SilverPsychic; Hello! As we can all see…the alarms didn't work very well. See, I've had an upsetting case of writer's block for this Halloween chapter. I didn't want to make it more than 2 chapters long but sadly I think it might end up longer. I have a rough idea of how I'd love it to go buuuut I got stuck after seeing a little doll appear. I've been unsure how to solve my accidental problem so…thankfully this chapter doesn't have a little problem doll yet. This should tide ya'll over for a bit yeah?
Silver; She also had to clean out her storage to finish these chapters-
SilverPsychic; …Yeah it kept lagging. So I had to delete some stuff T.T Anyways, it's October and perfect for this Halloween chapter! DISCLAIMER! I DO NOT OWN SONIC OR MHA! ONLY THE CREATIVITY TO BRING THEM TOGETHER! PLEASE ENJOOOY~!
Chapter 21; Hallow's Eve
As he wandered aimlessly around the store, his honey orbs caught sight of a cape tucked away in the corner. And he fell in love instantly, he definitely needed it in his costume! The sharp black outside with a soft velvet red inner layer with a nice neck cuff. Not to mention a little fluffy red tassel that made it seem all the more vintage. The price made him cringe though, easily taking up more than half of the money he brought. 3464.99 yen…(A\N; The -hopefully- equivalent to 25 USD)...it was such a nice cape, but that only left 693.00 yen (5 USD) for his costume. Silver sighed, grabbed the cape, and looked around to find anything else within his limit. He only really found a white shirt and black pants that were made cheaply. But it was only for one day so he'd only have 47.12 yen (0.34 USD) if he bought them.
With a sharp exhale, the pale psychic chose to take the items and returned quietly to his dorm. He placed on the cape and smiled, it was nice. Silver was glad he got it. The white shirt and pants gave him an idea, taking some scissors he made the cheap set look a bit worn for wear. Now he wanted tool fabric, that would give a nice kinda ghosty vibe. And maybe he could snatch a few bandages from Recovery Girl's office and go for a kinda ancient ghost-type costume? With a formulated plan, he tossed the tattered white shirt, obsidian pants, and snazzy cape onto his bed and once again snuck out of his dorm. He should have planned ahead for this but he got caught up in studying which was more important anyway. Well, the freshmen snuck into the Development studio, knowing they had all kinds of tools. And fabric was one of them.
He rummaged through the draws and cupboards and bins till the psychic lit up. Tool fabric; a thin see-through-ish fabric often used for undergarments for dresses. It gave a wonderful wispy appearance and easily flowed in a small breeze. He could sew this, yes he knew somewhat the basics to sewing, to his shirt and pants to give it a nice ghosty vibe! And floating in his powers would make it cooler-! The psychic froze thinking he heard movement, but laughed nervously to find it was just Hastsume's overflowing pile of things falling slightly. Silver took as much tool as he thought would work and headed to Recovery Girl's office.
Convincing her for the bandages was tough, especially since she had a valid point that they were important for healing. So Silver pouted and gave up his fight before Recovery Girl sighed and handed over some bandage scraps for Silver. It wasn't a lot, nor was it nearly enough for a mummy, but it was perfectly enough for the ivory teen. And he thanked the nurse about 100 times before happily scampering back to his room. Now to put everything together! First, he had to sew the tool to the tattered outfit-
So…sewing was harder than he thought. 'It's just a needle in thread!' His stupid mind had thought. 'This will be easy!' It wasn't. It took him HOURS before he finished, and his fingers were bleeding. At least that was a nice effect on the costume…Silver sighed bitterly before shaking it off and changing into the tattered white shirt and black pants with tool. He was happy with the outcome though! It did give a ghosty effect! And the small blood splatters were kind of poppy and fit with the vibe at least. The psychic grabbed the bandages and tied small clippings of them onto his arm, legs, shoulder, and even hair. The bandages were tattered as well, perhaps he should give them blood too? Nah, that would be too creepy. Finally, he put on the cape, and he smiled he loved it! Wait!
