel's academy.

Syrus raised his eyebrow as he thought about it.

"Yep, 2 tributed Monarchs on the field would be the last thing I would want to receive in the duel. I would have to ragequit at the same moment." Syrus nodded his head. "But Jaden is lucky that Crowler wasn't using a Monarch Archetype but an…"

"And now I sacrifice my two Wicked Tokens to summon My Ancient Gear Golem." Crowler released his ace card over the field, making most students around gasp in surprise, both statues burned themselves and created what would be a Goliah made of old metal and rust, as the cyborg looks like a giant 5 meters high.

As everyone looked amazed and shouted how that card was legendary. Syrus raised his eyebrow.

"Wasn't that a structure deck on Duel Links? Why everyone is just surprised by one A.G Golem? Would they have a seizure if they see the A.G dragon? Or it's fusions?" Syrus remained quiet as he tried to remain quiet. Yugioh GX cast would actually freak out from all the broken cards of the future. And most of them are… for the misfortune of the teacher… a hero support.

"Well, I hope you are not afraid of my legendary Ancient Gear Golem." Crowler said as he felt confident about how screwed the applicant was…

"Are you kidding? I've always wanted to have one of these." But Jaden being Jaden, couldn't help but get excited to fight against a powerful monster. As the others couldn't help but gasp in shock at such an outrageous answer from the boy.

Syrus knowing how confident Jaden was at that moment, let it sink in what would be the best thought he had in mind.

"Jaden has a polymerization, doctor Crowler made a big mistake on not choosing it instead of monster reborn," Syrus said after making such an analytical breakdown strategy. "Jaden wants to stall time to win."

"Do you think so?" Bastion said after looking at the frown of his colleague, knowing that the applicant over the field would be in a terrible spot since the Ancient Gear Golem already used its strength and made the boy lose half of his life points because of the piercing damage effect. "Why do you think about that?"

"Because from hero vanilla archetype there are 3 powerful fusions which could turn the life of doctor Crowler a hell… And if he uses a field spell, then…I pity the next person who will talk to Crowler, he will be beaten down literally." Syrus couldn't help but drink more from his bottle and withness in firsthand.

"Alright, I summon Winged Kuribo in defense position." Jaden smiled as he proudly summoned a creature with sembled a little angel furball on the field. "And I will set a card down."

"Nice, he is stalling time, and with Winged Kuribo he cannot suffer damage at the battle phase when it's destroyed," Syrus commented, which made Bastion raise his eyebrow at him.

"You really know about the cards. I'm glad that there is another student who knows so much about the effects and strategies." Bastion couldn't help but be fascinated by the little boy who seemed to know so much about effects and strategies that even he didn't know about it. "I would like to exchange strategies with you at the Academy."

"That would be cool." Syrus agreed as both of them watched teacher Crowler use his own monster and fall for the bait which was Jaden's best support monster.

"By attacking my Winged Kuribo you activate my trap card, one of my favorites Hero Signal." Jaden activated the card over the field which sembled a signal which had an H over the shadows, as the lights over the card launched a signal that sembled a red H in the air. "And that would bring my second elemental hero, Burdinatrix."

As the field created a ring of fire, showing what would be an elegant yet badass superheroine, the flame showed a girl who was the meaning of fire, even if she was a vanilla card.

"Yep, Crowler's is screwed," Syrus said confidently, knowing from that scene of the first episode of GX. "Jaden searched the fusion material to summon one of the monsters who could easily win this duel."

"Really? How would he do that?" Bastion used his notepad to make all the analyses of traps that the applicant was using, he was learning it from another perspective which would be a great valuable lesson.

"Bastion, you used the ring of destruction to take both yours and the proctor's Life Points, however… how would you react if your monster is destroyed and only you would suffer the damage of life points from your own monster's attack?" Syrus knowing the ace monster from the first episode and one of the main reasons why everybody loved the hero archetype is coming.

"Is there a fusion that can do that?" Bastion couldn't help but ask in shock.

"From this archetype, there are 2 actually, but the most simple one is easy to do it, and if on the next turn Crowler doesn't have set a limit removal, then Jaden won the duel." Syrus noticed that indeed Crowler was a good duelist, but the big problem of this duel was… nobody knew how broken heroes were, and now they are going to learn that even the vanillas are the most dangerous when combined together.

