Shantae ran through her town, dealing with Tinkerbats and making sure everyone was safe. She didn't know that Dante was helping as well. Using his skills as a thief to grab children and his claw to catch people who jumped from the burning buildings. The two unknowingly worked together to ensure everyone was safe. Shantae soon saw Mayor Scuttlebutt, but she didn't have time to listen to his worries.
"Mayor, I already know that Risky is attacking, and I already saved some of the people. So please, make sure everyone else is away from the docks!" She said.
"But..." He started.
"Mayor! This isn't the time! And if you fire me again, then you can forget about rehiring me after I stop whatever Risky is planning! I became a genie guarding to follow my mother, not to be treated like I not doing my job!" Shantae said, running past him.
Mayor Scuttlebutt just watched her as Dante landed on a tree. There was another reason his mother sent him here, but there was something about that genie girl he couldn't shake. He shoots off his claw and swings to catch up with Shantae.
Docks
Shantae reached the docks and looked around. She then crossed her arms and tapped her foot.
"Any time, Risky. I know you love making an entrance." She said before Risky's ship pulled in.
"Well, you ruined the mood." She said, a bit upset.
"Look, Risky, do everyone a favor and just give up. We've been through this dance a lot of times. I'm getting tired of it." Shantae said, sighing.
"For once, I agree with you," Risky said, also sighing.
Shantae looked confused. She agrees with her?
"Huh?" She asked.
"To be honest with you, genie brat, I'm quite tired of this dance as well. So, I decided this would be the last time we meet! My new Tinkerslug will end this battle quickly! Oh, William!" Risky said, smirking.
Shantae watched as a huge Tinkerslug appeared out of Risky's ship, looking monstrous. It had fangs and looked to be drooling at the sight of her.
"Poor Willaim is very hungry. So, I decide to feed him a Half-Genie Brat for his meal! And guess who's the main course!" Risky laughed.
Shantae gulps, feeling a bit scared. However, she quickly recovered ready to fight. However, she needed something to knock it down so she could attack it. But there was a problem, there was nothing she could use on this dock!
"Uh oh." She gulps.
"OHHOHOHO! I lead you here for a reason, you brat! No more tricks! No more getting help from the docks! And my men are not in charge of my weapons. You know what that means? YOU CAN'T BEAT MY NEW TINKERSLUG!" Risky laughs.
"This is bad," Shantae said, wondering what she should do.
"Willaim, Dinner time!" Risky order, making the giant Tinkerslug roar.
It launched at Shantae, forcing her to jump back. However, without a way to stun it, Shantae was stuck dodging the Tinkerslug's mouth. Her back hit the wall of a building and noticed that she was trapped. She looked very worried and scared when the giant Tinkerslug loomed over her, growling.
"OHHOHOHO!" Risky laughs.
"And our dance is finally at the end. I must admit, this dance we had was fun, and I'm going to miss it. But as of now, I won't. Willaim, supper is ready!" She said, making the Tinkerslug drive at Shantae.
Suddenly, Shantae felt something grab her back before yanking her up the building, moving her out of the Tinkerslug's mouth.
"WHAT?!" Risky shouted, surprised.
Shantae blinked before she found herself sitting on the roof. She quickly turned to see her rescuer and was surprised.
"Sorry, Risky, but Genies are not on the Tinkerslug's menu," Dante said.
"You again?!" Risky growls.
"Yep, and I know just how to cure that slug's hunger," Dante said, pulling out a few shacks.
"Here you go, little guy. Your favorite." He said, dropping them into the Tinkerslug's mouth.
Once it landed in its mouth, the Tinkerslug chewed before looking happy. Risky was shocked. How did that boy...
"That's the thing about Tunkerslugs. You really need to pay attention to their food." He said, smirking.
"And any good thief knows that having a backup plan is always handy. Something that makes us better than pirates." Dante smirks.
"WHAT DID YOU SAY!?" Risky shouted.
"I heard all about your plans. From stealing the idea of a stream engine from Mimic to trying to take control of the Genie world. I'm a thief, but I also work under the Sultana." He said, shocking both of them.
"YOU WHAT?!" Shantae and Risky shouted.
"Which means, I have the right to take you in," Dante said, pulling out his dagger.
Risky growls before noticing the dagger he was holding. She was shocked at first before smiling.