He pulled out a ring, the currency of Mobius, it being small and made of pure gold. It even made a special ding when he tossed it around. He fiddled with the cape's chest tassel and was able to put the ring on it, which made it look fancier in his opinion…he forgot to buy a bucket. Silver face palmed but couldn't be too mad, the outfit he made for himself…he thought looked nice. It was nice and satisfying! A text on his phone alerted him Mina was ready for everyone's big reveal. The psychic doubted he'd win. Especially since his costume wasn't much. But he enjoyed it, and that's what mattered. He ran downstairs and was quickly greeted by his class and all their wonderful costumes!
Izuku's costume was surprisingly not All Might, but instead, a mix of a ghost-themed hood, a witch hat and some patches near the bottom, and a single cute All Might head swen on last second. Bakugo's was a wear-wolf for some real scare. Uraraka was a kinda cute zombie. Tsu was just a simple sheet-covered ghost. Iida was a Frankenstein-like thing which oddly…he fit the look rather well. Ashido was a black cat of sorts. Kaminari was Pikichu. Kirishima was…a male re-make of Red Riding Hood? Wait, maybe Bakugo and Kirishima were doing a duo thing? Oh well. Momo was a mummy, or sorta? She looked like she was in the worst accident of her life, so Silver kinda assumed it was just a mummy.
Todoroki was a vampire? Huh, guess is worked. Aoyama was a magician. Shoji seemed to be a ninja, covered in a breathable black outfit. Ojiro was a tiger, with a thick tail! Sato was just a baker, wearing an apron and carrying a whisk. Sero made a rather great scarecrow. Jiro was a witch. Tokoyami was a…king? Or a really rich guy. Hagakure used body paint to look like a haunted skeleton. Mineta was…a doctor? With hearts all over - love doctor. Seriously? And Koda was a turtle, which fit him perfectly. Silver was awed at everyone's choice of costume. And as he thought, he didn't win the competition. Momo did, cause everyone thought she was really injured.
Everyone thought Momo had been mauled by a bear so she obviously won the small competition, but she denied accepting the prize… and Yoayarozu was happy to give Silver a spare bucket, and they got loads of candy due to her family. So much so everyone had to drop their buckets off at the dorms before heading the Mina's haunted house of choice…all those buckets were so heavy. No way they were going to carry them around all night! So the class of dressed-up freshmen followed the energetic 'black' cat. And as they had been walking, they made a deal. Anyone who chickened out of the haunted house, had to date Mineta for a day…which absolutely no one wanted to do so it worked perfectly.
It was roughly ten o'clock at night and everyone walked up to the creepy abandoned house, it just seemed to ooze 'I'm haunted' vibes. Going up to it set a not-settle 'somethings off about this' feeling in Silver's gut. Ashido said it had been an insane asylum, hospital, and a fancy mansion all at one time. When it was built it was for the cray-cray people of the town, but after about five years…so many had died and it seemed just chilling to the bone to walk in the place. For 'unknown' reasons. So they made it a hospital, but that was much worse. Every patient that went in had died or gone into a coma, so after ten years of fixing up rooms, changing places, and even just not allowing people to come in at night, people fell upon the idea it was a curse and was haunted. So some rich bratty family took it and moved in, but once they went in and started to re-do parts, they just were gone. Never heard from them again, and no one has gone in for the last thirty years after that.
Ashido explain all this in such a hushed tone, and small excited gleam in her eyes, "And they say whoever can come back out the next day will be the bravest towards fear and death." Everyone stood awkwardly at the front of the large old house. "They say not even All Might himself was brave enough to go near it."
"...did anyone tell the teachers where we are?" Silver asked suddenly, realizing he had completely forgotten to and everyone went silent. Glancing at one another expecting someone else to have. "So…no?"
Hagakure shuffled, "I..I guess not." A large lump in the teen's throat formed and Silver shuttered.
