Poseidon and Neptune were as different as two can be. Neptune was ruthless and merciless in his storms, and in his anger could destroy cities. It was no wonder Rome feared the seas.
Poseidon, however, was calmer than his counterpart. His nephews (Apollo and Hermes) would even describe him as 'laid back'. This, perhaps, was because Greece was more involved with the sea surrounding them, therefore actually depended on him and worshipped him. He gave them horses and allowed them to eat the seafood. He was heartbroken to hear one day that they thought of him as a very angry individual.
If there was any similarity between the two, it would be that they were both very ill- tempered and violent when patience ran thin, and that they loved Sally Jackson. Don't get it wrong, they both loved their respected wives. But the only times that they both felt perfectly together was when he was around Sally. He mended into one person. He loved a lot about Ms. Jackson, but if there was one thing he loved the most about her was that she saw the good in him when he admitted that he caused a lot of death.
Another he loved about her was that she stubborn and independent on her and herself only. When he offered to build her a palace and make her an actual goddess, she refused, saying "I want to make my own way in life. Write a book, have a kid, do normal, as you say, 'mortal things".
When he told her that he was actually a Greek deity, she wasn't surprised. He did, however, withhold the piece of information that at that moment he was both Greek and Roman. He didn't need to, in his opinion.
He didn't think they would get to the point of having a child, but when one day she announced that she was pregnant, he warned her of the dangers the child could and would bring. Of the smell and of the monsters. And, of course, of the camp in Long Island. He told her that since he was one of the Big Three, the child's smell would be stronger than normal demi-gods, therefore she could end up with him dead, or in Camp Half-blood for the rest of his days.
He was thinking that he was Poseidon at the moment when the child was made. What he didn't think of was that he would be both of Rome and of Greece. That is why he recommended the said Greek camp. He told her he would have to leave his child because of quote "the stupid ancient laws" and quote "the dumb oath my thunder brother made me do because of his flicking paranoia".
And so, he left in fear of someone finding him with a mortal woman. He tried to at least give her a form of currency, but she was stubborn and said that if he gave everything to her then she would become lazy and wouldn't get anywhere in life.
That was why when many years later he found out about how Beryl Grace demanded Zeus and Jupiter to make her a goddess, he laughed to himself thinking of how different it went with Sally.
The crickets chirped steadily as the moonlight washed the forest floor. If you continue looking in that forest, you will find a beautiful camp, silver in the light of the stars and moon. Twelve Cabins in an Omega formation, with other various cabins around the Twelve, each one standing for the Olympian Gods and Goddesses.
There was not a soul seen, unless, of course, you were a child of the underworld god, or you were asleep in the Hypnos Cabin. If you looked around enough, everyone would be found at the dinner pavilion, around the campfire. The immortal Heroes of the Seven Prophecy were gathered along with the rest of the camp. Some of the visiting Camp Jupiter people were also there to hear the story of The Ghost. Even Chiron stood in the background of the crowds of children.
"All of you here either heard the story of The Ghost or were rescued by him" the immortal ambassador of Hades, or Pluto, began "To this day nobody fully knows the identity of it. Some speculate that it was sent by my father, Hades. Others say it is just an escaped spirit from the Second Giant War from when the doors of death were open. But some-" his dark obsidian eyes starting sparking with a dangerous, mischievous glint as he whispered the name "-some who actually believe in the impossible, like an old friend of mine, believe it is the long-lost hero Perseus Jackson"
The campers that were not there 10 years ago were on the edge of their seats for many of them heard the name but had no idea what he had done to be erased from history. Chiron, as soon as he had heard the name, sighed, and slowly and carefully went away. He did not want to be the subject of punishment from the Olympians. The said Olympians, particularly Zeus, had banished the hero, erased his name from history, and prohibited from his name or story from being spoken.
In the crowds of campers, there was a little group of old friends huddled up, the 30-year-old immortal counselors, Directors, and Praetors. In the said group, there was a beautiful blonde who had the decency to look ashamed as the story was started.
There were also several couples such as Jason and Piper, the gods that will replace Mr. D as soon as his sentence and everyone else's torture was over. There was Frank as Praetor, and Hazel who soon joined him in Praetorship. Leo and Calypso, the 'unofficial' leaders of Camp Half-blood, because most of the time, Leo was showing Calypso around or just starting a new temporary shop (because a mechanic shop that had never aging owners would be suspicious). As for Reyna, she joined the hunters in eternal maidenhood.
