Chapter 50: The Day of the Wedding
SCENE: ANDREW AND AMBERS HOUSE
MARCH 15, 2021
(Andrew and Amber are sitting on the floor of their living room having an indoor picnic the night before their wedding. They want to spend time together before not seeing each other until the wedding)
Amber: (Eats grape) So tell me the truth if you had to choose a honeymoon destination assuming we can travel safely when we're not creaky and old. What would it be?
Andrew: (Grins and rubs her leg) Well it would be somewhere tropical, somewhere we can swim and we can put sun lotion on each other.
Amber: Will there be an open bar?
Andrew: And a nude beach.
Amber: (Chuckles) Oh now you are talking my language. And we can't forget the free buffet.
Andrew: Of course, we need food to replenish our energy and we need a lot for the hotel room.
Amber: (Grins) And the nude beach.
Andrew: (Smiles in lust) Well we are gonna be in our honeymoon so let them stare. We can give them some pointers.
Amber: Oh, they are gonna win the Superbowl…sorry I ruined it didn't I?
Andrew: Nope you didn't come here.
(Amber moves to makes out with Andrew lying on their sides in content)
Amber: (Pulls back) You sent out the marriage license, right?
Andrew: Uh I think so. (Leans in to kisses Amber who pulls back)
Amber: Think so isn't good enough we have invested a lot of time and a lot of money on this wedding and I need to know it's not for nothing so remember or you won't see me naked tonight.
Andrew: (Groans and goes through his memory) Yes! Yes, I sent it out a month ago and city hall sent me confirmation. (Leans in but Amber pulls back again) What?
Amber: Show me the confirmation.
Andrew: (Annoyed) Ay dio, are you serious?
Amber: (Stern) Show me the confirmation.
(Andrew groans but pulls out his phone hurriedly searching for the email and finds it)
Andrew: (Shows her) There it is email and confirmation number for one Andrea Vincenzo DeLuca and Amber Stevie Karev soon to be DeLuca. Are you satisfied?
Amber: (Grins mischievously) I'm about to be.
(Amber stands up to take her top off revealing her pink push up bra causing Andrew to widen his eyes in shock and lust. She seductively walks toward the bedroom and unhooks her bra along the way before pausing to look at Andrew)
Amber: (Takes bra off) You coming?
Andrew: (Snaps out of it) Sorry I was processing I'm coming.
(Amber chuckles going to the bedroom as Andrew follows her taking his clothes off)

SCENE: ALEX AND JO'S HOUSE
(Izzie is on the phone with the florists in the backyard asserting dominance with Alex and Jo watching from the table in fear)
Izzie: No, Fred we talked about this the petals on the aisle are gonna be from white roses and the bouquet is gonna be with red roses and gardenias with gypsophilia…no you can't throw the petals from the white roses that's not what the bride choose and that's not what I delivered for her! …Then find them somewhere else and make good on your word like your supposed to! …No the bride isn't gonna do red rose petals instead…because she's wearing a red wedding dress and we both agreed it was too much red! Now get me white roses or you will have no check and a very angry wedding planner on what is supposed to be the happiest day of Amber Karev's life bye! (Hangs up and groans) This was so much easier when I pulled the cancer card and made people feel bad and actually do their jobs.
Alex: Iz this is a small and intimate wedding it's a backyard wedding not the royal wedding, Amber's not gonna care about the tiny details.
Izzie: (Chuckles darkly) Okay you know what you're not a woman and you didn't plan our wedding so you don't get an opinion on this.
Jo: (To Alex) Was she this scary when she planned your wedding?
Alex: It wasn't ours when we planned and the IL 2 made her tame unlike now.
Izzie: Oh, shut up I'm doing a nice thing for your sister.
Alex: Yeah, and I'm still baffled you're doing this, why are you doing this?
Izzie: Because we've all had a hard year, especially Amber and Andrew and I wanted all of us to have one perfect day to celebrate love and joy. Besides if I didn't step in your sister would've dragged DeLuca to city hall in a red jumpsuit and beer at Joe's after.
Jo: I can actually envision them doing that and telling us to accept it and move on.
Izzie: They're getting married, it's a miracle. Amber Karev and Andrew DeLuca, children of misery, have found bliss in each other. I know they deserve to have a big celebration for that even if they don't. Now one of you get Amber and bring her here because it's gonna be 5 soon and they need to be away from each other a whole day before the wedding.
