Hair Braiding

A/N Since this is a new category for me, I'm gonna assume you're not familiar with my other stuff. This is what I call a 'little moments' type story. Each chapter is a short fun little fluffy domestic scene about everyday life.

Somewhere in Greece, The Known World - S2

"Sit down," Gabrielle said, her hands reaching out for the ends of Xena's long hair as she sat back on the blanket. "I just wanna play with it," she continued, stroking through the ends with her fingers. Xena's hair was dark and sleek, so smooth it glided through Gabrielle's hands with ease. She'd seen it like a bird's nest, all sticking out at the edges. She'd even seen twigs lodge themselves in it, but not today. No today, Xena's hair was a masterpiece of her own creation.

Xena was sitting with her legs twisted in front of her. She felt like a child, playing dress up. "Are you nearly finished?" She snapped, trying to turn her head but Gabrielle had such a tight grip on her that it was impossible.

The blonde slapped her hand away, "hey! I am just trying to make it look pretty."

"I don't want to look pretty, I'm a warrior." Xena huffed, pulling out of Gabrielle's grasp. She turned around sharply, a deadly look in her eye. Gabrielle's shoulders sank, a pout worming its way onto her face.

"Okay, fine." She said, walking off into the woods to collect more firewood. Xena folded her arms over her leather. Her hand raked backwards over her hair, it was braided down the back of her head. It probably did look nice, really nice, if Gabrielle had done it. Now she felt bad for pushing her away. She was just trying to do a nice thing and she had to go and ruin it by being insensitive.

She picked herself up off the ground and stalked after her friend. "Gabrielle? I'm sorry." The warrior princess didn't apologise very often. But for Gabrielle she often made an exception. She ran into the woods only to find her little friend standing right in front of her.

Gabrielle put her hands on her hips and smirked up at Xena. "Do you really think I'm offended that easily?"

"Well no- I-" Xena stumbled, hating that the blonde made her so tongue-tied.

"I just like to see you get all nervous." She said, smiling with the corner of her mouth, a cheeky grin contorting her features until Xena caved.

"You- oh- you are-" she was getting redder in the face and her feet were grinding the dirt. Gabrielle ran in the opposite direction, taking off through the woods and past their campsite. Xena was chasing her, faster and faster. She was giggling because of how ridiculous this all was, but secretly she was enjoying being chased. It felt like a game. Obviously at some point Xena was going to catch her and they were probably going to roll around on the ground until they both realised how ridiculous this was and help each other up. Then there would be dinner...
