As the class resumed their lunch break, the students awaited the arrival of their teacher, and they weren't disappointed, since the next teacher of the academy, appeared with her elegant variation of the standard Obelisk uniform from the girls' dormitory, consisting of a white jacket with blue trim, a pink skirt, and heeled boots colored brow.
"Good morning class. My name is Professor Fontaine and I will be your teacher for the rest of the period." The woman said happily as the group of girls smiled happily at their dorm representative as the boys looked at their professor in love. "And for today I'm going to make you all have the most important lesson from your entire life. Volleyball."
As the students seemed too eager and curious to know what the teacher was implying by the important lesson, all students suddenly went down to their spots and slam their faces on the desk after the teacher smiled at them as she told them about their activities wouldn't be related to duel monsters, but to a Volleyball.
"Now, let's go to change our clothes at the gym restroom and get ourselves prepared for Physical Education, everyone." Professor Fontaine smiled as the group of boys seemed eager to get up from their sits and go with her, as the girls were already used to knowing the character of their professor.
As the group of students was leaving the classroom, Jaden and Chumley were looking around trying to find what would be the third member of their trio.
"Where is Syrus?" Chumley was trying to look around, but nobody was there, and Jaden was confused as well. "Do you think he forgot the time and he is still eating outside?"
"Maybe that's the reason. Sometimes I eat so much that I lost track of the time." Jaden accepted the reasoning as the duo followed the group of students as well.
Into the corner of the stairs two corridors away from everyone else, Syrus was sitting on the steps as he was checking the cards he had just obtained, enjoying the time eating the sandwiches that came with them. As he separated the cards of the structural he bought from the known duelist Bandit Keith, and with the extra cards from the boosters, he started his deck building. He used the time to develop three deck cases.
"Okay, I think it should be fair if I use this deck firstly to test their strength, in case of any problems in the future, I can use this deck and depend on the case of someone annoying me too much, this is best I could do to develop the deck. It's far from meta, but if I buy more cards I can make it work." Syrus ate his sandwiches, and after cleaning up himself and placing his three decks in his pocket, Syrus decided to make a terrible mistake, he looked at the PDA of the academy. "OH CRAP THE BREAK WAS OVER TEN MINUTES AGO."
After running over to the classroom he noticed that nobody was there anymore.
"What the…" Syrus went over the PDA again and checked who would be the teacher. And to his surprise was nobody less than the Physical Education Professor Fontaine. "Okay, gym. Got it."
"Where did Syrus go?" Jaden was in the front line of students who dressed in the academy uniform for sports, a mix of blue and white colors. And with his own eyes was looking around trying to find his friend.
As Jaden was trying to remain on his spot, he didn't even imagine that inside the boy's cabin, there was a teacher who was doing his best to sabotage him and trying to find ways to get the Slifer student a reason to be expelled.
Moving his head outside of the lockers, Professor Crowler sneaked himself over to the gym's locker room and opened every locker, he wasn't even checking the students' names over the lockers, but trying to implement the bait into somewhere on Jaden's has been.
"Now, I just need to place the bait somewhere Jaden certainly will find it." Crowler opened all the lockers until he found a familiar pair of shoes, which all of them seemed to be red but in his special way it looked more like boots, it was a recognizable way to know from the usual uniform shoes which the students uses.
"Aha, his shoes." Placing the letter with a lipstick mark on top, Crowler was satisfied with the bait he has planted over the field. And grinning satisfied he left the locker room as he plan to see later the results of his evil plans.
As the group of boys and girls was separated between periods, the group of boys was the first who felt ready when the professor of Physical Education appeared in her uniform of workout.
"Hello boys, as you heard before, I'm Fonda Fontaine and I will be your teacher of Physical Education this semester. Are you ready to sweat?"
"HOLD UP! HOLD UP, PLEASE! DON'T START WITHOUT ME!" Suddenly a shout made the group look at the boy who seemed to get in there but still with his usual uniform.
"Syrus, you made it." Jaden said as he looked surprised as his friend came quickly but still was taking deep breaths and cleaning his face with sweat.
"Oh." Professor Fontaine looked surprised that she never thought that the boy she found in the morning come late to her class. "You are a late young boy, and you are not using the gym uniform."
"I'm sorry Professor Fontaine, I was having lunch at the card store, but I lost track of the time. This isn't going to happen again, I promise." Syrus sincerely said as he was taking deep breaths and recovering after rushing towards the gym.
"Alright, I will let this one pass today since it's the first day, you can change yourself since you already did the warm-up, but you are going to have more struggle when it comes to the workout I'm going to do with them." Professor Fontaine said, smiling at them. Everyone shivered, suddenly feeling in danger, not knowing how much they were going to suffer doing exercises. Cyrus nodded his head in eagerness, totally missing the feeling.
"It's fair, thank you Professor Fontaine." Syrus accepted the punishment, since he guessed she would do that to him. He would struggle for sure, but Cyrus always did workouts, and he liked challenges like these.
After reaching the locker room, Syrus went to the locker who was with his name on the corner at the bottom. Surprised that the way the locks were named from the name of the students at the corner of the locks.
But after opening the lock, Syrus found a pair of boots which was familiar with a friend he uses all the time.
"Huh, Jaden must have used my lock by mistake, wait for a second, what is that?" Syrus went over the letter that was above the pair of boots. "Why am I getting a feeling of deja-vu? Well, let me see it."