Bakugo shoved Kirishima forward harshly, "H-Hey man! Whoa, what are you doing?!" Then Red Riding Hood knocked into the large creaky old wood door, making everyone freeze expecting someone to come out and hit them all on the heads or something.
When nothing happened Bakugo huffed, "You're the 'manliest' here. You open it and show everyone you're brave. If you don't, I will." Kirishima hesitated before doing as he was told. Wait, Bakugo wasn't…scared…right-?
With a strong heave, the teen pushed open the large doors. The old doors opened with a large Creeeeeeak, large plumes of dust and cobwebs flying up into their faces, revealing a large dark open room. Nothing flew out at them suddenly or called out creepily for them to leave just yet, so Silver's nerves calmed down just a little. Maybe things would be okay after all…still, he couldn't help but wish someone had told the teachers…
After a few seconds, when no one else moved, Silver took a cautious step forward. Wondering why he ever agreed to this in the first place. Izuku tossed a glance at Silver before the psychic sighed roughly and shuffled into the haunted building first. "I didn't even want to go yet I'm the first inside…" Silver muttered sourly before tossing a glance around.
Seemed though that the bratty family did do some remodeling before disappearing, the entry room being a grand dusty, spider-filled, echoey room with a few different stairways. (A\N; I look up so many different things for this fic…not gonna lie abandoned mansions aren't something I thought I'd find so beautiful-!) Two stairwells lined the left and right of the large entrance room, the stairs coated in dust and in velvet red carpet. Large spiders scuttled across the floor when Silver stepped around inside, in awe and fear. Since it was so dark, he had to activate his night vision, which didn't help much. But it helped him see a few feet in front of him at least. There was a second floor for sure, which perhaps was in better or worse shape than the first floor. He doubted the upper floors would have good stability...the psychic did a quick 360 taking in as much as he could see.
There were vine plants that climbed the walls and grass and moss that poked through the floors. If he had to guess, the flooring was granite or marble, or perhaps a fancy tile? It was covered in 30 years of abandonment dirt and dust. The walls were a dark wood of sorts and large windows that had long since been broken. Dusty glass covered the floors as well, meaning he had to warn Hagakure of this revelation. He couldn't see much, but tapping his metal boots into the hard tile or marble floor below proved the room was quite large. How? The hedgehog simply listened to the echo bouncing off the walls. The echo kept going for roughly 20 or 30 seconds, making him guess the room was about as big as two dorm rooms, or bigger. And hallways were also a factor.
"So…" Kirishima piped making Silver turn around fast out of surprise, "Any ghosts?"
The psychic shrugged, "I don't know, but there is glass. And lots of dust." He turned back to the room in front of him, "It's too dark for me to see much." Ambery eyes squinted as he peered into the dark void, even with his soft hue of cyan.
"At least you're like a little flashlight sort of." Sero pointed out and Silver slumped with a frown, "And if the psychic says no ghosts then I feel it's safe to move forward."
Jiruo handed over a rock to Silver, "Your glow increases when you're holding something right?" The psychic nodded but dropped the rock to the ground.
"I'll hold some of Todoroki's fire, that will light things up much better." Silver quickly explained after seeing the dressed-up witch make a face at his action. Todoroki nodded and gave a small flame to Silver, who took it within his psychic grasp and showed it ahead.
"AHHHHHH!"
Silver jumped out of his skin hearing the shrill shriek, "What?! Ghost?!" Sato shouted in alarm making all the rest of the teens freak out even more.
"No! A giant spider just crawled up my leg!" Hagakure cried and everyone calmed down with a thankful sigh.
"I almost fainted…cause of a spider?" Silver asked panting horrified, "Don't do that."
Hagakure squirmed, bouncing closer to Ojiro and clinging to his tail, "Just a spider?! Excuse you! That thing was huge!" Silver glanced back and guided their makeshift lantern by Hagakure who pointed to a spider the size of a walnut, "SEE?! ITS HU-" The psychic picked up the small bug in his power, apparently holding it way too close to the skeleton's face for her liking cause she let out another shrill shriek, quickly clinging onto Ojiro, "DONT BRING IT TO MEEEEEE!"