One young camper would occasionally ask someone why Annebeth, the beautiful blonde that boys mistake for Aphrodite, was a single. If they asked a cabin counselor, they wouldn't know. But if they asked one of the immortal made counselors, they would either tell you that some things are meant to stay in the past or tell them that Nico is holding an illegal story telling night.
This night was such a night. Every 5 years or so, Nico would hold one to keep the legacy of the former son of Poseidon alive, his best friend and brother in all but blood.
After Nico Di Angelo had said the forbidden name, there was a sudden hush. Even the crickets stopped chirping. Only the soft cracks of the fire could be heard as Hestia was tending to it, as an eight-year-old girl.
A curious child of Athena broke the silence as she asked the question many of her siblings had.
"What did He do so terrible to be completely erased from history? The only evidence that he was actually a person is from The Bush."
The Bush wasn't actually a bush. Perhaps whoever named the Big House, and the Bush had some serious trouble with names. Nonetheless, it was a boulder in a hidden corner of the forest with names of all campers that ever came, even Heracles and other olden heroes were there. There was no way to ever take a name off. They knew because so many gods were trying or forced to try to take off the name of the banished hero, but they were never able to.
"And besides" another spoke up "I thought this was about The Ghost"
"I was going to start with The Ghost. Now, shush, before I decide that my punishment is not worth this"
That shut everyone up pretty quick.
"Soooooo...right. The Ghost. Nobody can control it, not even I, The Ghost King. People had said that it patrols the borders, but there has been no evidence at all. The gods at one point tried to catch it, but to no avail. Even my dad couldn't. And he disappears as soon as he's done rescuing a fellow Greek or Roman demigod. In truth, he never stepped into the borders in either of the camps. But what we do know is that he's The Guide, he's the Guardian, and he's The Protector." he stops, probably savoring the temporary peacefulness before he starts the forbidden story.
"But you didn't answer why he was banished in the first place." the same curious Athenian child asked
Suddenly shadows around Nico started to move towards him as his eyes somehow became darker than before "That's because the gods" his voiced dripped of venom as he said the word like it was bile in his mouth "sometimes become too overly paranoid to even think straight when they decide to banish one of their best. They claimed he was on the villains' side all along" he laughed bitterly "But those divine idiots forgot that his fatal flaw is personal loyalty. He would never put those he loved in peril!" his tone suddenly took more of a sorrowful tone "he was like a big brother to me. He accepted me as others shunned me for who my father was. He guided me, tried to help my sister, but even though she died from her own will, I still wished him dead when I was 10. After all those mean things I had said to him, he still rescued me when I got kidnapped. He-" he abruptly stopped when he looked up into the sky.
Anyone who knew about Camp Half-blood knows that it should not have storm clouds inside the borders. Nico took that as a sign to leave.
"Looks like Zeusy here found out about my little story telling. Ciao my friends before I become like my beloved Happy Meals" then he hurriedly disappeared into the shadows
The rest of the immortals decided that it was time for the children to go to bed. Jason clapped his hands very loudly so he could be heard over his father's tantrum.
"OK!" he yelled "Before you all get wet, go to your cabins and to bed! Now! Chop-chop!"
Only when it started sprinkling did the campers take it seriously. They ran like the wind was after them, which in a way, was true.
After every camper left to their respected cabin, Frank and Hazel went to the Big House.
Hazel sighed "I wish I knew where he was. I wish Annebeth didn't break his heart. I wish that he's alright at least" she said softly
"Me too, Haze, me too" Frank said as he sighed identically to Hazel into the rain remembering the Per-He loved the rain. He almost cracked a smile as he remembered how He used to dance in the rain just to make Annebeth smile. Frank was about to turn around to tell Perc-Him that it was raining just to remember that he's been banished for more than a decade.
He sighed again. He was glad that he was not the one who had betrayed him. In fact, the remaining Seven along with Nico, Reyna, and Thalia demanded that he should not be killed. Miraculously, He was somehow able to escape, or at least that's what the rumors had said.
Zeus assured everyone that he was, in fact, dead. Weel, that everyone was mostly himself and couple others, but he guessed whatever floats his boat er... air balloon
But if you were to listen to the rumors of the minor gods, you were to hear that after Poseidon was forced to disown his son, he refused to watch his only mortal son die. The seas raged for days.
The rumor was that even though He had been chained into the strongest chains made by the god of forges himself, he just disappeared right before to lightning bolt hit Him. Another rumor was that He had died, but his soul never appeared. There were many rumors, but all of them ended on a similar note-he either didn't die or his soul was still around. But rumors were just rumors, right?
Right?