Alex: I don't understand the superstition. I mean me and Jo saw each other right before we got married.
Jo: Yeah, and on that day, we were locked in a shed with a dead body, our wedding planner had an allergy attack and the cake ended up on the ground.
Izzie: And unless you want to repeat that for another Karev one of you go and tell her if she even texts DeLuca before she walks down that aisle the dress and bouquet aren't gonna be the only red things on her.
Jo: (Steps in) I will pick her up and get her here don't worry I got this, are you good to watch the baby?
Alex: I've got him, don't worry.
(Jo leaves them to pick up Amber)

SCENE: ANDREW AND AMBER'S HOUSE
(Jo enters the house with the hideaway key)
Jo: Hey! I'm here to pick up the bride the day before the wedding!
(Jo doesn't hear a response and looks around the living room finding the picnic unattended and walks down the hallway)
Jo: Amber?
(Suddenly Jo hears female and male moaning down the hall outside their bedroom causing Jo to widen her eyes in shock as they moan louder)
Jo: Oh my god.
(Jo turns around and runs down the hall trying to get away from it not seeing Amber's discarded bra on the floor causing her to slip and shriek before gaining her footing. Jo exhales in relief before going to the kitchen when a few moments later Amber comes out wearing her clothes, looking disheveled and her hair slightly messy)
Amber: Hey um sorry I didn't hear you come in, d-did you-
Jo: I am already trying to forget it don't worry.
Amber: (Mortified) Oh god.
Jo: I-I'm sorry I wouldn't have come in if I didn't realize-
Amber: It doesn't matter let's just move on.
Jo: I would like that very much.
(Andrew suddenly walks in buttoning his shirt looking mortified as well)
Andrew: (Clears throat) Did she-
Amber: Yep.
Andrew: Oh god sorry. I didn't hear you and-
Amber: Honey we already agreed to forget it, so don't bring it up please.
Jo: Please don't…well come on Dr. Karev let's get you married.
Amber: (Grins) Yep just let me grab my bag.
(Amber leaves Jo and Andrew alone in the kitchen for a few moments as they stand there awkwardly)
Jo: (Looks down and clears throat) So is your dad coming?
Andrew: (Nods awkwardly) Yeah he quarantined and he's gonna be there after we take the photos.
Jo: (Still awkward) Great that's great and with Amber's mom and brother coming it's great everything is…great.
Andrew: (Awkward as well) Great…How's the Luna situation going?
Jo: Paperwork is still being processed Link still has her but we should get full custody in a month.
Andrew: (Nods)
(Amber comes out with a duffle bag)
Amber: Okay I'm ready.
Jo: (Relieved) Thank God, let's go say goodbye you only have five minutes.
Amber: (Stands in front of Andrew with a smile) Okay next time I see you you're gonna see me in a swan dress, an e girl haircut and goth makeup.
Andrew: (Chuckles) My dream bride, I can't wait.
(Amber and Andrew kiss tenderly and it leads to a make out for a few moments with Jo awkwardly in the room who clears her throat loudly causing them to break up)
Jo: As happy as I am for the two of you, I said five minutes not five hours so come on before you break so many superstitions right now.
Amber: (Quickly kisses Andrew) Try to think about me a lot before I walk down that aisle.
Andrew: Oh from what you just did five minutes ago I am definitely gonna think about you.
Jo: (Rolls her eyes and grabs Amber's arm) Okay keep it in your pants until the wedding night DeLuca, Amber let's go.
Amber: (Grins at him) I love you; I'll see you tomorrow.
Andrew: (Grins) Love you.
(Jo practically drags Amber away from DeLuca and they leave the house together)
THE NEXT MORNING
SCENE: ALEX AND JO'S BACKYARD
(Jo is cradling the baby watching the venue coordinators setting up the lights, the chairs, the tables and the dance floor from the patio. Alex and Izzie enter the patio observing as well with the twins)
Izzie: Okay caterers are gonna be here in an hour, hair and makeup are gonna follow and the cake is already out of the oven. I am killing the wedding game right Alexis?
Alexis: Yeah…but don't you need the bride to make a wedding?
