Chapter 22; Plastic Eyes and Luring Ruby

Rooms upon rooms, halls upon halls, walls upon walls. It seemed like they were going in circles, it was a three-story or so tall building yet they couldn't find the stairs up or down. All the rooms and walls were the same maze over and over, same child's room, same operating room, same office, same broken instruments, same equipment, same staring dolls. It had to have been 1 AM at this point, everyone was hungry, tired, on edge, and snappy. There was no escape, no rest, and no food or water. On top of that, they hadn't found anything creepy, but there was an odd negative aura in the air that made everyone at each other's throats and act like Bakugo. Even Silver wasn't spared from this negativity as he growled down the same hall they had walked down for the 50th time.

"We must have missed something…" Mina muttered with a sigh, trying to remain calm, "There must have been another hall or door…"

Silver rolled his eyes, "Well, there isn't." His bitter mood leaked into his words as he spat them out harshly, obviously tired from going in circles for hours.

"Silver," Deku said through gritted teeth, "She's trying to help us get somewhere." Silver rolled his eyes and Izuku narrowed his eyes, "I don't see you helping. At. All." Silver's ears bent back and his growling echoed across the walls, "Shouldn't you be using your mind to look for ghosts or something?!"

The hedgie boy's fists clenched and his body shook with rage, "I'm not your ghost radar! You do that yourself!" He threw his hand forward, motioning towards the costumed acid hero, "You trust in HER navigation abilities a lot more! We are going NOWHERE!"

"HEY!" Ashido shouted and turned towards the bickering besties, "Leave me out of your fight." She started forward again before sarcastically saying, "If you don't think I'm doing good enough, then you can leave. Since you'd be oh-so-safe by yourself."

That caused Silver to stop, "Thank Chaos, I think I will. Have fun getting out." He turned on his heel and walked back towards the office room, figuring it would be the safest.

He huffed harshly as he stomped into the old room, his lantern swinging back and forth with his movements. The psychic glanced around, this room was also frozen in time. Yeah, 40-year-old food would be gross but he's eaten 200-year-old food, if he could find anything that would be fine. He scavenged the drawers and bookshelves, the in-between couches, and every crack and crevice in the entire office. Without much luck, Silver sighed and sat down. Maybe it was best to try and just sleep? There was no way he was going to stay awake for the whole night plus there was nothing creepy going on at the moment…after a nap, he'd check more around his surroundings. As hungry as he was, he was more sleepy and worn out. He considered snuffing out his lamp but chose against it, instead lighting the candles all around before placing his lantern hanging above the bookshelf.

So with that done, he picked a far corner and took off his cape, turned into a hedgehog, and curled up into a little ball. He covered himself up with the cape so he'd blend into the dark and he closed his eyes. Drifting off came much easier than he thought but he jolted awake when he heard clear footsteps outside the room. That's right though, his class was still wandering in circles. The freshman rolled his hedgehog eyes and gently let out some calming mist. The soft mist made him drift off into a dreamless light sleep much faster, allowing Silver to have a moment of peace on this cursed Holliday.

He didn't dare move. Cold sweat poured from every fiber of his body. The hedgehog wouldn't even allow himself to breathe, hoping and praying that the cape blended him into the darkness enough. What was the cause of this? Yes, he was asleep, but he was in that light sleep where he could hear everything going on around him still. And he had to have been asleep for about an hour, which is great news. But the curious thing was he hadn't heard any more footsteps since before he fell asleep…but what terrified him was he could hear bedraggled breathing in the room with him. It wasn't like 'Oh Midoriya just ran too much and is now out of breath and panting' No…it was like 'Creepy slobbery monster that wants to eat you is panting' and it was terrifying.

He would just feel cold orbs glaring at him under the cape, and the poor teen could only hope this was still a dream. Getting his class was a no, and he felt so guilty for leaving them. Silver couldn't help but tremble a little as the breathing got closer and he felt on the edge of fainting. Petrified in his spot, he could only slowly close his eyes and wait. And wait…and wait…and wait…and wait…and wait some more. Holding his breath for this long made him feel like he was going to suffocate. He needed to breathe but was too scared to…in all honesty, he knew he could fight whatever was outside this cape but for some reason, being in his hiding place made him more scared of it than he should have been.

