Blessed Beings

You kicked the door open, marched straight over to Thoma and dumped everything you had on him.

"Here."

"M'love?" Thoma's eyes widened bright and took a few blinks to process all the bottles, artifacts and spear piled up on his lap. "What's all this?"

" . . . Happy Birthday?" You gave him an exaggerated exhausted shrug.

Thoma lowered his eyebrows and slowly gazed up at you. You gave him a big smile that you hoped would distract him from the cuts, bruises and burns scattered all over your body.

It didn't.

Your boyfriend tilted his head at you and gave you a quizzing little look.

"Were you out hunting for artifacts again?"

"And . . ." You pointed down to the bottles on his lap. "I made a few wishes . . ."

Needless to say that was quite the understatement.

To earn that amount of wishes, you'd had to do some commissions. A LOT of commissions . . .

To the point where destroying Ruin Guards, battling hilichurls and interrupting Abyss Mage rituals had become almost its own little routine.

As kind as Kathryne was, you could only take her Adventurer's Guild greeting so many times a week.

If that alone didn't earn you the wishes, you'd be straight off to domains, some on the other side of Teyvat (thank the Archons for teleportation devices), picking even more fights with slimes and Whopperflowers- heck, you were even willing to take on Eremites as long as it would give you the precious artifacts you needed for your beloved boyfriend.

The only problem was, you were convinced that for some reason, the gods just loved to mess with you . . .

"Take this goblet for your Pyro friend . . . It will grant him extra Hydro damage . . ."

WHAT?

And then there was the ordeal of making the wishes themselves. It had given you all the more reason to believe that the gods, for reasons you would never understand, absolutely despised you.

You'd started making your wishes at the Statue of the Seven in Ritou . . .

You'd watched as blue comets soared through the sky, leaving you weapons that you would simply use to enhance a spear for Thoma (a spear you had worked hard mining iron and Amethyst to build and refine).

When you'd gotten the first glimpse of a purple comet, it had given you so much excitement. For a moment you had actually forgotten just how hard it was to get a Stella Fortuna for someone so specific . . .

"Still making wishes?"

Shinobu had twirled her Stella Fortuna almost teasingly at you- not actually drinking it because that would mean taking her mask off in public. At least she had offered you some help with future quests and commissions (when she wasn't busy keeping the Arataki Gang in check of course).

Making wishes in Ritou didn't seem to be working.

So you decided to try at the Statue in Watasumi Island . . .

The blue comets shot through the sky like stars with each wish you made. Followed by another purple one . . .

Maybe this would be the one . . .

"Y/N! Have you come to train with me?"

You'd groaned and shook your head at Gorou, handing him the Stella Fortuna. It was kind of worth it to see his ears prick up and tail wag with so much excitement- not only did the Stella Fortuna make him stronger, but it tasted nice and sweet too.

It did make you wonder if people's Stella Fortunas tasted differently depending on their favourite foods . . .

But Watasumi Island wasn't working either.

Was the Raiden Shogun in charge of these wishes or something?

Was she holding a grudge after Thoma had thrown that spear at her?

She did seem like the type of person to do that . . .

So you decided to try Thoma's hometown all the way in Mondstadt. Maybe you would have a bit more luck there. You stood by the Statue of the Seven in Windrise and began to wish.

"I wish to make my lover stronger. My lover who shields me, and cooks and cleans for me . . ."

"Oh, you need someone to cook and clean? I'm at your service."

"What?" You blinked down at the armoured maid who had suddenly appeared next to you. "N- no, sorry. It's a guy . . ." Your mind drifted off into a dreamy stance. "He's so cute. My little doggo boy . . . WHAT THE-?!"

You jumped away from the shaggy boy who was sniffing all over you. As you stared at him, he just looked up at you like this was perfectly normal.

"You smell good. Let's hunt."

"OHHHH!" You hid your face in your hands. This wasn't what you had meant by cute little doggo boy!

"What is my luck right now?"

"Yeah, you ask me," muttered a battered looking kid who looked just as shocked to be there as you were to see him.

Seriously?

It was like the gods were deliberately putting these people here to get you all riled up!

You'd let out a huge groan. This wasn't working either! In your frustration, you decided to try a Statue of the Seven in Liyue.

