A/N

So before we begin I'd like to thank everyone who has come to read my piece of crap story. Now, this isn't my first story but it is the first one that I've vowed to finish no matter what. The last story I wrote I deleted because I hated it so much. However, I've planned a little bit of this one. I have no idea how long it will be, but it is set up so that I can write a sequel if I so choose. Now, then I hope you all enjoy because I won't read any flames you write so those people can screw off. Also, before I forget this story is rate M due to foul tongue, suggestive themes, dark themes, thoughts of suicide, and a few other things that I either can't think of at the moment or haven't written yet. Oh and I don't own Naruto. Now then, please enjoy.

Prologue

In a small, no name village, a baby boy had been abandoned. Left to the local orphanage without a single thought. A small, baby boy with shining, dark amethyst eyes, and dull black hair. He had nothing with him. Not a scrap of clothing or even a paper with a name as he laid there, motionless, on the doorstep of the orphanage. It was dark out with no one around and yet, the caretaker of the orphanage felt the urge to go outside. She had no idea why, no one did, but who knows what would've happened if she didn't. There she raised him for the better part of 2 months before someone had come to adopt him. A young kunoichi from Konoha. She had stopped by there a few times on missions before and had become well acquainted with the people there. She appeared to be in her mid 20s with straight, waist length black hair and beautiful green eyes. She wore a simple green shirt with blue jeans and shinobi sandals. Her name was Asuka Konton. "For the last time granny Toga, I'm more than old enough and prepared. I already have one child back home. My sweet little Kokatsu. Aww he is just so adorable. But anyways, it's like I said. I'm ready for another child and things… haven't been working well with me and Seoki. But I still want another child." The only caretaker of the orphanage, an elderly lady by the name of Toga, was a dear friend of Asuka as well as a grandmother figure of sorts, simply sighed. "Fine, fine. There was a baby that showed up on my doorstep a couple months ago, no one local was willing to take him in, heartless bastards. Give me just a sec. I'll be right back out with him. Toga hobbled her way inside and came back a few minutes later with a baby boy in her arms. "When he showed up here, he didn't have a single thing with him, not even clothes. I haven't decided what to name him yet so you can name him whatever you want. "Hmmm… Okay." Asuka proceeded to grab the baby boy out of Toga's arms, careful not to wake him. "How about… Tsuya. Yes! Tsuya! Your name will be Tsuya." And thus Tsuya was born.

A few days after that, and after Asuka had said goodbye to everyone she knew, Asuka returned to Konoha with baby Tsuya in her arms. That day was also marked on the calendar as Tsuya's birthday, January 18th.

After returning to Konoha with young Tsuya she delivered the message that she had gotten during her mission to Hiruzen, the third Hokage, before returning home. "Honey! I'm home! And guess what I brought with me?" She yelled through the house. She walked into the living room where her husband was. "Hello Asuka dear. What did you bring back with you? And how was the Mission?" A young man appearing to be in his late 20s to early 30s said. He was Taller than average, standing at abou 5'9" with dark, gunmetal gray hair and beedy blue eyes. This man was Seoki Hoshi(Yes I know they have different last names. That's on purpose.). "Well, we've been trying to have another child… and it hasn't been working out well… so… I kinda sorta adopted a baby boy while returning from my mission." Shocked and slightly angry, Seoki raised his voice a little. "You did what now!? Er, sorry for yelling but you should've asked me first." " I know. It's just that things weren't working… And I know it's been eating you up and he was right there so.. I adopted him." "*Sigh. Fine. It's not like I can do anything about it anyways. So what's his name?" Holding Tsuya out in front of her for Seoki to see with a bright smile on her face, she said, "His name is Tsuya. Tsuya Konton." "Aww. Hi little Tsuya. What are ya doin." At this Tsuya smiled a little and made a happy baby noise.

