Welcome back to Ashes of Midnight. Last time, Cynder and the Midnight Sons attempted a spell to try and locate Scarlet Witch, and needless to say, it didn't go well, with Cynder, Magik, and Nico Minoru getting teleported out of the Abbey's basement, leaving Ghost Rider and Blade behind. So, where did the girls vanish off to? Read on to discover...

(Our scene opens up on the other side of the portal thing generated at the end of the last chapter, depositing Cynder, Nico Minoru, and Magik into an unknown location. Straight away, Cynder hands Nico Minoru her staff back)

Nico Minoru: (Going off on the not present Ghost Rider and Blade) Couldn't even trust those two to chant their own names!

Magik: I am going to open a rift to the negative zone in their showers when we get back.

Nico Minoru: That is if we get home. There's no telling where that screwed up spell sent us. This could be a broom closet in Doctor Doom's basement for all we know. Or maybe a storage nook on Galactus' Worldship, the holding pen of a Skrull cruiser. Hell it could even be the inside of Robbie's brain!

(At this point, Cynder's eye catches something, and soon she's illuminated in green light)

Cynder: No. It's worse. It's something powerful, something strong, something... foul. That's where we start looking.

Magik: Looking for what?

Cynder: Heck if I know.

Nico Minoru: Why am I not surprised you said that?

(But as the trio walks toward the source of the light, they're recorded on a security camera. Catching up with the trio, after a few minutes of walking, we see exactly what we didn't want to see. The stolen Gamma Accelerator. And that's when the now evil Bruce Banner comes over the tannoy)

Bruce Banner: You shouldn't be here. Nobody should be here.

(That's when the lights kick on, revealing the trio are right in the middle of a HYDRA base with two strange points in the floor on either side of the trio.)

Cynder: Banner. Suddenly the vileness makes sense.

Bruce Banner: Ah, the illustrious Former Queen of Conquer, and... friends?

Nico Minoru: Really Bruce?! You follow me on Superlink!

Bruce Banner: Not ringing a bell.

Magik: I can rip through the fabric of spacetime itself! How have you not heard of me?

Bruce Banner: Eh, it doesn't matter.

(At this point, both Nico Minoru and Magik are annoyed, but Cynder cautions them to stay quiet)

Cynder: Let Bruce prattle. We must be on to something.

Bruce Banner: I cannot fathom how you found this facility, but I will soon enough. Your names may escape me, but you most assuredly will not.

(With that, the evil Bruce Banner presses a button on his console, summoning a horde of HYDRA troopers)

Cynder: We'll see about that, Gamma geek.

(And with that, the trio spring into battle, and soon enough have the HYDRA goons taken down, throwing one against the stolen Gamma Accelerator for good measure)

Nico Minoru: Remember me now, "Brucie"?

Bruce Banner: I'm starting to, little punk. Which actually explains a lot about how you got here. This operation was far too amateur for Carol or even Tony. It's not the how I should be focusing on though, it's the why. You're not here for the Gamma Accelerator at all, are you? No, no, the truth is far more delightful. Of course it is. Well, by all means then, have at it. Or should I say, have at them.

(At this point, the strange points in the floor start moving up, revealing them to be elevators of some sort. From one of the, Fallen Spyro emerges, but from the other, just about the only thing worse than Fallen Spyro, a demonic looking version of Scarlet Witch, the latter apparently being used like a power source)

Magik: Wanda!

Cynder: Don't! Lilith and Malefor have her now.

Magik: Well, what do we do?!

Cynder: All I'm getting from The Hunter is "Death is their only release"

Nico Minoru: What?! Well tell The Hunter that that's not how we work!

Fallen Spyro: A shame. For that's the only thing that can save you now.

(With that remark from Fallen Spyro, Bruce Banner activates a series of gamma magic beams, drawing power not from Fallen Scarlet Witch, but into her.)

Nico Minoru: Stop this, you monster!

Bruce Banner: I assure you, Ms. Maximoff is free to do as she pleases.

Magik: She doesn't appear free or pleased to me!

Fallen Spyro: Really? (To Fallen Scarlet Witch) Sister, is there anything you'd like to say to your friends here?

(The room looks about ready to rupture as the energy makes its way into Fallen Scarlet Witch, and soon enough, she succumbs fully to the combined evil's control)

Fallen Scarlet Witch: Yes.

(And with that, the containment unit around Fallen Scarlet Witch explodes and the battle begins. But the duo of Fallen Spyro and Fallen Scarlet Witch is too much for the trio to handle, and all are on the ground soon enough.)

Bruce Banner: Well, this encounter has certainly smashed my expectations! (Starts laughing maniacally) Come now Bruce, you mustn't let yourself get carried away. We planned on taking them alive. But then again... (To Fallen Scarlet Witch and Fallen Spyro) Eliminate them.

(As Wanda charges her corrupted Chaos Magic, and Spyro funnels corrupted Aether through his veins, Magik takes out her sword and cuts open a Limbo portal)

Magik: Come, this is over. We must leave, now!

Nico Minoru: (Trying to reason with Fallen Scarlet Witch) Wanda, please, stop this, it's me, Nico!

Fallen Spyro: It's worthless, puny sorceress. She can't hear you!

Cynder: (Summoning The Hunter's swords) I refuse to believe that!

(Leaping into the fray one last time, Cynder manages to throw off both of the Fallen confronting her.)

Fallen Spyro: You will pay for that!

(But it does little good, as both are charging up their attacks again almost instantly. Cynder barely has time to react and quickly ushers herself, Nico Minoru, and Magik through the Limbo portal just as it closes, ending our scene for today.)

And that looks like a good place to wrap up for today. So, our situation just went from bad to worse, as now both Spyro and Scarlet Witch have become part of Lilith and Malefor's Fallen. This is really not good. And I have a feeling that Caretaker is going to be very cross about all of this too once they get back to the Abbey. So, how's that going to go?
