Chapter 7
Three Years Later
" There has been an attack on a Republic base on Tatooine. Reports are saying that is was a single Sith. Descriptions of the Sith's size and build match Yumikaya but there is no visual description of the Sith's features. " Kalina spoke calmly before Shae Vizla sighed softly.
" Even if we find her, You know as well as I do that Malgus will have twisted her into a creature of hatred and darkness. Do we have a way to bring her back? " Shae Vizla looked concerned before Deshla walked over and spoke.
" Before she was taken, Kaya kissed Atali. If we have any hope of bringing my sister back, Atali is it. We should investigate the attack on Tatooine. If nothing else, We have a starting point there. " Deshla smiled reassuringly but as everyone nodded and turned away, Her smile faltered slowly.
Meanwhile
" The base has been destroyed Master. I retrieved the item you wanted. "
" Well done. Stay on Tatooine. There is another relic I want you to find before you return to me. I will contact you soon with further instructions. "
" Yes, Master. "
" You have been the favourite since he found you. " A young woman spoke cheekily as the holocall ended.
" Get to the point Kaliyo. "
" I am just saying, He gives you way more leeway than anyone else. What did you do to earn so much trust? " Kaliyo spoke calmly before the Sith turned away and spoke.
" I have not failed a single mission or let a single target escape me. "
" Fair enough. So where are we headed next boss? " Kaliyo smirked playfully as the Sith glared toward her impatiently before Kaliyo laughed and spoke. " Relax, I was only joking. I'll be in the cantina when you get your orders. You aren't paying me overtime. "
Aratarus's Ship
" There are no reports of Imperial ships leaving the system. That Sith must still be planet side. Tracking them will be a trick though. No survivors from the base attack. How do we go about finding them? " Mako spoke softly before Shae giggled and spoke.
" Finding them isn't the problem. Lean on a local Imperial hard enough and they will tell you anything. Imperial grunts aren't courageous. " Shae grinned before Mako shot her a dumbfounded expression.
" Grunts won't know anything useful about a Sith! " Mako huffed impatiently before Shae Vizla spoke.
" But they will know the local patrol routes and Officer deployments. Use a grunt to find an Officer, Lean on the Officer for information about local Sith and follow the trail. Otherwise, We will have to hire some local meat to track down whatever trail might have been left at the base. " Shae sighed irritably before Kalina spoke calmly.
" Why not both? Aratarus, Mako and Deshla will track down an Officer while Shae, Atali and I work on the local trail. Better odds that way. " Kalina smiled as everyone nodded before Aratarus's ship landed with a mechanical thud before he entered the room and spoke.
" Got a plan yet? " Aratarus looked around before Mako spoke happily.
" Sure do. I'll tell you on the way. " Mako giggled playfully before everyone left the ship.
Cantina
" You talk big for someone who just got his ass kicked by a pretty little thing like me. " Kaliyo giggled playfully as the people around her turned away before the patron she had beaten staggered out of the cantina as the Sith walked in and motioned for Kaliyo to follow before sitting in an isolated corner of the cantina.
" I take it you are enjoying yourself Kaliyo. "
" Indeed I am. As always. We have our orders yet? " Kaliyo had an irritated expression as the Sith shook their head.
" Waiting for orders is irritating me aswell. However, Our stay won't be boring. People of interest are here. They are digging into our attack on the Republic base. There are two groups. One is investigating the base remains. The other is scouting local informants. Take the group at the base. I will deal with the other. My master can scold us later. "
" Agreed. Good hunting Sith. " Kaliyo stood and left the cantina before heading toward the base as the Sith left and headed for the nearby Imperial outpost.
Dune Sea Patrol Route
" You will get nothing from me. " The Imperial Soldier spat on the ground before Deshla kicked him in the face before speaking.
" It is a simple question. All we want to know is the location of your commanding officer. " Deshla smiled sweetly before pressing the tip of a dagger against the inside of the soldiers thigh as she continued. " I would hate to resort to unsavoury methods. "
" Wait! " The soldier breathed quickly but relaxed slightly as Deshla put away her dagger. " There is an Imperial outpost at the northern edge of the Dune Sea. The commanding officer is stationed there! "
" That wasn't so hard was it? " Deshla smiled again before pressing a stun baton to the soldiers neck, Knocking him unconscious as she looked over to where Mako and Aratarus were keeping watch and whistling loudly enough for them to hear. As they walked over, Deshla spoke. " Northern edge of the Dune Sea. Officer is stationed at an outpost. "
" Let's get to it. The sooner we get info, The sooner we find that Sith. " Mako smiled reassuringly before they headed toward the northern edge.