Silver should be readying for a fight…yet he was just cowering waiting for something to happen or for it to pass. Nothing happened and the breathing was no longer there, but he never heard the footsteps or heard it leave…he knew it was waiting. But his lungs burned and his vision filled with small stars, causing him to let out his breath and take a new breath quickly. …

…nothing happened…was he safe? No, he knew better than to expect to be safe. So he held his breath until he saw stars again, quick out and in then repeat. This happened for about 4 more times, and he knew he could hold his breath for about 2 minutes…12 minutes, and still nothing happened? (A\N; Maths) Pausing, Silver listened and still heard utter silence. Nothing…so he shifted. S-Still nothing? The psychic decided to risk it and took off the cape. His eyes meet with—!

…darkness.

The freshman blinked, turning on his not-very-helpful night vision again. There was no one around…but all the candles were snuffled out. This wasn't a good feeling…he turned into his human form and snapped his cape on. Floating in his power gave a soft glow, which let him see a little better but again not by much. There was no one around. That just left him confused and on edge, was it a dream? No…he was awake. He floated around and looked for anything else out of place but didn't find anything odd. So what was that? WAIT WAS IT HIS CLASS PLAYING A PRANK?! Silver pouted, feeling that was probably what happened, they were probably giggling down that hall or something. He went to grab his lantern if this prank was to make him scared and come back with his tail between his legs… Unfortunately, it was working.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

Silver scrambled back upon letting out an ear-piercing scream, by his lantern…two glowing red eyes and a glowing dangling ruby sat leaning against the light trap. The horrified hedgehog tripped and stumbled, crashing into old desks and throwing papers around in his fit. This wasn't real, no way! It, IT COULDN'T BE! His heart was having issues deciding whether to sink or pound out of his chest. His lungs couldn't gather any air. His legs faltered as their bones turned to jello. His head tipped and turned as he reached for something, anything. The freaked-out teen forced himself to stand up from behind the desk after grabbing a book…only to find those glowing stones and orbs on the desk. The teen let out another bloody murder scream and threw the desk forward.

Tails Doll.

The most horrifying 'plushy' thing Eggman had ever made. Even the inventor himself was scared of the demon he made…

IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE HERE! IT COULDN'T BE! Silver jolted out of that room faster than when Sonic saw fresh free chili dogs. The adrenaline pumped through his veins and he tripped upon his boots. Getting up he again saw that CURSED DOLL! It moved toward Silver most chillingly and Silver threw it in his power, he had to find his class. They had to get out! NOW! (A\N; …I dunno that Tails Doll is cursed but uh…he shall be in this fanfic! UwU) All the halls looked the same, all the photos and the rooms! THIS WAS A GOOD NOT TIME FOR A CURSED MAZE LOO-AHHHHHHHHH! Everywhere, in front, behind, in the paintings, on the ceiling, in the rooms, on the walls, to his left, to his right, TAILS DOLL WAS EVERYWHERE! The poor hyperventilating teen couldn't escape him! It was like a nightmare but in real life!

His class wasn't anywhere eith-AGAIN! Silver shrieked and scrambled back, shooting in the opposite direction once again. This doll wanted the teen's blood, and he wasn't going to let that stupid doll have it! Silver checked in each room with no sign of his friends. Then the first room they found came up…and Silver jolted inside. The padded room. He wasn't sure why but out of fear his brain thought 'I'll close myself in the room and the doll won't get me!' so he did just that. Slamming the door and causing a dust explosion inside the room but Silver didn't care…he took a moment to breathe the dusty air and looked for the doll…it wasn't in there. After a moment of calming down, he realized he was in the padded room, the room meant for crazy people…maybe this is what the doll wanted!

