As they walked to St. Timothy's School, Mike held Castle's hand tightly. The other hand clutched his teddy bear, Little George. His sister, Nancy, held Castle's other hand and also Krissy's hand. Krissy held Sergeant Saava's hand. His other hand was held by Misty.

Sergeant Saava found that he liked human children. He had never married and had no children of his own. He felt his career was too dangerous to take a chance of leaving a widow and fatherless children behind. Perhaps when he retired, he could settle down in one of the Tarkai communities in the United Kingdoms and begin a family.

"Lieutenant Castle!" Cried Father O'Dowd, running to meet his guests and his new students. "it's good to see you, Rick. Have you been going to Mass regularly?"

Castle blushed. Colonel Schram felt a soldier should have a spiritual side and had insisted Castle attend some sort of divine services when he was a young lad. He had picked St. Timothy's and Father O'Dowd.

"No, Father. Catholic churches are few and far between where I end up."

"Well, I can at least hear your confession while you're here."

The idea of Castle confessing caused Sergeant Saava to laugh.

"Ah, Sergeant Saava. And how have you been?"

"Just fine, Father, but I worship God as do all of my Tarkai brothers and sisters."

"As long as you find God, young fellow. As long as you find God."

Father O'Dowd knelt in front of Mike. The father radiated such warmth, good cheer and happiness that the children took to him at once.

"And who is this fellow?" O'Dowd said pointing at Little George.

"This is Little George. He's my friend."

"And a good friend he is, I'm bound. You'll make more friends here, but I'm sure you'll never have a better one than Little George."

Father O'Dowd talked to the other children and won them over completely. He also talked to Rick who told him that the children had little if any education.

"No matter. Regrettably we're prepared for that sort of thing." Said the father with a smile. "Now, I think we should have a drop to drink. I know Tarkai love lemonade. Perhaps you children would like some as well?"

And off the children went to a new and better life.

"Richard Castle to see Ms. Mourne." He said to the receptionist. "I have an appointment."

"Just one moment, Mr. Castle. I'll just pop into her office and see if she's ready to see you."

She left her desk and went into the only other office.

Ms. Mourne was tall and slender with a ramrod stiff posture, grey hair and even at her best when she was young could only have been called cute, if that.

"Ms. Mourne, Richard Castle is here."

Mrs. Mourne brought up what the Anti-Slavery Society had on Richard Castle. It wasn't much.

"A mercenary, so called. I think his background on Tark makes him likely to favor our position on slavery. Send him in. I hope he isn't looking got a job."

Castle went into the office.

"Sit down, Mr. Castle. How can the Anti-Slavery Association help you?"

"I believe I can help you. Have you heard of a place called Rendezvous in the Latin Expanse?"

"The Latin Expanse is a bit out of our usual area of operations but continue."

"There's slavery on Rendezvous and I happen to know of some special ops types who could start a dandy slave uprising."

"Please, tell me more."

The End.