Izzie: (Wide eyes) Oh god where is she? Did she bail? I am gonna kill her if she bailed.
Jo: (Chuckles) Relax she and Schmitt just went out to get sage before the ceremony.
Alex: Sage?
Jo: Yeah, she's extra superstitious today and controlling so don't make fun of her or she'll destroy you.
Izzie: Hey as long as she walks down that aisle I will throw salt over my shoulder if she wants. I didn't peg her for the voodoo kind of bride.
Alex: You would be if your parents got a nasty divorce due to mental illness and abuse and the same happened to the groom. Also, the DeLuca's disaster wedding tradition combined with the Karev's disaster wedding tradition makes you afraid a piano will fall on you.
Alexis: Is that why she's making me tie bags of rice for the guests to throw at them after the ceremony?
Alex: Yes, and if at any point you see a dove or a lamb tell her and she'll probably be less stressed.
Izzie: (Gets text and frowns) Or she'll get more stressed when I tell her the minister cancelled.
Jo: (Shocked) What?! Why?!
Izzie: (Panics) He tested positive for covid this morning and he's gonna quarantine. The ceremony is in five hours and we have no minister, oh my god!
Jo: (Gasps in horror) Oh man this is bad… (Gets an idea) Wait don't freak out, Alex and I got married on a ferry after Meredith got ordained online in like 10 seconds.
Izzie: (Eyebrow raised) Is that even legal?
Alex: (Pulls out phone and types) Yeah anybody who's ordained can sign a marriage license the ceremony is just for show.
Izzie: (Slightly relieved) Okay this is good, crisis is averted.
Jo: (Smiles) Yeah now we just need to find someone who can do it, somebody who knows Amber and Andrew really well and will try not to mess it up. Who should we get?
Alex: (Types in phone) You.
Jo: (Frowns) Me? But I'm the maid of honor.
Izzie: So is Schmitt it'll just be one vacancy instead of two and Amber won't blow her top off.
Alex: Yeah, I mean your Amber's best friend they both love you and…I just ordained you.
(Jo gasps and looks at the confirmation on Alex's phone)
Izzie: (Grins) Awesome your gonna be great just make some nice speech in the beginning let them say their vows and then pronounce them man and wife and tell them to kiss. I gotta make some calls, let me know when we can get this party started.
Alex: Yeah, me and Eli gotta get fitted for our suits, you're gonna be great minister.
(Alex kisses a stunned Jo on the cheek and quickly goes inside to grab Eli. Izzie leaves Jo, Alexis and baby Richard)
Jo: (To Alexis) Did he just call me minister?

SCENE: TUX SHOP
(Andrew stands in front of the mirror in his white blouse and black slacks on the podium getting measured by the tailor with Alex and Eli eating the complimentary finger sandwiches and Link in the fitting room putting on his tux)
Andrew: You know the drill right Eli? Your gonna lead Auntie Amber down the aisle with Alexis carrying the rings box and you give the rings to us after I call your name when me and Amber talk to the guests together. Can you remember all of that?
Eli: (Mouth full) I can do it!
Alex: (Chuckles) Don't spoil your appetite before the reception buddy. We need to get you fitted for your tux.
Andrew: Yeah, I mean you want to be the second-best looking guy in this wedding don't you?
Alex: (Amused) Second best? Eli's gonna be the man, I'm gonna be second best, you'll be lucky to make the top ten DeLuca.
Andrew: (Rolls his eyes) Thanks.
Alex: Are you nervous? You remembered to take your meds, right? It's gonna be a stressful day.
Andrew: (Puts blazer on) Yeah, I got it don't worry you can tell Amber she doesn't need to send her brother to spy on me that's what I got a best man for.
Link: (From fitting room) Yeah, I got it covered Alex I even proofread his vows and if it doesn't make Amber cry she's made of stone. I wonder if the same could be said for Amber, did you read them?
Alex: Nope she forbade us from reading it says it wants to be a surprise. Which I can't tell if it's good or bad.
Andrew: Well, hey as long as there's an I do in there I'll take it.
Link: (Comes out in his tux) Wow you really love her, don't you?
Andrew: (Sighs) So much.
Link: (Smiles) Well hey if it's any consolation I think Amber's love for you says enough and no speech can comprehend that. And you clean up nicely my friend.