Syrus opened the letter as he maybe thought it would have been a communication from directory for all the students giving instructions of the uses and the ways of how to use the locker, which that would be really convenient, since it was supposed to be the essential part of the first day of class. But the letter itself sound different than most of he thought it was. With an obvious lipstick mark over the letter.
"A red lipstick? It doesn't make sense… Ohhhh, maybe it was Professor Fontaine that wrote the letter making the rules of the lockers? Yeah, that would make sense. But, what's with the lipstick?" Syrus nodded to himself and decided to read the letter, but the content inside of it surprised him in the most strange way. "Since the first moment I saw you, I fell in love with you. Find me behind of Obelisk Girl's dormitory tonight, with best regards… Alexis Rhodes!? What the hell!?"
Syrus shouted surprised from the content of the letter, and all the content he remembered from the Yu-Gi-Oh franchise was put on test on that moment.
"No, no, no, no, no, there is no way... It's too early... Jaden hasn't saved of anything dangerous yet, didn't make her get jealous from Blair who came on the next season, and Yubel didn't appear yet, the ship wasn't even created after the… episode three…"
Suddenly everything made sense in that moment, the wake-up call hitting him hard. Syrus was late, he opened the letter, he was fool enough to think Alexis was in love with him but the letter was above Jaden's boots… it was a reason for Jaden to duel with Alexis by nobody less than… "Crowler."
Syrus venomously hissed angrily the name as he contained himself, he wasn't the target, he was collateral damage.
"Okay, classes first, focus on the letter later." Syrus took off his clothes and decided to move Jaden's clothes to the lock who had his name, preparing everything while he changed his clothes, and then went back to the class.
"Alright boys, keep sweating, you just need more ten laps and we will start with the warm-up." Professor Fontaine said excitedly as many boys from the class shouted in fear and disbelief.
"Ten more!?" All the boys couldn't keep up with their bodies since most of them were sweating and getting exhausted from running just 5 laps, and now having to use more than 10 would make them actually unable to keep doing the rest of the class.
"Yeah, and then we can follow up with warm-up to start playing Volleyball." Professor Fontaine smiled sweetly as she saw the horror on the faces of the new students dying from inside. And at the moment she glanced to her side, she noticed the late student appeared ready for the section. "Oh so are you ready?"
Syrus noticed the boys are being worn out from running so much, he could see that Professor Fontaine was doing her best to make all the students make exercises. Her smile grew further when Syrus nodded to her without opening his mouth.
"Good, the boys are doing fifteen laps for a warm-up before we start playing volleyball, so I think you should run five more laps to make it worth your late arrival, and be ready to train all the parts of your body for the game," Fontaine instructed as she pointed at the boys who seemed tired to keep running, but it was fine since Syrus went over the field and started running as well.
After crossing a few laps, Syrus managed to keep with his friends as they were exhausted after eight laps.
"Where were you, Sy?" Jaden said as he was sweating a lot but was worried more about his friend who got late on the class.
"Lost track of the time while eating." Syrus replied as he was starting to sweat after his fifth lap, and Chumley was more walking instead of running, since he lost the power of his lungs and was too tired to say something.
"Ah, uh, ah, ah." The gasps from the chubby Slifer was enough to say that he was at his limit, and yet was paying attention of the conversation.
"By the way Jaden, you let your clothes in my lock by accident, I moved your clothes to the lock that had your name at the bottom." Syrus didn't waste time as he made known to his friends how it worked the locks of the academy.
"Wow, didn't know we have locks with our names." Jaden replied surprised which made Syrus nod his head to him.
"I thought so, but now let's focus into finishing our warm up, and prepare for the volleyball." Syrus replied as his both friends groaned painfully as they imagined the suffering of doing more laps. Syrus didn't think twice and took off his gym jacket and launched away at the side, which made Professor Fontaine surprised, and decided to give a boost. "You guys are on lap ten, I'm going to speed up."
And with that, Syrus started to run as fast as he could.
Syrus' feet went more firm as he felt the breeze from his face, ignoring the group of the students around him, he always loved to list one music when he used the gym and go faster on the running machine.
Running is always focused into 3 things, control of breathing, hydration and strong mind to keep running, even after exhaustion.
"Run." Syrus replied as he remembered the catching song on his mind, and the time he kept running, it wasn't the fact that he was the faster of the group, because he knows that his body was smaller and slower than most of the guys, but the resolve on his mind can make his focus on his stamina, marathons athletes focus mostly on keeping the speed instead of always focusing to be faster than the others, so using the same resolve, Syrus kept running even after he the group of students of Ra and Obelisk managed to finish thirteen laps, and he was still on his twelfth lap.
Surprising most of the students who were exhausted and kept running through the field. "Six more laps. Break I know you. Break I know you, Break I know you."
"This boy is something, indeed." Professor Fontaine was indeed surprised, she looked at the blue haired boy that even if was still at the speed of mostly of students was at the start, was surprised by one simple fact. "He knows how to control his breath and maintain his stamina, maybe that's why he was more receptive with the punishment."
She stood next to the jacket the boy left launched on the field, and decided to not let the uniform get dirty staying in the floor too much, taking the jacket she suddenly felt something on the left pocket of the jacket, which made her curious.
Many thoughts raced in her brain, usually would be candies, paper tissues to clean noses or sweat, but never in her mind she expected to see a letter inside of the pocket.
"A letter?" The teacher asked surprised from the piece of paper on the pocket of the young boy, and the lipstick mark on the letter was enough for her to realize that the little boy was being a crush of a girl. "Ohhhh, lets see who is the girl."
