Once again the two friends return from a mission, and once again it was from yet another merged universe, if Hiro was complaining about anything it was two basic things, first that these sorts of missions are the only thing they do, they can become a bit repetitive, thus boring. Go there and fix it, heroes, no they were more like freaking mechanics sent to fix something that went wrong on a ship.
The second thing he complained about was that every time they returned for quite some time, the Goddess would welcome them with a warm meal and a smile on her face, even if he knew that it was really intended for someone else, Hector, that lucky bastard. He still considered him a friend, but to get their Goddess to flat out marry him and to make matters worse have children with him, was blatantly unfair.
The only thing Hector knew that the amount of food, and the amount of time they would be allowed to rest said only one thing, the next merged universe mission was going to be one he actually hates, she always does that, putting extra effort when the next mission is going to suck, almost trying to lessen how much the next mission blows.
The other servants by comparison had much easier missions, and they often mocked and made fun of the two friends by calling them the Merge Universe Specialists, but none of them could say that their goddess waited for their return with a home-cooked meal and a smile on her face.
That was something that always bothered the others, the goddess was unreachable, and yet, she somehow had children, and those daughters were extremely happy for some odd reason to see one of the two friends, even some were happy to see the other friend for different reasons.
That is when one of them had the revelation, the very idea that one of these two so-called Merge Universe Specialists was the father of all these children, and some of those children had a rather unhealthy crush on the other friend. The other servants seemed to try to remain as civil as they could, those that couldn't decided to leave and joined to serve Lilith.
The two friends were doing everything they normally did between missions, getting ready for another merged universe mission, they always come, might as well be ready for them. Hector was learning new skills and Hiro was abusing his skills to master and improve his own skills. This meant that when they heard the call for them both to come to the office, they had both been training very hard, so it was a chance to rest and cool down when they got up and went to meet their goddess.
The Goddess was as always sitting behind her desks, with many papers going through them, and she was not happy about what she saw, she knew that her husband and his friend knew one of the universes that merged very well, the other they knew from previous missions. A world of never-ending conflict, greed, and corruption, merged with one with gods whose flaws were so bad the very idea to call them divine was questionable at best, ironic at worst.
"I know my husband is going to fucking hate this next mission, how did these two universes get merged? It is like mixing shit with swamp water, no matter the mixture it will not come out smelling of roses. And here I thought that after that last mission, we could spend some time with our daughters, they are all growing up so damn fast. Then again it might be good since I can put some distance between Hiro and my two crazy daughters, honestly, they are not even hiding their crush anymore, cheering as Hiro defeated enemies in one of his mission, could they be more obvious?"
As she said this the two friends finally came through the massive doors into her office, Hector like always sat down on his usual chair, and Hiro looked around until he found something hidden underneath one of the cabinets without even asking what it was, he opened it and took a big gulp of it. Hector was ready to tell his friend off about stealing until Hiro showed him the bottle it had his name on it written with the image of a heart around his name. "So you finally got that medicine that will cure you of your heart rate problem, good, you could have told me it was delivered to the office of our goddess you know."
Hiro mocked him telling him that if he did, he would miss the scene of him flipping out because Hector will think he is stealing something from their boss. It was so freaking hilarious that a pirate is actually getting angry over the very idea that someone stole something. This made her laugh as if these two already could tell who they were going to be in their next mission, the ever-stoic Zoro, and the happy and jolly pirate king Luffy.
"Alright both of you, calm down, I have some bad news for both of you, husband, yes you are correct I am sending you to another universe that was merged and you will probably hate, but not without some gifts, and a favor you must do for me, as for Hector yes you already have everything you need since you were mastering those skills in the gym, no you can't keep that hidden from me even if you tried."
She stood up and walked towards what seemed to be a chest and in it, she pulled out two swords, exactly the same as each other, "Somehow a copy of the One Piece Universe was merged with a copy of the Percy Jackson Universe, I know you will hate it because you think this place will be practically chaos incarnate, but sadly you don't know how right you are." She placed the two swords on the hands of Hector, and went back to her chair, as she sat down she looked at them with a serious look.