"Well, no matter. I know when to retreat. Next time, we will fight! MEN! Set sail!" Risky ordered.
Her ship quickly sailed away, surprising Dante as the Tinkerslug chased after her.
"No wonder no one catches her." He said, shaking his head.
Shantae finally stood up, still shocked by what she heard.
"You work for the Sultana?!" She asked.
"I know it seems strange, but yes. I do." Dante said before sighing.
"Come on, I need to speak to your mayor," He said, walking away.
"Who is this boy?" Shantae asked herself before following him.
Later,
Everyone met back up in Mimic's Workshop with Mimc checking over the crown. He soon saw Shantae and Dante walk in, making him sigh.
"Uncle Minic? Are you okay?" Shantae asked.
"I'm fine. I'm just surprised to see you here, Dante." He said.
"I'm surprised myself. I avoided this town for good reason. For some reason, my mother wanted me to come here. And I already deal with Mayor Scuttlebutt." Dante said.
"What do you mean?" Bolo asked.
"He's already on thin ice with the Sultana. From firing me a few times to selling Scuttle Town. The Sultana sent a letter to warn him about any more mistakes." Shantae said, having heard the letter read out loud by Dante.
"There is one thing I can't understand," Dante said, turning to Shantae.
"Why do you have the same face as me?" He asked her.
"How should I know? I'm just as creep out as you!" Shantae told him.
"It's because you two are closer than you think," Mimic said.
"What?" They said.
"Shantae, Dante. I think it's time you learn the truth about something. The reason you have the same faces is because you two are siblings." Mimic said, shaking them.
"SIBLINGS?!" They shouted.
"Yes. And know how you two can be even though Shantae is a half-genie thanks to her mother." Mimic said, turning away.
"You see, Shantae's mother wasn't just friends with Shantae's father. They had a third friend, the daughter of the Sultan. She would travel with them each time they showed up at the palace. Shantae's parents would help her sneak out during their adventures and the Sultan never knew. It also turns out that both Shantae's mother and the princess feel for the father at the same time. However, because they were very good friends, they agreed to let the other be happy. That was when you came to be, Shantae." Mimic said, surprising everyone.
"After she left, the princess tried to be there for her friend and it seems that they had Dante. So, to put it simply, Shantae and Dante have different mothers, but they have the same father. Making them half-siblings." Mimic said.
"Half..." Shantae started.
"...Siblings?!" Dante finished.
The two looked at each other, surprised.
"So, that means that Dante isn't a half genie?" Bolo asked.
"Did you listen to what he said?! Dante is fully human!" Sky shouted.
"Plus, no boy has ever been born of a genie mother and human father," Mimic added.
"Um, Uncle?" Shantae started.
"Are you sure that we are half-siblings?" Dante asked.
Mimic could tell they were having a hard time believing it. So, there was only one person that could help.
"We need to set a meeting with the Sultana." He said, surprising everyone.
"Are you sure?" Dante asked.
"Yes, I have a strong feeling she's excepting us," Mimic said.
Shantae and Dante looked at each other, confused. How could they be half-siblings if they never knew their mothers fell for their father? Or the fact their father could have cheated on each other mothers? Mimic made it sound like their mothers were good friends, but it left them both with so many unanswered questions. Hopefully, the Sultana could answer some of them.
'Uncle Mimic told me that my parents love each other. I never knew that they were friends with the princess.' Shantae thought.
'Mother told me about her adventures with two friends she made, but why didn't she tell me that they were with Shantae's family? Of the act that my father is Shantae's?' Dante thought.
Half-siblings or not, the two have a lot of questions and they were going to get them.
Okay, not where I wanted to end this chapter, but it's for a reason. You see, I got around this far on the day we lost power. Once it came back on, I was covering the meeting with the Sultana and having her explain her reasons, and inform Shantae that she never wanted to hurt her mother. Before getting to the main reason why's Shantae mother's necklace was found. It was getting close to lunchtime, I decided to save my work. Only it didn't save. It went up to what you see as of now. If anyone is familiar with that, you might understand how angry I was. It wasn't a small amount of work, like two sentences, no, it was a WHOLE lot of things that I wrote. So, the amount you see here is the amount I wrote from my last save BEFORE we lost power, which was last week or two weeks ago. So, the whole idea I had about the Sultana explaining her reasons and learning of the Great Evil will be for the next chapter.