Andrew: (Chuckles) Thanks you too. Okay Eli, you're up next come on.
(Andrew gets off the podium and Alex lifts Eli on it. Link eats a finger sandwich)
Link: You know I'm surprised your not freaking out right now. I mean most grooms would reminisce their single days before getting latched for life. I mean wedding days are supposed to be drama filled.
Andrew: Well, I think me and Amber already covered the drama before the ceremony, and the engagement…and before we started dating.
Link: That's a good point. Seriously man I'm happy for you and her, you two deserve each other. You got lucky.
Andrew: (Grins) Yeah, I really did and so did you. Are you and Amelia thinking about making it official?
Link: (Chuckles) Uh actually that's what I wanted to talk to you about.
(Link takes out a small velvet box revealing an engagement ring inside it. Andrew's eyebrows rise in surprise)
Andrew: Link I'm flattered but I'm getting married in five hours and she's more my type than you.
Link: Shut up man I'm trying to ask you if I can propose to Amelia during the reception. I got the kids to each hold different rings so she can choose which one to say yes to, it's a freaking romantic gesture and what better place than at a-
Andrew: (Blunt) No.
Link: (Taken back) …No?
Andrew: (Repeats) No.
Link: No what?
Andrew: No, you're not gonna propose to Dr. Shepherd at the wedding. I won't allow it.
Link: Okay can you at least think about it?
Andrew: I have and it's still a no.
Link: (Confused) …Okay because…
Andrew: Because I have been in love with Amber Karev for four years, four years Link. And in that time, we have had a rollercoaster journey filled with love, laughter, tears and angst. All of it leading up to this moment in our lives where we start the most important chapter of our personal lives. Now I know Amber and she wouldn't want to risk an awkward moment during the first hour of our marriage where Amelia turns you down and frankly, I wouldn't want that either.
Link: She might say yes.
Andrew: She might but this is our day, ours not yours and Amelia's. We're not the sharing kind so I'm gonna take a page out of my future wife's book and threaten you into submission. If you so much as kneel down to tie your shoelaces before or during the wedding, I will cut your jewels off and give them to Amber as our Christmas wedding ornament.
Link: (Eyes wide in fear from the threat)
Andrew: Are we clear?
Link: (Nods slightly) Crystal…I think we were wrong to think you two are polar opposites.
Andrew: Yeah, she's not the only one in this relationship with a dark side so put that ring back in your pocket and keep it there.
(Link puts the ring away as Andrew goes to Eli and Alex)
Alex: (Saw what happened) He wanted to propose?
Andrew: Yep.
Alex: You scared him out of doing it?
Andrew: Yep.
Alex: (Nods nonchalantly) Your definitely right for my sister…but for the record if you do that to her, I will hunt you down and do my brotherly duties.
Andrew: (Calm) Understood you don't have to worry about that.
AN HOUR LATER
SCENE: ALEX AND JO'S BACKYARD
(Amber is waving the burning white sage smudge stick around the yard as the men prepare the venue. Levi and Taryn come out smiling at the stressed Amber)
Amber: (Harsh) What are you idiots so happy about?
Levi: Well, these idiots thought you could use a surprise to relieve your stress.
Taryn: (Grins) Yep a little blast from the past might do you some good so…
(Sam Bello, Casey Parker, and Dahlia Quadri come outside smiling behind their masks happy to see her. Amber barely notices them as she's busy saging)
Dahlia: Surprise!
Casey: Happy wedding day!
Sam: Hi! You can go ahead and hug us we're all negative and we got inoculated.
Amber: (Too busy saging) Yeah hi, hugs and all that do me a favor and spread some sage to banish the evil spirits.
Sam: (Grins and looks to Levi and Taryn) I see she hasn't changed much.
Levi: Nope.
Taryn: You three got lucky leaving this hot mess when you could. Is there any chance you can take me with you when this is done?
Amber: I heard that!
Dahlia: (Burns sage) Why are we banishing evil spirits?
Amber: Because I want this wedding to go perfectly and when my brother and sister saw each other before they got married it unleashed an epic amount of chaos. I mean you all remember you were there.
Sam: I wasn't.
Amber: And then there's the DeLuca's cursed wedding tradition that included stabbing, death and demotion, the last one was recent. Combined with my family's curse this wedding is a landmine waiting to go off at the first misstep hence the sage.