However, they wouldn't be able to live happily for long. Asuka and Seoki's son, Hikari, died on a mission while Asuka was gone. Unfortunately, his team's body wasn't found for months and it was supposed to be a long mission. However, after the 6th week of the team not reuring, the Hokage sent out a search party. At the news Asuka and Seoki were devastated. Asuka took time off from her shinobi duties and Seoki drove himself further into his in an effort to move on from the tragedy.

From there, little Tsuya had a happy life, at least for a short while. Though it wasn't meant to last. Only a couple years after Hikari died, Seoki died during a mission. Being close friends with Minato since the academy, Seoki's death saddened Minato and sent him into a depressed state. After recovering, Minato vowed to make sure nothing like this happened ever again by making a new squad within the ANBU. Said squad would report only to the Hokage and would be made of the most elite of the elite. Their missions would be anything from simply watching over another team's mission to make sure nothing went terribly wrong to SS ranked intel missions that could cause another war if they failed. After Seoki died on his mission, Minato had to write a formal letter of apology to the land of lightning as they technically shouldn't have been there. But unfortunately for Tsuya, his troubles were only just beginning. While he may not have known Seoki as he was only a baby, his death would greatly affect Asuka.

After hearing about her husband's death, Asuka retired from the shinobi forces and fell into a deep depression. She still dearly loved her little Tsuya, but she couldn't bring herself to do anything. After about a month, she woke up to the cries of Tsuya which was unusual. Tsuya never cried, not even when she broke her wrist a couple months ago. And that's when Asuka realized that she hadn't eaten in days. And neither had Tsuya. She was probably starving. Finally pulling herself together a little, she brought Tsuya some food and fed her. Because of Tsuya's cries she managed to bring herself together again. But she couldn't help these random lingering thoughts that if she hadn't adopted Tsuya, then maybe none of this would've ever happened. Asuka would always push those thoughts to the side and remember that Tsuya was all that she had left. Tsuya was her world and that Seoki would've wanted her to take care of Tsuya for him.

While Asuka managed to get a job as a nurse at the hospital, she was after all a medic nin during her kunoichi days, she never managed to fully recover from the incident. She was always sad but she pushed through. She got some help from Minato and Kushina every once and a while to push through the tough times.

A couple years passed and all had seemed good. Tsuya had started learning to be a shinobi like his family. She learned some of the basic healing jutsu from Asuka as well as the academy 3. He was only 4 and yet he was already better than most of the genin. Asuka was doing better and was less sad now. All seemed good. But it didn't last long. Nothing good ever lasts long for Tsuya. Asuka was sick and dying and there was nothing anyone could do. She eventually passed away in the hands of her crying son, Tsuya. But worse yet, only a few months after that, the Kyuubi attacked.

