Chapter 14 - Sam

A/N: I want to thank everyone that has been reading this story. It means a lot to me. I wasn't sure how this story was going to go when I first got the idea for it but I'm overwhelmed by the number of views and reviews that this story has gotten. You guys are amazing. And don't think that I don't read the reviews because I do and I take your thoughts into consideration when I write chapters. I know that this story seems to be moving slower than my normal stuff and that's because it was brought to my attention that with my story True Love, it was fast paced and unrealistic. Hope you guys are enjoying this more.

I'd finally gotten a meeting with the council to discuss Bella and Jared's imprint. None of us knew why it had taken so long for Jared to be able to imprint on her. It should have happened months ago when she'd slapped Paul. But it didn't. But there had to be a reason for that, right? Jared had showed me a conversation that he'd had with Bella and they had a theory. I was going to bring it up to the council and see if it had merit. When I walked into the Tribal Center, the Elders were already waiting for me. I took my seat and waited for them to start the meeting. "Alright Sam. We're all here." Billy said.

"Jared has imprinted on Bella Swan." I said.

"But how?" Sue asked.

"We're not entirely sure. We…Jared and Bella think that Cullen was dazzling her somehow. It would explain why when they left the first time, that Bella was catatonic. We think that he might have had her under some type of spell…so to speak." I told them.

"It would make sense. Everything that we know about vampires…it tells us that everything about them draws humans to them." Old Quil said. "It would make sense that when Cullen left and she went into her catatonic state that it would be the same as if a drug addict was going through withdrawals. With her ending the relationship this time…Maybe it was her way of freeing herself."

The entire council nodded. "So what do we do?" Billy asked.

"I think that we should maybe speak to Carlisle Cullen. Ask him about if it's possible." Billy suggested.

I nodded. "There's something else. The pack and I have been talking. We know that due to the extended stay of the Cullen's, that it was the reason that we all phased, with contributions to the nomads that passed through. We've been wondering if you'd think about letting the younger wolves quit phasing. There's enough of us to protect the tribe and the imprints with just the older wolves." I said.

"It would just be the younger wolves?" Sue asked. I knew what she was thinking…Leah.

"My thought is Brady and Collin definitely. Seth if he wants. And Leah. We all know that it was something that she never wanted." I said.

The council nodded. "Give us time to think about it and we'll get back to you on it." Billy said and I nodded before making my way out of the Tribal Center.

When I got back to my house, Bella and Emily were in the kitchen finishing up food for the bonfire that night. "Sam! Perfect timing." Emily said.

"What's up?" I asked her.

"We're gonna need you and the boys to get the tables and load them in the back of your truck so we can start loading the food up." Emily said.

"Of course." I said. I headed outside and walked over to the tree line. I took my shorts off and phased.

"Hey Sam." Embry said in the pack mind.

"Embry. I need you to gather the guys and come to my house. The girls are ready to start loading up." I told him.

"Sure thing. Paul and Jared are at the beach gathering wood. What about Jake?" He asked me.

"See if he feels like coming. Pretty he doesn't wanna miss this one." I said.

"Your right. See you soon." Embry said and I phased out.

Pulling my shorts back on, I headed back into the house. "They'll be here soon." I said and the girls smiled at me.
