Chapter Ten

Mia looked at the boys, she just told them about her first year at Hogwarts and she still had five and half more to go. After taking a quick drink of water she started again, "Okay boys, that was my first year, now on to the second. I can't tell you much due to being inactive for a few months, but I will tell you what I remember, that summer I wrote to James but didn't get a response not thinking much about it I went about my summer. When it was time to get my second year books there was a full set of books written by a bloke named Lockhart on there; at first, I thought maybe the teacher for the year was a fan.

"It turned out that Lockhart was going to be our Second year defense teacher and of course being one of those girls who gains a crush on a Teacher, I had one on Lockhart. I was amazed by everything I had read that he had done, little did I know he was a fraud and didn't do a single thing he wrote about.

"I should have seen the signs during the first class when he left a bunch of second years to deal with Cornish Pixies, poor Frank he was stuck on the chandelier in the middle of the classroom. This is back before he grew his backbone and was a pudgy little boy, anyways by the time we got the Pixie's under control and Frank back on his two feet it was time for another class.

"By the time Halloween rolled around we really didn't learn anything in his class, it was that night when everything changed at the school. Ron, James, and I were heading back towards the Great Hall hoping to catch some of the Feast after having been at Sir Nicholas's Death Day party, when we saw Mrs. Norris the caretakers cat frozen stiff surrounded by a pool of water coming from the girls bathroom nearby. Of course, James, being a trouble magnet automatically got blamed for it, of course I believe he was singled out due to the fact his father and three friends used to terrorize the school when they went back in the 70's.

"Thankfully the Headmaster believed us and just sent us away along with the rest of the school back to our dorms for the night. We later learned that the secret Chamber of Salazar Slytherin had been reopened, of course we didn't know what that meant. It became a mystery us that we needed to solve, so it became our latest quest. We dug around looking for anything that could tell us about the Chamber and what secrets it held, it took me getting petrified before I could tell the boys what I had found for them to realize that I was on to something.

"I was coming back from the library with an older student and looking around the corners with a handheld pocket mirror which I had borrowed from the older girl that was with me. Unlucky for us we were caught in the gaze of a giant snake called a Basilisk stopped us dead in our tracks, the mirror saved us from certain death. The Basilisk liked to kill it's victims with just one look but if you happen to look at it through lets say a mirror your only petrified until you can be revived.

"It turned out the person controlling the Basilisk was also being controlled by a diary that held a soul shard of a young Dark Wizard named Tom Riddle and the person being controlled was Ginny Weasley, Ron's little sister and only girl in the family. Again, with his stupid knack for saving people, James took it upon himself to save her once he found out the Defense Teacher was a total fraud. He found out that the entrance to the Chamber was hidden in a girls lavatory that was being Haunted by the ghost of a young girl and one of the Basilisk's first victims when it was opened the last time.

"James, Ron, and Professor Lockhart all went down into the chamber, then the Professor tried using Ron's broken wand to take away their memories but instead wiped his own when the spell backfired on him. James had no choice but to leave them behind when he went to save Ginny, when he reached her, she was barely clinging to life. You see the soul shard was slowly sucking young Miss Weasley dry, and the form of Tom Riddle was gaining more and more lifelike features.

"It was during the monolog and yes villains love to monolog like do in the movies, that James found out that he was the soul shard of the young version of the man that killed his parents. While James was distracted the soul shard called upon the Basilisk to come and kill off both Ginny and James, James at first run to try to hide but then a Phoenix called Fawkes came flying with the sorting hat. While not quite sure what to do with a hat against the Basilisk, he figured it was needed somehow and he was right.

"A sword with a ruby hilt materialized in the hat as it laid on the ground next to James, then Fawkes took out the eyes of the Basilisk to give James a chance to fight back. And fight back he did, he finally took down the basilisk and almost died from being bitten by the giant snake, of course he still had to deal with the soul shard that was leeching the life out of Ginny.

"Without a second thought he stabbed the diary with the tooth from the basilisk that was left in his arm, as Ginny began to stir, he was fading fast himself from the poison from the snake. Just then Fawkes cried into his wound and began to heal it with the healing properties from his tears, James himself was starting to feel better. Of course, saving Miss Weasley's life did nothing for her infatuation of him, for years she told anyone who would listen that she was going to marry James and live happily ever after.

"Once they reached the surface the headmaster had returned to the school and was about to lead a rescue party himself to retrieve either three students or their bodies. James was kept in the infirmary until he was well enough to attend the outgoing feast with Ron and the other students, I was woken up just in time to join them. That concludes my second year in which I made a fool out of myself by choosing the wrong crush, now onto my third year.

"The summer of our third year I gained a familiar by the name of Crookshanks, he was half-kneazle with a squished face that only a mother could love, and I fell in love with the little guy. I should have known that Ron was untrustworthy when Crookshanks didn't go near him if at all, now he loved getting head scratches from other's in the common room and around the school but not Ron. He also loved anyone who would sneak him bacon in the mornings during breakfast, that year we didn't have crazy talking diaries to deal with, oh no that would have been a blessing for what was to come.