Meanwhile
" Just shut up and take cover damn it! " Kalina spoke forcefully as a rifle shot hit her square in the chest, Knocking her off her feet as she groaned. " Damn sniper... "
" I can't even see where the shot came from! Who the hell is this... " Shae gasped loudly as a rifle shot ricocheted of the side of her helmet before Atali spoke softly.
" I can't see who it is but I saw where that shot came from. They are on the overlook to the north. They must be very well trained to make a shot from that far away. " Atali cried out in shock as a rifle shot hit the edge of the boulder she was hiding behind before Shae spoke sternly.
" We need support. That sniper has us pinned. " Shae looked around before seeing a Republic flare gun. " Alright. Let's call in some cavalry. Atali, I will draw the sniper fire. Get to the flare gun over there and get us some help. "
" Right. Ready when you are. " Atali breathed slowly before turning her body to face the flare gun. After a moment, Shae darted out from where she was hiding and ran across the base quickly as Atali took off and dived to the flare gun before pointing it toward the sky and pulling the trigger as a rifle bolt hit Shae in the middle of her back, Knocking her to the ground as the flare lit up brightly.
Several Minutes Later
" Blast it! " Kaliyo stood and ran from the overlook she was sniping from as a Republic Troop Transport flew over her head and landed near the ruined base. As she ran, Kaliyo called the Sith over Holo-communicator. As the call answered, Kaliyo spoke quickly. " They got a flare off. The Republic brought in a response team. I am heading your way. The Republic will keep this team busy for now. "
" Good. Get here quickly. They have almost arrived. " The Sith ended the call before Kaliyo groaned irritably.
Imperial Outpost
" My Lord, I just don't think it a viable plan. To attack this outpost would be suicide. " The Officer spoke sternly before the Sith turned to face him.
" What is suicide, Is questioning my orders. Get in line Captain. Or I will find one of your men who will. Make your defences look lacklustre or take them apart entirely, I don't care which you choose but choose fast. I want it to look like the Empire doesn't heavily defend this position. " The Sith left the room as the Captain sighed and nodded to the other men in the room before they issued orders to the outpost guards.
A Few Hours Later
" Are we sure this is it? This place looks like the Empire hasn't been here in force in months. " Mako spoke calmly as Aratarus shook his head.
" It's a tactic to draw us in. It's one some hunters use. Make it look like no one is here. Make it look unattended or abandoned and set up traps or a battalion of troops. When your target walks in, There is no way out. That is a kill box. Whoever wants us here knows we are coming. " Aratarus looked around before spotting a glint from a nearby overlook. " Sniper on the ridge line. I'd say there is a garrison inside and most likely the Sith that obliterated that Republic Base. We wanna make it out of this alive, We need to give that Sith a reason to come out here. "
" How do we do that? " Kalina spoke softly before Mako pressed a series of buttons on her wrist guard. After a few minutes, Aratarus's ship flew toward the base and opened fire, Blowing holes in the exterior wall and damaging the communications array before flying upwards into orbit as smoke filled the area. As sounds of panic filled the base, The Sith walked through the smoke and spoke loudly.
" Well played. You wanted me in the open, Here I am. Show yourselves! "
Aratarus scoffed loudly before walking out from the hiding spot and speaking calmly. " Your plan wasn't bad, But I have dealt with the Empire for long enough to know a kill box when I see one. You have information that I am seeking. We need not fight. "
" Perhaps I do. As for fighting, We really do need to. " The Sith took a lightsabre of their belt before igniting it and walking sideways slowly as Aratarus watched carefully. As The Sith motioned to move, Deshla stepped out, Causing the Sith to glance toward her slowly. " I see you brought help. "
" I'm not help. And you aren't going to hurt us. " Deshla spoke calmly before the Sith laughed loudly.
