Chapter Thirteen
Little did they know that a certain Murader was also reading the Quibbler and nearly spit his tea all over when he saw the ad for the set of Magical twins. He figured the lost ones were Harry, Luna, Neville, and Hermione so that meant the magical Twins must be the Weasley twins. Which meant they were close to a Wizarding City in order to send the Owl post to Xeno, the wording didn't sound like anything Hermione would write with hers being more proper. Which left one of the other three, but which one was a mystery; he needed to leave his own ad and see if anyone shows, he just needs to know Harry is safe.
Doesn't need to know anything else just that he is safe and happy, once he knows that he will be happy with occasional visits at the Fireside Tavern. With Dora due in the next couple of months, he needed to get his ad sent out right away; he went into his and Dora's room and dug around for some wizarding currency both British and American that he covered all his bases. He then went to find Dora and tell her of his plan, it wasn't like he was asking permission after all he just wanted to keep her informed; they spent many of nights talking about Harry and what he was like as a baby.
After talking things over with Dora, he left to head towards Wizarding Boston, it was one of the few times he was glad Lilly taught the Murader's how to drive muggle vehicles. It took him about two hours to drive the distance between where he lived and Wizarding Boston, he parked his truck two doors down from the Mystical Shop that was the entrance to wizarding Boston as well. Going in he looked around for the clues which would give him access to the entrance in the back of the store.
To the Muggles the back room was off limits, there was a notice me not charm surrounding the back room, if a muggle was to try and go through that entrance without knowing the weekly code word they would be directed right back to the front of the store. It took him about two minutes to decipher the code word and he went through the back with no issues, due to being a werewolf his hearing, sight, and smell was enhanced.
So, he was always on high alert when walking down the Ally towards the Owl Post, once inside he ordered the fastest Owl that could travel to England without any problems. Normally he would have used Hedwig, but she was to noticeable and would draw unwanted attention to Xeno, that meant he was resigned to using an Owl Post to deliver his letter to the Editor of the Quibbler. After all it would look just another customer of the Quibbler writing their monthly decodes to the coded messages, he started putting in the paper since Luna left.
He quickly wrote a letter to go with the ad and placed the right amount of gallons in the coin pouch and tied the letter to the owl before it took off. Since he was in town, he might as well buy some more Owl treats for Hedwig who will not be happy not being used for this important task. If he didn't know better, he would swear she had Lilly's temperament, she was just as stubborn as Lilly once was; it was times like this that made him miss her and James the most.
After finishing up his errands he figured he would grab dinner from the Fireside Tavern and bring it home to the others, giving Dora and her mom a break from cooking dinner. If only he had waited around a bit longer and he would have ran into Luna at the Apothecary buying her monthly supplies of healing Potions and their monthly edition of the Quibbler. The only reason she was there by herself is because Mia was on a date, Frank was still in New York and James was that the University library studying for his latest exam.
Pandora had just missed Mooney by ten minutes, he had just walked out of the Mystical Shop when she stepped off the bus. By the she reached the door of the shop, he was already making his through traffic and on his way home to appease a very disgruntled Owl. Pandora's first stop was the Pet Shop to pick up some more treats for Morgain, then it was on her way to the Apothecary to pick up her month Potion's order and finally the newspaper stand to grab the latest copy of the Quibbler.
She knew that it was going to this edition that her ad was going to posted, which means the next edition would have their response. What she didn't foresee was the ad coming from Remus, after all she wasn't paying attention to what he was doing, she just assumed he was doing fine and didn't read the Quibbler.
Once she was done with her errands, she left the shop and caught the next bus to South Boston. The time they would need the Potion's was slowly coming around the corner and just hoped she has enough stocked. Being a partial seer had its drawbacks; she couldn't always see what was going to happen next and she was left blindsided by it. On the other hand, she loved it cause it helped her count the days till she met her destiny, she still didn't know what he looked like, but one thing was for sure, he was her exact match, and she couldn't be happier about it.
She knew that with her exact match he would cherish her and her sporadic visions, he would understand when talked about creatures she knew existed but could never find on her own. Maybe he would be willing to help her look for them as a date or a courtship; she didn't want a traditional courtship that was Mia's thing not her's. Her perfect courtship involved traveling the world and looking for exotic animals they only knew about it, and her perfect match was going to help her along the way. She just had to meet him first after all, how could he be her perfect match if they hadn't met yet.
Mia's perfect match was Murphy the soft spoken Irish man who knew too many languages and liked to try to drink his brother and their friend Rocco under the bar top every night. He loved his Ma and was a hardcore Catholic who went to mass every morning and twice on Sunday, he loved the way Mia's eyes would light up when talking about her favorite book or the movie they had just seen.