No, no…there isn't anything dangerous in here…so Silver waited until he was sure the doll had left, no longer seeing its red glow at the bottom of the door. Then he waited a few moments before attempting to open the door. Just as he feared…it was locked from the outside…and these padded rooms were soundproof! He made…the biggest mistake…besides short of just walking into the doll's killer arms. The teen slunk down and curled up on the floor…he was so stupid. He didn't even remember why he had been mad but it was so stupid! He was stuck in here until someone found him, likely no one or the doll. His class probably guessed he made it out already and wouldn't care to go back in…maybe he could pick the lock?

Silver's lent closer to the door and placed his ear on it and carefully twisted and turned knobs until he heard it click! Silver smiled and reached for the door before realizing the lock reset….WHO HAS A LOCK LIKE THAT?! Silver huffed and tried again same outcome. Again and again and again and AGAIN! Ok, picking the lock was out of the question. Silver leaned against the back wall, he could break down the door…? No, if someone still did own the place he would be sued for property damage…break the lock? Also not the best idea, since this lock kept resetting, he might just jam it locked forever so no one could get him. Maybe he could just sleep a little more. He wasn't in the open and was still kinda sleepy…

He couldn't do anything due to his current condition, and telepathy would take too much. So if he slept a little longer he could recharge and tell someone via telepathy what happened. Silver nodded to his plan and curled up on the padded floor, at least he had plenty of pillows…(A\N; Anyone else think sleep sounds good?)

Silver slept a lot better inside the padded room, which was good but that's that. He slept so well that he forgot what happened. He lazily woke up from a dream in which he was eating strawberry cake and glanced around. Silver muttered confusion while looking for a nonexistent light switch. In an awkward haze, the psychic sighed and gave up, trying to remember what had happened. He froze hearing a jiggling with the door nob and fear flashed into him. The lost hedgie-boy stood up and braced himself, but was met with a nice surprise.

The door opened and a lantern swung into his hiding spot, causing him to hiss a little and blink vigorously with the new light. "Silver?" That voice made him jump onto the person holding the contained fire, "Whoa, Whoa, Silver are you ok?"

"Yeah," Silver said tightly hugging Izuku, "Just a little shaken." That confused the class behind the teen, "I'm so sorry that I was fighting with you."

"It's ok, but seriously what happened? Shaken?"

Tokoyami nodded from behind them, "Yes, we haven't encountered anything out of the ordinary so your state is quite peculiar." Silver backed out of the hug, they hadn't seen…anything weird while he was gone?! What about that demon creepy slobbery breathing monster thing-?!

"...you are kidding…"

Kirishima shook his head, "Nah everything has been quite chill, we even found some emergency food and took naps." The hedgie boy's jaw fell open in surprise, "It's kinda nice in here besides the freaky vibe." No…Silver shook his head that couldn't be right! "What?"

The costumed teen fiddled with his cape and sighed, "Ok, I regret this whole trip…" His stomach growled and his face flushed and Ashido grinned, "Yeah yeah, I know you were right…I slept a little but I heard something like a rabid demon, so I didn't sleep for long." Silver decided to leave the part about Tails Doll out for the moment…plus he didn't want to summon it, "Scared the fluff outta me and I panicked and ran into here. I got locked in and so uh…yeah…"

"Ehh, creepy demon thing? Dang!" Kaminari shouted and laughed, "You shoulda stayed with us~!" Silver huffed a little and avoided the joking gaze, "Oh wait, we did encounter one weird thing."

That made those pouty ears perk right back up, "What?"

"Well," Mineta piped up, "We just found our way outta the weird maze and then we went downstairs to try and leave cause we thought you left and we were hungry," Silver glanced down, yeah his assumption of them thinking he was out was right, "There was a note on the door that said-"

"Survive till 9:00 am tomorrow and the door will unlock, but there is always a price…"

"HEY!" Mineta shouted at Kaminari who grinned before the two got into a bickering fight.