" And what makes you say that? "
As the Sith turned her head toward her, Deshla crossed her arms before speaking sternly. " Is this all you are? A puppet? "
" You don't know the things he did to me. " The Sith spoke softly before taking off her helmet, Revealing Yumikaya's face. Her skin was a faded grey, Her eyes glowed with a malicious orange tinge and she had what appeared to be burn marks on the left side of her face as Deshla spoke again.
" No I don't sister. But I will listen to you tell me. Come home with us. Please... " Deshla spoke soothingly as Yumikaya switched off her lightsabre and spoke.
" You know I cannot do that. No one walks away from him. " Yumikaya spoke sadly before dropping her helmet and reigniting her lightsabre. " I have no choice. " Yumikaya moved into a combat stance before motioning to charge.
As she took a step, A rifle shot hit her in the back of the head. As Yumikaya fell to her knees, Deshla ran forwards and caught her before her body hit the ground. As Deshla screamed, Aratarus raised his cannon and opened fire as Imperial Soldiers rushed out of the base. Once the soldiers were dealt with, Aratarus had Mako land his ship nearby before calling Kalina.
As the ship landed, Kaliyo's Holo-communicator rang. As she answered, Darth Malgus spoke sternly.
" Is it done? " Malgus spoke calmly before Kaliyo nodded.
" Made it look like a legitimate shot. Head shot for good measure. She will be pissed when she wakes up but they will think it was betrayal. Your spy is in place. " Kaliyo spoke calmly before sighing irritably. " This is an obscene amount of effort for one Sith Lord. "
" She is no mere Sith Lord. Darth Nox is quite seriously one of the most powerful Sith alive and sat on the Dark Council for near an entire lifetime before she left the Empire. She is also the only living creature with knowledge of my plans. That spy is her daughter and will lead us straight to Nox. I am sending you coordinates. Retrieve the artefact and return to my ship. I have other missions for you. " Malgus ended the call before Kaliyo could respond as Kaliyo groaned and left the area.
One Week Later
Yumikaya groaned painfully and rubbed the back of her head tenderly as her finger ran over the small scar from the rifle shot as she spoke bitterly. " This is why I have trust issues. That bitch has got to die. "
" Language. " Atali spoke softly as she walked into the room and sat beside Yumikaya's bed. " Nice to see you to by the way. "
" Is it? Am I the girl you remember? Or am I just the one you are stuck with. " Yumikaya spoke with a sour tone of voice before looking around the room. " Alderaan. This is the medical facility Kalina took me to when you were still sleeping. "
" Correct. And no. You are not the girl that my heart beats for. But I am not stuck with you either. I choose to be here so I can help you become yourself again. " Atali smiled reassuringly but her smile faltered as Yumikaya stood, Letting the bed sheets fall away from her body freely as she spoke.
" You think you can fix what he did to me? " Yumikaya spoke forcefully as Atali's eyes ran over Yumikaya's body, Stopping on each scar that adorned her skin. " He broke me down to the last fibre of who I was and replaced it with hatred and malice. How do you plan to fix that? "
" I don't know. But I know that I can. " Atali stood as Yumikaya turned away and pulled a gown over her head as she spoke.
" That is not an answer. " Yumikaya gently pushed past Atali before leaving the room.
" Where are you going? " Atali followed Yumikaya as Yumikaya walked down the hall and stopping at the nurse station.
" My clothes. " Yumikaya spoke sternly but felt irritated as the nurse shook her head. " I will not ask twice. "
The nurse sighed audibly before standing and walking through a door at the back of the nurses station before reappearing with a box and handing it to Yumikaya. After taking the box, Yumikaya returned to the room she was in and closed the door, Locking it before Atali could enter. As Atali stood at the door, She spoke with desperation in her voice.
" You have no idea how it broke my heart when they took you away. Or how much it broke my heart to think you were dead in Deshla's arms on Tatooine. Please don't shut me out Kaya. We were just starting to connect with each other on a deeper level and now you feel worlds apart from me. Please let me in... " Atali leant her head against the door for a moment before the lock clicked and the door opened to show Yumikaya in her Sith armour as she spoke.
" The last person I trusted shot me in the head. While being tortured, I called your name. Screamed your name. Wished with everything that I had that you could hear me and received only silence in return. This is what I am Atali. There is no delusion in me that entertains the thought of you fixing it. No one can fix it. " Yumikaya motioned to walk past Atali but staggered backwards as Atali slapped her roughly before speaking.
