Chapter 11
Three Weeks Later
" She has slept for too long. " Savii spoke calmly before Atali sighed loudly.
" Can you blame her? Whatever Malgus did when he spoke... Whatever that language was, It took over her completely. She would have killed us if you hadn't... Whatever that was. " Atali spoke softly but had a look of concern as she placed a damp cloth on Yumikaya's forehead as she lay still in her medical bed, Breathing slowly.
" Something is not right. She should have awoken days ago. I don't like it. " Savii folded her arms and turned away as Atali stood with a look of frustration on her face and spoke sternly.
" You think I do? I haven't had more than a moment alone with her since we got her back. I hate this more than anyone Savii. " Atali looked like she was about to cry as she sat back down and held Yumikaya's hand.
Meanwhile
" Easy Satele. You need rest. " Shae spoke softly as Satele sat up and groaned painfully.
" I'm not dead so I have rested enough. Is Yumikaya alright? " Satele spoke calmly as Shae sighed softly.
" She hasn't woken up yet. We don't know what is wrong. " Shae sighed softly as Satele massaged her chest tenderly as a heavy ache weaved through it.
" Do we have any idea what Malgus did to her? " Satele spoke sternly but had a saddened expression as Shae shook her head.
" Kalina had the chance to record him speaking in that language that controlled her but she hasn't been able to translate it. Whatever language it is, It isn't in Republic databases. " Shae spoke calmly before Satele sighed.
" Then we need to search Imperial databases. " Satele groaned loudly as pain shot through her shoulder before she leant back against the pillow of her medical bed as Shae spoke.
" And how do you suggest we do that? " Shae spoke sternly before the door opened, Followed by a soft giggle.
" Say please. " Mako grinned as Satele and Shae looked toward before she continued. " Not that you actually have to. Kalina already did. She is waiting. "
" Time for rest is over it seems. " Satele smiled as Shae stood and helped her out of bed before following Mako. After leaving the medical facility, They followed Mako to Arsaor's shop. As they entered, Kalina spoke.
" Now that everyone is here let me explain the situation. While Mako was accessing Imperial files, I got in touch with some of my old Intelligence friends. We know what Malgus did to Kaya. But first, The language he was speaking. " Kalina paused for a moment before Mako spoke.
" If my info is right, He was speaking High Sith. I had to go digging into the Sith databases to even find a mention of it. " Mako sighed softly before looking toward Kalina as she spoke.
" As for what he did to Kaya, My contacts found information about Malgus conducting experiments. Some sort of conditioning using High Sith as a trigger. It forces people to do his bidding. They cannot control it nor can they resist. " Kalina sighed sadly before continuing. " As far as my contacts are aware, There is no way to reverse it. "
" Her mother was his apprentice. If anyone knows how to awaken her or how to fix it, It will be her. We need to take Kaya to Ilum. " Shae spoke calmly before everyone around the room nodded.
Eight Days Later
" Kali. It is so good to see you after so long. "
" Likewise Nira. I found her. But there are... Complications. Malgus got hold of her for three years. " Kalina sighed softly before speaking. " He showed up on Alderaan. He did something to her. When he spoke in High Sith... "
" I will meet you in orbit and undo it. She can meet us when she is ready. " Zanira spoke calmly before Kalina nodded and ended the holocall.
After exiting hyperspace, A small shuttle flew into the hangar of Larkhan's frigate before landing next to Aratarus's ship. As Kalina walked toward the hangar, She froze as footsteps approached before smiling as Zanira walked around the corner and smiled happily.
" To see you in person after all these years... " Zanira smiled brightly before rushing forward and hugging Kalina tightly as Kalina sighed softly.
" It does my heart so much good to see you again Nira. But I am so sorry. I failed. I failed to keep her safe... " Kalina looked away sadly before Zanira placed a hand on her cheek gently and spoke soothingly.
" You did more than I could ever ask of you. She is here because of you. She is home because of you. Don't you dare say you failed. " Zanira hugged Kalina tightly again before Kalina spoke softly.
" She needs you. I asked everyone else to wait on the bridge. Come with me. " Kalina stepped back before holding Zanira's hand and pulling her toward the medbay gently. As they walked in, Zanira blinked back tears as she looked upon the face of her daughter for the first time since she was a child.