Everyone stepped back while Silver just smashed it with his power, "With your screaming, I wouldn't be surprised if you awakened all the ghosts in this house and in a thirty-mile radius surrounding the house." The ivory hedgie-boy grumbled sourly while the skeleton girl whimpered in the tiger's arms.
Silence consumed them in the eerie house before Tsu awkwardly shuffled, "So…are we going to explore? Ribbit." Silver shrugged as a shudder ripped through him, the off feeling of this place returning, "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I-"
Creeeeeeeak KA-THAM! Everyone froze, no one willing to dare move a muscle as the only light available was the psychically held fire. The door had closed on its own, perhaps it was the wind but no one had felt any type of breeze before. Silver took a deep breath in, before turning around and kicking the large wood doors, as hard as he could mind you. Not even a small budge. That made panic build in him, there wasn't a lock on these doors. Silver tried to keep his panic in as he gently handed the fire to Todoroki, if he was going to be in a scary mansion at all, it was going to be with the doors open. The class felt the same way and he knew it cause they all held their breaths hopefully. He psychically grabbed the doors and began pulling, when they didn't budge, he added more force. And he kept adding more and more force until he was physically sweating and straining himself, but they wouldn't budge.
Silver growled, his panic overflowing, "Come ON!" Teeth gritted and heels dug into the marble floors below, the dressed-up freshmen put all his mental and physical strength into pulling the doors open and yet they wouldn't budge.
It was as if some force was stopping him. So he, still holding onto the doors, stopped pulling and reached out with his mind. Trying to see what the block was through his powers. If it was a ghost, then he'd be able to feel their mind there. But as he reached out, there was a sudden shock. Like when you slide down a bunch of plastic slides then try and touch a metal pole, but pretend it was in your brain. Silver fell back upon shock, and gripped his head. It didn't hurt much, it was just a surprise and it left a horrified feeling in his gut. It wasn't safe, they couldn't get the door open, they needed to get out. Something was blocking them inside, whether it be a ghost or a quirk. But that meant someone wanted them inside, which meant it wasn't safe, which meant they needed to get out. And fast.
"A-Any luck?" Izuku stammered, holding onto his cape thing tightly and Silver shook his head and got up from the dirty floor.
Uraraka nervously shifted, "I suppose that means we're stuck then…"
"No, we need to get out. If we're stuck then-"
"Then it's perfect!" Mina chirped, "This will add to the haunting experience! And no one can opt out now!" Silver growled, kicking the door again but it didn't budge, "Come on! Let's explore this sucker!"
"Ashido I don't think that's a good-"
Kaminari interrupted Silver, "YEAH! What are a few ghosts gonna do anyway? We are alive and they are dead, we aren't even in the same realm! They can't harm us!" …he was stuck with some inexperienced idiots.
This wasn't Silver's first time encountering paranormal things, especially since he was in a whole nother world AND was psychic. If he did things right he could interact with the ghosts, noting that Mirio practically is a ghost when he used his quirk. Silver could fight a ghost, but not for very long. Unless he ejected his own soul which he only did once by accident. And Sonic and Tails were kinda into the whole 'anything for a good adventure' deal so they have dealt with some wacky things. Including ghosts. But it was obvious to Silver that the class he was with had no such issues, and they were either too stupid to feel fear or too brave and egotistical for their own safety. (A\N; Seems like the same thing T.T) Even Sonic, who was a major idiot at times, knew that if in a haunted house and the door closes, the top priority is to get out!