" How dare you. It is not my fault that he tortured you. It is not my fault that I couldn't hear you. I searched for you for three years before you attacked that Republic Base. I have felt empty and alone and heartbroken since I watched that bastard steal you from me. Don't you dare speak to me like I did nothing. Don't you dare speak to me like you are the only one who suffers. Don't you dare speak to me like I am nothing to you. " Atali sobbed as tears streamed down her face before pulling Yumikaya to her feet and kissing her passionately, Causing a stunned look to adorn Yumikaya's face. As Atali broke the kiss, Yumikaya pulled away forcefully and clutched at her chest as a surging ache filled her torso.
" What the hell did you to me?! " Yumikaya groaned painfully as the aching in her chest continued building before her breathing became ragged and laboured. " What is this?! "
" This is how I fix it Kaya. Your heart belongs to me whether you realise it or not and my heart belongs to you. Even if you don't want to admit it, We love each other and even now, Even with you like this, We are bound to each other so stop being a childish bitch and let me in damn you! " Atali rushed forward and pinned Yumikaya to the bed before kissing her again as Yumikaya struggled to escape for a few moments before falling still as tears ran down the sides of her face as Atali broke the kiss and sat up, Forcing her weight onto Yumikaya's hips as she spoke. " The last words I said before he stole you was that I wanted and needed more. That has not changed. "
" Why... " Yumikaya sobbed softly as Atali looked toward her with confusion. " He broke me Atali. He took everything from me. Took away everything that I was. Why the hell would anyone want me now... " Yumikaya shoved Atali off of her before running from the room as Atali cried softly.
A Few Days Later
Yumikaya was sitting on what was left of the hill where she was taken by Malgus as Atali walked over and sat beside her.
" You just don't quit do you. " Yumikaya sighed audibly as Atali kissed her cheek gently.
" I will never give up on you Kaya. If you want me to stop, Kill me. " Atali had a serious look on her face as Yumikaya looked toward her with shock on her face before being pulled forward as Atali kissed her passionately. After pulling away, Yumikaya clutched at her chest as the aching pain filled her again.
" Stop it... I don't want to feel this pain... " Yumikaya turned away as she breathed painfully before Atali put her arms around Yumikaya's waist and held her lovingly.
" It only hurts because you are fighting it. We are meant to be together Kaya. Why can't you accept that? " Atali spoke soothingly but looked taken aback as Yumikaya glanced over her shoulder with teary eyes.
" Because I will not give him another way to torture me. I will not give him any weapon to use against me. I will not allow him to have you. Please... Just... Just stop... " Yumikaya had a pleading look in her eyes as Atali leant forward and kissed her cheek softly before walking away as Yumikaya raised her hand toward a nearby tree, Causing it to explode into a rain of splinters as she growled aggressively.
Nightfall
Atali was sitting in her room in the hostel everyone was staying in before the door opened to show Yumikaya in a night gown. Before Atali could react, Yumikaya quickly covered the length of the room, Pinned Atali to the ground and bit her neck seductively, Forcing a soft moan to escape Atali's lips before she winced as Yumikaya licked the bite mark as Atali spoke.
" Kaya... Please... " Atali moaned again as Yumikaya bit the same spot, More forcefully before once again licking the bite mark and speaking softly.
" Please what? " Yumikaya sat up, Pinning Atali's hips to the floor with her weight as she glared toward Atali with a primal lust in her eyes as Atali spoke.
" Are you here because you want me? Or because you want a distraction from the storm in your head? " Atali spoke bluntly before Yumikaya seized her shirt and ripped it open, Sending buttons flying as she spoke.
" Does it matter? " Yumikaya leant down and motioned to kiss Atali's bare chest before Atali pushed her away gently.
" It does to me. " Atali pulled her shirt closed before Yumikaya groaned irritably.
" I don't know okay? I just want this. You. I don't know anything else. " Yumikaya looked away as Atali sighed softly.
" Kaya, I love you, But I am not a toy. Go back to your room and keep your hands to yourself until you figure it out. " Atali looked hurt as Yumikaya looked toward her with unrelenting lust and desire as her hands moved forward before Atali quickly reached out and slapped her, Forcing Yumikaya to fall backwards as Atali stood and spoke loudly. " I AM NOT A TOY KAYA! GET OUT! "
Atali stormed into the bathroom and sealed the door as Yumikaya stood and yelled angrily before leaving the room. As the door closed, Atali sat down before bursting into tears. " Damn it... Damn it all... "
The Next Day
Yumikaya growled as she held her cheek tenderly after being slapped by Kalina.