Taryn: Yeah, and then there's your parents both getting horribly divorced.
Levi and Sam: (Irritated) Helm!
Casey: Look couples get divorced but couples also don't and I think you and DeLuca fit the latter.
Amber: We will as soon as I find something borrowed. Any of you got something borrowed?
Dahlia: What is that?
Amber: Well you know the whole something blue, something old, something new and something borrowed tradition? I'm doing that, I got something new, my wedding shoes, something old, the DeLuca family heirloom engagement ring and something blue.
(Amber points to Jazz laying on the ground wearing a blue tie)
Sam: (Raised eyebrows) When did you get a dog?
Amber: Now I need something borrowed so I can complete the tradition and not repeat my parent's horrible marriage!
Dahlia: (Pulls out cash) Here's 20 bucks you can borrow it.
Amber: No, I tried that and it's not good it has to be something sentimental something that symbolizes love.
(Izzie comes out with Alexis holding a basket of flowers)
Izzie: (Grins) Hey the flower girl wanted to practice her role right before the wedding what do you say?
Amber: (Groans) You can do whatever you want sweetie I need to find something to borrow that blesses this freaking union!
(Amber stomps inside the house leaving them all behind)
Levi: …So have you guys met Izzie and Alexis?
ONE HOUR LATER
SCENE: ANDREW AND AMBER'S HOUSE
(Andrew is struggling to put his bowtie on in front of a mirror with Carina and Maya upstairs getting ready. Vincenzo comes in wearing a gray suit amused at his failure to tie his bowtie)
Andrew: It's my first bowtie sue me.
Vincenzo: Well, it's not mine, come here and I'll help.
(Andrew faces Vincenzo and gives him the tie that he wraps around the collar)
Vincenzo: Are you nervous?
Andrew: I'm trying not to be…but yeah. Is that a bad thing?
Vincenzo: Are you thinking about running away from the wedding?
Andrew: Not for a second.
Vincenzo: Then no it's not a bad thing, it just means you want everything to be perfect. Before I married mama, I wasn't nervous at all. I wasn't worried or stressed I was just putting one foot in front of the other and seeing the wedding as a checklist. Your mama was the opposite, she was nervous and she bit my head off every time I made fun of her for it.
Andrew: It sounds like she knew Aunt Stella was gonna have a heart attack at the reception.
Vincenzo: (Chuckles lightly) She was afraid something bad was gonna happen but really she was nervous about the marriage and what was gonna come next. She was afraid it wouldn't last…and she was right.
Andrew: Is this your way of making me feel better? Because bringing up your nasty divorce is not working.
Vincenzo: Your mama and I weren't right for each other, we loved each other but it wasn't for life. You and that gorgeous woman of yours on the other hand…that's a love that lasts ten lifetimes. Your mama would tell you that if she was here right now. I know because she used to say she hoped you would find someone who made you happy and nervous on your wedding day. And she would love her as much as I do after seeing how happy she has made you even through the darkest moments. And she would say she loves you and is so proud of you. There your done.
(Andrew faces the mirror and looks to see his bowtie done right and exhales nervously)
Andrew: Okay it's time to get married.
ONE HOUR LATER
SCENE: ALEX AND JO'S BEDROOM
(Amber is sitting in front of the vanity mirror wearing a white robe with her long blonde hair in loose waves. The makeup artist finishes the final touches of her makeup and leaves the room. Amber stands up and looks at her red bustier tulle dress in awe before someone knocks on the door)
Amber: If you're the groom I suggest waiting till tonight or this marriage will start with bad luck before we walk down the aisle.
Aaron: (Outside) It's me you weirdo.
(Amber opens the door and lets Aaron in)
Amber: Hey.
Aaron: (Grins) Hey, I just wanted to see my little sister before she gets married. Oh wow you are officially the most beautiful bride I've seen and your not even in your dress yet.
Amber: You do know you're married right? Isn't that reserved for your wife?
Aaron: Yeah, but it's your big day it's nothing against her. How do you feel?
Amber: (Chuckles uneasily) Like I have a pit of fire in my stomach and I can't throw it up. I haven't found something borrowed for the wedding tradition and I'm hoping the universe lets that go and just let's this wedding go as planned. Overall, I feel nervous and anxious and I'm trying hard not to take my anxiety meds so I'm not numb when I read my vows to this wonderful, gorgeous man who loves me for some reason.