When the masked man arrived in the labor room holding Naruto he had placed an explosive tag on the baby, not the blanket. So when Minato removed the blanket and hirashined away he was devastated when Naruto blew up in his hands. He broke down in tears crying because he couldn't save his little boy. And shortly after that he heard the screams of his people and the roar of the Kyuubi in the distance. Knowing what he must do he rushed to the home of his late friends Seoki and Asuka to find Tsuya. There he found young Tsuya already ready and waiting for him. "No need to explain. I already understand." He said. During Minato's brief meetings with the boy he had learned that Tsuya was more than willing to sacrifice himself for the greater good. That's why he went to Tusya in the first place, because he knew he would want to and be willing to. With a simple nod of the head Minato grabbed Tsuya and hirashined them to the altar for the sealing. After a brief scuffle with the masked man and a short bout with the Kyuubi, Kushina and Minato sacrificed themselves to save Tsuya and sealed the Kyuubi into him. "I'm sorry, Tsuya. That I wasn't able to… protect you from such a fate… But there was no one else… who would be willing to take on such a burden… Please forgive me." Minato said with blood coming from his lips and a sad smile on his face. "I'm sorry as well.. Tsuya… Though I don't think we've ever met… I'm Kushina… I was a close friend… of your mother… And I know it's rude of me to ask such a favor… but would you please forgive us… for what we did…" Tsuya, with a single, shaky nod and a stream of tears flowing down his face said "Yes…" He broke down into tears as soon as they collapsed with a scream of pure sorrow. A scream that channeled all of his emotional weight that had built up over the years. Between trying to support his mother and dealing with all the hate he received as a result of his father's death, which did nearly cause a war, he finally let it all out. AFter a few minutes he collapsed into the pool of blood that had formed underneath the bodies of Kushina and Minato. When Hiruzen finally found them, he was shocked and sad. "Now this poor little boy will have to suffer a fate worse than death. I feel sorry for you, young Tsuya, but I hope you can deal with it." With that said he picked up Tsuya, called the ANBU to take care of the battle field and to return Minato and Kushina's bodies to be buried later. He returned to the Hokage tower and called forth a meeting. "I've called for this meeting to talk about what we should do going forward and to give you all the bad news. Seeing as Minato died before being able to really cement himself, I will be taking over as Hokage once again. Now then, there is a new jinchuuriki, a young boy named Tsuya Konton. I vote that we put him into the academy within the next few years and watch him for the time being." Before anyone could really let it sink in that Minato was dead they were already being forced to make a decision that could shape the future of a young child as well as the village so they took a few minutes to decide. During all of this, young Tsuya was sleeping in the Hokage's office on the couch he had in there. Everyone except for Danzo voted in favor of this action. "I vote that he be placed in my care so that he may be groomed into the perfect-" Danzo didn't get to finish that sentence as Hiruzen cut in. "You will not make him into a weapon to be used for Konoha. He is a person just as much as you and I are." With a simple "tch" Danzo stepped down.

Now 6 years old Tsuya enrolled into the academy. He didn't make friends with anyone. He was cold and distant with everyone. The few that tried to get close to him were put off by the fact that he seemed to know everything about them and the fact that he was always watching everyone. After the first 3 weeks no one tried to get close to him. He also got perfect scores on every test and was never even touched during any spar. Even with Mizuki attempting to sabotage his scores, Tsuya was still the best in the class, by far. Iruka tried to get close to him, but Tsuya told him not to "anger the beast anymore than he already has." That put Iruka off a bit and while he tried again he always got a similar response. Then 1 day, during Tsuya's third year at the academy, when Mizuki tried to steal the forbidden scroll Iruka saw the "beast" the Tsuya was talking about. He remembered that night more clearly than anything else.

Flashback

"Mizuki, how could you do this?!" "Simple, Iruka. Lord Orochimaru promised me great power if I give him this scroll!" "So that's it. I was wondering who you were working for. Now it makes sense." Tsuya walked out from behind a tree as he said this, announcing his presence. "Tsuya, what are you doing here! You should be asleep at your house!" "Simply put, there is a crisis that could affect the fate of Konoha, I can't turn a blind eye to that. Now then, Mizuki, return the scroll and we don't have to do this. Refuse and there won't even be a corpse left for your family to bury." "Hahahaha. Tell me, do you ever wonder why everyone in the village shun's you." "No, Mizuki, it's S-class law that you can't talk about that." "If you mean about my father's death nearly causing a war I'm well aware." "No you damn monster, it's because you're the demon fox reborn." "Puahhahahah. Sorry for laughing, but, hahaha, that's your big reveal. Well 2 things, 1 I already knew. And second," Tsuya's face suddenly turned serious as he glared at Mizuki with enough killing intent to kill an ordinary civilian, "as far as you should be concerned right now, I'm the greatest monster you'll ever know. Iruka, I suggest you go get the ANBU." With that iruka ran as fast as he could to reach the Hokage tower and shortly after he started running he heard screams. Mizuki's screams. By the time he had returned with the ANBU, the only thing there was Tsuya covered in blood, the scroll next to him sat there looking bored as per usual, and a bloody red pulp that he could only assume was Mizuki. "He's still alive. He is also all too eager to talk so you can take him to I&T. I'm heading to go see Lord Third." With that he started heading toward the Hokage tower. The following week it was revealed that another one of Orochimaru's goons had entered the village and attempted to assassinate Hiruzen but Naruto stopped them. He killed the supposed assassin before they could even do anything. The only reason we even know the assassin was sent by Orochimaru was because Mizuki spilled the beans in I&T. After that he disappeared from the academy.