In that universe, twenty-seven people were born that weren't originally born in that world, to make things even worse Monkey D. Dragon, decided in a fit of recklessness to take back his daughter when a tragedy occurred, meaning there is no Straw Hat, so no Straw Hat Pirates, this is the pirate crew that would be saving the world and by not existing, the doom of the people of that universe is guaranteed."
Hector was not happy to hear what would happen but he asked what the hell does this have to do with Percy Jackson, she almost forgot to tell them about that in her grief over the potential loss of so many innocent lives. "Percy and many of the demigods of Camp Half-Blood eventually achieved recognition for their bravery and upon their deaths ascended to become full deities. Zeus did not want to share so instead he offered them to be sent to a new universe, which just happens to be the One Piece Universe, that was quite a shock for the world government, these new deities did not think twice before teaching the hidden leader of that government their place and even doing the same thing to celestial dragons, they are currently the rulers and gods of what used to be the central government.
Those corrupt and abusive people that were once called the Celestial Dragons didn't like the fact that they lost quite a bit of their power, prestige, influence, and wealth, so they formed a revolutionary army of their own, calling it the Celestial Dragon Army to mock Monkey D. Dragon, and their goal is to kill the new world government and restore themselves to power and she said and again these copycat army would have been stopped by the Straw Hat Pirates, but again in this universe due to the actions of Monkey D. Dragon they don't exist.
Hector only had one question, why? why would Monkey D. Dragon take his daughter considering he never took his son in Canon? The goddess looked at her husband and simply asked him what would he be willing to do to save the lives of two of their daughters? Upon hearing this question, the reason became clear, but by doing so he left those corrupt men who called themselves Celestial Dragons to doom that world by not having the straw hat pirates exist.
"And that is the reason I need you two to go, you Hiro will go and be Luffy, and you husband will be Zoro once again. I am not as cruel as to send you to be reborn and have you go through everything that happens when you are a baby, but you should know that most people who have powers or are destined to have them do have siblings, twins or that's what it looks like what happened and so my dearest husband, you will have a sister, and when you know that she can match you in skills, your task is to give her the copy of your own sword. As for you Hiro you will not simply sit there on that island with your thumb up your ass, and do nothing, you will prevent a tragedy and save the lives of people who can be of help to your future pirate crew."
Hector knew that this was a setup, but he had to trust his wife, he only had one question is there anything else she wants him to do? Well since he asked she told her husband that if he can save his friend who dies from that accident and help people to save the dojo of the family he will be reborn in, that would be great. Hector knew who she was talking about, the friend of Zoro who died tragically when she broke her neck when she fell down the stairs. "Sure thing, just tell me anything you want me to do over there, you can always talk to me thanks to our link, so feel free to tell me what you want to do, after all what good husband would refuse to do errands for his loving wife?"
She immediately said to him not to be stingy with his sister and friend, she knows that he always wants to keep some money safe for emergencies, but that shouldn't mean that his sister and friend should not receive presents during their birthday celebration, Hector told her that he would give them as many presents as he got himself for his birthday, which Hiro told her that means they are getting nothing.
"You can complain all you like, but I call that being fair. To me celebrating the day you are born is like celebrating that you are one step closer to your grave, I don't see much to be that happy about." Upon Hiro hearing that he said some people can only see a glass as half full, and others will only see it as half empty, it was pretty obvious which of the two was the way Hector looked at life.
The goddess told Hiro that while her husband does complain quite a few times about any so-called errands, that doesn't mean that he will not do them, he will, but his complaints are just an expression of his dislike of what he is being asked to do.
As they finished discussing the many things they would have to take care of, and the many ways they needed to help, the day was finally over and without wasting any time both friends were sent into that universe, Hector woke up as Zoro when he was nine years old, and Hiro woke up as Luffy when he was seven years old.