Professor Fontaine shamelessly checked the other pocket which made clear that her assumptions was on spot… but for the first time she never thought that the new protégée and the possible the best student from her dorm Alexis Rhodes was the girl who gave such love letter to the young blue haired boy.
"Oh look at that. The smell of a young love in the air. But rules are rules, and I must make sure that both students knows the consequences of trying to break the rules of the academy." Professor Fontaine while she loves the good idea of a young romance, she is determined to make sure that everything would follows exactly like the rules. Especially since appearing at the girls dorm at night without her permission would make a good reason to expel a student.
After minutes all the male students managed to finish the insane warm up over running the laps. Which lead not just some, but many students like Chumley and Jaden, drop down and lay at the floor to rest. Syrus was sweating buckets as even him was winded.
"Great job boys, now that you all finished the warm up. I'm going to give you all 8 minutes of rest for we start our Volleyball practice." The groaning from all the students was enough to make her giggle happily. "And don't worry, you will have time to recover your breath. Just try to not overwork yourselves. You already did too much, I will go to the other side of the gym and start making the girls have their own warm up. And Syrus?"
The boy who was still recovering his breath raised his eyes surprised at the sudden call from the teacher.
"Professor?"
"Come here please." The sudden call from the teacher made Syrus look at her before gulping down his saliva, throat suddenly feeling dry. Most of the students were curious, but since all of them were exhausted from running, they decided it wasn't worth it to even look.
Syrus went to the teacher, and suddenly his eyes went wide open when he saw that she was carrying his jacket and 2 pieces of paper, the letter he found…
"Fuuuu..." Syrus said earning a glance from the teacher, which made him compose himself. "Teacher why are you holding my letter?"
"That's what I'm going to ask…" Professor Fontaine remained professional, which made Syrus curse his luck. "I'm curious on how did you receive the letter."
"I found it in my lock." Syrus decided to spill the beans and didn't say the name of his friend Jaden since it could lead to a disaster if he got involved into that.
"Oh…then she broke inside of the boys locker room…" Fontaine frowned as she murmured to herself making Syrus barely be able to hear her voice. "It's exactly the opposite of the main reasons of suspicions at the academy, mostly it would be the boys doing that… But now we have girls doing that? I need to warn Principal Sheppard on this regard…"
"Err… Professor Fontaine." Syrus decided to try to take his gym jacket but Professor Fontaine was faster and grinned at him.
"I have to say that I like a good romance Syrus Truesdale, but I advise you to not break the rules like the letter says, I will have a talk with Mr. Rhodes about the regard, and while I find cute two students to meet at night, at my dorm I don't want romance at my area when the rules are in risk to get broken. Am I clear?"
"Wait teacher, Ale…" Syrus noticed that Alexis was going to be blame for one mess up Professor Crowler did, and he wanted to intervene, but the Professor's eyes getting cold and glare made him shut his mouth.
"Am I clear?" Her tone became so cold that Syrus, even after years of experience in martial arts, knew danger when he saw it, so he remained quiet and nodded to her. Making her smile sweetly again. "Good. I'm going to watch the girls make their warm up laps, and I will have a talk with Miss Rhodes. Have a good rest and enjoy the game of Volleyball."
"Yes teacher." Syrus remained quiet, as he saw her leaving… "Yep, I don't want to be near to Alexis when she finds out that she was blamed by something she didn't do."
"What did you say?" Alexis looked at her own representative teacher who seemed to show a serious face to her.
"Like I said Miss Rhodes, while I value your desire to be in love with another student, I cannot accept that you are going to break the rules and settle your romance at front of our Obelisk Dormitory at night." Professor Fontaine remained professional even explaining the clearly rules of the academy to a student who seemed to don't understand the concept of how to romance at the academy.
"Professor, while I want to remain as respectful as possible… did you lose your mind?" Alexis asked as she couldn't believe the things she was hearing from her own teacher, and with both Jasmine and Mindy looking at each and other in conflict wasn't helping her case at all. "I don't understand why are you telling me this."
"Oh ho ho…" Professor Fontaine laughed as she grinned evilly. "So that's you want to play? Okay, here is a letter a student found on his lock at the boys locker room. Since it's your first day at the academy, I'm going to let it pass but I'm going to warn you that if you get inside of boys locker room again be ready to get a suspension for breaking the rules of the academy, and the same thing I said to the young Truesdale. I'm going to say to you. While I find cute two students to meet at night, at my dorm I don't want romance at my area when the rules are in risk of being broken."
"Teacher what the hell are you talking about. I never got inside of the boys locker room. Wait, Syrus Truesdale? You are misunderstanding everything." Alexis noticed that Professor Fontaine was indeed talking seriously and noticed that even she didn't do anything wrong, she was being affronted by the teacher, which made her get angry and yet anxious.
"Oh yeah? Then what about this letter?" Professor Fontaine took 2 pieces of paper and showed at the blond student who seemed confused about everything what happened. But seeing a lipstick mark on the paper she knew something was wrong.
Taking a glance of the content, she started to read.
"Since the first moment I saw you, I fell in love with you, find me behind of Obelisk Girl's dormitory tonight, with best regards… Alexis Rhodes!? What the hell!? I didn't write this letter! Professor Fontaine, I swear I didn't write this." Alexis actually begged to her teacher who seemed surprised from her tone of voice, and the girls who seemed behind her to actually read the letter as well, they looked even more surprised by one thing.
"What audacity, this isn't even your handwriting, Alexis." Jasmine said as she pointed the corners of the handwrite and walked to the teacher. "Professor Fontaine, Alexis's handwriting is totally different from this one, while this looked classy and elegant, this isn't her handwriting."