"Firstly, I will bring back to my hand my elemental hero Avian by using the spell card The warrior returning alive. And then I summon him at the field." Jaden was focused on the last turn of the duel. "And then I use polymerization. Unite elemental Hero Avian and Burdinatrix to summon Elemental Hero Flame Wingman I hope your Ancient Gear Golem is ready for the clash of Titans."

Both warriors flew together as they combined into one being, a half wing on his left with a dragon's on his right hand. A superhero that could be coming from comics.

"There it is," Syrus said as Bastion looked in awe as the fusion monster appeared on the field.

"Oh Elemental hero Flame Wingman, now I get it. So this is the reason the archetype is treated as… what you call again?" Bastion as he was learning much, he forgot the easy ways Syrus described the best competitive games.

"Meta. And yes, Flame Wingman is a vanilla hero but his effects are broken when used right… By this moment Professor Crowler needs to protect his Ancient Gear Golem, because if he gets attacked, Jaden wins." Syrus knowing how dangerous Elemental heroes can be knows that the end of the episode was near.

"I agree with you, if this boy manages to use something that would make his Flame Wingman 1000 points stronger then the game is over. I bet that he has a field spell on his hands." Bastion now finally understanding the logical process of the duel, now could see how everything was going to end.

"Well bastion, you should try the lottery, because I think you are right." Syrus smiled at the next movement which Jaden placed the hateful and yet badass skyscraper field spell on the field. As the entire arena was dark as night, and the towers of skyscrapers managed to appear over the field, Syrus couldn't help but be in awe as he saw the holographic scene of Elemental Hero Flame Wingman above the skyscraper with both crossed arms, with a full moon behind him. It was a perfect scene for the badass hero.

"Alright Flame Wingman, show how our heroes are strong, go and attack the Ancient Gear Golem." Jaden confidently said as everyone looked shocked at how the end of the duel would be…

Jaden has won.

"Well, GG." Syrus was satisfied with the duel, as in the first episode, and was happy that everything went exactly like the show. And he was now part of the academy with the same student who is the main character.

"GG?" Bastion couldn't help but ask aloud, as Syrus got up from his seat.

"Good Game." Syrus decided to left as the spectators looked frenetic and crazy after watching Elemental Hero Flame Wingman destroy the legendary monster and finishing it with a Burning effect of 3 thousand points on the duelist with P.H.D.

Bastion watched Syrus leave, as he could see that indeed there would be strong duelists in the same academy as him, and he couldn't help but be excited to see who would be the best between them. As he watched the boy jumping happily that he got excited over the field.

After leaving the Kaiba Dome, Syrus went over to the bus stop to go back to his house and tell the news to his family, and prepare himself to buy the supplies to survive on Slifer Dorm since Professor Banner wasn't a that great chef and Syrus would need to sleep with other 2 guys at the same room? Yeah, maybe it was for the best if was the red cap boy and lived in his own room.

Sighing he decided to await the bus…

"Now that I think about it… I wonder how is Bandit Keith after I bought his deck from him." Syrus wondered as he looked around…

"COME ON, COME ON." A gruff voice shouted as the time he was looking at the screen.

"It's unbelievable, Lucky shot is taking some ground while Black Storm is still the leader, but at the six curves Lucky shot is already taking some peace, he was crossing and passing the third and second position.

"COME ON, GALLOP YOU AMERICAN STALLION." The voice of the bandana man shouted as he was taking the attention over the man around him, but didn't care since he was feeling the excitement… His horse was in the last spot, but he managed to come back in the most impressive way. He galloped like he was flying. "COME ON LUCKY SHOT."

"Look at Lucky Shot is already taking his speed, it's head ahead with Black Storm, neither of them is going to give up, oh luck at that, Black Storm slipped over the mud, making Lucky shot already take the lead."

"YES, YES, YES." Bandit Keith was tightening his hands as he felt his heartbeats like a machinegun.

"And the final curve, Lucky Shot seems like a machine, nothing can stop him, and from the lead, he was taking, it's over everyone. We have a miracle, a zebra, a black horse that nobody could have imagined winning the race after 10 times being in the last place."

"YES, I WON." Bandit Keith shouted at the sky, after finally betting all his money, even selling how to own deck for a loser boy, he managed to win big, it was the biggest score he ever imagined to have. A horse of 1/30, it was something that he never thought he would happen to win. "That's how we win, Bandit Keith style."

Now that he glanced at the future as he took off his black sunglasses, he smiled at the balcony, feeling that his luck was changing for the better.