Luffy was amazed at what he was looking at, the island was exactly how he could remember, except that he also had all the knowledge he had before waking up as this person, he immediately began to use that knowledge to help the people in the island, Shanks was often a very kind person to Luffy, but the fact is that thanks to him knowing his own abilities, and mastered many of them, he managed to do something that would have been impossible otherwise.
As he helped people make a better life for themselves, he managed to get that mountain bandit to actually think of his life and try to become a better person. He learned to do other things, better things, and slowly he began to learn to be able to do things like fix places, or solve small problems, when this man asked Luffy why he was teaching him these things he merely laughed and told him it wasn't anything that strange he was training one of his future crew, that is when this man remembered that this boy often said he would one day become King of the Pirates, what better crew could there be to join?
The next morning he was helping in the kitchen of the local eatery, he was washing cups and Makino was making breakfast for all her regular customers, his sister Lunna was still drinking her juice not even realizing that Makino was not the one that made it, but she was enjoying her juice all the same. As Shanks finally walked through the doors he saw a girl he only could remember about, she walked up to Lunna and asked her what she was drinking saying it was orange juice which made Shanks laugh as he told her there is no orange trees anywhere on the island.
Hearing this comment Luffy knew it was the perfect time to introduce himself, as he was drying his hands on a small towel he picked up from near the sink, "Actually that is a mixture between sweet potato and carrot juice, funny so many people think it is orange juice. As for where they came from? I grew them in a small vegetable garden I have where I live, there is more than enough shit in this world, so I decided to use some of it for something more productive. I see you came with my good friend Shanks, I am Monkey D. Luffy, and you already know my sister Lunna. She got dumped in this place by our father, and I was dumped in this place by our grandfather, honestly had it not been for the kind heart of Makino, I don't think I or her would ever survive by ourselves, but enough about that who are you?"
She took the glass of juice that Luffy had brought for her and after taking a small sip, she smiled, "I am Uta Shanks, the Captain of the Red Hair Pirates is my dad, I didn't however come alone, a friend of mine been traveling with us, do you happen to know a man by the name of Mihawk?"
Luffy couldn't help but laugh at the question and told her that of course, he knows of the most dangerous man in the world, the man who can cut a ship in half with a single strike of his sword, cutting it like a hot knife through butter. Uta told him that his daughter is actually traveling with her and her father's crew. Luffy hearing this was about to turn around and go back to clean his glasses when he suddenly turned around and smiled at both Uta and Lunna who were looking at him, thinking he was scared.
"As much as I love to simply sit down and continue our little chat, I really have to get finished with those glasses before all those customers come, or else Makino is going to be angry, and I don't want to do that cause I will miss out on breakfast. So excuse me, maybe we can continue this later, Shanks you and I will have that talk later too." The red-haired captain looked at Luffy as he nodded his head and knew that there was something even Luffy could tell he wanted to talk to him about.
As Luffy finished washing all the glasses and dishes, Makino thanked him again for helping, only for him to tell her crewmates help each other, she laughed and told him that the Captain can't do his job well if he gets distracted by his growling stomach. So since he already finished washing up those hands and getting ready to eat breakfast and better do it fast or her food will get cold.
As Luffy began to eat his breakfast he knew someone wanted to have that chat, and was not going to take no for an answer, so he merely put half of his juice in another empty glass that was right next to the next seat at the table, and much as he expected Shanks sat down and drank the juice in a single gulp, Luffy could only guess he must be in real trouble or he was just that thirsty not to bother to even look what the hell he was drinking. It was nothing toxic by any means, it was grapefruit juice, something Luffy had with his breakfast to help his digestion.
"First thanks a lot for being so nice to my baby girl and her friend, but you know as well as I do, I never got married, so you must know she is adopted, still you never stopped treating her like she was a member of my family, that speaks very highly of you, so I came to ask you for a favor, and you will not do it as charity either, I got something very valuable to offer you, and the task is simple, so do you want to hear it or do I need to ask someone else?"