"Yeah, here let me prove you. Alexis…" Mindy came with a pen and with a notepad on her pocket which made the duo look at her surprised. "What? I want to ask cuties her P.D.A numbers, so I have just in case. But now Alexis."
Alexis nodded, and using her handwriting, she wrote a single sentence.
Which made Professor Fontaine take both the letter and the notepad, and glance better the handwriting…
'The curve of the s and the t are different from the letter, and every time she used an I, the dot on the i was in diagonal on the right, making a different flow from the letter.'
"Okay girls I believe in you… but now we have a case into our hands. Somebody is breaking the rules and is using you as scapegoat." From the idea surging on her mind, Professor Fontaine didn't like the idea of someone breaking the rules, and the trio who seemed to glance at each and other, they knew what to do at the moment they find the person who did that to one of them. "I suggest you say that to the young Truesdale. He will be devastated into hearing that someone impersonated you, and wanted to make him break the rules by using you as bait."
"Are you sure that it wasn't him, Professor?" Jasmine couldn't help but ask, she wasn't found about the idea of a young boy like she meet at the morning to actually talk to Alexis that way, and she knew while the logic was flawed, it wouldn't hurt into thinking in reality.
"Well, if you think a boy would actually use a lipstick and kiss his own letter and has a great handwriting into trying to make a letter seems like coming from a girl and purposely put the letter on his own lock, to then place into his own jacket pocket and launch the jacket to the floor for me purposely find the letter? I have to say that it was indeed an imaginative way to place blame into someone." From the tone of voice and the step by step she said how the boy did it made Jasmine actually think twice before saying something further.
"Yeah, it looks stupid and too much trouble for that, and the boy didn't have reason for that. Alexis was the one who got angry with Syrus and not the other way around." Jasmine had to confess, the little boy actually even looking and acting like a jerk didn't have a reason to create such problem to her friend, Alexis would be the one who would try to make something difficult for the boy, and not the other way around.
"Okay, Professor Fontaine, I'm going to talk with Syrus after class." Alexis had to admit that she was indeed both frustrated and wanting to finding who was behind all that mess.
"Okay." Professor Fontaine nodded as the corner of her smile raised a little. "Well since this problem was resolved, you three can go back at the warm up and have more eight more laps."
The groaning of the trio was song on her ears, as she watched the entire Obelisk girl dorm running laps on the class.
Hours passed by fast, since Professor Fontaine was the last teacher of the day, she wanted to make sure the first day of class ended with a good taste on her student's mouths.
"Alright Class, I'm glad that you all got the energy and did your best to make sure that all your body could keep with this exercises, we are going to make this as routine for all of you during day after tomorrow. But until then, have a good shower everyone and have a good night of sleep." Professor Fontaine used her sweet smile as she glanced that mostly of her class was laying down on the floor, defeated and without the energy to move their bodies. Just some of the students seemed to be okay to keep up by doing that, almost one third of the class seemed to be okay and go directly at the lock room to change themselves.
Syrus seemed to be cleaning the dust of his clothes, even if his body was sore after working out so hard, he didn't seem quite the opposite, he had a satisfied smile on his face.
"Man, I forgot how fun volleyball actually was. Still, I prefer running, but it's a good change of pace." Syrus mumbled as he glanced at both of his friends who seemed to be so exhausted that they couldn't even move. "Guys, it's time for a shower and then go back to the dorm."
Syrus walked at the duo who seemed to be breathing hard and sweating buckets at the floor.
"Come on guys, it wasn't that bad," Syrus said as he kicked slightly at the left side of the tummy of his Australian friend. "Chumley, let's go, you can't stay there all day."
"Please Syrus, let me have some minutes of rest, look at Jaden." Chumley pointed at his friend without even moving his head, he was sure that the person next to him was in a worse state than him, and it was correct. Jaden was actually sleeping on the dirty floor from exhaustion.
Syrus wanted to help them both, but knowing that they would be stuck there like mules, so he decided to not even try it.
"Alright, do what you want. I will take a shower and rest. See you at the dorm for dinner guys." Syrus gave a wave and turned his back to the duo who seemed to be resting peacefully in the middle of the gym field.
"Syrus, wait up." Suddenly a voice came from his left, which made the boy turn around and find what would be another headache.
"Dammit." Syrus cursed as he looked at Alexis and her friends walking behind her and showing support to her and almost hostility to him. "Hey Alexis."
Syrus' reply was calm and collected as possible, earning a glance from the trio who seemed unaware of how to reply.
"Well, there is something I want to talk to you about." Alexis sounded hesitant about what to say to the young boy who seemed to have a lot on his plate. All of them had suffered in the hands of the leader of Obelisk's female dormitory, and now she had to crush the heart of the poor boy who seemed to be tricked by a letter written by someone else. "It's about the letter…"
Syrus hearing her feeling hesitant about that card, knew quite well the thoughts inside of her mind, which made Syrus sigh.
"You didn't write it right?" The sudden question made Alexis's eyes go wide open in shock, and before she could reply Syrus raised his hand. "Alexis, I know you are quite attached to my brother since both our brothers were best friends. And while I admit that we may have talked a little yesterday and we got into a discussion today… I know quite well that you are not the type of girl who would write a letter expressing your love."
Syrus really wanted to avoid talking about that, but the implication from his tone, made Alexis actually raise both of her eyebrows to him.