Silver tossed a glance to the windows, they were large and broken yes, but dirty glass could get the wound infected and there were trees growing outside the windows. If he did jump out of them he'd get cut, infected, and wouldn't have enough room to get out 'cause of those stupid trees. The best option was to, reluctantly, venture further into the house and find a safer way out. So the worried psychic sighed and truged after Mina who had coxed Yoayarozu into making everyone torches. (A\N; I'm going off the edge of my seat, I really got no plan for this…so I'm with you. I'm excited to see where this goes!) Cautiously, Class 1-A made their way closer to the stairs. Everyone was hesitant but no one could turn down now, even if they decided dating Mineta for a day was better than the haunted house. The door was 'locked' so where to? Explore the second level or the first? Mina was leading, with a posture of confidence which eased everyone a bit, but she too didn't know whether to go upstairs or look around the first level first.
The pink 'black' cat turned to everyone, her lantern swinging harshly with soft squeaking as it did, "Sooooooo, up or down?" Silver thought for a moment as everyone glanced around slowly putting in their votes.
Well, the upper levels could be unstable and they could fall through the floors. An injury like that without medication around is a risky move. Buuuut, on lower levels often contained kitchens, with knives. And they had absolutely no idea where they
were going, so it could be possible a few homeless citizens took shelter somewhere in here too. It hadn't seemed anyone had been in here for ages, but there were other entrances, and the safest exit would probably be on the first level. Jumping from higher levels could be MUCH more dangerous.
After his thoughtful moment, Silver piped in his opinion, "I'd say stay down here. There could be a safer exit and on the upper levels it may not be-"
"Nope!" Silver furrowed his brow with Ashido's response, "You took too long to answer and we all chose an upper level. Well not everyone but most did, we want to see the old bedrooms and stuff!" Silver sighed, at least they had quirks…perhaps that would help somewhat if someone fell or got injured? Yoayarozu could make bandages…
Tokoyami sighed a little, "Plus I think no one wants to go in any basements." He held his lamp closer to himself and everyone went quiet thinking about what could be in a basement…NOPE!
The dressed-up cat girl got closer to the stairs before she was surrounded by a cyan glow, "HEY!"
"You don't know if the stairs are stable, at least check first…"
Izuku patted Silver's shoulder in an attempt to calm him down, and Silver just sighed worried, "Silver the stairs are stone, it's fine." Then she happily began walking up the 40-year-old stairs.
Thankfully the cracks weren't major in the stone below and it was…safe-ish to climb up. Once they reached the second floor they glanced around and shown their lamps. The floors were still dusty and untouched but were beautiful oak wood flooring, authentic. Silver flicked his ears a little, listening intently. He had to be on his top guard…amber eyes shot to the right, staring deeply into the hallway. Nothing appeared to be there, but he thought he heard creaking in the wood below, further down the halls. He stared and stared, but there was no movement nor any creaking. A soft sigh escaped the hedgie-boy, but he knew better than to guess it was a mental trick. He wasn't a stupid person in a horror movie! …hopefully…
He snapped his attention back to the class, who had infiltrated a room from a little bit down the left of the hall. Silver hesitated a little, torn between going to his friends or going down to where the creaking was. Splitting up from the team was a bad idea, so he let it go and scurried back to his friends quickly. He needed to prepare for a fight if he was going to go towards a creepy sound, and definitely needed to keep the group safe. The room the class had entered had beautiful cream-colored walls and tile flooring. It was still very dark, but what he could see was a nice room…or it was once. This made him wonder for a moment…had those rich people actually been remodeling this whole time…? Wouldn't they have to go out for supplies though?
"Oooo!" Uraraka motioned to a door off to the side, "This must be the closet!" It was weird to Silver, cause there were paint cans and hammers and a bag of nails just lying around. It was like this place was frozen in time…as Silver studied the objects lying around, even an old pair of shoes, the girls crowded around the 'closet' to see what dresses may be inside. "...huh?" Uraraka vocally questioned as she opened the door.
"What's the matter Uraraka?" Iida asked, moving towards his friend to get a closer look.
"This isn't a closet."
