Episode 0: Emma

16 year old Emma Agreste stared at the bakery. It honestly looked just like she remembered when she was smaller.

Emma took a deep breath gripping the straps on her backpack and duffle bag. She could do this. She waited for the blonde girl and the black haired boy to leave the bakery before heading inside, Emma slipped in and looked around. It was later in the day so it was empty, there weren't that many baked goods left in to display for example.

Turned away from the counter was a woman she recognized. Her hair had more gray than she saw from the video calls.

"One moment," The one woman called as she messed with some cookies.

"I can wait. No rush, Grandmere," Emma smiled.

The woman, Sabine Cheng, froze and turned to stare wide eyed at Emma.

"Hi, I decided to come early. I hope thats-" Emma yelped as her grandmother ran around the counter and wrapped her into a hug and started sobbing.

Hearing the sobs from the kitchen came barreling out her husband, Tom Dupain, who took one look at his wife hugging their granddaughter that they hadn't seen in person in 10 years, and ran over to wrap her in a hug as well.

Emma hugged them back and only stopped when she had to ask for air to breath.

Hugo didn't have any hair last time they had been together in person. It was hard to reconcile the baby her parents let her hold with this blonde haired 10 year old that was jumping around the room asking her questions.

"Hugo," Sabine lightly scolded, "Your sister is probably tired. Let her rest."

"But…." The ten year old pouted, looking up at Emma.

This caused her to smile and kneel down, at ten he was barely short enough for this to still work, and she meet him at his eye level and ruffled his blonde locks, "Tell you what. After a power nap, you and I can decorated my room. Some quality brother-sister time. Sound good?"

Hugo face lite up and he ran up the stairs, "I have some stuff that totally can go in the room!"

Emma watched with amusement as her baby brother jumped up the stairs at a time, "So the boys have Mom's old room?"

Sabine looked at her granddaughter, "Yes, Louis has the loft obviously. That old lounge chaise was moved for Hugo's bed."

Emma nodded, "So where is Louis?"

"I texted him," Sabine looked down at her phone in disappointment, "But…"

The teen wished she could be surprised. Louis had never seemed that engaged in their calls. Plus, he had always been closer to Emilie than her.

Emma sat on the bed with black sheets and looked around the room, her new room. Yes, it was smaller than her room in New York. But honestly it didn't matter. The dark green walls were calming.

After reflection Grandmere Nathalie was right. She probably needed to get away from their old place, so she would stop expecting Grandpere Gabriel to appear around the corner when he just wasn't anymore. He couldn't. Just like Dad, Mom, and Emilie were never coming back either.

Emma sighed at the thought as she glanced at the side table now covered with medicine and a family picture of Adrien, Marinette, Emma, Emilie, Louis, and Hugo.

Nope, she wasn't allowed to be sad. She pulled out her phone and turned around to do a selfie as to show her friends Rachel and Jake the start of her Paris adventures but paused and catching sight of a gift on her desk in her phone.

Emma walked over and saw an old chinese looking box. Well, she was 1/4 Chinese so that made sense?

She looked at the note beside and smile softly as she read it.

Em, Welcome Home. This was your parents'. We hope you like it. - Grandpere, Grandmere, Louis, and Hugo.

A little tear welled up in her eyes but she whipped theme away and picked up the box.

"I wonder what this is…." Emma thought out loud as she opened releasing a bright green like from it.

This is the longest fic I've written, longer than my history/literature papers even and I started it 4 years ago. This has been a lot of fun and with only 24 chapters to go I hope we end it with a bang. So thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy it.
