Okay so I know it's been a while, and I apologize. I just got inspiration not too long ago to push out another chapter but this chapter (and maybe one or two more after this) is going to be flashbacks of what actually went down with Rose and how she went from villain to hero. Hope you enjoy!

Chapter 30: Rose's Redemption Part One

Date: October 31st, 2307

Location: Rose's Prison

The concept of time had been lost to Rose ever since that creature dragged her, O'Callaghan and Lilly down deep into their split mind. And at first, she'd felt like she had a bad dream and had woken up to be surrounded by her friends and family. They'd said it was her birthday. Her memory had been foggy and it was almost like she'd forgotten who she really was, but she had a husband and children who adored her so Rose never put much stock into the feelings that something was wrong.

That changed later.

For years, her life had been normal. She raised her children with Arthur while being a dutiful and obedient housewife. They were happy. The farm they resided and worked on was large and always produced plenty of bounty.

It was around the twelfth year of Rose's imprisonment when she started to take notice of things that were...odd. Like the fact that her family was aging and yet she was seemingly staying the same age. And the nightmares of her being someone else always plagued her, but only on her birthdays. Those started becoming more frequent. And the strange people who would come and go to take their harvest. They always seemed so strange and Arthur never accepted payment for their bounty. The only time he ever spoke of it was to say, "we should be grateful that they want what we grow, so don't ask questions."

By Rose's 40th birthday, Arthur was an old man. And the children, who had become adults, looked far older than Rose did.

Arthur and Rose went and saw doctors about it but they could never give clear answers. Still, Rose was simply happy to have her children and her husband.

Until Arthur died.

Then her friends began passing away.

Then her children, and her children's children.

She'd outlived them all. But why?

And the dreams got worse. By Rose's hundredth birthday, she was having the nightmares every night.

Of a large, black beast swallowing her hole and slaying countless, innocent lives by gobbling them up.

And yet she always felt she was not a victim, but the beast itself.

As time went on, Rose felt herself change. She no longer visited family, no longer had friends, seeing as how watching all her loved ones die from old age, disease or accidents was too much to bear.

She felt cursed.

So she stayed away from people for a while...until she was introduced to drugs.

And then she became a stripper.

For a good portion of her imprisonment, Rose danced, fucked, drank, smoked, shot up and snorted her pain away.

It never stayed away for too long, though. It always came back to eat away at her.

Until her door opened during a Halloween celebration. Rose was dancing on stage, dressed like a sexy werewolf, practically whoring herself out for any money the hungry, horny inhabitants would throw at her, when she felt it.

Time seemed to stop when she saw the bright light outlining the front door of the establishment. People didn't seem to notice it. How could they not see it?

On instinct, as if all the answers she'd been looking for were just beyond that door, Rose ran towards it. When she grabbed the handle and yanked, the door practically fell off its hinges.

And all at once, the memories hit her.

She remembered who and what she truly was.

A badass bitch.

After a few moments of disorientation, she walked into the hallway. It was dark, dusty, and old. How did the door get unlocked? And why at that moment?

"Run..." a voice whispered in her mind.

Rose ran towards the door that she knew was the way out, but on her way, she paused when she saw a white door.

"O"Callaghan," she whispered.

Rose ran to the door but the knob started to turn and she gasped before running ahead. She hid in the dark when a bulky man, looking to be in his late twenties came waltzing out of the door with a large bag over his broad shoulders.

"Thanks for the product, Jorõ," the man said in an American west coast accent. "I'll be back next year."

"Okay, Happy Halloween, Jet!" a woman yelled from behind the door.

Jet shut the door and locked it with a key.

"Product?" Rose thought to herself.

Once Jet was out of sight, Rose turned on her heel to leave when she heard that voice again.

"Follow him,"the voice said.

Rose sighed. "Fuck that shite, I'm gettin' the feck outta here."

"The door won't open. Believe me, I've tried."

Rose ignored the voice and continued running. When she finally managed to get to the door, there were chains and locks on it. She didn't see that before.

"The feck is this?!" Rose shrieked before trying to shift into her wolf form.

But she couldn't.

