Timelines and dimensions. . .structures and ideas beyond our very understanding of science. We see these in fiction, and yet. . .what do they mean? Do they—. . .?
"Hooold your Horsebirds!"
Huh? Was it not cool enough?
"No, it's not that, I just think you gotta get on with the real parts and slivers, Proxi-mox!"
But. . .I thought my small opening was cool. . .
"It's confusing and too fill-eh. . .fill. . .fill-oh. . ."
Philosophical?
"Yeah, that! Just tell us what it's about already! It can't be cool if it's makin' my brain melt like a pudding in summer!"
Fine, fine. Ahem.
The world of Gamindustri. Mysterious, chaotic, yet beautiful all the same. It was a world that truly liked to show more than tell; lively areas such as the Virtua Forest, Westward Ravine, and of course, the four Nations. Urban powerhouses, all ruled by a CPU — or Goddess — to call their own.
To the west: Planeptune, the Land of Purple Progress, ruled by CPU Purple Heart.
To the east: Lastation, the Land of Black Regality, ruled by CPU Black Heart.
To the north: Lowee, the Land of White Serenity, ruled by CPU White Heart.
And lastly, to the south: Leanbox, the Land of Green Pastures, ruled by CPU Green Heart.
These four CPUs, alongside the four CPU Candidates, have convened many a time to protect their Nations and Gamindustri from various threats, including the likes of the Deity of Sin, the Ancient CPU of Tari, and the CPU of Darkness. Gamindustri has seen peace for some few years following the final battle with the CPU of Darkness, and not a single threat has been seen to be on the rise ever since. But perhaps the threat will not lie within Gamindustri. . .or even Hyper Dimension.
The threat could be from another universe entirely. One where there are no Goddesses; one where there is no Deity of Sin; one where war. . .was on the verge of breaking out.
A Holy War.
This is the tale of a Planeptunian CPU winding up in a land of Middle Era times through means of interdimensional travel. CPU Purple Heart. . .no. Neptune. . .was about to go on a trip of literal epic proportions.

The continuous sounds of buttons being pressed permeated the room as retro, 8-bit sounds accompanied it in accordance with the inputs. A CPU lays upon her beanbag and stares into the television screen, excitedly wiggling left and right from the action.
"Take that! And that! Hahaaa, score three for the Protagonist, woooo!" a pink-haired girl named Neptune says, pumping her fist into the air energetically.
"O-Onee-chan, that's only two points," the girl standing next to her, Nepgear, says in a nervous tone.
"What?! But I was totally standing behind the three-point line! D'aaagh, this game is so rigged and dumb and it really reeks of bad coding! Honestly, the writer should be ashamed of himself for even putting this here!"
Neptune groaned a little bit more as her hands moved onto the controller once more, her thumb placed over one of the face buttons on the right side of the device.
"You got this, little me! I believe in you," a third character says, who appeared to be a more mature version of Neptune. Her hair was longer, her figure was larger, and she was wearing a Black Parka Dress.
"Heh, the Protagonist of Protagonists will always get the win no matter what! I'mma make this three-pointer whether the game wants me to or not, with the power of destiny!"
With her fingers working their magic on the controller, Neptune manages to regain control of the ball once more. . .she shoots from the three-point line. . .and sinks it! She got it!
"Yippeeeee!"
Her excitement goes through the roof as she drops the controller and hops into the air a few times, a pleasant smile plastered on her visage. The other two were smiling with her; Nepgear in particular was applauding her older sister for her talent.
You can thank me for that.
"Naaah, don't lie to me, writer, that was totally all on me! Don't be mad just because I said it would happen and then it would happen! It's just like finding a Shiny Pocket Monstrosity! Power! Of! Destinyyy!"
Her enthusiastic tone and general upbeat attitude certainly screamed Neptune; it's like some sort of mode of hers. She can hardly ever get down in the dumps, regardless of the situation.
"Onee-chan, I feel like that was just a case of randomness being kind to you. . ."
"D'aww, don't be such a Dogoo downer, Nepgear! I totally had that with skill and stuff! I'm the most talented gamer in Gamindustri, y'know! Top 1 Gamer is nothin' to sneeze at!"
"Ehehe. . .I guess not."
"I guess that's over now, so. . .little me, I found this crazy new dimension that I've never seen before! It's really cool and totally fit for a protagonist like you!"
"Ooohoho! Lemme hear it, my bigger and totally (not) older self!"
She turns towards the fourth wall, staring at the audience beyond the screen.
"And I know she's not older than me, so don't you try and say she's older than me, silly reader!"
