√Emily woke up and noticed that the room was quiet. JJ was sitting in the corner reading a magazine, eating her snack. Emily then looked over to the other side and noticed that the chair was empty. She sadly laughed under her breath, when she noticed that the empty chair symbolized a lot more than just an empty chair. She took a deep breath and looked back over at JJ. Emily knew that there was more than he was saying. She had a feeling that there could be someone else but she tried to get taht one out of her head. He couldn't, they were about to have a baby, there is no way that he would meet someone else, right?

"Hey, Marissa called and said that she would be over soon with Natalia."

"Good. I miss her. I just hope that she had a better day than a better night."

"Was she up all night with you?"

"I was in the bath when she came into my room. She's been having nightmares lately and she won't talk to me about it."

"She sounds like you em." she laughed

"I know. But I just wish she would tell me. "

"She'll tell you when shes ready Em. Just give her time. "

"I know. I just wish that she doesn't feel like she can't tell me anything. I mean she is only 6 years old but still."

"you just have to talk to her Em, but i do have so many questions for you, now that you are confined to a bed."

"I figured this was going to happen at some point."

JJ laughed. Emily knew that JJ had so many questions and she knew that she would have to tell her the truth at some time, but she was only going to tell her want she wants to tell her. She didn't want to tell her about Aaron confessing his feelings for her. It's not that she's embarrassed by it but she wanted to keep some part of it a secret. She wanted to keep a piece of that with her. It was as if she was holding on to a moment that meant so much to her. It literally crushed both of them, but he told her that he loved her, and she didn't think it was possible.

She still thought that there was no way that he could love her, she was a mess and and her life was a mess. Now that they are having a baby together, she was convinced that the baby was the only reason, he was sticking around.

"Hotch told me some things, but I want to hear it from you."

"what did he tell you?"

"He told me that you've known each other since you went off to college."

"Yeah, We met as a I was getting ready to go to college. My mother was having a party and i hated those events. I tried sneaking out when Aar- Hotch caught me. We talked until i noticed that the party had ended. It started to pour and he gave me his jacket. There was a moment where we had kissed. I said goodnight to him after and when i walked into the house, my mother was on to me. She tried to get me to swear that I would never see him again but I wouldn't. We got into an arguement and then after she went to bed, I snuck out and left."

"And you never returned home?"

"No, I didn't want too. I left to college and i never saw him again, that is until last year. You know, I never stopped thinking about him. Whenever it rained, the memory always flooded my memory."

"I just.. i can't see how we didn't see anything. things between you two got very weird, but no one put the puzzle pieces together. "

"No" she laughed "We didn't want anyone to know. Before I found out I was pregnant, We just didn't speak of it and just acted like it didn't happen."

"And then you found out that you were pregnant."

"Yeah, i knew that I needed to tell him. I mean this isn't something I couldn't tell him, he would eventually notice. "

"Yeah. "

"He got angry when I told him. but we talked about it and he promised me that he would be here every step of the way. In the beginning he was but now, he just seems so distant. I mean we aren't together but I don't want to do this alone again. I did it with Natalia and I will do it again if I have too, but I just don't want to. "

"Yeah that makes sense. You think he's seeing someone?"

"I don't know but lately he's not here even when he's here. "

Emily's phone began to ring in the middle of the conversation. Emily was kind of grateful for the phone to ring. She looked at the caller ID, and smiled.

"Hello?"

"Hi mommy."

"Hi Baby. Are you at home?"

"Yeah. Marissa said that we're going to see you in the hospital. Are you okay?"

"Yes honey. I'm doing much better but I'd be way better if I saw you."

"I'll be there soon. I love you Mommy."

"I love you too baby. I'll see you soon."

"See you soon Mommy."

When Emily hung up the phone, she looked over at JJ.

"Everything will be okay Em. I know things seem different now, but baby will be here before you know it and Natalia will be here soon."

"Thanks JJ, but that isn't what i'm worried about."

JJ was about to speak when she heard the nurse come in.

"Hi Emily, Im Alayna, your Nurse for the day. How are you doing?"

"Good, I feel a lot better. I haven't felt any pain or contractions."

"Good. Im just going to check a few things out. "

"Thank you."

"Of course. " she smiled when she looked over at Emily.

The room felt silent. The nurse was checking Emily's vitals, while JJ was texting Penelope. Jj was getting ready to leave, when there was another knock at the door. A familiar face poked in and it lit up Emily's face.

"Mommy!"

"Hi baby. Ugh I missed you so much." Natalia ran over to Emily's side and JJ helped life her up on the bed.

"Are you okay Mommy?"

"I'm okay baby. I just had a little pain in my tummy but they doctor's made it all better."

"Okay. Everything looks good. Vitals are doing great. I'm going to gicve you guys some time and then I'll come and check on you in a little it. Okay?"

"Great. Thanks Alayna."

"Yeah, no problem." She said as she walked out the door.

"Hey Em. I'm going to get going. I'll call you later.?"

"Yeah. Thanks JJ, I really appreciate you."