" Look how she has grown... My darling girl... " Zanira smiled as she ran her fingers through Yumikaya's hair slowly before clearing her throat and sighing as the Force flowed through her while she spoke in High Sith. " Titsû kam shiyi tuti dari tuti zûtaditi. Tsûtri wa ri asarsi an ri sawas. "
Ten Minutes Later
As Zanira stepped away and sighed exhaustively, Yumikaya took a deep breathe before breathing normally and stirring slightly as she rolled onto her side and slept peacefully as Zanira pulled the blankets up to her shoulders and kissed her head gently. " I will see you soon my darling. Rest now. "
" Is that all it took? " Kalina spoke in disbelief before Zanira smiled.
" All it took? To undo what Malgus did was not as easy as speaking High Sith. What I did through the Force to repair the damage he did was complicated. " Zanira smiled but fell to her knees as she sighed again. " And exhausting... I need to return home and rest. Taya will be out of her mind with worry if I am gone too long. When Kaya is ready, Bring her home. "
" Ofcourse. " Kalina smiled before draping Zanira's arm around her shoulders and helping her back to her shuttle. As the shuttle left the transport, Kalina turned around to see Atali looking toward her with teary eyes.
" Tell me she is alright. Tell me she will recover. " Atali bit her lip before Kalina smiled and nodded.
" She will be just fine. She is breathing normally and currently sleeping. Go and see for yourself. " Kalina smiled as Atali's sad look turned to one of joy before she turned and ran toward the medbay.
Medical Bay
Yumikaya had awoken shortly after Zanira and Kalina had left and was stretching as Atali burst into the room before looking toward her with relief as she quickly walked over and kissed Yumikaya deeply. After pulling away and sighing softly, Atali cupped Yumikaya's face as she spoke.
" Don't scare me like that... You slept for weeks... " Atali sniffled softly as Yumikaya nuzzled her cheek gently before roughly pulling her onto the bed and flipping her onto her back as she sat on her lap while Atali blushed brightly. " K... Kaya... What are you... "
Yumikaya shook her head before pulling her shirt off, Revealing her bare chest as Atali blushed brightly before Yumikaya pulled Atali's hand up to her chest and placed them on her breasts as she spoke. " I need this Atali... We don't have to go further but please let me have this... I need your touch... "
" Mm... Yeah... Okay... " Atali sat up as she squeezed Yumikaya's breasts tightly, Causing her to moan softly before biting down on her neck, Forcing a soft gasp to leave her lips before Yumikaya gasped loudly and pulled away from Atali and stepped away from the bed before speaking quickly.
" Atali... Is that... You have... " Yumikaya looked shocked as Atali stood and sighed softly.
" I would have preferred you didn't find out quite like this... " Atali blushed brightly before biting her lip and speaking slowly. " I really wanted to tell you... "
" You... " Yumikaya's jaw dropped as Atali fidgeted with the hem of her shirt before whimpering and speaking softly.
" Is it weird? " Atali looked nervous before Yumikaya snapped out of her shock and walked forward with a lustful look in her eyes as she spoke.
" Actually... " Yumikaya ran her hand up Atali's leg before rubbing between her legs slowly. " I can't wait to see. Just think, We will be able to have our own children someday. "
" I... I would like that... But... " Atali gasped softly as Yumikaya gripped her tightly before groaning softly. " Kaya... Be gentle... It's sensitive... "
" Sorry... Little overexcited about this... It's so tempting to make you show me... " Yumikaya licked her lips seductively before sighing and stepping back. " But I can't let my instincts overwhelm me. As much as I would love to give in... "
" Why do you have to be such a damn tease... " Atali blushed brightly as Yumikaya giggled and kissed her gently before pulling her shirt back over her head and sitting on the bed as she spoke.
" Does anyone else know? " Yumikaya watched as Atali wrapped her arms around herself and spoke.