"Oh yeah, so how do you think I would express myself?" Alexis asked challenging since she sounded not just relieved, but actually felt affronted by the mockery tone on his voice, even if he didn't use any of it.
"My guess is you would be the kind of girl who would flirt in the middle of a duel, and confess your love after beating the crap of him in a duel." Syrus raised both of his hands with a shrug, which made not just Alexis eyes twitch but also made both her comrades stop holding their giggles, knowing that Syrus was spot on. "But let's be real Alexis. You are known as the best student of Obelisk and possibly the most beautiful of the prep school of duels. While me I'm just a shadow of the best duelist in the school. Hell, even my hair looks almost the same as Zane's, and from my size and weight, I'm just a shrimp trying to take a pearl from a mermaid. We are from different leagues."
"Don't be so harsh with yourself, Syrus." Alexis noticed the look of tiredness on the face of the boy and how he view himself against her, she felt pity after hearing how he felt being the shadow of Zane Truesdale.
"That's fine, I know the reality, we don't know much about each other Alexis, and I know that maybe you see me just as Zane's brother, and not by me, and I'm not surprised if that's how you see me," Syrus confessed which made Alexis's eyes go wide open and he nods to her. "Maybe this will help you. When I got to my locker, there was a letter above Jaden's boots… It seems the target from the letter wasn't me, Jaden mistook his locker for mine and placed his boots on my locker. So the person who you want to find was the one who wanted Jaden to be expelled the most."
The trio of girls went in silence while letting the clue sink in their minds, while Syrus shrugged himself and decided to not give a damn anymore.
"Since now you know that all this drama wasn't actually directed to me, I knew I shouldn't delude myself, especially with you. And since you already got all the information you want… I know that you don't want anything more from me. I'm going to take a shower. I'm dirty, sweaty, and tired. And there is nothing you can do to take my interest right now Alexis. There is nothing worth for my time right now Alexis." Syrus knew that the more he would stay there, the more tired he would be, so he decided to turn his back and walk directly in the direction of the showers. But the same voice who interrupted him before called his attention again making him stop at the first step.
Alexis cringed after being deliberated on how little the boy thought of her, thinking of her as a petty person. Knowing well that Syrus was walking away from her, she knew what she should do.
"Wait Syrus. I want to challenge you to a duel." Alexis called him, making him pause the step, as he didn't even turn his back to look at her.
"I knew you were petty Alexis, but I thought you would at least let me have a shower before you call me to a duel." Syrus sounded neither annoyed nor happy, just expressionless. "Can I at least have a shower?"
"You, Me, at the harbor, the same place we talked at yesterday." Alexis with a resolute on her face, didn't think twice as she called the one who would be the best challenge for her at the day to make sure that she was worthy of his time. He owed her a duel. And that's what she was going to get.
Syrus didn't reply, he just walked straight to the locker room and get the shower that he was looking forward to.
Making the trio of girls watching him walk in silence…
"Wow, and I thought that this would end up totally different." Jasmine could feel the seriousness from his voice, the little blue-haired boy seemed really angry after knowing that everything was a lie, and he expected that, and showing the lack of faith that her best friend would actually confess to him like that made her feel kind of disturbed. "He is a dork with a lack of self-esteem.."
"I don't know." Mindy actually said her concern. "I mean, I was expecting something more dramatic, like a boy crying and shouting or even running at her and being on her feet at the first glance, but I have to confess that he sounded really mature and took this really well. It could have been a lot worse. Actually, did you see how they talked this morning? He said Alexis was petty and even she admitted that she was petty."
"And now you are finally challenging him, Alexis, how do you feel?" Jasmine asked worried, as she noticed that her friend looked serious and sad.
"I wish it couldn't have ended this way. This person actually was targeting Jaden and Syrus was caught in this problem, and the worse I was possibly the one who would take the blame for this problem. We need to inform professor Fontaine about this new information and prepare a way to find who is the true culprit." Alexis came to a resolve, she wanted to ask Syrus forgiveness, but from the tone of his voice, and knowing that he wasn't the target, it actually made even worse for the Obelisk girl, she really wanted to pass time to know better Zane's brother, no… Syrus, but not that way. "And I'm going to prepare for my duel."
"Are you sure that he id going to be there?" Mindy asked worried as Jasmine was glancing in the direction of the locker rooms again. Both of the girls received a nod from Alexis.
"I know that he will be there. We just need to wait for him. He will come to us." Alexis turned her back as the trio decided to leave the place.
The hot shower felt like a waterfall over the meditating boy who seemed to refresh his own thoughts, like a Muse who always inspires the greatest philosophers, monks, sages, writers, artists, and duelists.
Syrus felt the wave of warm water caress his face and made him look deep inside himself, thinking about everything that happened earlier.
"I cannot go easy to her now… she knows about my boss monster, and she knows about how I go about most of my strategies… I cannot go back." Syrus opened his silver eyes as he felt refreshed after a good shower over his body, since the next day his all body would be sore, it was a feeling that he hasn't felt in a long time.
Syrus closed the shower, as the wet hair was over his face, Syrus washed away all his doubts, and now it was time to show Alexis his true style of a duel, the one he learned from many years playing Yu-Gi-Oh. It was his choice, and it is his own life.
"It's not time to question my moves… I will stick with the path I chose." Syrus took the towel and clothes and finally, he became certain of one thing. "I have a duel right now."