"Your powers are suppressed, child," the voice said. "Those are the chains of Mallacht."

The woman blinked, looking quite confused. "Who the feck is Mallacht?"

"No time to explain. Follow Jet before he locks Lilly's door."

Rose grumbled. Fuck that. She wanted to get out of there. She yanked on the chains but they wouldn't budge.

"I told you, I've tried to remove the locks! You're running out of time!" the voice urged.

With a growl, Rose gave the door a good kick before racing down the hall. "Who the feck are ya?" she hissed angrily, sounding out of breath.

"You'll see, child. Just hurry. You've almost caught up to him!"

Rose went faster, wondering why she was feeling so worn out. What was happening to her?

After a few hundred yards, Rose caught a glimpse of Jet opening a red door.

"How am I supposed tah get through without him seein' me?" she thought.

"Leave that to me," the voice chuckled.

As Jet walked through the door, he shouted loudly. "Dammit, Fuschia! Turn your fucking game off!"

"Go! Now!"

Rose raced towards the door and poked her head through to see a large, blue bubble with Jet inside. He was making a weird, coordinated fighting stance with a rather large trident in his hands. And he was apparently fighting a monster of some kind.

"Go now while he's busy!"

Rose inched her way around the bubble as Jet launched himself and struck the animal with his weapon. White numbers appeared above the monster before it growled and the numbers faded.

"Canna he see me?" she thought, getting the idea that the voice could speak with her telepathically.

"It's a pocket dimension," the voice explained. "We can look in, but he can't look out of it."

"Fer how long?" The monster roared before charging Jet, causing damage to the man. "Oh, is this a turn based computer game of some kind?"

"Yes. Now get going."

Rose ran through the icy cavern quickly, not sure which way to go. There were so many paths to take. And yet she found herself feeling like she was heading in the right direction. It wasn't long until Rose reached the end of the cave, seeing the bones of a dead horse at the mouth of said cave.

That seemed oddly familiar.

"Good. Now, I need you to get to Mount Hagen. Quickly, child!"

As soon as Rose stepped out of the cave and saw her surroundings, she knew exactly where she was.

This was the cave entrance that Lilly found during the snowstorm of 1899. And those bones...

Rose gulped and looked behind her at the remains. "Oh Holly," she wept.

"We have no time for the past, child. At least not yet. You have to come to Mount Hagen."

Rose wiped her tears and sighed. "And why should I listen tah yas?" she growled. "I dunna even know who ya are!"

"Where else are you going to go? You can't leave your mind, the door is locked. You can't stay out in the open, especially at night. Your powers are suppressed so you wouldn't last the whole night without shelter. You only have a couple of hours left of light before the real horrors come. And it won't be long until one or some of Mallacht's brood comes storming through. What choice do you have?"

Rose crossed her arms, contemplating her options. It was logical, it made sense. "Give me one reason why I should believe you."

"How long were you in your prison?" the voice asked.

"I dunna...I dunna know. Very long. I think...at least a century? I...I dunna know fer sure. It's...fuzzy," Rose explained, suddenly feeling confused.

"Do you not find it odd that Carman, Dubh and Corvin have not come to rescue you?"

Rose blinked, eyeing the sky with a glare. "Nobody else came tah save me, neither."

"Are you not aware of who caused this in the first place?"

"No and I dunna care. They're dead, or they will be when I get me hands on 'em," Rose snarled.

"Very well. And how do you propose to do that, considering your current obstacles?"

That gave Rose pause. She still couldn't change into her wolf form, and she felt exhausted. Like a human.

Maybe this person has some drugs.

"Ya got any drugs with ya?" Rose asked.

"Drugs?! What the hell have you been doing, Rose?!" the voice shouted.

"Living me mother feckin' life tah the god damn fullest, that's what!"

"Oh, nonsense!"

"Drugs or it's no deal!"

"You're being ridiculous!"

"No, I'm bein' me! What's it gonna be, lady?!"

There was a long pause. "I have no drugs."

"Alcohol?"

"No."

"Then bye bye, bitch!" Rose laughed before walking through the snow. "Feck, it's cold!" she grumbled, ripping her werewolf mask off and tossing it on the ground.