End Flashback

Shortly after that incident with Mizuki and the assassin, Tsuya was recruited into the ANBU where he was trained. During which it was discovered that he was a member of the Bugendai clan, fabled for their kekkei genkai that can control space. He also made his first friend. The only one not put off about his seeming knowledge of everything about them and the fact that he was constantly watching everyone. A young girl who was close to his age being only 13, Usagi Hitoshi. She was a rival of sorts for him, often being paired with him for sparring. She never stopped trying to get close to him. He would always turn her away until one day she spoke to him about her past. She was apparently an orphan of the Kyuubi attack and only barely survived the attack because the Kyuubi was suddenly teleported away from the village. She would always eat lunch with him and pester him about his past. He would always warn her to stay away lest she do something she would regret. One day during a sparring she pushed him too far and he snapped. He released all of his anger and emotional turmoil and turned it into fuel for his sparring match. She was shocked and terrified at his strength and speed. He released so much killing intent that she nearly had a heart attack and then proceeded to absolutely demolish her. She was in the hospital for 3 days. When she returned she seemed to be even more infatuated with him. Tsuya asked her why she wouldn't leave him alone and her response was because she could "tell he was always holding his emotions and was curious as to why." He responded with, "It's a long story she wouldn't want to hear." So she said he would have to tell her one day. Whenever he was ready. He told Usagi it was a deal. After that they became closer and were practically inseparable. Usagi was constantly asking about him and she slowly made her way into his heart. She never did get him to tell her about his past but she was able to see him for how he actually was. A lovable stoic bundle of rock that never changes. Anytime something bad happened she would go to him and confide within him. Like when her parents died on a mission she went rushing into his room, a mess of tears and sorrow. That night, in a state that can only be described as drunk on sorrow, she told him of her dream to create a world without war. A world where everybody could live happily with their families. She also kind of told him that she liked him but Tsuya chose to ignore it.

After a year, he finished his training and was inducted into the shadow program along with Usagi. He quickly rose their ranks and became the squad captain. Usagi remained 6th shadow during her entire time there. After another year as the shadow squad captain he was given a mission that would change everything for him. Now age 11, Tsuya was being sent on a mission that, if he failed , could spark a war between the elemental nations once again. His mission was simple: track down and eliminate the traitors that stole information regarding Konoha's spy network in the other shinobi villages. Tsuya had a bad feeling about this mission. Something unusual and very bad as last time he had a bad feeling an entire squad was wiped out.