"I'm so glad that Professor Fontaine made a plan and allowed us to give permission to Syrus to go to our dormitory to help to find the true culprit." Alexis felt relieved, knowing that Professor Fontaine became shocked into knowing that the drama was worse than she imagined, she demanded to know the responsible for all the problems of the day, and with a plan in mind, the group of girls created a good strategy to bring the culprit and show them the consequences of their actions.
"Do you think this will work Alexis?" Jasmine said as she looked a bit weird out about the idea. "I mean we would waste a few hours trying to set up a trap and we have to bring two Slifer Students to the girl's dorm, just for us trying to look around someone hiding and see the drama unfold?"
"Well, there is nothing else we could do at this moment. I just hope that we can find the culprit the sooner as possible." Alexis sighed after stopping her way, glancing at her friends, who seemed unsure from the drama as well. "Let's finish this before things escalate even more. I don't want to be a reason for being the expelling of a student."
"You are right, the one who did that should suffer the consequences," Jasmine said as she cracked her knuckles. "I wanted so much to punch the person who framed you. Who they think they are to blame you for trying to expel someone?"
"Yeah. That person should be beaten so much that their own mother wouldn't like to see their face. And they should be single forever." Mindy agreed as she felt her blood boil, making her friends giggle from her reaction.
"Alright girls, let's go to the harbor, Syrus must be waiting." Alexis said as she walked in front of the duo, who gladly followed her friend.
As the trio finally arrived at the harbor, they saw nobody less than the red Slifer duelist staring at the ocean waiting for their time to appear.
"I knew you would come," Alexis said aloud, as she finally approached him. But at the moment she glanced the boy she knew that he was completely different from the same morning.
"You challenged me, I said any hour and any day," Syrus said as he didn't sound either pleased or neither excited with the challenge.
"Come on Syrus, I thought you would be happy to test yourself," Alexis said as she prepared her duel disk, but at a sudden glance, Syrus decided to take off the buttons of his own jacket and released it in front of her. "What are you doing?"
Syrus ignored her and at the moment he with his one arm took off the buttons of his jacket he wore off his jacket with one pull, which made Alexis a good view of him. He was wearing what was wearing a belt with three deck cases.
"I'm giving you a choice," Syrus said aloud as he pointed at his own 3 cases. "I have three decks under my belt, and I'm not going to say which one is the level one, two or three of the current deck I'm using."
"What?" Alexis asked noticing that Syrus wasn't kidding.
"From my experience, you never should have just one deck. And you always should modify your deck when possible. So, this morning I developed three decks in case someone would duel me. But I will not give you the satisfaction for you to know which one is which. You should guess by random." Syrus launched the jacket behind him as the girls looked at him in disbelief.
"Do you think this is a kind of joke, brat?" Jasmine said as she can see that the boy in front of her was actually making fun of the best duelist in prep school and possibly the best female duelist in the school.
Syrus took off his glasses and placed them in his pocket.
"Do you see me laughing right now?" The question made by Syrus made Jasmine stop her track and notice that he was indeed being serious, he wasn't going to give the satisfaction of giving his all to her friend. "You challenged me Alexis, but I will not give you the satisfaction of giving my all in case you choose the wrong deck."
"Okay, then Syrus. I accept your challenge. I choose the deck on the left?" Alexis stared as Syrus nodded to her.
"Is that so? Then look at your deck." Syrus simply commanded which made Alexis look at her duel disk. "Now back to me."
Alexis looked at Syrus who took his deck and started shuffling.
"Now to your deck." Syrus commanded again which made Alexis quickly look at her deck. "Now back to me!."
The trio looked surprised as Syrus deepened his tone of voice which made him place his entire deck over his duel disk taking another pair of them from a different pocket, he made a swing that opened the stems with one swing.
"I'm Syrus Truesdale! Hello~, ladies!" Syrus sang as his duel disk turned on making the trio look kind of in awe from his presentation. He places his glasses on his eyes.
"Hello." Jasmine suddenly replied surprised. "Okay I admit that was cool."
Syrus proceeded to place 5 cards over his duel disk, and every card placed created a sound of a card which made Jasmine and Mindy look at him weirdly. But Alexis saw in first hand.
"What the hell is he doing?" Jasmine asked surprised, as Syrus suddenly like a flow collected the 5 cards on his hand and raised to him. "Is that a way to draw cards?"
"From my experience, Syrus had this unique way of drawing cards." Alexis answered the question as she looked straightly at the boy 3 meters away from her. Turning on her Duel Disk she stared at the Slifer duelist ready to duel. "Alright Syrus, I'm going to be angry if you hold back against me."
"I wouldn't dream about it if I had a strong deck. Bring on." Syrus challenged making Alexis grin excitedly.
"Duel!" Both shouted in unison as their duel disks placed their life points directly to 4K points.
Syrus stared at the cards in his hand. Threatening roar, Twin Barrel Dragon, two Dekoich, the Battlechanted Locomotive and DNA Transplant.
"Ladies first." Syrus said as he made Alexis draw.
"What a gentleman. Draw!" Alexis took a card from the top of her deck. "I set one monster and a face down card on the field and end my turn."
Alexis after placing her two cards over the field, created the hologram of the cards placed in facedown. Which made Syrus glance for a second, before focusing on his strategy.
"My turn, draw!" Syrus took a card from the top of his deck, showing a Silver Gadget. After glancing the field and the eyes of the girl who would be the best female duelist of the school, Syrus finally came to a decision. "I will place a face down monster and a face down card as well. I end my turn."
Imitating the same strategy of the first turn of Alexis, made her raise her eyebrows.
"Are you imitating me?" Alexis asked not feeling excited into seeing the first strategy of the boy in front of her.