" That are still living, Only the scientists who made me. They called it a defect but... To be both male and female made me unique among my people. Even though we were all special in our own way, I was the only one made this way. The other children found out eventually and it sort of alienated me but they came to accept me over time. " Atali blushed lightly as she sat beside Yumikaya and continued. " But it is why I am not ready for anything too physical. I am really self conscious about it. I worry that if others knew, I would be singled out again. "
" I know. And it hasn't changed how I feel about you. I am so, So looking forward to everything so much more now. We can experience everything there is to experience together now. It makes our relationship so special in so many ways Atali. " Yumikaya smiled happily as Atali sighed softly, Her doubt and anxiety melting away as Yumikaya continued. " I promise, I will do my absolute best to hold back... But wow... And it felt so... " Yumikaya blushed brightly as whispered slowly. " It felt so big... "
" I wouldn't say that... I have always thought I was average to be honest. " Atali giggled softly as Yumikaya kissed her cheek gently and spoke.
" We need to change the subject... If we keep talking about this, I will have to let go of my control... I'll need it too much... So instead, Tell me what I have missed. " Yumikaya smiled as Atali giggled and spoke.
" You are so bad Kaya. Okay, Well, What do you remember? " Atali waited as Yumikaya thought for a moment before speaking.
" I remember Malgus showing up and then everything is fuzzy until you exploded through the door. " Yumikaya giggled teasingly as Atali scoffed and spoke.
" I didn't explode through the door! I was excited alright! " Atali turned away before Yumikaya licked the back of her neck gently, Sending a shiver through Atali's spine before she continued. " Tease... Anyway, After Malgus showed up, He took control of you somehow. Mako and Kalina figured out how and if I understand correctly, Your mother fixed it. She left a little while ago. She told Kalina to take you home when you were ready. "
" Home? Wait, Where are we? " Yumikaya spoke nervously before looking toward the nearby window as Atali spoke.
" Ilum. When you wouldn't wake up, We brought you here in the hopes that your mother would know what to do. Everyone else is waiting on the bridge. " Atali watched as Yumikaya stood and looked out of the view port. After a moment, Atali walked up behind Yumikaya and wrapped her arms around Yumikaya's waist before resting her head on Yumikaya's shoulder gently as she spoke. " Breathe Kaya. It will be okay. You don't have to rush into anything. "
" How do you always know... " Yumikaya sighed softly before Atali moved her hand to Yumikaya's chest and placed it over her heart as she spoke.
" You aren't the only one who can hear heartbeats. I feel your emotions Kaya. Just breathe. " Atali kissed Yumikaya's neck gently as Yumikaya took a slow, Deep breathe before Atali spoke again. " That's my girl. "
" I am so nervous Atali. But I really want to meet my family. " Yumikaya shivered slightly before Atali whispered in her ear.
" Don't ever hide your true feelings from me Kaya. " Atali smiled as tears quickly built up in Yumikaya's eyes and she cried softly for a few minutes before speaking.
" I am terrified Atali. I am so, So scared that my family won't want me. Especially when they learn about my animal tendencies. I'm just scared... " Yumikaya trembled as Atali held her and spoke.
" It's okay Kaya. It's okay to be scared. But we can do this together. You don't have to be alone in this. " Atali smiled as Yumikaya leant her head back against Atali's shoulder and breathed slowly as Atali hugged her lovingly.
" Thank you Atali. But I just... I don't know if I am ready for this... " Yumikaya sighed audibly before blushing as Atali kissed her cheek gently.
" It's alright. Let's go see Kalina and the others before you decide anything okay? " Atali smiled reassuringly as Yumikaya nodded before they left the medical room and walked to the bridge. As they entered, They saw Kalina, Deshla, Savii, Shae, Satele and Larkhan waiting for them. As they walked over, Kalina spoke calmly.
" When you feel ready, We can head to the surface. " Kalina smiled happily before Yumikaya looked up at her with fear in her eyes before Kalina spoke again.
" Before that, Meet me in the hangar. I have a present for you. " Kalina left the bridge as Yumikaya looked toward Atali worryingly before Atali nodded reassuringly. After leaving the bridge, Yumikaya and Atali walked to the hangar to find Kalina under a large cloth that was covering something. As the door closed, Kalina spoke.
" Just a sec, Just some fine tuning. " Kalina growled softly while mumbling several curse words in Mando'a before sliding out from under the cloth and standing slowly as she spoke again. " Okay, Ready? "
" As I will ever be for today... " Yumikaya sighed softly before Kalina touched her cheek gently and smiled.