" How dare you. How dare you do that to Atali and how dare you behave like it is acceptable. Get back to your room and stay there until I say you can leave. You come out before then and I'll put you back in that damn slave collar until we go to your mother. " Kalina looked completely appalled as Yumikaya stood and spoke angrily.
" Make me. I dare you. " Yumikaya balled her fists as Kalina glared toward her with irritation and shock on her face before another voice made them both freeze.
" Enough. "
Yumikaya and Kalina turned to see a Sith woman standing in the hallway, Flanked by Imperials wearing blood red armour. Before anyone could speak, The Sith seized Yumikaya's arm and dragged her down the hallway as the guards blocked the hall.
" Listen to me carefully. Malgus played you. He is waiting for you to go to your mother so he can find her and kill her. He has been playing you since the moment he took you captive. Nothing you do is your own choice. I can break his control but I need you to trust me. "
" That is the stupidest thing I have heard all week. Why would I trust you? " Yumikaya spoke sternly but looked taken aback as the woman leant forward and whispered in her ear.
" Because I am the one that helped your mother leave the Empire. She trusted me with your safety before you were even born. " The woman stood straight as Yumikaya looked thoughtful for a moment before sighing.
" Make it quick. I have more pressing matters than Malgus. " Yumikaya looked irritated as the woman giggled softly.
" I sincerely doubt that. However, I can undo what he did. But it will be more painful than anything you have ever felt before. " The woman smiled sweetly as Yumikaya scoffed.
" I sincerely doubt that. Get on wi... " Yumikaya gasped as the woman seized her head before blinding pain shot through her skull, Forcing Yumikaya to scream in agony as her vision went blank for what felt like eternity. After several moments, Yumikaya snapped out of the haze filling her head before speaking hoarsely. " What the hell did you just do?! "
" When you were his captive, Did he do any experimentation on you? "
" How did you... " Yumikaya rubbed her head gently as her mind started to clear, Washing away the anger that was filling her.
" Several years ago, Malgus approached the Dark Council with a proposal. He had abducted a Republic scientist who specialised in cybernetic implantation. Malgus had forced that scientist to develop an implant that could alter a persons personality and emotional state through a combination of subtle subconscious commands and manipulation of the electrical signals in the brain. Very advanced technology and I just destroyed it. I can have it surgically removed if you like. "
" Appreciate that. And then tell me where Malgus is so I can ram it down his throat. " Yumikaya spoke raggedly before the woman giggled softly.
" That would be a poor course of action. He will be aware that the implant is disabled. I recommend you do nothing. Take some time to recover after the surgery and let me do some digging. Malgus is as much a thorn in my side as he is in yours. "
" Fine. But if it comes down to taking him out, I want the killing blow. " Yumikaya had a look of bloodlust in her eyes as the woman laughed heartily.
" Agreed. Now come along. The surgeon is already waiting. "
" You knew I would want this stupid thing out of my head didn't you? " Yumikaya sighed as the woman smirked before walking down the hall and pushing open a door to an operating room. After Yumikaya entered, A nurse motioned to the bed in the middle of the room before holding up a small injector and speaking calmly.
" This is a powerful sedative. While we could use a lower dosage, This dose will keep you sedated for two weeks. Your body and mind will start to recover while you sleep. Please lie down and try to hold still until it takes effect. "
Yumikaya sighed before laying on the table before the nurse pressed the injector against Yumikaya's neck. After several moments, Yumikaya's eyes slowly closed. Once she was asleep, The nurse moved a machine into position above Yumikaya's head before running a scan and speaking calmly once it was complete.
" It appears the implant is connected directly to her frontal lobe. We will have to repair the damage once we remove it. It may have temporary or permanent side effects depending on the damage to her brain. "
" Proceed. We will handle the outcome. That implant must be removed for her to be of use. "
The nurse nodded before moving the machine as the surgeon stepped toward the table.