Tsuya's POV

"Everybody, your attention please. We've tracked down the traitors. They seem to be taking a break in a clearing not far from here. We strike while their guard is down. Be ready to move in 5 minutes." With that he went to grab his items and put on his armor when Usagi entered his room. "Tsuya, you seem bothered by something. Are you worried about that bad feeling you have about the mission?" "Perhaps. However, Lord Third has ordered that we complete the mission, therefore we complete the mission. No questions asked." "I know, but are you sure that they won't be expecting us?" "They are expecting us. That's what I'm worried about. Because they haven't done anything to prepare even though they know we're coming. It makes me worried." "I'm sure it'll be fine. I'm sure in the worst case scenario they put up more of a fight than we expected. You'll be fine." "That's what I'm worried about. I'll be fine but what about the rest of the squad?" "You're worried for no reason. Besides, it's time to go." "Yeah. That's all it is. Let's go." With that Tsuya took his squad and headed out. After about 30 minutes they reached the camp and attacked. Unfortunately it was a trap, just as Tsuya had feared. When they tried to attack the camp there was no one there and they were ambushed. Usagi had managed to dodge and defend herself from the first attacker but was quickly stabbed through the back by another. Tsuya was the only one that managed to survive all of his attackers. After he took care of them he looked around to see the entire 13 man squad was either dead or bleeding out on the ground. Then he noticed Usagi still trying to put up a bit of a fight. "Usagi!" He shouted in worry and ran over to her. However, his shout distracted her for a moment and one of her attackers sliced her across her stomach. "Noooo!" he shouted. And he snapped again. In an instant he took out all 17 of the ex ANBU that had fled. Most of them he killed with a single strike from his chukuto to their neck. However, the ones that had attacked Usagi he left for last. One of them he beat to a bloody pulp, the other he cut over 500 times all over his body and he bled to death. The last one he simply stabbed through the chest. "Usagi, are you okay? Can you hear me?" He collapsed next to her and held her close. "See… I told you you would be fine… didn't I?" She said weekly. "Now's not the time for your crappy jokes. I'm gonna get you out of here, okay? Just stay with me." "Don't bother. Both of my lungs… are flooding with blood. I won't… make it. Just finish… the mission." "I said I was gonna get you out of here, so just sit still." Then, about 30 more ex ANBU appeared. "Dammit. Why are there so many of them? God dammit!." He started to slaughter them. But for every one he killed, it seemed like 3 more his place. After almost a full day of endless enemies, they finally stopped coming. He turned around to grab Usagi and get out of there. But he was too late. One of the traitors was still alive and had just run a kunai into Usagi's chest, just above her heart. Tsuya immediately dashed over and killed the man with a single punch to the side of his skull, causing it to cave in. "Usagi? Usagi?! Usagi please! I can't lose you!" "*Cough. You know Tsuya, I've never seen you like this. Haha…" She started crying as the reality of the situation finally hit her. "Tsuya, I… I don't want to die! I don't want to die!" "It's okay… It's okay Usagi. You won't die… I'll… I'll save you. I'll get you back to Konoha." "You know… You never did tell me your story…" "Usagi, I'll tell you, but only if you come back with me. You can't die. Promise me." "I'm.. I'm sorry…Tsuya… But… I don't think I can make it… You know… I'll really like you Tsuya…I just wish… We could've had more time together… I won't make it but… could you please… live for me… could you fulfill my wish for me…please?" "Yes, Yes I can, but you have to promise me you'll see me again. Promise me… please." With a sad smile, Usagi gave Tsuya her final words. "Please… you have to make my wish come true… in my stead." With that her eyes finally went dark. "NOOOOOO!" Tsuya screamed at the top of his lungs. He simply sat there crying and shouting about how it wasn't fair for hours upon hours. Eventually a squad of nearly 50 ANBU came upon the remains of the clearing. There were countless trees that had fallen over in every direction with fire everywhere and countless bodies. There were craters everywhere, evidence of lightning striking the ground, earthen pillars with bodies on them, but most of the bodies appeared to have somehow been torn apart from the inside. Almost as if they were blown up from the inside. When they tried to pull Tsuya away from Usagi's body he snapped and killed them. He couldn't tell friend from foe any more and he proceeded to slaughter them. After another day or so, Hiruzen went to personally what had happened. When he got there he was shocked to say the least. There was Tsuya next to Usagi's body simply standing there with a wicked smile on his face and blood all over him, but there wasn't a single scratch on him. "Tsuya? Tsuya is that you? What happened here?" Hiruzen calle out to himTsuya simply looked at Hiruzen before saying something Hiruzen wasn't expecting Tsuya to ever say. "Nope. It's Kurei to weaklings like you." With that "Kurei" went after Hiruzen. Hiruzen was caught off guard but quickly got it together, however that split second was enough for Kurei to use. Kurei fought like a feral beast, going after every opening he saw regardless of what damage he would take, as opposed to Tsuya's quick, yet cruel style that went after an enemy's muscles and joints. Due to this Hiruzen ended up losing half his left hand and wrist. "I'm sorry Tsuya, but I have to do this." With that Hiruzen went on the offensive.