That perked everyone's attention and they all crowded around, but Silver was still studying the objects. The shoes indicated there was a male once in here, heavy sturdy boots, and there was also a…small female, shoe size was roughly 10 child's size. So a man and a little girl once were in here. A closer look indicated there were small toys scattered about, a small wood hammer, and some wood blocks.
"...I think this is a padded room." Now that perked Silver's attention. He spun up from his kneeling pose and hovered over the crowd, they were all crowded around a small padded room.
Izuku shuffled back, "T-Thats creepy…I…I don't know about this…what if we see a body?!" Izuku trembled with closed eyes, "I don't like this very much."
Ashido shuffled, "No, they can't sell a building to people if dead people are still inside." She rolled her eyes, but a soft scared glint was in her eyes, "S-Stop thinking stupid things Midoriya." Izuku muttered a soft apology and Silver landed behind the group, what could a padded room be doing here? Was it intentional?
As much as he hated it, Silver decided to peek more inside. So he shuffled into the dusty dirt-covered padded room and showed his lantern around, he wanted to make sure there wasn't anything suspicious. He looked for a few things; Blood, messages, weapons, evidence someone had been there beside them recently, and a secret room or tunnels. Iida pulled Silver out harshly and everyone at once scolded him for going in, saying it could be dangerous or have blood or be rotten…they were the ones to talk.
"Calm down," Silver sighed and shuffled back in, "I'm looking for something." Again the plumes of dust flew into the air as he stepped onto the padded floor. "It seems stable…" Gently he shone his light around, "No blood or scratches on the padding…" He gently weaseled his hand into the edges of the walls and flooring, "No weapons or notes…" The psychic gently pressed on each pad on the walls and floors then gently pulled them, seeing if any of them came off or pressed in like a button, "I don't-"
Everyone grew paralyzed stiff as Tsu shhed Silver. Why? Silver stood in the dirty small room and tried to see through the crowd of terrified teens, but there was nothing there. He reached out with his mind and there were no other being in the room with them, so Silver let out a shaky breath and turned back to the boards. (A\N; This part might be confusing, like how can Silver know if there are other minds? Well, it's like a radar in his head and he can feel if there are other conscious around, and souls fit under that. He uses this ability to use telepathy with a person, so if he wants to tell someone something he has to reach out and pin the one mind then make a link or whatever lol)
"There is nothing there…" Silver muttered, unsure why he couldn't raise his voice above a whisper. Maybe it was cause he was uneasy, but he decided to leave the padded room be and backed out of the room, "What's wrong?"
Aoyama whimpered and stepped closer to the group, "F-F-Foots-s-steps…"
Bakugo huffed and crossed his arms, stomping over to the door and peeking out. Like Silver said, no one appeared to be there. Mina suggested they go further into the mansion due to no much stuff being in this room. Everyone clung to one another like a train line as they crept farther into the mansion, and the fancy painting eyes seemed to follow them…Silver shook himself off and gripped onto his cloke to keep him calm. If he saw a doll though…
"M-My phone is not responding…I wanted to take a video…" Yaoyarozu sighed shuffling towards Todoroki and his light, "Can someone else take a video for me? I like to document the places I've been…" She muttered suddenly feeling unsure about her request.
"My phone won't respond either…"
"Huh? Mine either!"
"Why? Mine was fully charged before we entered! It's not dead…"
"Maybe mine will work? Nope…"
"I mean mine's kinda old and this happens often…but-"
"MY PHONE IS GONE!"
"WHAT?!"
"Oh wait…I left it in my candy basket…"
As everyone realized that the same thing that messed with the door was probably messing with their phones, there truly was no outside communication…something Silver had suspected but hoped he was wrong about. He just hoped they could get out…
SilverPsychic A classic kind of horror story lol, I don't like horror so this is a completely new genre for meee, please keep that in mind. If you have any ideas on how to make this better, please lemme know in the comments. ^^
Silver; What are you all gonna be for Halloween? It's quite close!
Izuku; I'm not quite sure yet…
SilverPsychic; …hehe…