Luffy was still eating his breakfast now with water as he looked at Shanks and told him to stop wasting time and spit it out already, there is no time for all this suspense, Shanks laughed as he told him no kid his age talks like that, to which Luffy told him not many kids had gone through so much growing up, "My daughter has this crazy idea that she wants to be a Diva of all things, want to use music to influence the world, and what is crazy is that I truly believe she means it, she wants to use music to influence people and create sustainable world peace. I am going to take her to a place for her to achieve her dream, another island very far away from here, but she only had Mihawk's daughter, Desiree, as her only friend, so I am hoping you and your sister will come along to keep her company and keep her safe."
That is when Luffy finished eating his breakfast and looked at him, and simply asked him what would be the reward, cause he wasn't going to babysit for free, Shanks laughed and told him the prize was going to be something amazing, a devil fruit, one he got when he attacked another pirate ship, and this fruit was the Gum Gum No Mi. "If you manage to keep my little girl safe, and help her get to start the journey to find and accomplish her dream, that devil fruit is yours, no other strings attached. I say that is more than enough for a little babysitting, or don't you think so? Captain Luffy."
Luffy told him that if he throws in a favor that he can collect on for later and manages to get Lunna to agree and he got himself a deal. Shanks laughed as he told Luffy he already talked with his sister and she actually agreed to do that the previous day, he asked her the day when it was her turn to wash the dishes and glasses.
"If you managed to convince her, I see no problem, I will go with your ship, and help your daughter start her dream, as for the devil fruit, let Lunna eat it, I already can do everything she will be able to do and more, in fact, if she eats the gum gum fruit I will be able to help my sister learn to use those powers, so stop thinking of me as helpless, because I am anything but helpless." Shanks wanted him to demonstrate that and that is when he stretched his arm long enough to grab the pitcher of juice on the bar take it back to the table they were seated and filled both glasses up before putting the pitcher of juice back, it was a lemon flavored one that was not very much liked by people for some reason.
He drank some of it and found it was lemonade, but without any sugar, it still was quite refreshing, "As I said, don't worry your daughter and the daughter of Mihawk will be safe on this journey, that I can guarantee, who am I kidding there is no freaking way I can fail in this, cause who wants to piss you and Mihawk off?"
Shanks had to admit that was both a very logical response and also a very surprising if not irritating thing to hear, made him think that others think of him as a monster equal to Mihawk, if he knew what Luffy knew, he would know that one day Shanks would be one of the Warlords of the sea that work under the Elder Stars. The six people that were closest to hear the will and commands of their gods.
The ship was much larger than what he expected till Luffy asked him what exactly was their ship's class? Luffy nearly lost it when the ship cook told him the ship's class was a caravel. From his memories, he knew his own ship was also a caravel class but it wasn't like anything like the ship he was traveling on, it was larger, had more decks, the storage for everything had space for everything from food, medicines, lumber, and even a dry place for powder for the canons. His ship had at most two, one kept as a hidden reserve in case the main canon either failed to fire or was damaged, but Shank's ship had fourteen of them.
If his ship was as fortified and heavily armed as Shank's was, he knew the Going Merry would have been the only ship they would ever need, that single ship could have taken them through their adventures in the new world, but instead, his first ship was so damaged that they had to watch it go down to a watery grave, for some strange reason no matter where or how he remembers he was brought to tears at the memory of the day that his first ship went down in flames to rest at the bottom of the sea.
He knew that deep down he had to do something to prevent that from ever happening again, both Uta and Desiree asked him why was he so sad? Luffy only told him that seeing the sea reminds him sometimes of a good friend he once had to bury at sea. Uta tried to comfort him and Desiree told him that he would make even more friends in the future, but yes, he can never forget those friends that have gone on ahead.