How she smiled more when he was around, her little black kitten Morgain, and the way she smelled of fresh cut Calla Lillies on a rainy day. How she fit perfectly in the crook of his arm when they were cuddling, how she treated Conor with respect and sometimes would scold them both for doing something absolutely stupid. How she could manage Rocco and not get mad at his feeble attempts of flirting, how she always knew who needed to be cut off for the night.
He loved how Doc took to her right of way claiming her as the granddaughter he never had, how the old man hardly ever stuttered around her. He was already in love with her, these little things wanted him to ask her to marry him, he knew he would have to speak to James since they were joined at the hip like he was with Conor only difference they weren't twins or even blood related. Which showed him you didn't need be blood to be family, family was what you made it to be and with who you wanted.
He also knew that James was a package deal with Mia, he wouldn't leave her side no matter what, which meant if he were to take Mia home to Ireland to live James would be right behind her. He didn't mind because Conor would be there too, just like James Conor would never leave his brother's side, they had a plan to die on the same day and be buried next to each other alongside their wives with room for whatever children that wanted to be buried nearby. If Mia was going to be his wife, he needed to find the perfect ring to propose with, so he went to talk to James for both permission to marry Mia and help find the perfect ring.
He found James sitting on the roof of their building looking up at the night sky, "Did Mia ever tell you that we once knew every star in the sky or that my God father was name for the dog Star? Somehow being up here brings me closer to him, as if I could reach out and touch him again, sometimes I wonder if he would be proud of how I turned out. Would he be proud I stuck it to Dumbledore and left the Wizarding World behind or would he call me a coward for running in the first place? I have so many questions and not enough answers, and I can't get the answers I am looking for due to Sirius being gone and the last remaining link to parents is in hiding as well. Enough of this melancholy, what is it you need Murphy?" James asked.
"It's okay to be melancholy every once in a while, anyways what I need is your permission to marry Mia and also your help finding the perfect ring. I want to propose during the night of Romeo and Juliet in the park, I believe it would be the opportunity to propose." Murphy said as he sat down next to James.
"I was waiting for this to day to happen, I have the perfect ring. It belonged to my grandmother on my mom's side of the family, it was just another reason for my aunt to hate my mom. All she got when their mother died was the house I grew up in, the house that holds no good memories for me. It was their grandmother's house beforehand, then was left to my grandmother who in turn left it to Aunt Petunia; my mother got all the jewelry that had been passed down from mother to daughter over the generations. I found it when I was cleaning out my vault, I also have her engagement ring and both wedding bands. Those I plan to use someday when I finally find someone worthy of marrying but my grandmother's ring is perfect for Mia, and I am sure my mother would be glad to have her wear it." James said as he stood up to go dig around for the ring.
Murphy was glad for James, without him he would be totally loss as to what kind of ring to get Mia, but something old fashioned seemed perfect for her. It took James all of five minutes to find the ring he put in the same box as his mothers, something told him that he was going to need it someday soon. The ring itself was a 1 3/8 ct Blue Halo ring set in 14k White Gold, James was right it was perfect Mia; his grandfather sure had great taste in jewelry.
Now all he had to do was plan the perfect picnic dinner in the park, something that would sweep her off her feet. That was phase two of asking Mia to marry him, phase one was James permission and to find the perfect ring. Okay maybe phase three, he still needed to talk to his Ma about Mia and wanting to marry her, even bringing her back to Ireland to live someday. That phone call was something for another day, first he needed to talk Conor about him proposing to Mia; not that it was going to be a problem or anything he just wanted him to be prepared.
He shook James's hand and left to go meet up with Conor at the Pub and walk his soon-to-be fiancée home.
James was on cloud nine, his sister of his soul was about to get engaged to Murphy, and to be honest he was a better choice that Viktor and Ron. Viktor would expect her to put up with Quidditch groupies not to mention all the injuries he inflicted on himself when doing dangerous stunts on his broom; while Ron would break her soul by turning her into a broodmare, an extension of his mother popping out a quidditch team of his own. He would be working some mediocre low paying job in the Ministry and paying around with girls like Lavender Brown, thinking he could have his cake and eat too. That's why those two would have never worked out, Mia was too smart for the likes of Ron and even the likes of Viktor. Nobody was her equal intelligence until she met the ever so quiet Murphy MacManus, he may not seem like it but both he and his twin have a high IQ.
Something that is out of place in a Meat Packing plant, but it's what he wanted to do and who was James to stand in his way. Just like if he took Mia to Ireland to live, he would be following right behind but wouldn't stop her from leaving. He needed Mia in his life like he needed air to breathe, she was the only person who could keep him sane; she was his sister in all but blood. He knew that his mother would have taken her under wing and taught her everything she knew, since they were both muggleborn thrown into the world of magic without a safety net. Excepted to walk across the thin wire while balancing a pole, knowing that if they fell it would be a quick and sudden death.
Even before they left she excepted to perform all these highwire tricks with the knowledge of knowing if she fell, she would be falling to her death.