" I know sweety. Baby steps okay? " Kalina smiled as Yumikaya nodded and sighed before Kalina stepped backed and gripped the cloth before pulling it away to reveal a custom built starfighter. As Yumikaya's face lit up with excitement, Kalina spoke calmly. " I wanted to show you sooner but then everything with Malgus and all the weirdness in the cave... But today felt right. I know how hard it is going to be and I wanted to at minimum, Make you smile a little. "
" Kalina... I... " Yumikaya bit her lip before rushing forward and hugging Kalina tightly as she spoke softly. " I don't know what to say... "
" That's alright sweety. I know everything you want to say. " Kalina stepped back and caressed Yumikaya's cheek gently before nudging her toward the starfighter gently as she continued speaking. " I took apart the broken and damaged fighters laying around so I could build you something special. She's small and fast but she packs some serious firepower and armour to match. Shields are damn good too. Why don't you take her for a spin? Work some stress off at blistering high speeds. " Kalina giggled as Yumikaya climbed into the cockpit and adjusted the seat before Kalina handed her a headset. " Want some practice targets? "
" Yeah. I definitely need to shoot something. " Yumikaya giggled sadly before the cockpit closed and Yumikaya powered up her starfighter as Atali spoke.
" It's going to be a long day. " Atali waved as Yumikaya took off but let her smile fade as Kalina spoke.
" Understatement. Let's just let her blow some old droids up for a while and go from there. " Kalina pressed several buttons on her datapad before several nearby repair faulty repair droids powered up and haphazardly floated out of the hanger.
After a few minutes of flying in random patterns and directions, Yumikaya heard Kalina through the headset.
" Alright kiddo, There's a few things I need you to test out before weapons. The readouts I'm getting look good but I want to be sure okay? " Kalina spoke softly as Yumikaya looked over the various switches and controls in the cockpit.
" Yeah... Okay. " Yumikaya spoke calmly but was obviously still unnerved before Kalina spoke again.
" Alright, Firstly, How are the controls? " Kalina's voice trembled slightly as she spoke, Clearly trying to keep her emotions in check as Yumikaya responded.
" Sensitive but smooth. The turns are a bit wide though for a fighter. " Yumikaya looked around the cockpit to make sure no lights were blinking as Kalina spoke.
" We can fine tune that later. Next up is the sublight motor. The red switch on the right side of the controls. " Kalina took a slow breathe as she waited for the readouts while Yumikaya looked toward the switch.
" It isn't going to explode is it? " Yumikaya spoke teasingly and giggled as an insulted gasp filled her ears before Kalina spoke.
" Oh, How dare you. " Kalina spoke softly before giggling as Yumikaya spoke.
" Couldn't resist. Alright, Testing now. " Yumikaya reached over and flicked the switch before gasping loudly as the ship hurtled forward at blinding speed before she laughed happily as she steered the ship while Kalina spoke.
" Explode. What a brat. Readouts are great. You can turn it off now. " Kalina spoke calmly before Yumikaya's laughter filled the headset. " Kaya? "
" This is so much fun! " Yumikaya laughed happily as her fighter zoomed around the empty void of space surrounding Ilum as Kalina giggled happily before speaking.
" Alright you little daredevil. Fly around for a while then we can test weapons. " Kalina giggled as Yumikaya made several loud noises expressing her joy and amusement.
Fifteen Minutes Later
" That was awesome. I am gonna use that everywhere. " Yumikaya giggled playfully as she switched off the sublight motor while Kalina spoke.
" Just be careful in orbit. Cliffs and trees are hard to avoid at sublight speed. Now then, Power the weapons. " Kalina spoke sternly as Yumikaya powered up the weapon systems. " Alright, Railgun first. Right control stick, Blue switch. "
" Right. " Yumikaya flicked the blue switch on her right control stick before looking up as the railgun barrel raised up slightly before aligning with the nose of the fighter as Kalina spoke.