"Well. . ."
The bigger Neptune opens her specimen book, dubbed the Nep-Note, flipping through the various pages of it and showing her the new bug she found. It was quite unique; it was a purple butterfly whose wings glowed with this blue magic and strange aura.
"The bugs I found there were really cool! This one reminded me of the Fluttering Fuschia I found in that other dimension a few months ago, so I thought it'd be cool to show you!"
"Okay, but. . .I'm not really interested in icky, sticky, weak bugs and stuff. Is that why you want me to go?" she asked in a bored tone, seemingly disappointed.
"Of course not! I found more than just bugs there, silly! Turns out, it's actually a dimension that's super far in the past; like, a hundred billion gazillion years!"
An over-exaggeration, but given what she might have seen there with what could have been technology that is far behind what Gamindustri currently brings to the table, she's not wrong. Just thinking too largely.
"Wowza! You for real?! Do you think I could find a new ancient sword there and add it to my collection? That'd be so cool!"
"Who knows? You're just gonna have to find out once you get there, it seems!"
Rubbing her hands together, the smaller Neptune started to stretch herself and get herself ready for a new adventure in another dimension! Wooden Sword grabbed from her bed, D-Pad hairclips on her head, and classically leaving her friends and family to do her work in her stead, Neptune is fully prepared for the journey ahead!
"Alright, bigger me. . .get your li'l meanie fairy servant to open the portal!"
"Hey! Who are you calling a 'li'l meanie fairy servant', you clutz?!"
"Ah ah ah! No words from the peanut gallery, Crostie!" the bigger Neptune closed her Nep-Note and subsequently opens the portal to this new world. It's amazing how she has the coordinates memorized.
"See you next game! Or episode! Or even volume; whatever the case, let's pick up and play again soon, Nepgear!"
Neptune looked back at her younger sister and her Ultra Dimension counterpart, waving a subtle yet temporary goodbye to them as she hopped through the portal. The duo waved back with smiles on their faces, with Nepgear glad to see Neptune indulging in something that doesn't involve being inside the Basilicom.
"It's time for the protagonist to make her debut in this new game!"

As the portal begins to open on the other side, a certain white-blue-striped sock and purple shoe takes a step through the cross-dimensional gate, alongside a white-sleeved arm, and finally, the body of Neptune herself.
"Yahooo! I've arrived in this new dimension! Put that one in the records, writer; we've got ourselves a new high score on our hands!"
You're not even at the furthest coordinates.
"B-be quiet, I'm the lead role here, so you gotta listen to me!"
To the right of Neptune stood a castle guard, utterly bewildered and somewhat terrified of her sudden appearance from the strange wormhole and her. . .seemingly delusional self-talk.
"K-King Bartra! There's an intruder!" the guard shouts as he drops his weapon and runs out of the tower, seemingly headed to the throne room.
"King Bartra?"
Neptune rubbed the back of her neck as she slowly made her way out of the castle tower, walking down the stairs and into the larger castle interior. It was very much what a fictional castle normally looks like on the inside; marble pillars connected from the floor to the roof, banners hanging along the side halls and galleries, and a long, sprawled carpet leading to what appears to be a secondary throne sitting at the apex of the carpet.
"Wowie zowie. . .bigger me wasn't lying; this place looks more like it's out of a fantasy-type fiction than anything! It's way less advanced than Gamindustri! I suppose it just goes to show how awesomely overleveled we are!"
Within the moments that she spoke of this dimension's lack of advanced technology, a myriad of guards descended upon Neptune, all of them wearing different sets of armor and with varying levels of strength.
"Freeze, intruder! Take another step forward and we'll be forced to attack you under the orders of His Majesty, King Bartra!"
From the pure shock of being surrounded by so many castle guards, Neptune's eyes turned to the classic white dots as she stood in a defensive position.
"Nepu?! What in the what is going on here?! I started a new game in this dimension and I'm greeted by a bunch of early-game enemies who're under the rule of a boss?! What kind of place is this?!"
"Men! Stand down!"
The deep voice of a monarchical man echoes through the large space of the main interior. The castle guards lower their weapons, whilst a few of them stood aside to make way for their king: Bartra Liones.
"Hmm. . .a young girl? What are you doing in the castle? Are you lost?"
"Oooh, you must be that King Barter dude that these people were talking about! Wow, talk about royalty; you're totally decked out with the King starter pack and stuff!"
"How dare you speak to His Majesty like that, young lady!"
"Hey, hey, I was just repeating what I heard and all that stuff, no need to get all Blanny-rage at me!"