"Your welcome. Oh and Penelope is getting antsy and.."

"Ill call her in a little while. Thanks JJ."

"Bye Em. "

"bye JJ."

After JJ left, Emily focused all of her attention to Natalia.

"I'm so glad that I get to see you. How was your field trip?"

"It was so cool Mommy. We saw a bunch of Animals and I even saw a Giraffe give birth to it's baby!"

"You did! Well that's exciting."

"Yeah, I learned a lot today! "

"Well I'm glad that you had more fun than I did today. Thank You Marissa for being there for her today. I was scheduled to go today but I just..."

"Em, Its okay. I really enjoyed it and you don't to thank me for doing my job. I love you guys and I love to help in anyway that I can. I'm just glad that you and the baby are okay."

"Yeah Me too."

As Natalia was telling Emily more about her day, she couldn't keep her mind off of Aaron. She wondered where he had went. He was there and then he wasn't. She snapped out of her thoughts when she heard a familiar voice.

"hey Talia, How about we give Mommy and her friend some time. We can go to the cafeteria and get some ice cream."

"But I dont want to leave mommy."

"It's okay baby. I'm not going anywhere. I will still be here when you get back."

"okay." she gave Emily a kiss and slowly crawled off the bed.

As Marissa and Natalia walked out of the room, she made eye contact with him.

"Your awake."

"Yes I am."

"Where's JJ?"

"She had to go. "

"Sorry i would of been here when you woke up but I had to go into the office. I had to fill out paperwork as to why you and JJ weren't in the office today."

"They're not giving you a hard time right? "

"No, it's been settled, but they do want you to take maternity leave early."

"What? Why."

"They can't risk you missing more work suddenly and since you are already so far along. They just want you and the baby to be safe and to them, the safest place is in your own home."

"Okay,, Fine."

"Well that was easy. "

"i'm just not in the mood to argue, I'll just do whatever."

"The team wants to see you."

"Yeah, I think JJ told them they could come tomorrow. I just want to rest and enjoy some time with my daughter before she goes home tonight without me."

"So i know that theres some things that we have to talk about, it doesn't have to be right now but at some time. "

"Well I'm not going anywhere. "

"i know. But we can start fresh tomorrow. The both of you guys have had a long day and I know that you need your rest." He placed his hand on her belly. They both looked into each other's eyes and smiled. No words were spoken but so many words were said. They both knew how they felt about each other but he was still convinced that she didn't want him and she was convinced that he only wanted to be with her for the sake of the baby.

They both snapped out of their gaze when Natalia walked back in with some ice cream.

"Mommy, Look! they have my favorite flavor! "

"Well that looks good. Try not to eat so much sugar before dinner. Okay? and then you know the routine. When you get home, get your homework done, and if you don't have any, you help Marissa in any way you can okay? and then.."

"I know Mommy. Eat dinner, change into my pajamas, and then brush my teeth. Can I watch a show before bed. Pleaaase?"

"If you are good, okay? Then I want you to read to Marissa, it doesn't have to be long but a short story. "

"Okay mommy." she had ice cream all over her face. Emily smiled and grabbed a napkin on the side table and wiped her face.

Aaron just sat back and observed. He smiled and thought how lucky he was. Even though they weren't together, he was still lucky to have her as the mother of his child.

After about an hour, Emily looked at the clock and then looked over at her daughter.

"I'm afraid it's time for dinner baby. You have school tomorrow and I want you to be rested. "

"Do I have to go mommy? "

"I don't want you to go, but I can't leave just yet. I'll be home with you soon, I promise."

"Okay. I love you Mommy."

"I love you too baby. So much."

"Bye Emily. Call me if you need anything."

"Bye Marissa. I will. Thank You."

Natalia hoped off the bed and walked with Marissa. A tear ran down Emily's face. Aaron looked scooted closer to her.

"Are you okay Em?"

"Yeah, I just hate that I'm not with her. "

"I know but like you said. You will be home soon."

Alayna walked in and smiled.

"Good evening Miss. Emily. How are we doing? Any pain yet?"

"No, not physically. I just hate leaving my daughter."

"Ahh Honey. I know what you mean. I have 3 daughters and i mostly work 12 hour shifts. It's hard."

"Oh wow. 3 Huh?" Emily giggled

"Yeah, i had a single pregnancy and then when i got pregnant again, twins."

"And all girls?"

"All girls. I feel bad for my husband but he loves them more than anything. But we stopped and dont plan on having any more kids." she laughed

"I would agree, you might just get triplets." Aaron said jokingly.

"Ugh that would be the worst." she said

Emily laughed.

"So who is this? boyfriend, husband?"

Aaron and Emily both looked at each other and their smiles dropped.

"Uhh no. He's just the father."

"Oh I'm sorry. I didn't mean too."

"No it's okay. It's natural to assume." Aaron stated.

While the nurse continued to check Emily out, there was a person on the other side of the door who had heard everything.

She thought about confronting her but decided that it would be best to calm before the storm. She then turned around and headed out of the hospital.