Aaron: Good that's how you're supposed to feel before you get hitched otherwise the marriage is doomed traditions achieved or not. I mean look at Jimmy and mom, they weren't nervous.
Amber: Yeah, but their wedding was done in Atlantic City by a Tom Jones impersonating priest. It wasn't as planned or fancy as this one.
Aaron: Well either way I'm happy for you kid and I'm sure this marriage will last longer and not be as destructive as the other Karev marriages. Think positive.
Amber: (Grins) I'm positive you're failing this big brother pre wedding speech.
Aaron: Well, I didn't have much practice. I didn't go to the previous two weddings my siblings had.
Amber: To be fair one was spur of the moment and the other you didn't respond to. Promise me you will not fight with Alex over missing both or me asking him to walk me down the aisle instead of you please.
Aaron: I promise…look at you all grown up.
Amber: (Smiles sweetly) I love you.
Aaron: I love you kid come here.
(Aaron and Amber hug before Helen Karev comes in carrying a small drawstring bag)
Helen: (Smiles) Hi how is my baby doing?
Aaron: She's good she's freaking out but that's to be expected. Okay I'm gonna find Emma and the boys make sure they don't destroy the aisle. Are you good?
Amber: I'm good, go and do damage control.
(Aaron leaves Helen and Amber in the room with Helen grinning and looking at Amber)
Helen: Oh honey you're the most beautiful woman in the world and it's not just on your wedding day.
Amber: (Grins) Well I guess it's a good thing I got my looks from you and not Jimmy. What's in the bag?
Helen: Well before I left town I was going through your old room and I found something I thought you would like to wear today.
Amber: What is it?
Helen: (Hands her the bag) Open it and see.
(Amber opens the bag and pulls out a small gold bridal hair clip that looks weary from age)
Helen: (Grins) I remember when you were 8 and you brought it home after a sleepover with Jenny. You said that you borrowed it from Jenny's sister who was getting married so you've got the old and borrowed thing covered not that I expect you to wear it tonight but I know it meant a lot to you.
Amber: (Looks at the hair clip in shock) I can't believe I kept this all these years.
Helen: (Smiles) I remember when you came home with it.
Amber: So do I.
Helen: I remember you brought it to me and said 'someday mom I'm gonna wear this when I get married.'
Amber: …And do you remember what you said to me? (Helen looks at her confused) No probably not you were off your meds. You said 'don't ever get married Amber, the women in our family always choose men who like to hurt us.'
Helen: (Looks guilty) …Oh well…I guess it's a good thing you're finally breaking that tradition and choosing someone who loves you with all of his heart.
Amber: Yeah.
Helen: Honey…I want you to know that no matter what I've done or said in the past one thing was always on my mind when I thought of you. That thing was 'this girl is gonna go places and she'll find the life that she deserves.' And now look, it came true.
Amber: (Tries not to tear up) Mom I love you but I just got my makeup done and I don't want to ruin it by crying.
Helen: I'm sorry I'll get out of your way. (Cradles her cheek and tears up) My sweetest girl. My truest love.
(Helen leaves Amber to get ready and compose herself)
THIRTY MINUTES LATER
SCENE: ALEX AND JO'S BACKYARD
(Amber walks around the yard in her white robe looking around the scene in awe. The aisle is silk white with white chairs on both sides. The end of the aisle is at the back with a simple wooden arch. There are circular dining tables on the right side of the yard and a dancing floor on the left with a DJ stand)
Izzie: Pretty great for a backyard wedding huh?
(Amber turns to find Izzie in a black sheath dress smiling at her)
Amber: It is more than great it's…it's perfect. I-I know that I wasn't the easiest client you've had-
Izzie: (Chuckles) Yeah you made me miss the cancer because that would've gotten you to shup up and go along with my ideas.
Amber: (Chuckles) Yeah, I probably deserved that um…thank you Izzie for all of this. I know that you did this for Alex because I'm his sister and the kids so they can have something good to attend this year. I know this wasn't for me but thank you for doing this and I know DeLuca is gonna love this too.