As King Bartra clears his throat, he approaches Neptune and puts a hand on her shoulder.
"Young lady. . .as King, I ask you to please leave the castle and return to your home. We're preparing for a ceremony tomorrow to commemorate the heroics of the Seven Deadly Sins in their battle for the defense of the Kingdom of Liones. We can't be sidetracked by your childishness."
"Ehhh? Kingdom of Liones? Seven Deadly Sins? Look, man, I don't even know what this dimension is called so I don't wanna be treated like I'm part of this place or whatever! This is like inviting me to a guild when I don't want to be in one, even when my playercard says I don't want to!"
King Bartra and the castle guards stare at Neptune in total confusion, but proceed to escort her out of the castle regardless.
"I bid you safe travels, young lady."
"Hold on a sec—!"
The large doors were shut behind her before she could even get a chance to explain herself.
". . .maaan, this new dimension is so mean to me! All I wanted was some good ol' adventure! That's no way to treat a new player! Least of all a protagonist!"
The CPU dusts off her Parka Dress and puts her hands behind her head, walking down the hill the castle was situated upon. Turning her head to her left, it appears that the townspeople are lively and busy with reparations to the kingdom, which looks to be somewhat battle-worn. King Bartra did mention that there was a battle for the kingdom, so perhaps what happened to cause this must be that battle.
"Bigger me really was right; this place is so retro that it makes real retro look like a modern game in comparison! I don't even see a power line around here! How old even is this place? Or. . .when the [Nep] am I—? Hey!"
Sorry, Nep. Gotta keep it safe.
"Meanie. . .hmph!"
The voices of the townspeople filled the air around her as she made her way down the cobblestone-forged walkways. Several stands were to her sides; some food stands, clothing stands, forging stands, etc.
"Looks like everyone is all fine and dandy! This is really cool! I can even feel the Share Energy in the air. . .it's as sweet and comforting as a nice cup of pudding!"
The atmosphere just felt peaceful, similar to Gamindustri!
"Hey, hey, did you hear that the Boar Hat is re-opening?"
"Oh, you mean that tavern ran by Meliodas, Captain of the Seven Deadly Sins? Maybe we should go there sometime! I heard that their ale is great! And it's outside the kingdom's walls, so it'll be less crowded than here!"
"Maybe we'll get some special Seven Deadly Sins brew, too!"
The two men walked pasted Neptune, who overheard their conversation.
"Hmm. . .Boar Hat, eh? Ran by the Captain of the Seven Deadly Sins? That King Harbor guy said something about them I think, so maybe there's someone or something worthwhile there!"
As she walked out of the kingdom wall's gate, she started to search around the plains for this "Boar Hat" place. It couldn't be that hard to find, right? With a name like that, its advertising must be rather specific and noticeable!
Kingdom of Liones — Outside the Walls
From the corner of her eye, she spots a rather peculiar-looking girl with long, silver-ish hair that reaches her hips and covers her right eye. Her figure was slender but young, her eyes as blue as the sky, and an earring that looks like it was forged by a master craftsman. She appears to be lightly sprinting to some location, but where?
". . .these are certainly some unique-looking people. They must be veteran players of this dimension."
Suddenly, the lass trips and falls flat on her face.
"Aw, jeez. . .but even then, they still manage to trip like the third game of a favorite of Blanc's series."
Neptune jogs over to the fallen young girl and kneels down by her side, moving her arms into a position where she's ready to help if need be.
"Hey, you okay? You took quite the fall there!"
As the girl lifted her face, the hair covering her right eye shifted a little bit, causing it to be revealed. What was shown is a glowing orange eye with a straight white triskelion in the center.
"Uhm. . .miss? Your right eye is a little weird."
The girl gasped and moved her hair back over her right eye once more, covering it in embarrassment.
"I-I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to scare you like that!"
"Hey, hey, it's all good! It ain't scary, honestly, it's just a little different from the kinds of eyes I've seen!"
The two stood up, and without saying much, the silver-haired girl started to walk away in the same direction as she was sprinting before.
". . .what a weird woman. That eye was certainly something. . .I could sense some sort of divine magical power in her. . .but it's not like Share Energy. Maybe I should follow her and see what happens. . ."
As much as she doesn't like to follow people, sneaking up on them, or anything of the sort. . .she feels compelled to do this. The energy she felt was too intriguing to pass over. Besides, she might be lead to this Boar Hat place if she follows this person!
"This stealth mission is a go, just like in that super solid game!"
