Chapter 13: The Ruby's true potential
In the Sherbert Land, the group was defeated by the Koopa Brothers. However, Annie was knocked into the frozen lake. Leo slowly wakes up after being tossed down. He moves his head, groaning in pain from the beating he took.
"Annie?" He called out to his sister, but there's no response from her.
"Annie?!" He called out again but no response. He gets up and looks to see a hole in the frozen lake. He heads towards it, despite being hurt from the battle. Once he gets them, Leo falls to his hand and knees and looks at the water.
"Annie!!" He shouted out but no response.
Beneath the surface, Annie struggles to get to the surface but the cold water, and what's worse, she loses her Super Bell power up. Then she starts loosing strength and running out of air. Annie's vision starts to turn black.
"Annie!!"
Annie can hear a voice from the surface.
Back on top, Leo keeps calling out to her but there is no response. Fearing that death has claimed his sister, Leo gets up and pulls out his first power up: Ice Flower.
"Give me strength." He said as he absorbs the flower.
An explosion of cold wind and ice blasts from the ground and around Leo.
Leo has changed colors like the snow outfit turn to blue and white. Leo's hair changes color from red to white and his eyes change to dark blue.
With determination, Leo jumps in the air, doing a few flips before diving head first into the ice cold water.
Swimming in the cold, Leo moves with his arms and legs while descending down. Not far, Annie keeps sinking down as she loses consciousness. Ice begins to form on her body.
Lucky for Leo, the ice flower can protect him from the cold weather or water. When he sees his sister, he is horrified to see Annie slowly beginning to turn frozen.
Leo swims quickly to reach for Annie as time is running out for her. The ice slowly covers Annie's upper legs and heading for her chest.
Leo gets close and reaches out to take Annie's hand.
Meanwhile back in the surface, Mario, Luigi, Toad, and Toadette got up after their defeat.
"Those Koopa Brothers! They got so lucky!" Mario said with anger.
"Next time they won't be!" Toad said in agreement!
Luigi looks around the snow field.
"Where's Leo and Annie?" He asks.
Toadette looks around the frozen lake before seeing the open part.
"Over here!" She shouted as she and the others head there.
They stop to fund out what is happening.
"Leo! Annie!!" Mario shouted.
"Oh man! They got to get out of there!" Toad said.
Then emerging from the icy water is Ice Leo with a nearly frozen Annie.
"Leo! Annie!" Mario said.
"Let's get out of here!" Leo said as he carry his sister bridal style.
Mario and the others head for the flagpole, bring it down and move on to the next area.
Meanwhile at Bowser's castle, Junior and his father are speaking with Big Jet when the Koopa Brothers return.
"Yo King Bowser! We just put the smackdown on Mario and his losers." Red said.
["That's take care of them. What about June? I thought have plans for her] Big Jet asks.
"Not to worry, my son is taking care of that." Bowser said.
At the top of the tower, June sits when the cell door opens and sees Junior with Kamek.
"Good day my little flower." Junior said
"I'm not your flower!" June said.
"Yeah! She's not yours. She belongs to someone else!" Quincy said.
"We'll see about that." Junior said before turning to Kamek, "Kamek?"
The Wizard waves his wand and the ruby necklace that June is wearing begins to glow. Suddenly, June clenching in pain before dropping to the floor.
"JUNE!" Peach, Quincy, and Rocket screamed in horror as the necklace continues to hurt June. Then the pain stops and June slowly gets up.
"No more." She said while whimpering.
"Hehehe. You don't realize the Necklace i gave you. Whoever wears it, is controlled by a Wizard." Junior said
"And that Wizard is me." Kamek said.
"You monster!" Peach said angrily.
"What is that you want?" June asks.
"All you have to do is answer one simple question: Will you marry me?" Junior asks.
June was shocked to hear what Bowser's son ask. Junior wants June to marry him.
"June! Don't say anything!" Peach said
"Shut your mouth!" Kamek said as he waves his wand and all three prisoners are trapped in a sphere.
"Guys!" June said but Kamek waves the wand and necklace forces June to the ground once more.
"Ah ah ah. I'm giving you one more chance. Will you marry me?" Junior asks.
June looks and sees his friends in jeopardy before shutting her eyes. She wants to say no, but with her friends on the ropes, she makes a decision.
"Yes..."
"Yes what?"
"Yes I will marry you. Just let them go." June said with a sad look.
"That's what I thought. Kamek, I will informed my father and Big Jet about this." Junior said.
"You got it." Kamek said.
As soon as they leave, June starts crying. The sphere is down allowing Peach, Quincy, and Rocket approach her.
"Guys, I'm so sorry. I don't know what to do." June said
"I know, but we will do everything we can to stall this wedding. Just until Leo gets here." Peach said.
"Yeah, we believe in you, June" Quincy added.
"I will always be with you." Rocket said.
"Leo... please hurry." June said in prayer hoping Leo will save her.
Back with Leo and the others...
"Breathe, Annie! Breathe!" Leo said as he performs CPR to Annie.
After saving Annie, Mario and the others escape the snow land and on to an unknown area but they are very close to Bowser's Kingdom. Annie had lost consciousness from the frozen water.
"Come on, Annie! Please! Wake-up!" Leo pleaded.
Leo keeps doing the CPR, counting 1 2 3. Mario and the others watch on.
"Annie... please." Leo said.
Then Annie opens her eyes and starts coughing out water, trying to get air. Leo moves back as his sister coughs out more water. After a few minutes, Annie takes a few breaths.
"Leo..." She said being embraced by her brother.
"Are you OK?" Leo asks.
"Yeah... I'm okay. I don't want to do that again." Annie said.
"You scared me, sis! I was worried about you!" Leo slightly yelled.
"Well, Leo. We're even now. You saved me and I saved you" Annie said before embracing. "Leo, you changed your color."
"It's the Ice Flower" Leo said.
"Guys, look!" Luigi said.
The group looks to see where Luigi is pointing at. Not far smoke is see along with volcanoes.
"Is that what I think it is?" Annie asks.
The group reaches to an edge and see the area.
"Yes, Annie, Bowser's Kingdom." Mario replied.
The group over looks as storm clouds begin to fly over towards the dark place. The journey is almost over.
