Ricco Harbor

Mario tensed up and readied himself as the Mecha Gooper Blooper lifted up into the air from the thrust under its torso, and spun appendages around and sprayed black ink out its tentacle ends that splattered outwards to the edges of the hexagonal arena, leaving Mario stuck on the inside of the arena unless he chose to rinse the inky away; the platform of the arena had grates, which allowed water from below to shoot up, and allow Mario to refill on water as well. Taking all this into account, it seemed Bowser Junior took everything into account to give Mario the tool to win.

As the Mech was flown through the air and around the arena, it halted to momentarily hover just outside the edge of the arena.

Mecha Gooper Blooper

The engine of the mech began to whir up with energy, before it began to spin around its tentacles at a fast speed, and before Mario knew it, the mech hurled itself with its spinning appendages at him. "Mario, watch-" Was all FLUDD got to say, before the mech managed to hit Mario with its spinning tentacles, and launch him off the arena. "Waaaoooohhh!" Mario yelled as he fell to the water below, and crashed into the ocean with a harsh splash.

The Mech slowed down its spinning tentacles, and finally landed onto the floor of the arena on the tips of its appendages, the hatch of the gyrosphere on the torso of the Mech opened up, with Bowser Junior stepping out a bit with a troubled look. "Uh…did I set the settings too high?" he questioned himself, while scratching his scalp, before shrugging and took out a large notepad and blue crayon, and began jotting down notes. "Ease…up…on…the…speed…and…power…." he mumbled to himself.

Later

After what seemed like the tenth time we found himself getting launched off from the arena by an unavoidable attack by Junior mecha Gooper Blooper, Mario swam through the water and got onto dry land of the harbor, and breathed out a tired sigh. He didn't know whether it was the trick of his mind, or something, but it seemed like the little boss fight he had against Bowser Junior within Ricco Harbor was steadily becoming easier.

And he wasn't speaking of getting used to telegraphed moves, or easily avoidable whiffs of the mech's tentacles he was now able to dodge; for whatever reason, it seemed Junior was gauging their fight and not making it too hard. During one of the tries he attempted against the Mecha Gooper Blooper. Bowser even commented while piloting the mech, something about making the difficulty too hard on a second world stage.

Mario didn't know, it was too hard to hear really with all the jets going off from the mech as it flew around the arena to attack him.

Bowser Junior

"Hrm…" Junior hummed as he held his large notepad out, and wrote into with with his blue crayon, "Pa always said, don't go too overboard on the beginning stages…I see what he meant." he mumbled to himself with a frown, as he sat on the edge of the hatch of his cockpit; on a total blunder on his part, he sacrificed the ventilation system for more system power, so realistically he couldn't stay inside the mecha Gooper Blooper for too long, else he suffocate from the mech's internal heat.

Sure, he and his Pa could handle swimming in lava and all that, but humid heat after prolonged periods didn't do well for his scales, it made him feel itchy and want to take a bath in lava all over again…and he didn't feel like going back up to the volcano and be bothered by his Pa about why he hasn't kidnapped Princess Peach yet. "Stupid Pa!" Junior grumbled to himself as he glanced in the direction of the volcano of Isle Delfino.

"I don't give a cracked shell over Peach, I wanna fight against Mario!" Junior petulantly remarked, before letting out an exhausted sigh as he felt the internal heat and smelled the burning fumes from the cockpit exit out and hit his nostrils. Bowser Junior scrunched up his nose in annoyance, and began to jot down into his notepad.

"Don't…sacrifice…cooling…on…inside…mech…" Bowser Junior continued to talk to himself, this whole boss fight was a bust; goes to show you really should think things through; He could have built the mech bigger to fit the cooling system in, but then his replica of Gooper Blooper would end up at least one point five times larger…. "I mean, at the end of the day, it's still a boss right?" Junior asked himself as he scratched his head with his index finger.

A loud boom echoed from the inside the cockpit, prompting bowser Junior to look over his shoulder, and see that the console for the controls caught on fire; Sparks began to fly from out of the fire, as some of it fell out of the open cockpit, and onto the nearby black ink…."Wait…I think pa said that stuff was flammable…uhoh."

"It's gonna blow!" Junior yelled as he pocketed his notepad and crayon, hopped off the hatch door, and began to make a run for it to jump off the boss arena. Time felt it was moving slow for Junior as he ran as fast as his small feet could take him; More sparks erupted out of the cockpit of the mech, and onto the black ink, followed by the sound of whooshing fire.

Mario

Just as Mario was about to hop his way up onto the platforms leading up to the boss arena, he heard the distinct voice of Bowser Junior yelling, 'It's gonna blow!', shortly after, Mario witnessed the little tyke leap off from the edge of the arena, and not even a second sooner, a massive explosion erupted from the boss arena, followed by pieces of the Gooper Blooper mech flying in every direction.

The shockwave of the fireball explosion pushed Bowser Junior mid-leap, thus sending him hurtling past Mario, followed by Mario getting hit as well by the aftershock explosion that allowed the fireball explosion to expand upwards and be seen for miles around the island. Both former combatants ended up getting sent crashing into the nearest Building's windows, followed by the incoming debris getting blown in as well from the shockwave of the explosion that sent both of them crashing into the building.

Delfino Plaza

Princess Peach and Toadsworth can be seen on the east side of the plaza, where while Toadsworth was pacing around and grumbling about the mess they found themselves in, Peach simply smiled and relaxed as she sat on the beach with a beach towel under her; She had faith in Mario to save the isle, like he always has for the Mushroom kingdom. It was then a large boom echoed from the west, in the general direction of Isle Delfino's Ricco Harbor, "Oh my!" Peach shouted as she stumbled and stood up to turn and look.

Rising high enough for her and everyone else to see regardless of their location, a large fireball could be seen expanding upwards and then settled and dissipated after a few minutes passed.

"My word!" Gasped Toadsworth in shock.

"Mario!" Peach said with her gloved hand over her mouth in worry.

Ricco Harbor

"Mama mia!" Mario remarked as he stumbled out of the doorway of the building he crashed into, while holding his head from the daze he was feeling.

FLUDD turned her nozzle to speak to Mario, with an unsure tone, "Mario…I think you won…" She remarked, as in the distance on the boss arena that was burned from the massive explosion, and where the mech once was, floated a Shine Sprite in all its shiny glory.

He supposed he did win, he didn't exactly get booted out from the area, thus he never really started over any boss fight…perhaps he was supposed to do whatever that caused the mech to explode.

Pulling himself up over the broken window, Bowser Junior hung over the edge with a burnt shell and bruised face, "You win this time Mario, but just you wait, next time I'll remember to install a better coolant system!"

Mario while he glanced at Junior. "..." He blinked in confusion.

Junior puffed his cheeks out in annoyance, and stomped his way out of the building and grumbled to himself as he took his leave of the area.

As Bowser Junior disappeared from sight, Mario shrugged to himself, one more Shine Sprite down he supposed.