"A mass murderer had escaped an unescapable Prison called Azkaban and was on the hunt for James or at least is what everyone thought including the three of us. You see we had been told that the murderer that was after James was the one to rat his parents out to the Dark Lord and was looking for him to finish the job. We spent the year dealing with Hippogriff's and other exotic creatures that our Magical Creature could find for us, we also were able to take extra classes of ur choosing that year.

"Me being the know it all bookworm I was known to be, signed up for all the classes and instead of being told that it was too many I was given a time turner to get back and forth from my classes. A time turner in the wrong hands is a bad thing so to give one to an underage Witch who was still learning her magic was a recipe for disaster, but I used it for good instead of evil. One of the classes I took was divination and it was ran by a drunk hack who only ever had three good vision's that had come true, I also was taking Muggle studies just to see what the Wizarding World thought of Muggles and just like divination it was a big joke.

"They made the muggles seem like a freak show, hell they didn't talk about how we put a man on the moon or the invention of the automobile. I was glad to have dropped the class when I did or I would have lost my mind, now the other two classes I had signed up for were Arithmancy and the study of Ancient Ruins. I enjoyed those classes a lot more than I thought I would, it was during a Magical Creature class that the arrogant toe rag Malfoy got hurt and of course he said his famous words 'Wait till my father hears about this.'

"I never wanted to hit someone so bad as I did Malfoy and by the end of the year I did, it was so satisfying to do so. We had hoped for a normal Halloween that year but that wasn't in the cards for us, it seemed the Mass murderer had found his way into the school and was hunting James, again that's what we were led to believe. So, we spent the night in sleeping bags in the Great Hall like one big camp sleepover, we couldn't help but wonder why James was being targeted by a Mass Murderer to begin with, but we found out at the end of the year.

"We had a decent Dark Arts Professor that year, only thing was that he was absent a lot after a full moon. It took our Potions Professor to all but tell his secret for me to figure out he was a werewolf, yes, the headmaster had hired a werewolf to teach a bunch of young students Defense. By the end of the year, we found out that the Mass Murderer was James's godfather and best friend to his father back in school, and that betrayal was the hardest to overcome. We also almost lost Buckbeak the hippogriff and we found Ron's pet rat that he thought Crookshanks had eaten.

"We were on our way back to the school when out of nowhere this big black dog came and dragged Ron underneath the dangerous tree that was planted on school grounds. James and I followed just to come face to face with the Murderer himself, of course I stood in front of James saying that if he wanted to kill him, he would have to kill me first. The Murderer who we later found out was innocent, just laughed saying that only one would die that night, just as we were about to ask what he meant by that our Defense teacher showed up.

"The murderer went on to tell our teacher about the switch and how it seemed like the perfect prank, how nobody would think of their friend Peter of being the secret keeper and would come after him instead. But it turned out Peter was a traitor to all of them and sold out James and his family to the Dark Lord, and that's why he struck on Halloween at their most vulnerable. Sirius knew right away something was wrong when he couldn't find Peter at the safe house, they had set up for him, he ran straight to his friends home in hopes of not being too late, but he was.

"All that was left was a broken home and a crying toddler, both James's parents lay dead His father at the foot of the stairs leading up and his mother on the floor of the nursery. Instead of taking James somewhere safe and raise him as his own, he handed James off to Hagrid and went after the traitor. It turned out that Ron's rat really was an animagus in disguise and was living a happy fat life with the Weasley's while Sirius rotted in Prison for crimes he didn't commit.

"Instead of saving us the heartache and killing him, James convinced them to let us bring him back up to the school to secure Sirius a trial and hopefully his freedom as well. So we bound up Peter and begone the long trip back up to the school with our defense teacher leading the way, what we didn't except for it was to be a full moon and him forgetting to take his potion that kept him sane during the change. So, while we were trying to get away from a mad werewolf, Peter got away from us.

"While we were in the infirmary Professor Dumbledore came in and said she knew what to do and just maybe more than one life would be spared that night. So, I grabbed James and used my time turner to go back several hours, I got to watch myself punch Draco in his nose and him run off with his tail between his legs. I saw Ron find his rat and then dragged underneath the tree; we waited on bated breath until our defense teacher turned.

"I knew that werewolves had the same pack mentality as their counterparts, so I howled my best howl in hopes of distracting it from are other selves. It worked a little to well, he came after us instead; we then hid in the Forbidden Forest that was Forbidden due to the dark creatures it held with in it. Like the spiders the size of a small car or the centaurs who would rather shoot first then ask questions later.

"By the time the sand ran out on my time turner, we not only saved James from soul sucking demons called Dementors but also his godfather who had promised James a chance to live with him. That was of course before he had to go back on the run as a fugitive, which broke James's heart. He was looking forward to living with one of the last remaining links to his parents, instead he was having to spend another summer with his aunt and Uncle.

"That boys concludes my third year, next up is my fourth and the year I call my butterfly transformation." Mia said as she sat down across from the boys. "Any question's so far?" she asked before continuing on with her story.