" Alright, On the console you will see three green buttons. The sequence is left, Right, Middle. It will activate the augmented combat system. " Kalina waited as Yumikaya pressed the buttons in sequence before the console lit up. Several screens had weapons and ammunition counts on them, One screen had power levels, Another had hull integrity and a small projector on the top of the console lit up with an augmented reality aiming reticule. As the readouts came through, Kalina spoke again. " Perfect. Everything is green. Last step, Next to the green buttons is a yellow switch. That is your target tracking. It links with the aiming reticule to project little markers onto the cockpit glass so you can visualise where your targets are. "
Yumikaya flicked the yellow switch before the console beeped softly. After a few seconds, Several orange markers appeared on the cockpit glass near the hangar as Yumikaya spoke. " It's working. I see several orange markers near the hangar. "
" Excellent. Everything seems to be working. I'm moving the droids out of the ships area. Marking as targets. " Kalina pressed a few buttons on her datapad before the droids moved to a safe distance from the transport as the orange markers on the cockpit glass turned red.
" Targets marked. " Yumikaya steered her ship so that the markers were in the middle of the glass before Kalina spoke.
" Alright, The tracking system will lock onto the nearest target automatically once you are within firing range of the railgun. " Kalina took out a small holoprojector linked to the transports onboard combat systems and watched as Yumikaya's fighter flew closer to the droids. As she entered firing range, The railgun quickly moved, Aiming toward the nearest droid before Yumikaya pulled the trigger. As the railgun fired, Yumikaya gasped as the fighter shook from the recoil before looking toward the droid as the shot connected, Reducing it to little more than random fragments as Kalina spoke again.
" Perfect shot. Recoil dampeners need some tuning but otherwise the railgun is working perfectly. Switch it off and use the pink switch below it. That's your torpedoes. " Kalina waited as Yumikaya disarmed the railgun, Causing it to lower before locking into position as she flicked the pink switch, Causing the torpedoes to arm before firing a pair of torpedoes at one of the repair droids. As it exploded, Kalina spoke calmly.
" Perfect. Tracking is good. Alright, The next is your cluster missiles. Below the pink switch is a purple switch. " Kalina waited as the torpedoes disarmed and the missiles armed. After locking onto one of the few remaining repair droids, Yumikaya fired a missile. Before hitting the droid, The missile casing popped open and fired several smaller missiles, Causing a string of explosions around the droid, Leaving it as little more than shredded metal and random splinters as Kalina spoke. " Excellent. Lastly, The quad laser cannons. Black switch on the left control stick. "
" Makes it easier to remember. Blasters on the left, Boomsticks on the right. " Yumikaya giggled softly as Kalina laughed and spoke.
" True. Now then, Power it up and blast the last two droids. " Kalina waited quietly as Yumikaya powered up the laser cannons before opening fire, Decimating the two remaining droids with a series of slow, Powerful blasts. As Yumikaya powered down the weapons, Kalina spoke again.
" I tested your mine dispersal system earlier with dummy mines so I know it works perfectly. Bring her into the hangar so I can fine tune and run diagnostics. " Kalina waited as Yumikaya flew her fighter into the hangar and landed as Kalina walked over and spoke calmly. " So, All in all, What do you think? "
" Wizard. " Yumikaya smiled before climbing out of the cockpit and speaking. " Flying gave me time to think. I am not ready. To meet my family I mean. I need more time and I need to go back to Alderaan. Alone. "
" If that is what you need then so be it. Give me a few days to get your fighter just right and then you can go. No one will follow you. " Kalina smiled as Yumikaya sighed softly and walked over to Atali before speaking.
" Not even you Atali. I must do this alone. " Yumikaya looked into Atali's eyes pleadingly before Atali kissed her gently and spoke.
" Though my heart will ache for you, I will respect your choice. I'll be waiting for you to return. " Atali smiled reassuringly as Yumikaya nodded and left the hangar.
Six Days Later
" Alright, Your fighter is all set. I fixed the steering issues so now she handles smoother and faster than any fighter I've seen. The recoil dampeners are fixed too. The railgun won't shake the cockpit to pieces again. I also tweaked the wings and engines. You can now pivot the wings up and down separately. It will let you do a complete three hundred and sixty degree turn without losing speed or damaging the fighter. It might shake you up a bit though. " Kalina smiled as Yumikaya climbed into her fighter and spoke.
" Thank you for this Kalina. For everything. " Yumikaya smiled before Kalina walked over and caressed her cheek lovingly as she spoke.
" There is nothing I wouldn't do for you sweetheart. If you need anything, Anytime, You call me and I will be there. I will bring all of my strength and that of our clan to aid you. " Kalina smiled sweetly as Yumikaya sniffled softly and spoke.