1 Month later

Tsuya woke up in a hospital room with Hiruzen sitting in a chair next to him, he had a few new scars on his face and his left hand was bandaged up and in a sling. Near the end of the fight Tsuya had started to come to his senses and realized what was going on, but he still didn't remember what all happened. It was pretty fuzzy for him. "Hiruzen, what happened? Why were we fighting? And what of the mission?" "You don't remember? I see. Well you accomplished your mission however… when I arrived at the scene you were surrounded by corpses, both friendly and enemy. I'm not sure what happened but it seems like you snapped. You attacked me shortly after I got there." Tsuya was shocked. He couldn't believe what he had just heard. He attacked Hiruzen? That couldn't be. He would sooner die than attack Hiruzen. "What… have I done?" Tsuya broke down into tears when he suddenly turned to Hiruzen."Usagi! What happened to Usagi?!" Hiruzen frowned and looked away for a moment. "She… didn't make it. We tried everything we could but she didn't make it. I'm sorry, Tsuya." Tsuya broke down again. "Tsuya, you've had it rough so far. First your parents and brother, then the Kyuubi attack, and now… this. I think you should take some time off." "What? No you can't mean-" "Yes I do. I'm officially removing you from the shadow squad and the ANBU ranks as well as temporarily removing you from active duty. You need time to finally put everything to rest. You never got a chance to mourn your parent's deaths. I suggest you leave the village for a couple years. Clear your head. Find yourself. Train. Do whatever you need. Just put this all behind you." At this point Tsuya was crying into Hiruzen's shoulder. The shinobi core was all he ever really had. His entire family were shinobi, then he became a shinobi, and his only friend was also a shinobi. After that, Hiruzen left the room and returned to the Hokage tower. He still had to get caught up on almost a week's worth of paperwork and he needed to call the console for a meeting.

"I call this console meeting into secession today to discuss the recent events." "Finally, we've been wondering what happened to you." Tsume spoke up. Everyone was curious as to what happened. All they knew is that Hiruzen suddenly left the village and then returned with Tsuya in his arms, new scars all over his arms and face, and missing his pinkie and ring finger along with half of his left hand. He was also bleeding profusely. "So, you gonna tell us what happened or what?" "Simply put, there was a problem with an important mission and our jinchuuriki was in danger. I resolved the situation." "What happened to the person who attacked you?" Hiashi spoke up."Let me guess, the jinchuuriki lost control and attacked you?" Shikaku asked. Hiruen didn't say anything. "You're kidding right? I was just randomly guessing." "*Sigh. Yes. There was an incident and the jinchuuriki attacked and I wasn't expecting it." So you're telling me, the 10 year old jinchuuriki, 10 year old jinchuuriki, attacked you and managed to tear off half your left hand and cut you up like swiss cheese?" "Yes. Now enough of that. I have temporarily relieved Tsuya of duty and told him he should go on a trip outside of Konoha for a few years. Meeting adjourned."

A/N

And that's a wrap. Holycow that was a long ass epilogue. Now, I know I didn't go into much detail about most of the characters and I kinda just said oh this happened and so did this but I really wanted to get through the Prologue so we can get started on the actual story, which will start next chapter. This isn't how I usually write, I swear. And 1 more thing, all of the characters are a little bit older in this story as you may have been able to guess. Simply put, Tsuya, who is effectively taking Naruto's place, will be 14 when Naruto would've only been 9. So for things to work out, all of the other important characters are at least 4 years older. Some will be even older than that but I probably won't mess with it too much. Hope to see you all in the next chapter.

Sincerely,

Me