Izzie: (Grins at her) I did this for you too believe it or not. I know our relationship is delicate but at the end of the day, married to Alex or not, your family. And this is long overdue for you two crazy kids, seriously.
Amber: (Sniffles and tries to compose herself) Your gonna make me cry and ruin my wedding makeup and then I'm gonna kill you.
Izzie: (Chuckles and tries to compose herself too) Sorry I'll stop talking right now and just hug you, come here.
(Izzie and Amber hug each other for a few tender moments before pulling apart)
Izzie: Okay seriously though if your skinny ass goes anywhere except down that aisle, I'm gonna make this wedding mine and marry DeLuca instead of you just out of spite.
Amber: (Laughs) Don't worry I've waited long enough I am ready for this.
Izzie: Good, congratulations. Now the guests are gonna come any minute so go back inside and put that damn dress on so we can get you married.
Amber: Thank you, I mean it.
(Amber heads back inside the house)
TWENTY FIVE MINUTES LATER
SCENE: ALEX AND JO'S BACKYARD
(Andrew is waiting at the end of the aisle adjusting his cufflinks with Link next to him. All of their friends and co workers are sitting on the bride or groom's side waiting for the ceremony to begin. Carina approaches him with a smile)
Carina: Are you good?
Andrew: Yeah I'm good. I've got my tux on, I've got my vows and the ring bearer's got the rings all we need now is the bride. She's here right?
Carina: Yes, I checked and she's in the room ready.
Andrew: How does she look?
Carina: (Grins amused) If I told you before you saw her it wouldn't be a surprise. But let's just say you're a very lucky man.
Andrew: (Grins) You don't have to tell me that.
Carina: (Looks at Andrew lovingly) My baby brother's getting married, it seemed like just yesterday I was tucking you in and singing you that song to get you to fall asleep.
Andrew: (Smiles nostalgically) Thanks for convincing me to talk to her on Halloween two years ago. If it wasn't for you…none of this would be happening.
Carina: (Smugly grins) I know.
Andrew: Okay now can you sit back down so I can get married?
Carina: I love you, congratulations.
Andrew: I love you too.
(Carina sits down in her chair at the front of the aisle next to Vincenzo. They all wait patiently for the ceremony to start. Jo walks around the aisle in a long dark blue a line floral dress. She exhales nervously as she takes her place at the arch with Andrew looking at her confused)
Jo: Minister got sick and Alex ordained me online it was either me or we postpone and this wedding looks hella expensive so be grateful and I'll try not to embarrass you.
Andrew: (Processes) …Okay then.
THREE MINUTES LATER
SCENE: ALEX AND JO'S BEDROOM
(Amber is standing in front of the full view mirror wearing a long red tulle bustier dress. She looks at the old hair clip nostalgically and puts it in her bouquet. Alex comes in wearing a black suit with a dark blue tie and red boutonniere. He looks at her in amazement)
Alex: (Grins) Wow.
Amber: (Inhales nervously) How do I look?
Alex: Like Andrew is lucky he beat all those guys out of marrying you because you make any man drop to his knees with just one look.
Amber: (Smiles) Thanks, it almost got ruined with crying but I held tough. (Exhales nervously) Is he here?
Alex: He's here, he'd be an idiot not to be. Are you nervous?
Amber: (Swallows) Yeah…we're you this nervous when you first got married?
Alex: No but that was because Izzie was dying so it was now or never then. Look I don't have much sage wisdom for you all I can tell you is…you're not a kid, you haven't been for a long time. You know what you want, it takes a while but you get there in the end. Is this what you want?
Amber: (Grins) …Yeah, it's what I've wanted for years now I was just too scared to admit it.
Alex: (Grins) Good that means this marriage isn't gonna blow up like you secretly fear. And you're not gonna make the same mistakes mom and Jimmy made or me and Izzie made, you're way too smart and good to repeat that pattern. I know that Jo knows that DeLuca knows that hell even the dog knows that so you have to. Do you understand?
Amber: (Calmer) Yeah…and you know that was pretty good sage wisdom for your first time doing this.
Alex: Well hopefully I perfect it by Alexis's and Luna's wedding.
Amber: That's the hope.
Alex: (Grins) Are you ready to get married?
Amber: (Grins) Let's do this.
(Amber links her arm around Alex's and they walk out of the bedroom ready to walk down the aisle)