As the finally reached the island of music, he knew something that will happen, something that could cause the destruction of the entire island, the release of the Demon King Of Song, if things progress as usual the main problem was that Uta will somehow eat the devil fruit, Uta Uta No Mi, this devil fruit was by itself dangerous, but what made it even worse, is that singing one song while using the power of that devil fruit, releases the demon king who causes the death of almost every person on the island, and what is worse to save his daughter Shanks takes the blame for it, causing her even more emotional trauma.
There weren't many things he could do to prevent her from eating the devil fruit, it was almost like she was fated to do so, even if he tried someone or something would cause her to eat it anyways, so the only thing he could do is have Lunna eat the supposed Gum Gum No Mi, and as soon as she did, her brother began to train his sister, but this caught the attention of Uta and Desiree who found this fascinating while they traveled to Elegia.
On the trip Luffy gave many lectures on properly training, using, and controlling themselves while using the power of the Devil Fruit, he made sure to explain that devil fruits were not only dangerous to others but also to users who can't maintain control, emotions have a major influence on the user's control, and maintaining balance and a calm mind was essential, only when a user achieves a perfect balance between themselves and the devil fruit that the true power of that devil fruit will be revealed to the user.
Physical and Spiritual Growth was important but always in balance. When asked how much control could he even have over his powers, Luffy asked Lunna using her devil fruit how many fish could she catch? Lunna told him that naturally only two, she only had two arms, which Luffy called amateurish, as he told the cook to prepare to cook a lot of fish, and as he stood at the edge of the deck, he pulled back his arms and as his arms stretched behind him towards the other edge of the deck, they began to divide, to four, then eight, and finally sixteen of them all as massive as his original arms, and he launched them into the ocean catching and throwing fish to a place near the kitchen, more and more fish till the cook told Luffy that was their storage limit capacity, and Luffy stopped.
He looked at Lunna, Uta, and even Desiree who all looked stunned to see what he just did, "Like I said control is key, train as hard as I do, and you two may reach my level of mastery, and that was without using Haki, so when I speak like I know what I am saying, now you know that I do. The devil fruit changes the user's body, but you can't oppress your devil fruit, a balance must be achieved, or else pain and misery are the only outcome, take these words to heart."
Elegia was aptly named the Island of Music, many people enjoy singing, composing, and recording music, people that loved music or made music were everywhere, it was a topic that was as common to them as the weather or talking about the very way air practically caused clouds to practically dance across the sky.
Luffy's lessons did not go on deaf ears and Uta paid attention to his words, she got the gist of it, a person should not let themselves be taken over by the devil fruit, but could not oppress the devi fruit completely, maintaining control of themselves, while acceptance of their devil fruit was very important, to achieve a balance between the user and the devil fruit.
The Demon King of Songs, probably thought that he was manipulating everything the way he wanted, that he will get some poor innocent soul to eat the Uta Uta No Mi, sing his song, and once free he could exact his revenge on the island and on the world, too bad the time spent with Luffy cause her to develop certain feelings and came to value the advice of her friend, even going as far as blushing whenever she thought of what he told her.
All these feelings culminated in the Demon King's utter failure when she ate the Uta Uta No Mi, she actually took the sheet music but somehow changed it so much that it failed to release him, instead, what would have been a violent song that screamed for revolution and conflict it became a love ballad, and this had horrible consequences on the Demon King, the music instead of invading and controlling people, it invaded him in horrible ways causing immeasurable pain and suffering, as instead of gaining the singer as his servant, he became the servant of her, and due to her feelings and strength, the Demon King of Songs was forcefully and painfully transformed into the Angel of Songs, and she couldn't be happier about it in the end.
By the end of the concert and by the time Luffy and Lunna had to get aboard the ship, Uta was only sad that she would miss her friend and secret crush, and as Luffy boarded the ship Uta ran up to him and almost out of impulse launched herself at him and kissed him on his lips, and as the kiss ended he wished her good luck with her training under King Gordon. She laughed and told him he survived his training, how bad could Gordon be?