" This is the Way. " Yumikaya smiled brightly before Kalina giggled and kissed her head gently.
" This is the Way. Be safe sweetheart. " Kalina caressed Yumikaya's cheek gently before stepping back and watching as Yumikaya took off and left the hangar before entering hyperspace.
Eight Days Later
After sleeping through hyperspace, Yumikaya yawned as she arrived at Alderaan. After landing her fighter in the hangar bay, Yumikaya put on her helmet and walked to the local covert. As she entered, The covert went silent before the Mandalorian who had her hunt the Bolraida walked out of the back room and spoke.
" For a Foundling, That armour suits you rather well. Ready for that request? " The Mandalorian waited as Yumikaya removed her helmet, Causing the other Mandalorians to whisper amongst themselves about her appearance as she spoke.
" I have been prey. Hunted relentlessly and taken prisoner. Now I am the hunter. Remade in the caves here on Alderaan. But I am still untested. Unprepared for the life of a Mandalorian. I am here to ask you to prepare me for what lies ahead. " Yumikaya spoke with confidence and respect before the Mandalorian from the back room spoke with a grin.
" Good. I am Karek Ordo. Leader of Clan Ordo. How old are you? " Karek spoke calmly before Yumikaya spoke softly.
" I... Actually I'm not entirely sure. I stopped keeping track of my age a while ago. I also don't honestly know when my birthday is but my guardian, Kalina, Will know. " Yumikaya smiled before Karek spoke again.
" Then it falls to your guardian to perform the Verd'goten. However, We can train you. To start, You will join the other Foundlings tomorrow morning for combat training. You have already been taught hand to hand combat and as my warriors tell me, Basic training in Teräs Käsi. We once had very particular training regimes, But now we are trained by our parents or clan veterans. If a veteran chooses to make you their apprentice, You will learn the way they were taught. You may stay with the other Foundlings in the camp outside the city if you wish. " Karek left as Yumikaya nodded before putting on her helmet and leaving the covert.
The Next Day
After waking up and stretching out, Yumikaya put on her armour and jumped down from the tree she had slept in as the other Foundlings stepped out of their tents before noticing Karek and the other Mandalorians from the covert walking toward the camp. After the others walked to the side and formed a large square, Karek spoke calmly.
" Today, You will face each other in hand to hand combat. Win or lose, You will all learn what it is to be both hunter and prey. Let us start with our more renowned Foundlings. " Karek stepped aside as the Foundlings walked into the square formed by the rest of the covert.
An Hour Later
" Alright. Two foundlings left. Foundling Vyrena and Foundling Yumikaya. Step forward. " Karek waited as Yumikaya and Vyrena walked to the centre and waited as Karek spoke again. " The goal is simple. Force your opponent to yield. Begin when you are ready. "
Yumikaya took a slow breathe before entering a combat stance as Vyrena quickly darted forward. As Yumikaya motioned to block, Vyrena sidestepped and spun, Slamming a hard kick to the side of Yumikaya's helmet, Forcing her to stumble sideways before recovering and blocking as Vyrena threw a punch toward her stomach, As she stepped away, Yumikaya leant back and vaulted, Landing a kick to Vyrena's bottom jaw, Knocking her helmet away and causing Vyrena to stumble back with an irritated look on her face.
As Yumikaya removed her helmet and dropped it, She got a good look at Vyrena. She appeared to be the same age as Yumikaya, Had jet black hair that was braided behind her head, Lightly tanned skin with freckles over her cheeks and nose with a small scar over her left eyebrow. Her eyes were a piercing shade of jade as Yumikaya sighed and entered her combat stance again. After a moment, Vyrena growled loudly before charging forward as Yumikaya motioned to dodge. Before she could move, Vyrena flipped her onto her back and pinned her arms as she squeezed her throat between her thighs tightly, Causing Yumikaya to struggle for breath.
After a few moments of struggling, Yumikaya felt light headed before tapping Vyrena's leg gently, Causing her to let go. As Yumikaya breathed and coughed heavily, Vyrena walked away as Karek spoke.
" Alright. The Foundlings have fought the best they can. If there is a veteran here that would take an apprentice, Speak up.