The hedgehog stayed silent as he processed this new information, who wanted them to stay in? Was Tails Doll an illusion due to the quirk of the real villain? Or was it Eggman and a sick game of lab rats? Silver wouldn't put anything off the table, at the moment, you could have said that it What did they mean by…price? was the moon and a peanut butter jar plotting all this and he would have believed it. The teen sighed trying to let out some of his buzzing anxiety.

The floating skeleton of Hagakure spoke up, "Rabid demon sounds pretty bad though, I don't think we should joke about this…"

"Tch," the costumed werewolf Bakugo scoffed, "It doesn't take much to scare Pigtails." Silver pouted but couldn't deny the fact, "It was probably just a dream," The ivory teen huffed up to protest, "did you ever see the rabbit demon? Or just 'hear' it?" Silver paused, no he didn't see it but… "Exactly, Pigtails is just a scaredy-cat and had a bad dream."

Everyone was silent as they let Bakugo's logic seep in and Silver grumbled, "Well if it was a bad dream I guess we are ok…" Izuku softly stated, "…but maybe we should be a little more-"

"A haunted doll chased me…"

All eyes turned to Silver who had his arms crossed and ears back with a frown plastered on his face. Yes, he didn't want to mention Tails Doll but he couldn't let his "oh no I'm an alien" issue put his friend's lives at stake. Again everyone was dead silent and it sounded as if no one even dared to breathe. After a few silent moments, Bakugo again scoffed.

"Don't make up stuff to 'scare' us." He rolled his eyes, but there was a hint of worry in his demeanor, "We don't-"

Silver straightened up, "I'm not lying." His voice was dead serious and his face locked in deadpanning at Bakugo, "I don't have a reason to lie about it."

Ashido shifted a little closer to the group, "You were chased by a haunted doll? That's…" Everyone realized in sync that being trapped was an issue and could mean life or death, "…explain what happened." She said seriously, everyone going into hero mode to better think of an escape plan.

"Well, I stomped into the office room and decided to sleep under my cape." Silver began, "I fell asleep but woke up to a terrible panting sound right by me so I didn't move and after a few moments it stopped but I didn't do anything for like twenty minutes." The psychic fidgeted with his cape recalling the events, "I decided to check out what was going on but there was nothing there so I did think I just had a bad dream or it was a prank from you guys…I hate to admit it but that alone scared me enough and I was ready to go back to the group. I had my lantern lit before I went to sleep…but it was snuffed out when I woke up. So I went to grab it and a doll jumped out from beside my lantern."

Todoroki frowned, "I suppose the fire could die out after a while but ours have been lit this whole time." He looked up into Silver's eyes and asked, "You are sure the doll didn't just fall off? Dolls can't jump."

"Todoroki," Silver said with a soft smile, "This doll was alive. And it jumped." The psychic shivered a little recalling the unnerving motion it moved in, "I threw a desk at it but it still chased me. I felt like I was in a classic horror movie, I was trapped going in circles looking for you guys with that cursed doll chasing me…I locked myself into the padded room and the doll walked away. I ended up falling back asleep in there but that doll could still be around…"

Yaoyorozu glanced around, "I don't see any dolls in here," She sighed and let her fists relax a little, "I don't think we can get out. With the sign on the door and the issue of the illusions and mazes, it may be better if we just try to survive." Silver shook his head harshly, and a few of the others looked skeptical.

"Whoever put the note on the door, wants us in here. We need to get out as soon as we can. There could be a major villain behind all of this, and it's not smart we play into their game unless we are 100% positive there is no way to get out." Silver tossed a glance around to make sure it was still safe in this room, nothing seemed off so he continued, "If we can't get out we need to find the main issue for all this. I will make this very clear; We Can't Play Into Their Little Game. If there is no escape then we need to fight the mind behind this, this isn't a coincidence."

Kirishima laughed, "OK so we are to fight a GHOST?!" His laughter turned to worry when Silver didn't budge, "Wait… you're serious? How do we fight a ghost?"