Yumikaya's Mind
" Fool. You think you will escape me if they remove that implant? You are mine. You will always be mine. No matter where you run, I will always find you. "
" I'm the fool? Says the man that can't even find one person without cutting someone open. Not as smart as you think you are Malgus. "
" Perhaps. Perhaps not. It matters little. I will find your mother and I will kill her. There is nothing you can do to stop it. "
" Maybe not. But I am not the only one who will stand in your way. Even if I fail, Others will succeed. "
" Who is it you place such faith in? The Sith that is pulling the implant from your head? The little plaything you are so fond of? Your mother? No one can stand against me. "
" If that was true, You wouldn't stink of fear. You know it is just a matter of time. You're going to die. "
" I think not. But it is no concern of yours. You are irrelevant. "
" I suppose that is why you had Kaliyo shoot me. Or was that so you could put a spy in my family? Thought the implant would let you control me? "
" I have controlled you since the moment it was inserted into your head. Every action you have taken, Every decision you have made has been my voice whispering in your ear. You will never be free of it. Even without the implant, You will be unable to resist the commands in your head. "
" We will see. Maybe I am just a puppet. But I will never stop resisting. I will never stop fighting and even if it kills me, I will never stop hunting you. "
" I would expect nothing less. You are a savage. Even when you are calm. I liked that about you. But not to worry. I will make you whole again soon. "
" I will take my own life before letting this happen twice Malgus. Next time we meet, I will teach you the true meaning of agony. "
" I welcome you to try child. Far stronger beings have failed. "
" It would be no fun if it wasn't a challenge. "
" Then bring all your wrath and anger upon me. I will be your reckoning. "
Reality
Yumikaya groaned softly as she awoke slowly to see Atali sleeping beside her bed. As Yumikaya sat up, Atali's eyes shot open for a moment before blinking sleepily.
" I wasn't sleeping! " Atali shook her head for a moment before realising Yumikaya was awake and smiling slightly and speaking coldly. " Welcome back. "
" Good to see you to by the way. " Yumikaya smiled playfully before sighing and speaking sadly. " I am so sorry Atali. "
" For what? Breaking my heart? Tearing my shirt open and treating me like a toy? For being a psychotic bitch? " Atali turned away angrily but sighed softly as Yumikaya touched her hand gently.
" That to. But... I am sorry for not being strong enough... " Yumikaya looked down at her hands as tears filled her eyes. " I am so sorry for being weak. I am so sorry for letting him break me. For letting Malgus change me like that. I am so sorry for everything... "
" There's the Kaya I kissed on that hilltop. " Atali smiled lovingly but her smile faltered as Yumikaya looked toward her with heartache and despair.
" I am sorry for that too. Because I don't know if I am that girl either. " Yumikaya cried softly as Atali bit her lip. " I feel like the girl you kissed and the girl that ripped open your shirt are complete strangers. I don't even recognise who I am inside... I don't know who I am now... Only what I have done... "
As Yumikaya cried loudly, Atali forced back tears as her heart ached before shaking her head. " It doesn't matter. "
Atali paused as Yumikaya looked toward her with shock.
" How can it not matter?! " Yumikaya looked hurt as Atali shook her head.
" It doesn't. I love you. I loved you on that hill and I loved you when you ripped my shirt open. I love you even now. I don't care if you don't know who you are yet. We will figure it out together. Just let me in this time. " Atali held Yumikaya's hand lovingly before leaning her head against Yumikaya's carefully as she caressed her cheek softly.
" Atali... I am so confused and scared but I want... I need... " Yumikaya bit her lip before bursting into tears again. " I don't even know how to finish that sentence... "
" It's okay Kaya. We will figure it all out. But you need to rest and let your mind heal. Just relax. I promise I will stay right here with you. " Atali smiled sweetly before kissing Yumikaya's cheek tenderly as she managed to stop crying and spoke softly.
" I don't know how to feel Atali... There are so many voices in my head and none of them sound or feel like me... Please... Please help me... " Yumikaya laid back as Atali nodded and held her hand tightly as she spoke.
" Ofcourse I will help you. I told you didn't I? I will never give up on you. Never. " Atali smiled lovingly before wiping the tears away from Yumikaya's face gently, Slowing her thumb as it moved over Yumikaya's lips, Causing her to gasp loudly and hold her head as pain shot through her skull as a panicked look appeared on Atali's face before Yumikaya fell still and breathed slowly before speaking.
