Chapter 14: A love that will last
A.N: Bella is 17/ Sam is 18 with the body of a 30-year-old.
Samuel's eyes shot open.
What time was it? where was he? Was that bacon he smelled?
With steady and quiet feet he made his way through his home, his nose being filled with the smell of Bacon, eggs, croissants, and…izzy.
She's here. That hadn't been a dream at all.
He was now practically sprinting through the house. He stormed into the kitchen to find Izzy. Her hair was in a messy bun, barefoot and she was wearing his sweater which was practically a dress on her.
"you are wearing our clothes.." he announced as he strode towards her.
She turned to him with a bright smile, a glass of orange juice in her hand.
"good morning, uh I'm sorry, the dress I wore last night was so uncomfortable. And..wearing your clothes feels good. It makes me feel closer to you. I hope that's not weird." She explained with a blush.
In three strides Samuel was in front of her, his hands gripping her hips and placing her on his counters.
A growl permeated the air as he realized she wasn't wearing any panties.
"oh butterfly your not wearing any panties…"
He felt her shiver at his touch and the most addicting scent filled his senses.
She was turned on, and so was he.
"Sam? My Sam…will you kiss me ..please?"
"you never have to ask.." he growled.
He then captured her lips with his.
After a few moments, he pulled back. Placed his forehead against hers.
"last night was the best sleep of my life." He confessed.
She laughed.
"me too, Sam. Me too. Are you hungry?" she asked.
"yes, please. And then we can talk. I want to get everything out in the open before we move forward."
Once again fear and nervousness emitted from Izzy as they made their way to the breakfast nook.
They stayed in consistent physical contact as they ate, a comfortable silence between them.
" thank you for cooking. I rarely use the kitchen. I am always so busy and sometimes the silence is crushing." He admitted
"You welcome. I understand about busy lifestyles and..being lonely." She told him as their eyes locked. Understanding and empathy passed between them.
" let's go to the living room and talk." He said with a serious tone.
" Would you like to go first?" he questioned.
He watched as she took a deep breath, her body trembling.
He took her into his lap, nuzzling her neck.
" ssshhh, butterfly. Deep breaths just tell me the truth." He assured.
With a deep breath, she told him the truth, the whole truth.
Her parents were killed by rogue vampires.
She was then raised by ancient vampires, and now her life was forfeit. She was to rule the vampire world by the time she was 19. Not to mention she was living with the freaking Cullens and was supposedly a potential mate to the mind reader.
Samuel closed his eyes and commanded their wolf to calm down. His wolf wanted blood, wanted to kill.
However, he would not lose control with his true mate in his lap. He was a leader, an alpha. He had self-control.
" very well, I understand your situation is complicated. Your parentage and who raised you is not your fault. Even now, it seems the cold ones fill every inch of your life and it seems as if Victoria is the only one who has your best interests at heart. None of this changes how I feel about you or how deeply our connection goes. However, allow me to tell you who I am and where we can go from here."
Samuel paused as he ran his arms up and down her body, filling both of them with calm.
" I am a shape-shifter. I change into a wolf. My sole duty is to protect the people of Lapush and Forks from vampires. I am the chief of the Quileute tribe and the alpha of our pack of shape-shifting wolves. There are nine of us total and I oversee them all. I protect the people of Lapush and I am involved in my people's lives from sun up to sundown. I am present for every birth, death, and graduation. Our people are deeply connected and loyal. we hold big festivals every year. So I must ask you izzy what would you like to do? I am dedicated to my people and I cannot abandon them. But I will also not force anything on anyone. I desire to be with you. To make up for lost time, to bind my soul to yours even. if I only get two years out of it."
To his surprise, her eyes widened and filled with tears.
" you would let me go?" she questioned, " you wouldn't fight for me?"
" beautiful this is me fighting for you. I will not force you to do anything you don't want to do. I have had enough of that in my own life. Do I want you to become a Cold one? No, it shatters my heart to even think about it but…you have to make your own choices for your life, and if that means that we only have two years then so be it."
She was quick to get off his lap and was now pacing the floor.
" so that's it. after two years you will just let me walk away? let me throw away everything we've built?"
He stood, his wolf growling.
"what choice have you given me?! you want to die! Don't use me as your scapegoat izzy. But you know what I truly think? I think you want to live your own life and make your own choices, however, you are scared of what that means. You are scared of the cost, of the sacrifice."
"I don't have a choice, Sam."
"butterfly there is always a choice."
"what do you want me to do!" she shouted at him
"Live baby, just live." He told her softly.
"can't we just live for the moment? Why do we have to think about the future?"
"Because you are my future Izzy." He sighed "..I ..need some air. I'll be back in ten minutes."
…..
Isabella wiped her eyes but she couldn't stop crying.
She had no idea what she wanted with her life. She knew for sure, she wanted to be with Sam, but everything else, she just didn't know.
But Sam was right, she was scared. Scared of what taking control of her life, truly meant for her.