"Please . . ." At this point, you had exhausted yourself, not just doing commissions and quests . . . but you had also spent a bit of stardust and Mora towards a few extra ones. Even hanging out with some of your new friends just for a hint of a wish had become a bit of a chore.

"It's not that hard, gods. I wish for a Stella Fortuna for my Pyro Shielder-"

"Wazzup? You askin' for a song?"

"NO!" you screamed at the rock n' roll girl. You collapsed to your knees, almost steaming with fury. What was the point of respecting this damn statue's wishes when it wouldn't respect yours?

"Please gods . . . I'm begging you . . . Just give me some Stella Fortuna for my Thoma . . ."

"hi."

"WHAT DO YOU WANT?" you screeched.

The little zombie girl blinked very slowly at you laying down on the ground and murmured:

"I forgot."

You flopped down on the couch next to Thoma and weakly handed him one of the six Stella Fortunas you had (eventually) earned for him . . . on top of the artifacts and handmade spear.

"You deserve it."

"Awww, Y/N . . ." Thoma slid his arm around your shoulder as he popped open the bottle and cheerily took a sip. "Thank you . . . But-" He paused and gave you a serious little squeeze. Though you were too tired to look up at him, you could sense what he was going to say next.

It wouldn't have been the first time . . .

"What did I say about looking for materials for me?"

You half heartedly rolled your eyes. "It wasn't that bad . . . The Mondstadters helped me mine iron for the spear."

Thoma pouted at the injuries all over your body. "You're covered in cuts and bruises."

"Honestly, it's really not that bad," you lied, trying not to wince as Thoma gently brushed over them with his fingertips.

"Sweetie," he began softly. "I thought we agreed you'd stop this after you picked all those fights with the Pyro Hypostasis-"

"Aww but the burns are all gone." They were replaced were new burns and cuts that kind of hurt, but that didn't matter as much to you as much as your boyfriend did.

"And you got lost in Tsurumi Island looking for Fluorescent Fungi . . ." Thoma wrapped his other arm tight around you and pulled your body close to his.

"What would happen if you didn't find your way out, hm? What would I do without my special girl?"

He said it in a cheerful, almost teasing tone. But the way he squeezed you so tightly was more than enough for the worry in his words to sink in.

"You need to think about yourself too." He shook you around in his arms. "You need to be more selfish"

You giggled uncontrollably as he "aggressively" rubbed his hand up and down your arm and smooched your temple, making exaggerated little moans.

"I'm gonna keep saying it again and again. Y/N Needs To Be Kinder To Herself." He shook you harder with each word to try and hammer those words into you.

"Hey, drink your Stella Fortuna," you said, pointing at the bottle in his hand. "I worked hard to get you that."

"Alright, alright." Thoma popped open the bottle and took a nice big swig of it. "Mmmm. Better than Dandelion Wine . . . Maybe I should drink it in one of these goblets!" He smiled and glanced down at all the artifacts on his lap. There were some there that made up a few sets.

"Are these all levelled up?"

"To the max. I went farming for a few . . . so you can decide what works best. Either way, they should make you stronger." You groaned loudly, sinking into your boyfriend's body. "It took me ages to get some of these. And get them just right for you. I don't know why . . ." You pulled a face, chuckling weakly. "I think the gods hate me."

Thoma was taking a long drink at the time, listening carefully to what you were saying. He sat up and glanced down at you so you could get a good look at his glistening green eyes.

"I think you were sent by the gods."

Your own eyes widened. "What?"

Thoma beamed and gave you a big tight loving hug. "Who else would go out of their way to look after me like that?"

You bit your lip, your head sinking into your shoulders. "Thoma, don't start . . ."

But his playful chuckle let you know he wasn't going to stop with the praise any time soon.

"I think you're an angel . . . My guardian angel, huh? Did the gods send you down here just for me?"

Your face was flushing red hot with how corny he was being. It was so adorable but so embarrassing. You had to bury your face into his chest.

"Stooooop," you moaned. And yet you had the biggest widest grin on your face.

"Nope!" Thoma stuck his nose in the air. "I think you're my guardian angel, sent by the gods to look after me."

All you could do was giggle and nuzzle your face off his chest. You hated how cheesy he could be but loved how appreciative he was of your efforts, big or small. You were so busy rubbing your head off of him, you almost didn't notice him place something on top.

"Thoma?" You pulled back with your head tilted. "What are you doing?"

