Later that night
"Alright, Gligar says the coast is clear." Ash said, as the scorpion bat flew into the cellar from an open window.
"Are you sure about this Ash, this isn't some regular fight." Sam said.
"I made a promise, and I intend to keep it." Ash said sure of himself.
"Wait, at least take this." Kurtis said, holding out a new Pokeball. "I designed it based on the one you gave me, try it out on Totodile."
"Alright, Lure Ball, go!" Ash said, tossing the light blue Pokeball at Totodile, striking his snout before catching instantly. "That, was incredible!" Ash exclaimed. "I mean it's so much better than the one earlier, wait sorry I didn't mean it like that."
"No, I get what you meant, thanks for the compliment." Kurtis said. "Now come on let's go stop them."
"Kurtis, you're tagging along?" Sam asked in surprise.
"If they're kidnapping the Pokemon, we should all help." Kurtis said a bit unsure of himself in comparison to the others, but still willing to try.
"Alright, let's go, just be quiet and stick close." Ash said, exiting the cellar.
Back in the woods
"So how are we going to find these masked men?" Kurtis asked quietly.
"Not sure, I just happened into the blue masked guy last time." Ash responded. "Sam, any ideas?"
"They've been after rare Pokemon in the past." Sam said.
"Pikachu, are you thinking what I'm thinking?" Ash asked.
5 minutes later Pikachu was running through the woods on his own, with Gligar watching from overhead.
"Haha!" The man in the golden mask helmet said, prepping a net and launching it at Pikachu.
"Gar!" Gligar said, knocking the net away.
"A Gligar too, this job just got a lot more interesting." The Golden Masked Man said, pressing buttons on a controller as two Pokemon came out, both large, one a shiny red, and the other a cold green. "Get them."
Gligar swooped back around, picking up Pikachu and flying off, knowing this was a part of the plan.
"Charmeleon use Flamethrower!"
"Totodile use Water Gun!"
Ash and Sam came out from hiding, attacking the two larger pursuing Pokemon.
"Go, free the Pokemon, I'll take care of this!" Ash said, grabbing another Pokeball.
"Right!" Sam said, rushing towards the cages as the Golden Masked Man walked forward.
"Tyranitar use Crunch. Scizor use Metal Claw." The Golden Masked man said.
"Totodile use Water Gun! Houndour use Ember!" Ash called out, as Gligar came back around with Pikachu.
Totodile and Houndour blocked the two larger Pokémon's attacks, keeping them at bay.
"Pikachu use Thunder!" Ash called out.
Pikachu sent out a massive blast of electricity at the two Pokemon causing them to pause, as Ash noticed a gleam around their necks.
"Gligar see those collars, hit them with a Poison Sting!" Ash called out.
Gligar struck the collars with his stinger, breaking them free from the controller.
"Do you honestly believe that I only controlled them." The Golden Masked man said.
"Did," Sam said, rushing over with Charmeleon. "We just released all of your Pokemon."
"They still have their collars, you just unleashed an army!" The Golden Masked Man said.
"Not if we removed the collars." Kurtis said, turns out mechanisms on them were similar to those of Pokeballs.
"You failed me for the last time." Another voice said, the man in the blue mask said, walking over with a slight limp. "Ariados use Spider Web."
Webs launched out, trapping everyone but Ash, Sam, and their Pokemon.
"Now as for you two." The Masked Man said, looking at the two. "You, have been a thorn in my side for far too long." He said, looking at Sam. "Ariados use Psychic."
Charmeleon and Sam were lifted into the air as the Masked Man turned towards Ash and his Pokemon.
"As for you, rare Pokemon galore, and I'm still not sure how it is you got here, but if I had to guess it is another rare and powerful Pokemon." The Masked Man said. "Now hand them all over and I'll think about releasing your friends."
"Ash, don't do it, your promise!" Kurtis said, from under the webs.
"I have to, I can't let you two get hurt because of what I did." Ash said, as a blue glow came rushing out into the woods.
"What is that thing?!" The Golden Masked Man exclaimed.
"Help." Ash said, as it caused a distraction. "Pikachu use Thunderbolt! Houndour, Totodile use Bite! Gligar break the webs holding Kurtis!"
As the blue mysterious creature caused a distraction, Pikachu zapped Ariados freeing Sam and Charmeleon, Gligar freed Kurtis as Totodile and Houndour attacked the Masked Man's leg.
"Now what?" Kurtis asked.
"Run and get help. I've got this." Ash said, turning his attention to the two masked men.
"You think you've won, you think this is over!" The Masked Man cackled. "No matter where you go, no matter how long it takes, you will pay for this!"
"Yeah yeah, you'll get your revenge if it's the last thing you do." Ash sighed. "Pikachu, let's send them flying. Use Thunder!"
The Masked Man sent out a Pokemon at the last moment, being whisked away alongside his Ariados only leaving the golden masked man behind.
"It's still you, isn't it." Ash said, as the blue glow walked by him. "Not a past or future version, you came with me or exist here too."
The creature nodded.
"And these two I needed to help stop them, didn't I?" Ash asked.
The creature nodded again.
"Is it time to go home?" Ash asked.
The Creature nodded, leading Ash back to the shrine.
"Alright Celebi, it's time to go home." Ash said, opening the GS Ball.
'Safe, safe, safe!' Celebi chirped, flying around Ash and his Pokemon.
"Everyone ready?" Ash asked, seeing Pikachu and his Johto Pokemon around him, all four nodding. "Alright, let's head home."
The world swirled around the group, bringing them back to present day.
"I don't know who those two were, or who Sam and Kurtis ended up becoming, I just hope that they lived a safe life. It's not like I'll ever see that man in the blue mask again, right?" Ash asked, returning his Pokemon to their Pokeballs.
'Safe, safe, safe.' Celebi continued chirping.
"You'll be alright here Celebi?" Ash asked, grabbing the GS Ball. "No need for this anymore, right?"
'Thank you Ash!' Celebi said, floating around him.
"I'll take this back to Kurt, he'll keep it safe, and you'll be safe without us now that the Masked Men are long gone.
Elsewhere in Johto
"Sir, we have troubling news about our most recent mission for collecting Pokemon." A Masked Team Rocket member said.
"You know my rules about bad news." A man in a black cloak with a blue mask said, walking over with a cane to help his limp.
"Our efforts were thwarted by this boy and his Pikachu." The Masked Rocket grunt said, showing a picture of Ash and Pikachu.
"You're still the same, after all this time, there's only one way that's possible. We need to find the shrine, begin your search Beta Squad!" The Masked Man commanded.
Author's Note
And there we have it the GS Ball sequence is finished, and decades quicker than the anime is taking. As for the Masked Man, who is he and what is his goal, only time will tell.