Izuku frowned with a thought, "I get Silver's thought process, Perhaps the villain wants us to think they're a ghost. With quirks anything is possible…but fighting something unknown head on isn't smart. And we can't plan out loud because the villain may be listening." Silver nodded and his ears drooped, he got the hint he needed to use telepathy with them all…though he'd never used telepathy with that many people before. (A/N: Tbh writing this chapter feels a little too real and creepy T.T The sooner done the sooner I don't have to think about Tails Doll!)

"I agree but I can't, I don't have enough energy nor have I done it with so many people before." Silver said fidgeting with his sleeve, an air of unease creeping into him without meaning.

Ojiro glanced around, "Do what-?"

Izuku quickly waved it off, "It doesn't matter at the moment, we can't give any important information to the villain." He looked at Silver with a serious face, "We need a plan to at least get you enough energy before we make a main plan. Do we stay here and scavenge or attempt to find a safer place?"

"I think as long as this room is safe we can stay here." Kaminari said glancing around, "We shouldn't be too risky now we know it's kinda life or death…" A few nods were shared among the teens and Silver was one of them, "So we should camp here for a little and make a more solid plan."

"After," Silver quickly interjected, "We make sure this place is at least sorta safe."

They then placed two teams of three to check the room to make sure it was safe, while everyone else huddled in the corner and waited. Ashido, Bakugo, and Kirishima were on the first team while Izuku, Iida, and Uraraka were in the second one. Silver was on the inside of a little circle for some reason and he kinda didn't care. He was more focused on waiting for the teams to return. Since the room wasn't too big, it only took about 5 minutes for both teams to thoroughly look through the room. They came back together in one team of six.

"To report, the room is safe besides a little bit of mold on the right corner wall due to bad painting," Iida said with a wave of his hand and the push of his glasses. Everyone let out a sigh and relaxed a bit while Silver closed his eyes with peace.

Ashido piped up, "Yep! All safe! And I found something really cute!" Silver perked up innocently expecting something….cute, what else would he think it was? Instead, the black cat teen smiled as she held up a little fox plush, "Isn't it cute?! I love it so much!" Then she proceeded to snuggle the stupid thing.

Silver, on the other hand, took a moment to process this before jumping up and shrieking like a little girl. Everyone turned to him, his eyes wide and the ivory hero was practically pinned to the wall in fear. "G-G-Get r-rid of it-t…" Silver stammered unintentionally stumbling on his words, only knowing his friend was cuddling death in doll form.

"Why?" Mina questioned, "It's innocent! You said it was a doll that chased you! This is a plushy!" The teen said with a smile, Silver just silently shaking his head, "And it's here to raise your spirits!" She said in a high tone, gently wagging it closer to Silver.

The hedgehog boy on the other hand shrieked again and somehow squished even closer against the wall, "Only thing it's gonna do to my spirit is EAT IT! GET IT AWAY FROM ME!" Silver cried as the acidic hero shoved it closer to him, "DOLL! PLUSHY! SAME DARN THING! GET IT AWAYYYYYYYYYY!"

"Wait," Izuku said stepping closer to the bickering pair, "This is the thing that chased you?" Silver nodded quickly and scrambled as far as he could away from it when Mina lunged it into his face, "I'm with Ashido on this, it's not done anything so far. And to be honest I think it's adorable!" Midoriya said with a smile and some others nodded while Bakugo scoffed.

Man, they all turned from one side to another, switching opinions faster than Amy squeezing the life out of Sonic. Silver huffed, if they weren't gonna believe him then what? He was supposed to prove he knew this thing was haunted? How? Say 'Oh ThAtS tAiLs DoLl AnD iT cOmEs FrOm My WoRlD sO yOu CaN tRuSt I kNoW iTs HaUnTeD'? Nope! Mina decided that Silver was paranoid and just had an irrational fear of dolls and plushies, so she decided to -oh so helpfully- help him get over that fear. How you asked? By shoving Tails Doll into his arms.

SilverPsychic; That's the end of this chapter! So sorry that this has been…delayed. T.T But now it's here for ya all! ^^