The truth that she wasn't ready to admit and yet she had to.
She didn't want to die.
She didn't want to rule the vampire world.
She wanted to live life.
But how? It wasn't like she could just walk away from the vampire world. There would be dire consequences.
Isabella covered her face with her hands. taking deep breaths.
Warm hands found her own, and when she looked up it was Sam.
His eyes glowed bright yellow.
"Marry me?" he asked.
Isabella didn't hesitate to say yes.
…
Elder Quil had lived a long time on the reservation. He was seen as the tribe's medicine man and wise Council.
He had been with five generations of chiefs and the current one was standing on his front porch.
"Alpha? What can I do for you today?" he asked. Elder Quil hadn't been happy when just at the age of seven, the former chief forced Samuel to phase. It had drastic consequences for the boy. He became hardened and cold-hearted at a young age.
He ruled the tribe and his pack with a no-nonsense attitude just like his father. and yet even through the cold heart, elder Quil could see pieces and parts of a good man, even if he was broken.
"I need you to marry us," he demanded,
"Marry? And who the heck is us?" he asked in surprise.
It was then Chief Uley stepped aside to reveal a white girl with long brown hair, and no arm.
Elder Quil looked at Chief Uley as if he had a second head.
"Chief? What? do you have any idea what your father would do to you if he found out you were marrying a girl without his permission and a white girl at that? You know he's been wanting to set you up with that Clearwater girl! Or that girl from the Makah tribe! Chief, you can't do this!"
"This woman is my chosen mate, we are connected. My wolf approves. if you don't believe me check our bond." The chief told him.
Elder Quil sighed and rubbed his temples.
"fine come in."
He guided the young couple to sit in a circle he had made with herbs.
With a sigh, he motioned them to be quiet as he lit some candles. He then sat in front of them and connected to his chief's wolf.
…..
Looking around, Elder Quil found himself inside the spirit realm of Samuel's wolf.
However, it was different from the first time he had been here. The first time he was here, the land had been a windy desert, void of any life.
That was how Samuels's wolf felt devoid of any life.
But now, it was practically an oasis. There were palm trees and colorful flowers everywhere.
As he kept walking, Elder Quil stumbled upon a beautiful waterfall. Resting near it was Samuel's wolf.
"spirit wolf." He called.
The black wolf lifted his head and stared.
"Elder Ateara. What brings you here?" the spirit wolf answered.
His response was vastly different from the last time they met. Last time, the spirit wolf almost killed him.
" Samuel has informed me that you both chose a mate? This cannot be true, she's not native." Elder Quil argued.
"Love does not see race, Elder. And yes, she is our chosen mate. She sees the best in us and we cannot be more grateful for her. so, do us a favor and allow us to become legally and spiritually bound to our mate."
Elder Quil shook his head and said
"This can't be. How can this be!"
The spirit wolf snorted and said "Does it matter? she's the one we want. end of discussion and if you don't marry us, I will tear your head off for sure this time."
….
Elder Quil groaned when he came out of the vision.
"Alright, I'll marry you. but you're going to need another witness."
" I'll go give them a call. I'll be right back."
Elder Quil watched the interaction between the girl and Samuel. He stroked her face gently before he walked out the door.
He looked at her with an appraising eye.
" What is your name child?"
"Isabella." She said softly and yet there was an air of confidence about her.
Elder Quil's interest was peaked at the sound of her name. Matter of fact, now that he looked closely at her, she seemed vaguely familiar.
"what's your full name, I'll have to put it on the marriage certificate and the license."
"Isabella marie swan."
Elder Quil covered his mouth with his hand and stepped back.
" Great taka aki! Bella is that…It can't be you is it sweetheart?"
She looked at him in confusion before recognition crossed her face.
"old Quil.."
"Bella!" he said as he pulled her into a hug. " great spirits child where have you been child."
She chuckled and said, "It's a long story."
Elder Quil shook his head, as he reached for the phone and handed her a picture.
It was himself, his son, Billy black, Joshua Uley, and Harry Clearwater, and in the middle was Charlie Swan.
"Hello?" a voice answered when he dialed the number.
"Billy you got to come over to my house now. And Sarah."
When he turned around Samuel was looking at him in confusion.
"Leah Clearwater, will be our witness, why are you calling Elder black?" Samuel questioned.
"Chief Uley, Do you have any idea who you have chosen as your mate? Do you know how deeply connected this young lady is to our people?"
"no, I don't but you can enlighten me," Samuel told him as he pulled Bella closer, rubbing soothing circles on her arms.
" she is Charlie Swan's daughter. Do you remember him?"
"yes, I remember char-"
Samuel stopped as recognition filled his features. He then turned to look at Bella.
"I see it now."
A knock on the door alerted them to their arrival.
"the doors open! Have a seat in the living room!" Elder Quil shouted.
"it's obvious you two were meant to be. Come, Bella, let us meet the others."