Neptune starts to follow this individual, making sure to remain out of sight and hiding her presence — sound, aura, what have you — so she isn't spotted and questioned. For multiple minutes, the CPU continued to trail behind her until reaching the Boar Hat. It was a small tavern with a spire and multiple floors, with the main floor being reserved for the actual "tavern" part. The girl walked inside and shut the door behind her.
"Looks like an ordinary tavern. . .not that those really exist in Gamindustri. . .but why was her right eye like that?"
Seeing this as an opportunity to move forward some more, Neptune tip-toes forward and looks through the window of the tavern's first floor. She can hear muffled voices through the window.
". . .and Father wants to personally thank the heroes who saved Liones with medals of honor!"
Kingdom of Liones — Inside the Boar Hat
The silver-haired girl was speaking to a large pig. At first glance, one might find it strange that she is speaking to an animal that can't speak the human tongue, but then. . .
"The king's giving all of us medals?" the pig inquired. It seems that it can speak the human tongue after all! The girl speaking to it wasn't for nothing in the end!
"Yes! He insisted on giving them to the Seven Deadly Sins! That includes you, of course!"
Her tone was enthusiastic, yet soft and calming at the same time. It was young, yet sounded so mature.
"Well, of course! I'm the star, and everyone else was extra! I saved the kingdom!"
The girl chuckled a little bit at the pig's confidence in its statement, to which the pig put on a confused expression.
"Eh? That wasn't your cue to laugh at me. . ."
From behind the counter and skipping along the seats comes a short, young-looking blonde-haired boy with a white shirt and green shorts. The shirt bore insignias on both of the shoulders of the sleeves, whilst around his neck, there was a green and yellow, slightly-popped collar.
"Sorry to keep you waiting!"
The tone of this boy's voice, too, sounded young and enthusiastic. As the pig and the girl turned to face his direction, the girl's face beamed with happiness and excitement.
"Ta-daaa! Do I look good in this, Elizabeth?"
Elizabeth. . .that must be the name of the silver-haired girl!
"This would make for a great new uniform for the tavern, too!"
Standing up on her feet once more, Elizabeth clasped her hands together with a blush on her face.
"Y-yes! It looks wonderful!"
The pig looks up at the blonde and asks,
"Where did you get that outfit?"
To which the boy responds,
"It was a gift from Elizabeth."
"I thought you could wear it at the medal ceremony tomorrow."
"And it fits perfectly! That's because we share a bed every night!"
The way in which he said that last part sounded sinisterly perverted.
"I, too, am ready to go," said another individual who walked in through the door, somehow managing to not spot Neptune along the way. It was an individual with hot pink hair, yellow eyes, and a pair of glasses, all completed with a fancy outfit — purple-ish shirt, white undershirt, and a red bowtie.
"Sparkle!"
"Who picked that for you?"
"Who picked that for you?"
Both the boy and the pig spoke at the same time, wondering who picked the outfit that this pink-haired person was wearing.
"Hmm? That would be my sweet beloved, of course," said the person, implying that their lover chose their outfit.
"Beloved? Who are you talking about?"
"Being a bookworm must have blurred the line between reality and fiction, huh?"
From the staircase, yet another young-looking individual comes floating with a green pillow in hand as he holds a hand in front of his mouth a little bit, having just yawned not too long ago.
"Hey, hey, now. Looks like everyone's having some fun."
This young boy was wearing a hoodie, dyed navy blue, cyan, and yellow. The hood bore a metallic helmet with horns protruding from the sides where the ears would be located beneath, and there were small cutouts within the face of the helmet, likely to allow the wearer to see through it.
"Dressed like you normally are, huh, King?"
King. . .that must be the floating boy's name. Elizabeth is the silver-haired girl, and King is the floating one. . .but what of the other three?
A look of curiosity falls upon the pig's face as it noticed the helmet attached to the hood.
"Hm? What's going on with that hood of yours? Is that a helmet on it?"
"Oh, this thing? It was a gift from my best friend."
Outside the Boar Hat
Neptune continued to peer through the window of the tavern, listening in on the conversation that the five of them were having.
". . .by the way, where's—. . .?"
But unfortunately, the sound of large, imposing footsteps from behind caused Neptune to shift her attention elsewhere. More specifically, the orange boots that were situated behind her. She has a bad feeling about this.
'I've got a bad feeling about this. . .'
I just said that!
Ahem. . .a large figure leans down and looks Neptune in the eyes with a bewildered expression. Eyes blinking and Neptune trying her best to keep her composure, the lady soon asks.
". . .who are you?"
End of Chapter 1!