"Who knows? That's all I'm going to do on this turn." Syrus shrugged as he simply felt that it would be appropriated on that moment.
"Okay, so then let's see how it will goes. My turn, Draw!" Alexis took another card from her deck which made her smile. "I will set another monster and another card on the field."
"So we are just going to place sets?" Syrus asked which received a smile in return.
"It seems so." Alexis challenged which made Syrus scoff at her.
"Hey Mindy. Do you think this duel will take a while? I mean both of them are only setting cards." Jasmine asked while receiving a shrug from her friend who seemed to be trying to watch the duel as well.
"Okay, then I'm going to change the pace. My turn, Draw!" Syrus took the top card of his deck, and at the moment he glanced the monster on his hand, everything was set… His boss monster was on his hand, Desperado Barrel Dragon was on his hand. "I flip summon my monster. Dekoichi, the Battlechanted Locomotive!"

"Oh no." Alexis's eyes went wide open as Syrus took a coin from his pocket.
"Yep. I activate his effect. First coin." Syrus launched the coin in the air and placed over his pulse, which made him smile at the girl who was on the other side of the harbor. "Heads. Now let's go for the second try."
Alexis watched the coin flip once more, which made her heartbeats getting louder inside from her chest. But she couldn't help but feel relieved after seeing Syrus' face turned into a frown.
"Tails. Alright, I cannot destroy a card from this effect. Okay, Battle Phase, Silver Gadget attack the set monster on the right." Syrus pointed at the card which would be the aim from the monster who nodded before flying directly at the card over the field.
At the moment Silver Gadget attacked appeared a blond lady dressed with a red robe which after being destroyed she gave a huge explosion, which Alexis looked satisfied.
Princess of Tsurugi

Syrus didn't seemed to mind the damage on his life points, and already pointed at the other monster, the electric two gunned monster used energy blast to directly attack the monster down. At the moment the monster appeared it was a known card which was an elegant lady with silver armor made with silver leather as well, and her iconic hair.
"Oh Noooooooooo." Syrus shouted, hands on his cheeks, like an old man who seemed to have seen the worst nightmare of his life.

Alexis chuckled from the reaction of the little boy who cursed after seeing that he attacked a monster who he shouldn't have. At the moment the warrior took from her back a light saber, a minute before she destroys herself, she attacked Twin-Barrel Dragon, making them not crush and destroy each and other, but both of them slightly fade like light and making them stop existing on the field.
"I still have a monster. Dekoichi attack her life points directly." Syrus noticing that his monster wasn't destroyed to go to the graveyard, he gulped his curse words and went directly to attack with his last monster.
The robot train went into full speed and in second a sound impact was made which Alexis flinched from the sound and the impact covering over the holograms.

"I knew that I couldn't protect myself forever, that's why I was prepared by using this. I activate my trap card. Attack and Receive." Alexis activated a card which resembled like 2 soldiers attacking at each and other.

"It seems there isn't anything more that I could do. I set one face down and I end my turn." Syrus said after placing down another card on the field which made both Alexis move her hair on behind, and 2 of her friends gasp in relieve.
"Man, this duel seems isn't going to end just yet. When we thought that Alexis would receive a lot of damage, she attacked back which made they would be in equal level." Jasmine glanced Mindy, who waved her hand to her head trying to take the heat over her face.
"Yeah, we never know what is going to happen." Mindy commented as she could see both Alexis smiling at the challenge, and Syrus raising his eyebrow with a smirk on his face.
"You are pretty good Syrus, I give you that." Alexis said as she expected a great challenge like that. "But that doesn't mean I will throw the towel. It's my turn. Draw!"
Syrus remained in silence as the duo of her friends looked at each and other trying to see what is the strategy of her friend. And looking from the smirk on her face, she have an idea in mind.
"I activate the spell card Fusion Sage." Alexis was already having an idea on what to bring her boss monster. "This spell card allows me to add the spell card Polymerization to my hand from my deck."

"I see… well I activate the Field Spell Fusion Gate. Which has a pretty neat effect, I wouldn't need to use Polymerization for when I fuse my monsters on the field. But since there is nothing I can do at this moment. I activate The Warrior Returning Alive. Which allows me to bring Princess of Tsurugi back to my hand from the graveyard. I will set one monster you know which is facedown and end my turn."

Alexis was a bit frustrated that she didn't have the cards she needed to make her boss monster, she felt that her hand was a bit difficult to handle the pressure that her friend was giving to her. She felt excited not knowing what could happen next.
"Okay, before you end your turn I activate my continuous trap card. DNA Transplant." Syrus said as he pressed the bottom revealing what would be something Alexis wasn't actually used to it. "I can choose which attribute all the monsters of the field will be since this card is on the field… And I choose the Dark attribute."

"My turn. Draw!" Syrus said as he took a glance at his card… Then he politely tapped his shoulder taking the dust away. Removing his own glasses and replacing him with the ones he had on his pocket.
"Wait, what are you doing?" Alexis asked, not understanding how he suddenly stopped dueling and was seemed to be throwing the towel to her.
"Just this." Syrus raised his card to Alexis, which made her eyes wide open. As suddenly a Mechanic Spider appeared over the field, the girls would be angry if wasn't for the fact as Syrus' face showed no remorse on what he was going to do next. "Alexis, meet BM-4 Blast Spider."

A mechanical Spider made of both black and green metal appeared over the field, as it already glanced at the strongest monster in the field.