Thoma was beaming as he rummaged through the artifacts, looking for a accessory that matched the garland he had placed on your head.

"I think there's something here for you too. Can't go to all that effort to win all those prizes and not keep some for yourself. Like I said, you need to be a bit more selfish." He picked out a nice fresh flower that matched your garland and fixed it onto your dress.

"There. Fit for a princess."

"Thoma!" you laughed as he picked up another flower and attached it to his own jacket. You grinned and picked up a matching flower crown, popping it on his head.

"That's better."

"Heh, thanks, m'love." Thoma paused for a moment, his already bright eyes flickering even brighter. "I think I feel a difference already!"

"Really?" Your own face lit up. "I'm so happy you feel that way! Makes me feel like all that work was worth it . . ."

"Really? Actually . . ." Thoma suddenly lowered his eyebrows. "Give me a minute, m'love . . ." He chuckled as he leaned in for a quick kiss. "My angel . . ."

"Thomaaaaaa." You stuck your tongue out at him as he left the room, carefully carrying all those artifacts and that spear with him. You relaxed into the couch, absolutely exhausted and a little bit sore, but nice and warm from the all pride you felt about being able to help him.

It really made all that hard work worth it.

The only thing was now . . .

Thoma bounced back into the room and beamed down at you.

"Your bath is ready, m'love."

"What?" You sat up and blinked up at him. "Thoma . . . you didn't have to . . ."

"Are your wounds sore?"

"We- well . . . Yes they are, but-"

"Ah-ah. No buts."

Thoma swiftly scooped you up in his arms and began carrying you bridal style down towards the bathroom.

"Thoma!" you cried, playfully "punching" his shoulder. "Put me down!"

"No-no! You went out of your way looking after me so I get to look after you now!" He flashed you a teasing smirk before you could protest. "You said it yourself, these artifacts would make me stronger."

"Thoma . . ." You wrapped your arms around him and dropped your head on his shoulder.

"No need to thank me. I'm just glad I get to look after my little princess."

At this point, you knew there was no arguing with him. This was typical of him- you did something nice for you, he had to do something nice in return. It was almost like a kindness competition.

But you were tired and sore anyway, so you figured you might as well enjoy the pampering.

The bath was the perfect temperature and the perfect depth with all your favourite scents. The lovely bubbly water soothed your tired, cut, bruised burned body.

When you had (eventually) finished that, you were almost lured into the kitchen by another lovely smell, only to find out that Thoma had cooked you your favourite dinner.

And once his princess was fed, it was time for more cuddles on the couch. Thoma even gave you a back massage, rubbing away all the knots in your back built up from too many commissions, domain challenges and wishes.

"How do I know you're not my guardian angel?" you laughed as you plopped yourself up on his lap, Thoma wrapping his arms tight around you like angel wings.

"That's probably a bit of a push, m'love."

"A bit?" You giggled as you nuzzled your head off his shoulder. He was even warmer and cuddlier and snugglier than he was before.

"Those artifacts have definitely made you stronger . . ."

He gave you such a warm loving squeeze. "I think that's a bit more than the artifacts, m'love."

"Huh?" You blinked to see Thoma gazing up at you with those glistening green eyes. He brought a hand up to tenderly caress your cheek.

"I think you're my biggest source of strength."

"Thoma . . ." Your head sunk shyly into the crook of his neck. "I just ate . . ."

You heard him chuckle above you. He gave you a playful little pinch, pulling your body even closer into his.

"Yeah, you're definitely my biggest source of strength." He heaved a heavy sigh. "I love you, Y/N. And I wanna protect you . . . make sure you're safe . . . Even when you think you have to put yourself in danger for me . . . I wanna be there to look after you . . . Especially now that you've gone out of your way to ensure I can . . ." He chuckled again. "My angel . . ."

"Awww, Thoma." You planted a big loving smooch on your boyfriend's cheek. Thoma beamed and squeezed you so tight, scattering feather light kisses over your temple as you rested your head on his shoulder.

"You were definitely a godsend."

You let out a blissful moan. You nuzzled your head off his shoulder. You wrapped your arms around him, the two of you holding each other tight in a warm, safe, loving embrace on the couch.

"I love you, Thoma."

As if the artifact sets, the spear and the Stella Fortunas didn't already say that enough.
