PART TWO: The Princess and the Queen

It is the one hundredth and twenty-third year of Targaryen rule, and King Viserys I Targaryen has just reached the twentieth year of his reign, and in his court, two separate factions have begun to form.

The first is the Princess's party, also known as the "Reds", led by Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, the eldest child of King Viserys and his first wife, Queen Consort Aemma Arryn. The Reds are those who support Princess Rhaenyra as King Viserys' heir. Her party's most prominent supporters include House Lannister, the house of Princess Rhaenyra's husband, Lord Jason, who is also the father of her son, Prince Baelon, as well as King Viserys himself, who affirms that his daughter should remain as heir.

The second is the party of the Queen, also known as the "Blues", led by Queen Consort Laena Velaryon, the second wife of King Viserys. The Blues are those who support Prince Daeron, the eldest child of King Viserys and Queen Laena, and also the firstborn son of King Viserys, as being his father's heir. The Queen's party's most prominent supporter is House Velaryon, the house of Queen Laena's father, Lord Corlys. House Velaryon also have previous grievances with House Targaryen, as Lord Corlys' wife, Princess Rhaenys, was passed over as the heir to Old King Jaehaerys many years ago in favour of King Viserys himself. Along with Prince Daeron, Queen Laena also has two other children with King Viserys: Princess Baela and a younger son welcomed ever so recently.

Though Princess Rhaenyra is married to Lord Jason Lannister, she continues a secret romance with Ser Harwin Strong, son of the current Hand, Lord Lyonel, which may have devastating implications for her claim should it be discovered.

Meanwhile, on Driftmark, House Velaryon has entered into a marriage pact with House Hightower. Lady Alicent, daughter of Ser Otto Hightower, former Hand of the King, has married Ser Laenor, heir to Driftmark, and their marriage has recently borne two children. To solidify their alliance, Lady Jocelyn, the young granddaughter of Ser Otto, has also been betrothed to Prince Daeron.

All the way to the west, Ser Tyland Lannister, younger twin brother to Lord Jason, rules Casterly Rock as castellan, and is married to Lady Johanna Westerling. Their marriage has resulted in two twin girls, Tyshara and Cerelle. Though House Lannister already have a royal marriage to their name, the lions may still be hungry.

To the south, Ser Otto resides in Oldtown, along with his elder brother Lord Hobert, whilst Lord Hobert's son Ser Ormund prepares for lordship following his father's poor health.

Across the Narrow Sea, Daemon Targaryen, also known as the Rogue Prince, has taken up residence in Pentos, having married the daughter of a Pentoshi Prince. Yet, he may turn his attention back westwards to King's Landing and the Iron Throne.

All the while, members of House Targaryen and Velaryon both ride dragons, the greatest power this world has ever seen, and many more remain unclaimed in the wild...

Will Rhaenyra still remain as her father's heir, or shall her younger brother be named in her stead? And if King Viserys does not change his succession, how shall Queen Laena and Prince Daeron react?

Who shall prevail, the Reds or the Blues - The Princess or the Queen?