"What the hell." Alexis has never seen a monster like that, and then the spider glanced at what would be its monsters comrades, both machines of dark attributes glanced at the spider and prepared themselves.
"I activate its effect. Once per turn, I can destroy a card in the field by destroying a dark machine monster with it and I choose Silver Gadget… Meaning… Boom!" Syrus said as he pointed to the set monster who would be Princess of Tsurugi. And the Dark Grey Gadget glanced at the spider and placed itself like a bomb which made the spider create the coordinates aiming for the set monster on the field.
Syrus raised his thumbs up and the machine monster glanced at him and he turned his thumbs upside down, making its eyes glow red and then shooting the Silver Gadget monster towards the warrior monster, making them both disappear in holographic shards. "Bang"
Alexis just heard Syrus spouting nonsense but every word coming out of his mouth terrified her.
"No, my Princess of Tsurugi." Alexis shouted as her own monster was destroyed, leaving her exposed.
"Pow…" Syrus said as made Alexis look at him, and her eyes went wide open as she saw one card that she instantly imagined how would the reaction of the proctor be after seeing such a meeting at that moment. Syrus' boss monster was already in his hand. Her eyes shrank as she gulped hard on his boss monster on the field. "BADABUM PA PUM PUM POW! Say hello to my very big friend!"
And when he released the card on his duel disk, the machine gun dragon was already raising and shouting furious in her direction.
"OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH." Mindy suddenly shouted as she raised her two arms wide open surprising her friend who suddenly looked scared. "Oh my GOD, that was so epic! I never heard such awesome words before!
Alexis looked at her friend, asking her and pleading to please stop. Which made her friend stop cheering, and suddenly smile sheepishly.
"Okay, I want to know what the hell just happened? This duel went from 0 to 100 too quickly in this turn." Jasmine could see the sweat coming from her friend, and the way the boy was acting, she knew that he didn't cheat, but it was concerning since her friend was dealing with what would be a giant monster of two freaking thousand and eight hundred attack points.

Syrus simply replied which made Jasmine start to sweat the same way as her friend, and Mindy who was sheepishly suddenly palled from such a reveal. "And by the way Alexis, you receive damage from half of your monster's original attack point after being destroyed since my Blast Spider is on the field."
"What?" Alexis asked as suddenly she felt a little bullet shot coming from the spider away from her, making her flinch by surprise and then glare angrily at the spider. "Okay, now I'm starting to hate this spider."
"Well, jokes on you. GG." Syrus turned his back to the group and then took the jacket over the floor. "You want to quit?"
"No. I'm going until the end." Alexis even if she knew that it was pointless to startle time, Syrus actually wasn't caring about the duel anymore. She learned a lot from this duel, even if was a short one.
"Okay. Battle Phase, Desperado, attack! No mercy!" Syrus didn't even turn to face Alexis after saying his command, he was already dressing his jacket, at that moment Alexis shouted from such an explosion taking all of her remaining life points on the field. "I hope that's the duel you wanted so much."
"ALEXIS." Mindy and Jasmine shouted not a second later running in her direction after watching such an explosion of lights destroying what remained of her life points. Making such loud explosions and watching the boy didn't even care by turning his back on them.
"I'm fine girls," Alexis said as she recovered from the shock of watching a turn of tables like that, she blinked, watching the dressed red Slifer, who could possibly be the best student in the class. Walking in her direction "I have to say Syrus, that was a great game."
"Yep. GG." Syrus gave a short smile and offered his hand to her, which she gladly used to pull herself up.
"GG?" The trio asked in unison, which made him roll his eyes.
"Good Game. GG, come on, it's not that difficult." Syrus replied which made the trio understand the meaning.
"Okay it makes sense, never thought you would change the attributes of your monsters just to summon your boss." Alexis said as she admired the outside the box strategy which made Syrus nod his head at her.
"It was a risky strategy, but I needed all my monsters to be from that attribute," Syrus said as he checked the P.D.A who suddenly vibrated. "What the… Did I receive 1703 duel points? Uh… neat."
"Oh, that's good. You can use them to exchange for booster packs to help you modify your deck." Alexis said as she was surprised to see her own P.D.A showing that she received 302 duel points, even after dueling well she received less than she expected.
"Well, I cannot buy much with just one duel, maybe that's the reason of why we have many duels after class." Syrus said placing his P.D.A on his pocket and watching the group nod at him. "Since there is nothing more to do, I'm going at my dorm to eat dinner."
"Wait." At the moment Syrus was leaving he felt a hand on his shoulder, which made him turn and see Alexis again. "Look, we talked with Professor Fontaine, and she made a plan to help us to find who the culprit is, and we would need you and Jaden to be in our dorm in a few hours. But we need to make sure it's convincing for you both to appear spontaneously."
"You want Jaden to be spontaneous?" Syrus glanced at Alexis with his eyebrow raised.
"Well yeah but…" Alexis was going to ask but seeing Syrus raising his hand to her to stop, she shut herself as Syrus used his P.D.A
"Jaden, Alexis wants to duel with you. You, her, girl's dorms, in 3 hours." Syrus gave a short message, which made the trio look at him weirdly. "If you want Jaden to be spontaneous, just challenge him to a duel, he loves a challenge and has no common sense. He will be so excited that he will swallow all his food before coming here."
The silence coming from the trio was something that he expected, which made him just roll his eyes and turn his back and this time leaving them alone.
"I'm already too tired. And too hungry to care." Syrus mumbled not even turning his back to the trio, who were left there in disbelief, watching someone who was going to them help so easily like that.
